TehCriminalMastermind 0 Posted August 18, 2004 I don't know if this has been said, but I didn't have any trouble beating the Driver. Just get a three-star wanted level before the race, and chances are the cops will end up popping Hillary's tires with the spike strips. Mine got popped too, so I stole another car. If there's too many cops, just try to plan some Police Bribes into the route, if there are any.
Bluntman & Chronic 0 Posted August 18, 2004 The Driver I have not found any of the strategies to be helpful (mostly frusterating). I had to try "The Driver" like 200+ times before I beat it. I beat it out of pure luck too! I was quickly approaching the Pole Position, hot on Hilarys trail. He made a turn on the inside, and I clobbered his tail. He went spinning out of contol anad got lodged between a building and an awning, leaving me free to finish the race unhindered.
Chunky Lee Chong 5 Posted August 18, 2004 The only tip I could give for The Driver is to drive as fast and as safely as possible without crashing or anything, and on the last turn go through the Police Bribe to save a few seconds.
BobMaster 0 Posted August 26, 2004 I really suggest doing the Vigilante missions in the Hunter. Train ur helicopter skills in the "sparrow checkpoint races". After you think u can manouver quite well with it, go and test the hunter. Now for the vigilante missions: -make sure u hover above the airfield when you start the mission, that way you won't have too much trouble from buildings. -starting it anywhere else just increases the challenge Some tips controlling it: 1. It's way faster then any other helicopter but remember putting your nose up, slows you down. 2. when you see the cars take a turn on the road, first turn your hunter straight with the raod they turned on, then push left or right to center yourself on the road. 3. ALWAYS use ur chaingun, it has auto aim, the rockets look cool, but are too hard to aim with. 4.If you are around the airfield, there are some long roads without turns, if you see them get on one of these roads, just fly to the other side of the road, and hover with your nose towards the car, now just let him get close and shoot him. 5. Don't EVER push down. 6.If u see yourself going straight into a building, tree or whatever, quickly pull up your nose and press up. Now, I can't call myself a super flyer in helicopters, I can get along, but even if you're not that good, it's alot easyer then with any other vehicle. Time is not an isue here, u can use the first 3-4 levels to test out the hunter and practice shooting the cars. After you reach lvl 5, you will probably have about 5-6 minutes time left, which is plenty of time in a helicopter. My latest run in the hunter, it was the first vigilante try in that game, I made it to vigilante lvl 45 and had about 63 minutes left on the clock Also, it's quite safe to use the chaingun, since it does not attract cops if you only shoot the criminals, U definitely will shoot some innocent bystanders, but by the time u have gotten 2 stars you would have passed lvl 12 allready. I had about 5 stars at lvl 45. I know the thing that scares people from the hunter is controlling the helicopter and above all his speed. The speed is superb to get to criminals a long distance away, it only takes 30-60 seconds to go to VC east and back to west. Once you are near the target, simply slow down, try to get behind him and if you're on a long road, drop down behind, keep going slow and when you are in range, start shooting. MOST importantly, NEVER freak out, just relax and u will be fine, AND NEVER PUSH DOWN Hope some of this helps. Greetz, --=={Bob}==--
chenjx1983 0 Posted September 15, 2004 i've got trouble getting 100% - i completed all the missions on Chunky Lee Chong's check list but only got 98% - i'm not suggesting that his list is not good (in fact i think it's great!) and i understand that nobody could really help me out because everyone's got their own circumstances of failing to get 100%, but there are two questions i think that might tell me the reason: 1) i know cheats don't affect the 100%, and i only cheeted once (to get a golf candy) in the game, but do MODS affect 100%? i got a lot of car mods (used some of them to complete some missions, ie the hotring race in the stadium) and one weapon mods (the deagle) installed. if using a MOD couldn't give points to the total complete percentage, can i redo them by using the original ones? 2) for the missions like "cone crazy" and "test track" (etc), do you have to break your record (at least once) in order to get the points, or you just finish the race no matter how long it takes? thx, guys, you know it is so flustrating when you put all the efforts in but couldn't get the result - i almost cried! ps: maybe it is helpful to post my states out? what do you think? I've heard that some cheats can effect the 100% rating, but I don't think mods can...seeing as how I've never modded my game, I can't say for sure. You don't have to beat your records on the timed events, as long as they are registred in the stats page then they should count Contact Dem through his Save N Play topic to help you figure out what you're missing. It might be something simple, like the shooting range...that's something I goofed on when I first got to 100%.

