Yah that belt sux.....

NWA-TNA......I like that place.....but what I dont like is the fact that the only guys that try for the championship belt are Monty Brown and Jeff Hardy.....they clearly dont have enough people to challenge for that belt...on the other hand though the X division is great......more than enough people for that division....that NWA situation is the exact opposite of WWE....WWE has more bigger guys that could get the championship belt and the same guys feuding for the cruiser weights title....I hate that division...

The only guys in TNA who impress me are AJ Styles and Raven. Jeff Hardy used to be good, but drug problems affected his performance and motivation to where he would put on horrible matches one night, and the next night he'd try too hard to make up for it. I hope he doesn't end up like Marty Jannetty, obscure, addicted, and on the verge of suicide. Monty Brown is terrible, he's like a black Goldberg. Jeff Jarrett was great once, but now he's way past his prime, and Dusty Rhodes was past his prime in 1990, yet the company still revolves around them. Nobody knows how to sell. They either give no reaction whatsoever or if they get a simple right hand, they stagger around like they've been shot. And Vince Russo is coming up with the same braindead storylines that destroyed WCW.

I wish WWE would let their high flyers do their stuff. RVD is killer, he blends acrobatics, martial arts, and plain old brass balls to put on classic matches. Unfortunately, the WWE is afraid he'll injure himself or someone else, so they cut back drastically on his style. I'd also love to see Sandman come in, he was ECW for a long time. Also Sabu, but he apparently has an attitude and stirs up sh*t backstage. The cruiserweight division, if it ever gets any effort, could be amazing. Unfortunately, Noble was just fired and he was one of the better ones, while Tajiri and Hurricane, probably the 2 best cruisers in the company, are not in a position to challenge for the belt (though I do like Tajiri's team with Rhyno. They do have great chemistry for a random oddball team, and it basically shows ECW pride).

Well youknow RVD has been known to work stiff on many a wrestler.....they respect him but they aint jumpin at a chance to start a program either...

I was watchin galavision the other day...you ever watch that leper...we get that channel here.........anyway i was watchin a TNA match on a AAA show...it wasSonjay Dutt...who is dope as f*ck and Jerry Lynn vs. 2 AAA wrestlers....they taped it at a TNA event and showed it on the AAA show....galavision has some tight wrestling shows....

Oh, I forgot about Jerry Lynn. He is also very good, and very underrated.

I've seen the lucha libre wrestling on Galavision. AAA is pretty cool, but the one I really like is CMLL. They make the 6-sided ring work, mostly have 6-man elimination matches with lots of spots, and really funky over-the-top costumes and characters. Did you see the Chucky midget? He looks bloody awesome. I hear that down in Mexico, unmasking your opponent is the ultimate form of disrespect, and wrestlers have actually been killed for doing it.

A lame WWE joke:

Q: Who did Rhyno vote for in the 2000 election?

A: GORE! GORE! GORE!

(he was, after all, one of the Conquistadores along with Rob Conway at one point).

I did not know that. wow.gif

I've watched the Lucha Libre on Galavision if I have the time, some awesome matches and sick bumps. Too bad I can't understand Spanish... sad.gif

Heidenreich is such a waste of time, whats the deal with these poems he keeps writing?

Im not really too big a fan of John's, but to be honest I could understand the hate for his first WWE appearances...but seriously, hes doing a pretty good job of pulling off the psycho sid type heel....he's been great on the mic for what he has to say, he's getting the heat that he never got before....and I think its mainly because of how intense and into his segments he is...he isnt letting anything effect his performance.

I dont think hes special or anything at all, I just think he deserves a bit more credit for now....we know he can pull moves off, he does a mean supershoulderbreaker....but can he sell, that is the question... probably not.

Yeah, Heidenreich is doing really well with his character, and he's great with facial expressions and getting into character and such. I just don't like what I've seen of his wrestling ability though. confused.gif

A cruiser weight division in WWE would be the sh*t. They really need to add that. It would add some well needed variety. It frustrates me everytime cruiserweights come up in a wrestling discussion because it's such and obvious decision. Dont tell me it doesnt sell either because the cruiserweights put the greatest shows youll ever see in the ring. It doesnt matter how good your mic skills are or how youre character is. Thats whats so great about the division. If you got the ring skills you sell tickets.

NWA is good for one thing....AJ Styles

@Mateo - I was thinking the same thing about Eddie's shirts. They got some great shirts for him.

