Anyone who thinks WWE is better than ECW is on crack. I mean come on. God that video I just watched reminded me how great wrestling was once. Sandman used to kick so much ass.

ECW was ok.Sure guys like Sandman and Sabu put their bodies..er..lives on the line,but it got real boring,real fast.

 

The production value of ECW events was just awful.Even the last McMahon sponsered ECW event was terribly cheap.

 

I have always enjoyed the outside of the ring stuff more than the actual wrestling....with a few exceptions.ECW brought me none of that.Just a bunch of guys I didn't know smashing each other on the head with various objects.

 

I'll admit I kinda liked the cheese grater,but I'd much rather watch a match like Bret Hart vs Bulldog ..for example.

 

And ya,next weeks RAW is goona go thru the roof.

 

I'm starting to wonder of Edge and Hardy,which one is on his way to SD?....I'm going with Edge and Lita leaving for SD.

 

..and I think Bischoff is gonna win.Should be interesting to see how they do it.

If we are talking about old WWF when they actually wrestled then sure, that was great, but come on. Since when did production value matter if something was good? Who cares if ECW looked cheap. It was still entertaining as hell. I liked how there were no rules and no boundaries. I found it all exciting. When WWE bought that, I started to not like wrestling anymore and now I don't at all except for the old stuff. Now all they do now is focus on crappy cheesy predictible storylines. What happened to the good storylines?

One Night Stand was deliberately done with low production value to give it an authentic ECW feel. I love how they focused on wrestling, and, aside from their horrible video game, no wrestlecrap ever came out of it. Had they toured more outside their territory and gone into larger venues, they could have competed with WWE.

 

Vince's purchase of WCW and ECW and the roster split marked the end of the Attitude Era. Now we're in...let's just call it the brand extension era. With a few exceptions, it's overall a dead spot, though nowhere near as bad as 95-96.

 

The Internet, TV ads, and promos for upcoming shows in my area have unfortunately spoiled a lot of next week for me. Still looking forward to most of the matches and the return of the legends, tho.

Fair enough but I saw a great match between Flair and Angle just weeks ago.

Show and Snitsky was decent last RAW.

 

Sheldon Benjamin is a huge talent.He has had some great matches

 

How bout Hardy and Edge at the PPV?

 

My point is we're still seeing some great matches.

 

No doubt some of the storylines are cheesy but thats what makes the WWE what it is.Remember Sparky Plugg? .....they are not afraid to be corny as heck....alot of the time..it works.

Yeah that one was for N64. That game ruled. I love those old WCW/NWO Revenge and M<ercy games on N64. Just brings back memories of past things in WCW like the Flock.

Sparky Plugg did not get over. Sad thing is, I'd rather see Bob Holly as a mullet-wearing racecar driver than the bitter, bland stiff yutz he is today.

 

I don't care if some characters are cheesy. I personally love the Simon Dean gimmick. Every once in a while we need a Sparky Plugg or Berzerker or Max Moon or Mantaur to keep ourselves from taking this stuff too seriously. It's when they make the crap angles the main focus of the show (Katie Vick, David Arquette as WCW champ) or when extremely talented wrestlers get saddled with these horrible gimmicks (Terry Taylor as the Red Rooster) that promoters cross the line.

 

If you were talking about Show/Snitz from this last Raw, that was probably the worst street fight I've ever seen. Very few weapons, nobody blades, and Show is not the guy to carry Snitsky to a decent match. Monday's Raw was pretty uneventful, basically just a way to set up next week, which should kick 7 kinds of ass.

Ok..so maybe Show/Snitz wasn't the greatest but I liked it.They bashed each other pretty good with the G-cans.

 

I just like watching Show do stuff.He is too big to do anything so it always impresses me.

anyways...I think they may be on to something with this kinda sorta PPV.We'll see how Monday goes down but 2>4 of these per year might be a good idea.

Sparky Plugg was an awful gimmick.Especially when it truned out Holly could not drive worth a crap.I think they(WWF) ran an ARCA car back then for him.

