Rocketkiller
Is it normal to have 3 CLI.exe's running at the same time? I'm using the tray icon and have the catalyst control center installed. Can someone with an ati card and the stuff I have installed check if this is normal?

Cran.
Mmmm, so i'm going to paint my CRT Monitor. I've been told by some other people that I just need to let it discharge for a while outside and then I can remove the casing. They said use thick rubber gloves and thick souled shoes. So I was thinking, would a couple of layers of normal kitchen gloves surfice? Also, would something like wellington boots be a decent alternative to thick soul shoes? Also, I was thinking of using Tamiya model paint (Which is used for models etc.) Would this be fine? Is there a actual specific type I need for this? I'd like to use a Red Metallic, so once I put like 4-5 coats of this on, then i'd need to put on a gloss coat on, right? Does tamiya sell these as well? FYI, i'm thinking of TS18- Red Metallic. That should be right? Any help? EDIT: Oh, and how many cans do you think i'd need?
Wolf68k
@Cran Don't forget to get some super fine wet sandpaper to sand between coats. And you're going to want to sand the case before you paint it. How many cans? Well it might help to know how big are the cans of paint and how big the monitor is. What color is the case now? If it's beige then you might not need 4-5coats, 2-3 should be enough 4 at the most. If it's black then ok yeah 4-5 are likely to be needed. @Lawley ThermalTake TR2 470W Black Silent +ATX 12V 2.0 PSU, 20pin +4pin SATA ready £29.30 - £34.43-inc VAT

As I forgot, wet sanding with 1500 grit sandpaper is a must. Means letting layers dry for a bit longer. Tamiya paint is enamel based and not that good a finish imho. I'd go all out and get a metallic finish.

Kayuni
I've got a P180 with a 7800 GTX and a 4200+ installed. I've just got the 3 stock fans, and no thermal compound. So, is 55 degrees Celcius a decent temperature under a heavy load after half an hour? (It's at about 40 when not under load.) Edit: I've got a second question now. In Day of Defeat: Source, I'm able to run everything at maximum, at about 70 FPS, so I do. Now, when playing, some players fail to appear. There can be 3 players identical to them, but the one will not show up. It's ally or enemy, and their muzzleflashes, playermodels, weapons, and all other parts aren't displayed -- other than the shadow. I haven't ahd this problem in Call of Duty 2 or in HL2: Lost Coast. Anyone know what this might be attributed to? Edit 2: Third question. Oh, the insanity. How would I go about validating my Steam cache? Platinum.
Hey guys, My birthdays come and gone and today I installed my new motherboard and proccesor. I'm having problems with the display. Everything but the graphics card is working well, and I can't understand why. The graphics card is a 6600GT AGP 8x and the motherboard is a ASRock Dual Sata2. The motherboard supports AGP 8x, so why the hell isn't it working? The only thing that my uncle managed to come up with, is that we noticed the AGP slot on the motherboard only supports "1.5V(volt)" cards. Is the 6600GT over that voltage? I dont know how to find out, I've had a look on Ebuyer, the Nvidia website and a load of other random forums that came up on Google, and all I've found is this quote: Note to Manufacturers: Please stop putting cheap heat sinks and lousy, small fans on these cards. They need to be kept cooler. People using these cards are doing more than word processing! Please update your video BIOS on your web site support pages and enable temperature monitoring. Please raise the power supply recommendation to 450 W, or specify 18+ amps on the +12 volt line. Please make your card truly bakward compatable with 4X AGP. That means able to run at 1.5 volts as well as .8 volts (the 8X spec). And DO expect to get some of your cards back for taking the cheap way out, and underestimating minimum requirements. See post #674, P.34. What does that mean? What is the Nvidia GeForce 6600GT AGP 8x voltage? Thanks. EDIT: Intel® Pentium® 4, AMD® Athlon® or higher with AGP 8X (0.8v), 4X (1.5V) or Universal AGP 3.0 bus configuration (8X/4X) So... according to that an AGP 8x is 0.8V, and an AGP 4x is 1.5V. My motherboard is asking for an AGP 8x card with 1.5V I'm very, very confused. Edited January 14, 2006 by Platinum.
Wolf68k
@Kayuni I can't speak for everyone else, but I'mnot ignoring your post. I just don't have an answer. @Cran I think as long as your careful to not touch anythingon the inside then you should be ok. As far as using mom's cleaning gloves, no they are not enough. Leather welding gloves should work too. @Platinum. I could be wrong but doesn't the 6600GT require power directly from the PSU? If so did you make sure that was connected? I've seen 6200s with a molex socket on them, so I'm pretty sure the 6600s need it too. How big is your PSU?
Platinum.
Thanks for the input wolf, I'm afraid the card is connected to the PSU and I'm still getting no display on the screen. I really dont understand why it's not working here.
anus
Plat, This might sound weird, but have you tried your card in another rig? Your card could've fried when you built your new rig. Nothing to lose. I have a question too, what's the most overclockable mobo I can get which supports a 133 Bus 1.2 Ghz, Celeron? Thanks.
Platinum.
Warlord: I haven't tried that yet, but I'm pretty sure it's hasn't been. I'll check it out soon though, thanks. I got a reply off of another forum, according to that bloke the card should work fine, and the only thing he can come up with is that the motherboard is faulty. So I might send it back. But, what if I send it back and they discover it isn't faulty?

MiNdLeSs
ahh, im so stupid. Ok i have another question. I have a sd card, and my camera now keeps saying it needs to be formatted (was fine before, took lots of pictures). Same thing when I put it in a pc. Now I'm wondering, can I format it and then just use a data recovery tool to bring all of the pictures back? Edit, I figured it out. It is possible. I just formatted the drive, and used the program "PC Inspector smart recovery" to recover the files. More files wer erecovered after the disk was formatted. jersiq
I am looking for a free program that will join some MP3 files together. Some of my Drum and Bass CD's were ripped as individual tracks which in turn creates pauses when I playback with my RIO Carbon. I want to delete the "pauses" by joining the files into one larger file. I already checked google, and the only thing I can find is "MP3Joiner" which is shareware. Dalpura
Well, I was just in Counter-Strike: Source, and my mouse froze. As in centred itself, and wouldn't move. (it was actually kind of funny because I ran from outside to the hostage room without losing any health against about 10 terrorists, even though I couldn't aim/turn - cs_assault). Anyway, even when I quit to Windows, it was the same centred annoyance. So I just restarted and it was fine. But I'd like to know, if you can tell at all, what caused this to happen. Also, after the restart as Windows logged on, the Windows firewall asked me about blocking/unblocking internet access for mIRC. Which I've used everyday for god knows how long, without any issues. I thought I actually disabled all notifications from the Windows security doohickey anyway, and then I just got that out of no where. If that's related at all.