Thats sorta the catch though, they do put on a great match, in wcw it was ALWAYS the show stealer...that or midcarders like raven/jericho/benoit.

But still, skill really doesnt sell.....size and skill sells....but as awesome as cruiserweights are, they arent selling the tickets.....ticket sales, when wrestling is booming, is usually determined by 2 or 3 big names....they fill the seats, cruiserweights get to make thier names.

As for putting on the greatest show, true, sometimes.....but nothing can be beat by two totally over heavy's going head to head....even if some arent the most skilled in ring talents...talent can sometimes be an exception (Hogan vs Anyone...moreso Hogan/Rock at mania)

At the end of the day, yes, I want to see a seperate cruiserweight division too.

As far as AJ goes....if he comes to WWE, cruiserweight is the last place he will be....they will probably "WWE" him up like they did with Orton, and Maven and others that got massive over a couple years.

I'm in that sorta-kinda postion. I like the heavy whight amd the cruiser whight also. When I was little I wish I could be a cruiser but them dounuts caught up to me now I 'm a massive Heavy whight I think the equaly sell out the arena in my opinion. People want to see high-flying short guys like Spike and Rey. But the need an even amount of big dudes like Luther and Big Show. But I luke watching the cruisers fight the heavies. Like Big Show tring to catch is breath after each move made by Rey.

No. Just no, the cruisers are better off facing other cruiserweights, that way they put on an excellent match. Seeing a big guy like Big Show face Rey (which is so overdone) is quite boring now, and the same thing always happens. Opposed to two cruiserweights going head to head, where they do some crazy stuff and they always try out new moves every match. Always fresh with cruiserweight battles.

I saw some more TNA on Friday...bleh. Abyss is at least the world's third-worst wrestler. Just a Mankind ripoff who has no concept of what the term "mobile" means. They announced a 4-man tournament for the #1 contendership, I hope to God it's not Abyss vs. Monty Brown. Doesn't matter, I won't be watching.

There needs to be a balance between big guys and cruisers. The WWF needed guys like Hogan and Andre in the 80's to inspire awe and put their superstars and subsequent personas over as "bigger than life". As great as Rick Steamboat was, he could not have sold out arenas. Still, they picked their ratings up again when they got some smaller, more mobile guys in the title picture. Bret, Austin, Rock, and HHH are not small, but they are not monsters either. The problem with the traditional big guy match was that it was largely too predictable. Heel enters to huge heat, face enters to huge pop. Face punches heel a few times to get crowd psyched up. Heel beats on face for 10-15 minutes straight. Face makes big comeback, slams heel, and gets pin. When the main eventers started getting smaller, they were more agile, had more nearfalls, reversal sequences, submission sequences, and momentum changes at a quicker pace that kept the fans watching the entire match without deciding to run to the bathroom or the concession stand.

Agreed. The only way you can be over at an arguably 'small' size of wrestler like a Bret, Hbk, Jericho, Austin and HHH even at a point....the only way to be over is to just be damn special. To have it all.....if you lack anything vital as a small guy, like an Aj Styles if he ever takes Heavyweight in WWE....luckily he doesnt really lack much...he's the type of little big guy that could really make it.

I hear you and what youre saying. What about Eddie though? He is certaintly not a big guy. That really doesnt defeat your point but Eddie I think would be a prime example.

Back to AJ Styles....how much longer do we have to wait for him to come to the good side? It gets frustating watching such a good wrestler being held down by sh*tty ass nobodys. He is the phenominal one and he's going up agains phenominally bad talent.

Yeah, Eddie and Benoit may be considered, but I dont find there mic skills up to the par of the guys I mentioned....Eddie is better on the stick that Benoit, but Eddie is really slow(on the mic) and I dont get much out of his bit....still love the guy though, terrific wrestler.

AJ is killer, but still, he wont be getting some Uberpush once he makes it, he is quite small, not much bigger than WcW Jericho..

This past week, I've been completing an upcoming TV special about a one-time NHLer who used to play for the Rochester Americans. I was riding in the production van when it pulled up at the Rochester War Memorial Auditorium and I was instantly struck by memories of many great matches I had there, many of them involving Stone Cold Steve Austin.

While storylines suggested Steve and I had an intense, bitter rivalry, we were always close friends who had a deep mutual respect.

