Godfather Trapani 0 Posted September 14, 2003 Share Posted September 14, 2003 Okay, one time when I went to gta3.net, I was checking out the map mods section for Vice City, and I noticed a map mod called "Marks Fun Island". I downloaded it and installed it. When I ran the game, I was unable to start it up. The game simply did not work. I tried reinstalling the game. That did not work. I tried unistalling it, clearing out the entire Vice City foldrr and the Vice City user files folder, then installing the game. It did not work. I tried a full system restore, and that did not work. I tried just deleting the file that defines the options settings in the User Files folder. That did not work. What can I do to solve the problem? I am running off of Windows XP Home Edition, my RAM is at 256, my ROM is sufficient for the game to function, and my processor is an Intel P4. I was able to function the game properly before installing the map mod. I have had only one other map mod in the game, and that was ODIE's beach park. That works perfectly. All of the vehicle mods that I have installed worked properly, along with all of the texture mods I have made or installed. Vice City has only been corrupted by Mark's Fun Island. Plus, no one should go through all that work to make a game work And one stupid letter combination: OMFG! Sensory man I had no idea you were still active here, I thought you left ages ago. Godfather Trapani 0 Posted October 9, 2003 Author Share Posted October 9, 2003 Okay, I used the provided installer, but before I used it, I looked over the installer script and made copies of any files that were modified. Afterward, I installed the mod. When I discovered how it had f*cked up my game, I went through the installer script and located & deleted all of the files that were added but not originally there. After I was done with that, I deleted all modified files and replaced them with the pre-mod copies I had. The pre-mod copies were located in a safe, untargeted folder in which the installer could not manipulate them. Still, the game did not work. After unistallation and installation, the game did not work. After deleting the options file in the "GTA Vice City User Files" folder in "My Documents", the game did not work. After system restoration, the game did not work. After completely deleting the Gtand Theft Auto Vice City directory folder and all its contents then installing it, the game did not work. After deleting the Rockstar Games folder and all of its contents then installing Vice City, the game did not work. This is all I can tell you. Please make something of it. I know man, anyways its logic: If your boot drive is C (ie your windows folder is C:\Windows) then you cant format it...
