posting your system specs would help...

chances are your graphics card doesn't meet the minimum specs...

go to start/run & type in dxdiag.

when thats finished loading, click on the 'display' tab at the top of the screen.

there should be a box there called 'device' that tells you all about your graphics card.

tell us the the name, manufacturer, chip type & approx total memory

Sounds like a corrupt directx file. uninstall and reinstall directx. While you are at it, also install the latest drivers for your video card.

first make sure u have a decent video card w/ the newest drivers installed properly... if game doesn't starts, go to BIOs and change the graphics ape size to 256 Mb (or the largest that's available)... save and restarts and see if the game works now...

I wouldnt recoomend anyone to run VC on anything less that this:

P3 667

384 SD Ram

64 MB GF4 MX440

otherwise youre stuck with bad framerates.

oh and yea, forget about playing Vice City untill you get a graphics card with atleast 16MB Ram, i suggest the Geforce 4 TI series for low cost and tolerable performance. (dont buy Geforce4 MX, you might aswell save some money and buy a Geforce2 PRO for same performance)

just my 2 cents.

"Agh! Your stupid computer needs an upgrade!"

but seriously, post your system specs and we'll see what

alternatives you have besides digging deep and digging hard

to pay for a decent graphics card.

I have a 4mb vid card and i can still play Vice City smile.gif but im gettin an alienware soon

i thought vice city/gta3 refused to run if you had less than the minimum vram.

i really can't be arsed trying out this theory on my old 2mb ati rage card:sigh:

yeah, anything over a radeon 9000 would run the game perfectly.

i'd say the minimum cpu would be closer to 800mhz tho

i run with 30 (average) 25 (minimum) 50 (maximum, airport only) FPS...

so why 800?

Pentium class 700< MHZ CPU is enough.

what make is your graphics card?

vc was barely playable for me on a 32mb integrated card, which while s***, would be a lot more advanced than any 4mb graphics card out there.

no offense, but i just can't believe you, you must have your specs wrong

No, cant be right.

GTA:VC simply refuses to run (not because it cant, but because VC checks how much ram you have) with less than 16 MB Ram.

Maybe youve got it wrong.

open DXDiag and tell us how much RAM on your graphics card it says youve got.

well when i go to see how much mine is its a 4mb Intel 3d card. so im doing it right confused.gif

well, intel only make integrated gfx cards afaik, and these are notoriosly s***.

chances are it uses 32-64 mb of your main memory when you're playing a game & then drops that to 4mb when that much vram wouldn't benifit system performance (web browsing/office work etc)

also, my old onboard 82810e gave wrong figures in windows 98... are you running '98?

Im running XP this computer Had Melinium. Well im not too concerned all i know is that it plays ok. Its kinda choppy and such but it plays ok. RAM wise i have 128. but my video card is 4mb

gah, just admit that you're wrong ffs.

vice running on a 4mb graphics card is nigh on impossible, a 4mb intel one... that'd be a miracle

Well i may be wrong but going by Gateway's tech support instrustions to see and its 4 mb. it says

Intel 82810E Graphics Controler

Chip Type - Intel 82810E

DAC Type - Internal

Memory Size - 4mb

so if that isnt right i dont know. but vice City does in fact run so does GTA 3.

MVP baseball however does not

Cant be, youre wrong.

Or youre lying, i cant tell for sure.

VC running on a 4MB gfx card AND only 128 MB Ram AND only be a "little choppy" is impossible

Hmmm, y'know what. I have a feeling that the vice specs are actually the same as GTA3. R* just upped the minimum requirments because people were complaining it wouldn't run on a P-3 450Mhz. Well, I got a Pentium 3 450Mhz, 256 Mb of RAM, and a 64 Mb Radeon 7500 video card. My brother's friend bought vice for PC. I'll borrow it, try it on that machine, and get back to you with a report.

Dude it isn't actually a 4MB graphics card it probably shares system RAM with it making it 32MB, but I agree that it would be quite choppy.

Well im not lying to ya thats for sure and well i guess its a bit more than kinda choppy but it isnt so bad as to the point that i cant play the game but well with my new pc (128 mb video card) and 500 somethin ram I think ill be a ok
