Forty
Are there ways to change the XP theme without downloading some nasty secondary program that takes over my OS? I know you can edit the Appearance tab in display properties but that takes forever...I just wanted to possibly download preexisting themes and just lay them into Windows without having to get WIndowsBlinds or ThemeX or whatever else. Yes, you just need to replace a .dll. Do you have SP1 or SP2 ?

Yep, just download a UXTheme patcher (all it does is patch uxtheme.dll to enable extra visual styles), then you can use msstyle themes. You just put the themes in C:\WINDOWS\Resources\Themes and they show up under the Appearance Tab in Display Properties. This is the simplest way to use themes that I know of. They don't have transparency or a few things that Windowblinds has, but they're cool nonetheless.
uNi
There's no need to put them in the folder, just double click the .msstyles you download and you're good to go.

Pranjal
Does anyone know if this works with X64 edition? A lot of stuff doesn't. Windows X has announced that Vista Transformation Pack 6.0 will be supported on 64-bit PCs. It will be out soon.

Lost-Fender
Great desktops! I've been looking for Vista themes and so far none have worked for me. Could you guys give me a link where you got that? Or a Vista themes which doesn't need any other programs (i've already patched the file at the beginning of the thread)? Thanks! I always use Vista Transformation Pack by Windows X. The biggest advantages are : no more Ram complaints, no more self patching, and being the closest possible imitation of Windows Vista. Don't install any other style themes, just click and enjoy(Ignore the warnings though which will crop up during installation). Download link here: Vista Transformation Pack 5.5 Remember to say Thanks to me You can check out other works by the same creator WindowsX here: Windows X shrine The Vista Transformation Pack works great so far, I haven't changed much else to my desktop. By the way, I found this a little interesting: Windows 1.0-XP Your desktop looks great! Could you tell me where you got your wallpaper? I like it. Or could you please send it to me using ImageShack, giving me the link via PM?
_-playero-_
I made a small vid of beryl effects. Mr. Hym.
Trying out WinMac Where you got that? I've been looking for something like that... I found it here, but it doesn't work nearly as well as the Mac menubar. You only get general options and it doesn't show options for your current window. WinMac, Vista Sidebar, ObjectDock, and a crapload of Yahoo! widgets. Edited December 21, 2006 by Mr_Hym
