Crokey
@Gareth Croke - It may be Norton, go through the options and the settings of everything again and double check. Look real closely at everything. I can't tell you where it may be because i don't have NIS anymore...but if you have the Firewall on maybe it is blocking it so go to the firewall options and make sure it is allowing it, not blocking it. Thanks, I've tried looking through the Options (Which in Norton is poo) and I can't seem to find anything that could cause it. But I tried to re-install the Flash Player and that doesn't seem to work so I think it's that, as quite a few people on the 'Adobe Flash' boards are miffed about it. Weird really it worked fine when it was Macromedia GC
Cran.
Excellent, cheers for the help Forfit. Soon I will be playing Battlefield 2 with all the settings on high rather than low. Socket 939 is outdated though, so say goodbye to any chance of upgrading your CPU in the future with that motherboard. The new standard for AMD CPUs is AM2. You might want to consider the new Intel chips, as i've heard they're much faster than the current AMDs. FYI, 8 series may be coming out late this year or next year, I wouldn't hold your breath though. ME HAS A QUESTION TOO! Okay, so I've got a Western Digital WD800JB 80GB 7200RPM Hard Drive, and I want to put it in an external enclosure, right? On the WD site, it lists it as being EIDE, so what kind of enclosure would I be needing for it? Just a IDE one?

_-playero-_
IE problem seems to be fixed. I have another sort of question now. We are asked to make an e-yearbook as an end project for this year. It will be on html, as web site. I rather use Dreamweaver than frontpage, and we are not allowed to install software at school. My question is if I can make the whole thing at home (just my page, not everyone's evidentially) with dreamweaver, then save it, and move it to my school's server. I ask this because on some of my previous attempts with dreamweaver I had to work directly on the server, or would have a hell of a time with hyperlinks and images. As a result of my question my experience on html and web pages is arguable. Well, I dont know much about it.

As a result of my question my experience on html and web pages is arguable. Well, I dont know much about it. You should be able to do this. I'm not really too good with html either, though i can get by with it i'm not a fan of it. Be sure to have your links/images/anything that needs to be linked to be directed to the server. So save your pictures and upload them to the server so it will recognize the stuff as "www.yourschoolserver.com/whatever.jpg" and so on. That should allow your links/pictures to work so it knows where to grab the information exactly. Are you allowed to access your school server....outside of school? Like with a password or anything? If so then uploading what you created that way would be easiest...if you mean to say make it through dreamweaver and then load it into frontpage at school, i'm not so sure if that would work well. If anything i said is wrong please correct me, i'm not 100% all i can really tell you to do is give it a try. Maybe create a little somethin somethin and when you go to school try to upload it to the server and if it doesn't work then atleast you know it doesn't work and you wouldn't have wasted your time making your whole page at home to find out you can't upload it to the school computer. Bauer
I'm looking at a custom computer from CyberPower. They look trustworthy, and seem to be respected overall by the various major critics. But, I have noticed their rating system is kind of wacky, only showing 5/5 and 4/5 stars. Also, the comments have given evidence that these guys are not very experienced when it comes to putting a PC together, with all of the people complaining about various (and usually minor) assembly issues. So, has anyone here bought a PC from this place? What was your opinions, etc.? Thanks...

I don't know what exactly Forfit is talking about. At first read I thought he meant abosolute links but when I read it again he may be talking about relative link... which is what you need to use in this case, and problably always. Relative link are those which do not include the address of the website, but a relative path. Say you have "index.html" and "image.jpg" in the root folder of the server. In index.html you should have "... src='image.jpg' ... ", and that will do. If it its in a different folder: <a href="somefolder/otherpage.html">Link</a> If it is in an upper folder: <script src="../scripts/scrkiddie.js" ... ></script> ^That ".." goes up one directory. Dreamweaver should do this automatically, but I can't really tell since I've never used it. Hope it helped. ----------------------- In other news, wolf68k got tired of us asking stupid question and decided to not help anymore! Nah, not really, but is a fact that he's still active but not posting in PC Chat anymore. Given how helpful he has been to all of us there's nothing we can complain about... but this forums sure is becoming a dead place without him. What's a good bandwidth for standard ADSL connection? When i run a test i usually use Speak Easy. I am normally in the 2.5mbps/Down and 410kbps/Up range. I would say that is about standard. Forfit
Here are some system building companies. Just look through the computers on the righthand side and click on them and you can add your own components and stuff. Usually if the components are not compatible it will warn you and stuff so nothing to worry about there. Ibuypower.com and Cyberpowerpc.com are some of the companies listed on this site that i know of.

Forfit
@Fozzy - Newer cards like that, they generally run hot. If you want it cooler, you can buy a fan for it or blow another fan right on it.

Also, one of the 120 mm case fans is pointed directly at it from the factory, as long as the fan on the card.
anus
I have two PS2 controllers with me, and I only use one for my PS2, and I don't play much multiplayer with my PS2, so I have stopped using the other controller. I wanted to know if it's possible to convert a PS2 controller to a PC USB one without buying an adapter or anything at all. I have a lot of USB cord with me. Thanks. Dalpura
@ Warlord - I think I read something about doing something like that a while ago, it wasn't to a USB plug though, but to a parallel plug I think it was. I had a quick Google around and didn't really find anything. If you look here though you'll see they're really quite cheap and doing it yourself would hardly (if at all) be worth it. @ Stevo - You can use VitrualDub. Basically select the part you want out of a video file, then File -> Save as Image Sequence. Failing that, you can use Fraps and just screen cap over and over and over while playing the video file you want to use. That's what I did before I discovered VD. My question: I used to run dual screens, and now I'm using only a single. A few apps I use decide that when they're not maximised, they want to move over to where the desktop would have been on my second monitir. Is there anyway to move them back? I've tried right clicking the task bar and 'move' but it doesn't seem to want to. If there's an easy solution it'd be good to know, because I really don't fancy undoing the mess of wires where that second monitor is now.
Cran.
@Dalp maybe just disable the second monitor? Then it'll be forced to come up on the only and primary monitor.
anus
Dalpura, I would buy a converter if I could, but there aren't any place here that sell them, I've looked around for weeks, and didn't find a place. ThaddeusMcKlown
Hey. Quick query: Which is the faster internet connection: Optimum Online Cable, or T1? I might be getting a T1 line from my dad's company. And what's the fastest connection in the world? Forfit
I'm not 100 percent but i believe T1 can support faster speeds, but isn't it tons more expensive? As for the fastest connection....I read in an article somewhere a few months back about some colleges or something that sent an insanely large file from coast to coast in a few seconds. I tried googling it right now but couldn't come up with much.