 

Hardcore is a touch better but the guy can't talk so good.I learned to really dislike the guy on Tough Enough.He came off as a real A-hole

I hate the Sacramento UPN affiliate. This is like the 4th time in 5 weeks Smackdown got preempted for the Giants. They're not even going to be at .500. Thank God there's like 2-3 games left in the season. But then there's basketball, and people are fanatical about the Kings here.

 

It's official. TNA has replaced Velocity. I was looking forward to what I read in the spoilers, with Benoit vs. Regal and Nunzio & Vito vs. London & Kendrick (who are apparently now calling themselves Insult 2 Injury).

 

The good news is, Simon Dean's now on a ppv. The bad news is, he's going to get El Squasho.

 

They're running the Top 10 Raw moments on USA right now. They even brought back Sean Mooney for a retrospective on the first episode. I remember that one...Max Moon, Damien Demento, Heenan in disguise trying to get into the building...Rob Bartlett, the announcer who absolutely sucked the meat missile.

We get that greatest moments show tonight after the big "USA return".Abit of a conflict for me as tonight is also ultimate fight night on SPIKE

 

I watched the TNA SPIKE debut on Sat.

 

Not bad but not good either.I need a little more time to get into it I guess.The ring shape is interesting.I recognize almost all the rasllers but something was missing.

 

Tito Ortiz as a rassler?...that might be interesting

 

I think I am a cheesy storyline addict :eek:

 

But I do like the idea of some competition for the WWE.

 

I used to get the same "pre-empting" years ago for Blue Jay games.I just loved it when the Jays were 43-82 :rolleyes:

TNA disgusts me. AJ pwns and the 3-way was pretty good, but everything else was horrible. Monty Brown is apparently some sort of cross between Goldberg and Koko B. Ware, and they cover up his poor workrate by having him squash in under 2 minutes, the classic Warrior trick. Jeff Hardy vs. Rhino should have been good, but all people have been saying about Jeff is officially true. That match was ended far too soon thanks to a run in by one of the worst wrestlers alive today, Abyss. Even Sabu couldn't save that segment. Some ridiculous storyline gives Jarret back the (ugly, nondescript, looks more like a regional TV title) TNA world title, his lackeys are all dull as dishwater, the Dudleyz have no personality now that they're not the Dudleyz anymore, and...God help us...KEVIN NASH shows up! TNA's early days may have even been better than most of that card.

 

If you want something to compete with WWE, that would be Ring of Honor. The company is based almost entirely on workrate, and nearly all the wrestlers have plenty to spare. They're not making ECW's mistake of trying to grow in too short of an amount of time, though they should look towards expanding both the TV audience and tour more around the country to get more fans into it.

WOW , Raw was great.

 

I loved every bit of it.

 

The Pipers Pit segment sucked a little bit in my oppinion , Randy came out right when they were talking about Mick Foley returning to the ring.

Plus the fact that Piper was a SUPER babyface didn't make me happy.

 

Stone Cold Stunning the Mcmahon family was priceless , but i wanted to at least hear shane say something.

 

The Legends beating the sh*t out of Conway was great , i loved seeing Snuka do the Superfly.

 

Hogan's bit was too short , but i hope we realy do get to see Stone Cold Steve Aautin vs. Hulk Hogan.

 

As for the matches :

 

Edge/Hardy , they are totaly screwing Hardy in every way!!

He should've gone to TNA.

 

Bra & Panties was quite entertaining

 

HHH/Flair vs. Masters/Carlito was great but i'm still wondering why HHH was saying all those things to flair("you think im gonna let this slide" etc etc.)

 

Angle/HBK was awsome , to bad they didn't do the sudden death match.

 

Cena/Bischoff sucked.

 

 

 

Overall i give this show a 9.5 out of 10

(It could have gotten a 10 but seeing Mae Young in her bra wasn't pleasent and i also did'nt aprove of them cutting off right when SD! & RAW was kicking each others asses)

It just started here, and it's off to a promising start. I just wish the Ortons and the announcers would have played up Bob's history with Piper a little more during that segment. And they really should do the old school Piper's Pit set, complete with the backdrop.

 

Iron man match was good, but I wish they had gone to sudden death.