aliaz 0 Posted November 15, 2004 Seriosly, stop whining about The Driver - put a fast car by the first bridge and it won't disappear. Then swop and be a good driver ... Many mission are harder than this one. And for fun; do the vigilante in the Hunter and blast the suckers away with missiles. Do the Ambulance in Downtown - the roads are bigger there. And always go for the patient far away - gives you more time.
anus 448 Posted November 19, 2004 Before you do Vigilante in the Hunter you should learn how to fly it properly otherwise it's no use of doing Vigilante in it.
RBPDTWASJ2LCGH73 0 Posted July 10, 2005 um, houston, i think that if you passed 58%, then, my game's fffffff up or, i didnt complete all the challenges i remember i did all the missions up to diaz, every property (studio, taxis, etc) bought every single property, got 100 fares, 12 lvl emergency, but somethings were missing anyway, i got to a point where no more missions or capos appeared on the map, i was like WTF???? avery, cortez, the lawyer, no one, i think the last one was aunt paulete and, well, dunno who else, and i had 58% (first time playin vice city) then i erased it and im going for it again, havent reached that point yet. i have one question, the priest, does it really exist????? does he really give you missions????? someone told me to fly with the skimmer near the film studio and a ship would appear, and then i was supossed to drop there every time i completed one of his missions......... who knows
simps 0 Posted July 11, 2005 I'm not sure what you're missing and what you did. There are many thing to be done for 100%. There is no priest that you get missions from. Please refer to the 100% Completion Tic Sheet.

baja power 0 Posted August 2, 2005 If your TV company carries speedvision or some other channel like that.. take a Sunday morning, and watch a Formula 1 race. and i mean actually watch it, not just stare at the TV. drive like they do. the key to beating the driver is 1. using the best Path. ( the line) 2.carrying speed away from corners to straights ( corner exit speed) 3. efficiently slowing the car at the entry of a corner ( early braking) Simply put, the line is the optimum path around a race track. In corners this is usually the largest radius arc that can fit into the confines of the turn. the pic that follows shows the best line for cornering. see the corner as 3 radiuses R1, R2 and R3. ( hope you paid attention in Geometry back in HS ) your ideal path is along R3. you want to start the turn touching R2, scraping the inside of R1 and exit this will leave you with the fastest exit speed possible. I’ve gone on now.. if anyone wants. let me know and i will go into braking strategy and overtaking.

Xihix 0 Posted December 25, 2005 When you said there are no cheats for 'The Driver' there are. You can use Blow Up Cars when he's a little ahead of you, or Pedestrian Riot for the peds to kick him out.

You can use Blow Up Cars when he's a little ahead of you, or Pedestrian Riot for the peds to kick him out. Won't the blow up cars cheat kill him?? he has to survive-- he participates in "the job" Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the Peds Riot cheat cannot be turned off. So if you save it, its permanent and might make other missions hard or even impossible to complete-- and I believe his doors are locked so I don't think it would work anyway. tuned_in 0 Posted January 4, 2006 hi guys, have a question. i just finished "keep your friends close", so i thought i'd buy the two other assets that i wasnt able to buy, the boatyard and the car showroom asset. my problem is this, after i bought the car showroom, the only pink marker that appears is the one for the races. and after i won race 1, i went to the marker again, but it still said that the race available is race 1, not race 2. my time on race 1 was 1:03. why is this so? also, i know that there is a mission in the car showroom wherein you have to find specific cars for the asset to generate the money. but the marker for these missions does not appear anywhere. help? it would be greatly appreciated. thanks.