I sat down on the front steps of the Rochester War Memorial and gave Steve a call.

Turns out, he has a part in the remake of The Longest Yard and was talking to me from the set in L.A. When I told him where I was calling from, he chuckled almost deviously and we enjoyed swapping old war stories.

I asked Steve if he has any plans to return to the ring and he said he's been feeling it in his knees and neck lately. And he's not sure if it'd be worth risking injuring himself at this point in his career. But never say never in wrestling.

We joked about whose knees are worse -- mine or his -- and recalled that when I needed to have knee surgery for real, we had a story angle in which Steve was all fired up after losing to me at Wrestlemania XIII. He viciously attacked my knee with a chair on Raw the next night in Binghamton, N.Y., so I could go home to have my knee taken care of.

We talked about the present state of the business and we both had similiar sentiments: Realism is severely lacking and, for me, it's the realism I always loved about the business.

Our matches and interviews were never overly rehearsed and no script writer could have invented a Stone Cold or a Hitman match as well as Steve Williams and I did.

Wrestling shouldn't be reduced to a formula written by someone else to be followed by wrestlers because then the result will never come across as genuine. Pro wrestling should be an art form so wrestlers can tell stories in the ring again.

Just before we got off the phone, Steve Austin invited me down to visit him in Texas to go wild boar hunting. Something tells me that will be quite a tale.

I think thats pretty f*cking cool.

Bret rules, and he's totally right. Realism is totally lacking in today's product. We need some real storyilnes, none of this wedding and baby crap. We need some killer rivalries that last a year or so like the old days.

A Stone Cold return is always good for ratings and good for a pop.

A Bret Hart Return....I dont even have to say anything.

Both return at WM XXI......oh sh*t.

No Mercy was straight. London/Kidman match was pretty damn good. RVD and Rey looked good working together. I was expecting that big oaf to screw with the ending of that match but the very last segment caught me off guard and got me thinking.....

We have the Dead Man....who is really only Semi dead. If this made him...dead-er.....hmmmmm

Sorry for talking so vaugly, I was too lazy for spoiler tags...lol.

I loved that old Bret/Austin feud. They had such clashing, different styles, but integrated into some classic matches. And Bret's right, that Hart Foundation feud told one of the best stories ever.

Protestors with nothing better to do have been showing up at WWE shows.

Burlington, Vermont - October 2, 2004

The World Wrestling Entertainment tour rolled into Burlington Saturday night for it's "Raw Live" show at Memorial Auditorium. And just like years past, Wrestling fans faced off with protestors. Those opposed to W-W-E style wrestling say it promotes homophobia and violence against women. The group points to a display just before the show took place -- where a male and female wrestler reportedly pretended to fight for fans.

"If they see it glorified that way, it re enforces that that's a good way or acceptable way to treat somebody in their life and it's not," said Wendy Huff, who opposes pro-wrestling.

But wrestling fans say the protesters are ridiculous and that wrestling is purely entertainment.

"We know what's fake and what's real," said George Carpenter. "We can understand it. Nobody's actually getting hurt in the ring. It's entertainment. That's all there is to it."

According to police, there were no major clashes between the fans and protesters.

I thought protesting wrestling went out of style in 2000.

Argueably one of the best storylines ever, all revolving around that era of Hart Foundation....it seemed like it when on forever....and I loved every minute of Bret as heel....he may have been the most over heel in the states, by far. And such a change coming back up here where he is the jesus of wrestling tounge.gif

Yeah I heard No Mercy was pretty good, Apparently everyone did thier thing pretty well, even Little Johnny.

Raw is gonna be a good one tonight.

Yeah no doubt, I read it yesterday, the stretcher part definatly sounded killer.

I didnt actually read how the show match turned out, I just know he won...showdown of the baldies.

From what I read, the show came off well. Most of the matches sounded good. I'm glad they finally put the kibosh on the Booker/Cena feud. But it does not make sense to have Cena go over, since he's supposed to film a movie over the next few months, and the title will once again be worthless (BTW, wasn't the last WWE-produced film No Holds Barred, which completely sucked?).

I don't mind JBL retaining, but I would have liked a clean finish. Now we have Heidenreich vs. Taker at Survivor Series. Taker's one of the greats, but that mainly comes from his mic skills and character, as he was never exactly a swan in the ring. He is not the guy you want to try and make crappy wrestlers look good.
