Frrezing after intro

I just cant get to play this game....game freezes totally after intro and nothing happen even if i press alt+ctrl+del...

 

System specs:

p-4 1500mhz

256mb sdram

3dconnect radeon 9700 pro

SounBlaster Live!

Windows ME

ps. i have all the latest drivers and updates so it cant be that why it dont work

 

Any1 else have same problem with almost same System specs or windows or video card?

Happens only if I've modded and edited heavily. Try removing GTA Vice City User Files\gta_vc.set (in winXP, dont know where on winME). I made an image/iSO with Nero-Burning-Rom if I need any fatal files or complete recovery.

Have you edited the .gxt files for the text in notepad at all? Cos that would be it. Go to www.GTA-Resource.tk to get the original if necessary.

What resolution are you trying to run the game in??

 

If you have your resolution set higher than 1024 x 768 , then lower it to that and try.

well i noticed you had a p4,so i`m thinking do you need to install this,Intel chip software 5.00.1012.

check your mobo web site to see if you need it,as i have a p4 as well with an abit mobo and i have to put it in:-)

never had a prob with any game since.

 

not too sure if you need it for your mobo,but worth checking.

well i have tried every resolution with every colour depth....

and i havent change data folder or used any mods

I intermittantly get an error message after the intro movie has played (or when I stop it), I also got the same thing when running GTA3, the way I get round it, is by repeatedly pressing the space bar once I've started the game, this means that the intro does not get a chance to start and I don't get the problem.  Give it a try, but it may not work.

 

I've not really triedn mto solve it properly as the spacebar trick normally works.

well if his mobo has the intel 845 chipset,witch is integrated,then he will prob need the intel chipset drivers.

 

if he dont need it,it wont install anyway.

Well normaly it`s best to get the drivers from your mobo site.

oh well i tryed.

 

the only other thing i can think of is going to your mobo site and have a look at the bios update,see if it fixes something.

 

as the latest bios for mine corrects the power on the radion cards.

 

btw i hope you solve your prob.