 

So Linda brought the family together again. Good to know, since last I saw Shane and Steph, they both had a major beef with Vince. Steph got herself back into shape for tonight. That's the best I've seen her in quite some time. Linda took her Stunner horribly. She didn't even let Austin get a hold of her.

 

Seeing the Austin/McMahon feud rekindled tonight just shows how pathetic the Cena/Bischoff feud is by comparison. Aside from Cena not being able to carry Austin's jock, Bisch isn't pulling his weight either. Yes, he's a really good on-screen character, but it just isn't believable, as we know he's just a character, and still just a sycophantic lackey, whereas McMahon truly is the boss.

 

There were some tight spots in the ladder match tonight, though other sites spoiled it for me. I just hope Matt can do something on Smackdown now.

 

Yes! Yes! YEAS! We saw DiBiase after all! But Jimmy Snuka, you're better than that.

 

And once again HHH is the most hated heel on the roster. I wish one of the legends, especially someone like Dusty, Race, or Von Erich, who all had a history with Flair, would have gotten involved. That would pwn.

 

After that humiliating "komedy" moment pursuing Mae Young, Snuka had the highlight of the segment hitting the splash on Conway. All we needed was for DiBiase to shove some money down his throat. That was truly a great moment, tho. I'd love for some of these guys to come back full time. I just wish Earthquake was in there. He almost has his cancer beaten, and is currently living in Texas, so he would've gotten quite a pop to say the least. Also, no Steamboat or Jake the Snake. Koko B. Ware's bird is apparently now stuffed. He's a lot shorter than I remember him being.

 

WWE's been in Texas for like the last month or so.

 

Even if they cut out the clusterf*ck that was the bra & panties match, there would not have been enough time for a 6-man tag. No worries, that match will probably be on Smackdown. "Suffer through a lackluster performance?" Nah, even Batista isn't bad enough to screw up that entire match. Still, nice promo by Bischoff during that match.

 

Hogan vs. Austin, it's been talked about for quite some time. Still, you don't call out Austin in Texas, even if you are Hogan. Hey, I used to have one of those Hogan wrestling buddies. Back on topic, if Hogan does come back for another match, I want it to be against Orton. That's a legend I'd like to see Randall kill.

 

Damn, they cut away during teh brawl. I I heard RVD was backstage tonight. When's he coming back anyway?

 

They're showing the Raw Top 10 again now. I wish WWE would go back to that 5th floor of the Manhattan Center just one more time. That would be so nostalgia.

Steamboat was there.He had a headful of grey hair.I barely recognized him..but it was him.I think I saw Greg Valentine in there also.

Conway's bit was super.Great idea for him to get humbled by the legends.

I agree,Steph looked pretty good....for her.All I saw was generic shots of the crowd during the Steph and Linda stunners.It was on before 10pm my time.Before they can't show that.After 10,anything goes.

 

Its ok to show Flair with a crimson mask getting a "horrible beating" but no rough stuff on the brass ladies.Ok to show a bra and panties match .....crazy world

Kerry von Erich was in the WWF from 1990-92. He was at the time known as the Texas Tornado, and briefly traded the IC title with Mr. Perfect. He was pretty over up until his drug problem spun further and further out of control.

 

Judging by what Vince said last night, I have a feeling WWE will get away with a lot more on USA than they did on Spike. Perhaps they'll try to revive the Attitude era once more. The fans sure were fond of all those Austin moments.

I don't think they can FULLY revive the Attitude era , i don't think they can even come close.

That faze of WWE is over ..... i just don't see this current WWE in the Attitude era.

Having SCSA wrestle full time again would help but that wouldn't be enough.

 

But if they manage to pull it off , they will get alot more viewers.

 

 

@Smashdamnit: that Angle chair incedent was done by THE ROCK and that was funnier than the one Angle did.

I agree, you need 2 things to have the attitude era again. Stone cold Steve Austin wrestling, and DX. That will never happen and if it did, it would never live up to what it was. I would still like to see Stone Cold back though.

Even without Austin, they can try. They need to be a little more edgy without being over the top stupid (*cough*KatieVick*cough*). They can have a little more wiggle room on USA, I think. Also, their ratings were always better there, so that's a good sign, though they will have to compete with Monday Night Football for a while.
