holdenrulz
So what would be better buying a new motherboard and new ram or staying with this motherboard(Asus P4T-E) and buying new ram. And is this motherboard worth keeping
SIP YEK NOD
that depends on your other components. if your processor supports a FSB speed higher than 400mhz, and if your video card supports 8x AGP. you would see large performance gains with a new motherboard. 1gb of RD ram will cost a minimum of about 400 dollars. whereas you can get a decent motherboard and 1-2gb of memory for less. Black-hawk
I have a Logitech Internet Keyboard just like in the pic. When playing games the bastard sometimes refuses such key presses (Plus that annoying beep from the computer): Arrow Down + Arrow Left, Arrow Down + Arrow Up + Arrow Left, CTRL + Arrow Up + Arrow Left. When the right arrow key is pressed instead of the left one, everything is fine. So basicly any combo of [KEY]+Arrow-Left doesn't work? Is this in games only or any where? Also if it is in games only; is it all games or select game(s)? I know in GTAVC I can't press 3 keys (anyway where and any 3) at once on my plain keyboard. But in something like BF42 or BFV I can hold W for gas while using the number-pad keys for my flight control, or do things like running forward and straff left or right and jump or reload if need be. Hmm, well it seems anywhere,'it just refuses to work with 2 random keys + left arrow. Guess not, only combinations of the arrow keys + the damned left one and a combo of CTRL+ Left arrow+ key. It's really annoying since I'm so used to my controls and don't really feel like re-assigning them. Edited June 24, 2005 by Black-hawk

Wolf68k
If I get a new motherboard and CPU will I have to format my Hardrives ???And if so just my primary or both primary and secondary drives ??? It's wish to reformat and reinstall the OS when replacing the mobo, no need if it was just the CPU alone. And you should only have to worry about the Primary. Im considering getting a External DVD drive for my laptop so...whats the best/easiest to use DVD burning software out there? That depends on what kind of DVD burning you have in mind. For basic DVD data made some basic convert a video file to DVD viewable in a DVD player, Nero will do just fine. If you plan to completely author a DVD; take video files (captures or whatever), menus, sub-titles, so on and have it playable in a DVD player, personally I use Adobe Encore DVD but Ulead also has a nice program for doing it. Wolf68k
@parry Ok just make sure I understand this correctly, this is when you go to check your email at msn and gmail? If this is right, then you're talking about 2 completely different servers. If this is both of the account names in MSN Messenger, then I have no clue and I can't help you anyway since I stay about as far as from MSN Messenger (MSN in general) as possible. @MINDLess Yes, you can stick an AGP 4x/8x card into a AGP 2x/4x slot, it will just run at 4x which means you'll miss some of the performance. As for that card it'll work, for about $20-30 more you can get a 6600GT or for around $200 you can get a 6800 which will really do better than the 6600GT even though it's slower. Barbaneez
Okay, something weird happened to my computer. I was on it, and I went off for a while and I noticed my text is now anti-aliased everywhere. I had not made any settings to do this, it's like my computer did it all on itself. Now all the text is all anti-aliased, ugly, thin, and hard to read. How do I make it go back to being "normal"? I also want to know how and why it happened in the first place.

GTA3Freak-2001
I've probably asked this before but its again on the subject of RAM and me wanting more of said RAM. I have a ECS K7S5A Pro mobo which to my knowledge has 4 slots, 2 are for DDR and 2 are for SDR obviously only 2 can be used at once. I believe I have one 512 MB stick in one of the DDR slots and I want to get another to fit in the second slot equallng 1024MB. I think its PC2100 speed, of a brand I am not sure of. Here's my motherboards specs page K7S5A Pro I am I right in saying that I don't have to get PC2100 speed RAM, I can get say PC2700 and it will just be downgraded to what my motherboard supports? As for the brands, I don't know what brand I've got already so should it be a problem if the brands are not the same? Another thing that bothers me is that SandraSoft 2005 tells me that the max installable RAM is 512 which is what I have, I take it that is incorrect as the actual website tells me it can take 1GB max? Luke15
It think its possible that you get that PC2700 ram, and your motherboard will just clock it down to what it supports. Mixing brands of RAM doesnt make any effect really. Only if you buy very cheap ram, and you have one high quality stick of it, the performance may be questionable. Also i would look mainly at the manufactures website, im sure SandraSoft 2005 is probably wrong.
