mattponke 0
I have two drives in my computer, a dvd-rom and a cdrw. When I put the install disc in the dvd-rom, install shield pops up, and it freezes once the first green progress indicator shows up. And then this message shows up: ------------------------------------------------------- Grand Theft Auto:Vice City An error (-5003: 0x8004ace4) has occured while running the setup. Please make sure you have finished any previous setup and closed other applications. If the error occurs, please contact your vendor: Rockstar Games (http://www.rockstarnorth.com). I get component transfer errors: ---------------------------------------------------------- Component Transfer Error Component: GTA: Vice City File Group: App Executables File: E:\data2.cab Error: Incorrect Function ------------------------------ Component Transfer Error Component: GTA: Vice City File Group: GTA Vice City File: E:\gta-vc.exe Error: Incorrect Function. ------------------------------------------------------------ I bought this from circuit city, it's not a burned or downloaded version. WTF is going on!? Rockstar's creativity never fails to amaze me, but what kind of idiots are programming their software? Thanks for all your help! Matt
Atomic 0
Very intresting..... try copying the contents of the discs to your hard drive, then run the setup.exe on your hard drive. It shouldnt ask for the disc at all.

It shouldnt ask for the disc at all. Tried that. Get's around 1,500 bad sectors when ripping from the dvd rom, and around 40 bad sectors from the cdrw drive. Any other guesses? Thanks!
