Analogue ?

Recommended Posts

mikeprice531

please help i have a wingman rumble cordless controller and want to set it up as per PS2 settings !

Although i cant seem to get teh thumb sticks to be analogue ! I am getting rather frustrated as there is no help anywhere on the web and wondering if anyone else has the issue ?

Is it just not supported for analogue controllers or am i missing sommit ?

thanx

I have one too, but not cordless, and the analog controllers work fine.  Recently I had to update my drivers for the controller because of a similar problem in another game.  Try updating the drivers from the Logitech web site and see what happens.

Analog works fine with the cordless Wingman. Didn't have anything to do. Just make sure the throttle (top right) is centered otherwise your character will keep spinning. And no, the rumble feature isn't supported in VC.

hiya

when you guys are talking about analogue control, do you mean for steering the cars etc, or are you talking about acceleration and braking?

i really wanted to have analogue accel and brake but only get it for walking  :/  and steering

ive got a gravis exterminator digital gamepad and get analogue steer but no anlogue acc/brakes

yes i am asking now to clarify one finer point which should clear up the post above too !

I got my analogue STICKS on my pad working but the accel / Brake dont seem to be "analogue" it is either full on or full brake , my sterring still seems to be digital too ?

does other ppl have the analogue CONTROL over driving or just the use of the analogue sticks on there controllers , sorry but this can be quite confusing i know

regards

Mike

Are the analog controls on the wingman touch sensitive?

So if you're in a helicopter and you just barely move the stick forward does the helicopter lean forward just that much or is it more like no matter pressure you put on the control it's just like a normal keyboard press?

Flying the helicopters using the keyboard is a pain, having to tap the forward key so it goes forward without doing a nose dive into the ground.

I was think about getting the Belkin Nostromo n45 gamepad, but when I called about asked about the sticks being touch sensitive, the tech said no it wasn't...I'd rather have one that is for better control

Now if GTA3 and/or VC can auto-detect the gamepad and set the sticks the way they should be, that would be a different story...but I don't know if it can or not.

Usually controllers with analog sticks have a button on it that will enable\disable the analog functions.  First make sure your controller is calibrated properly in windows, and you have the drivers for your controller set.  I use a Thrustmaster Firestorm Dual Power 3, and it works great for gta3.

I found this too ! a lil bit annoying and caused me to quit playing for 2 days ! Ive since started playing in standard controls using KB and mouse ! wasted meelf £40 ! ;)

Can i ask tho dude if i want to use the Wingman profiler do you have to leave the game controls as they are when it is shipped ?

Ive had problems with other games and this pad also and am a tad bit miffed now, in a rage last night i yanked the USB socket out of the PC as the pad wouldnt register and i kept spinning as usual ! bloomin thing !

anyone else got probs with this pad - lol and there was me thinking this method ( PC PAD ) would be easier than having any trouble tih a PS2 Pad and a convertor ! I reckon i was wrong ! :p Dont you ......oh well learn by mistakes huh !?!?!?!?

well the PS2 Pad and a convertor is the best thing i`v bought for the pc:-)

you can even use the third buttons on the analog sticks just press it down, just like on the ps2.

pad works as well as the analog sticks at the same time if you want.

rumble pack works on most games that support force feedback:-)

i`v also been told you can get it for $5 on ebay.

def worth getting never get a pc joystick now as there all crap lol.

if you want to play the game with a ps2 controller setup, then why didnt you just buy the ps2 version and make things simple?

even though it`s no concern of your`s i`ll answer anyway.

i do have the ps2 version but i think the pc is miles better plus you can get mods and stuff for it.

and the pc joypads suck big time thats why i`m glad i bought the ps2 hub.

as for the hub i was help him out saying he`s better off getting that for $5 rather than paying $50 for a joypad that dont work propley.and ps2 joypads are only $10,saveing of $35.

btw Atomic178 it looks like you troll this form just to flame.

Taf,

I'm not spamming/flamming just because I reply ALOT of topics at once doesn't mean im spamming or flaming. If it was spam it would be one word replies, but no I actualy put some thought into it before I said something. And how is it a flame? A flame is usualy with a hostile intent or some derogitory comment. I merely approached this subject from a sceptical point of view. If I offended you, then I appologize for it. But I do think its cool seeing my name 30 times in a row  :D.

Now onto the subject, I assume this is  a problem with a gamepad and not the normal computer joystick. Since I have a logitech Wingman joystick I have not had any problems with it. Though it is rather odd to try and drive with it. Only thing I can think of is to maybe download the newest service pack for your operating system and possible get the latest drivers for your gamepad, but surely you've already thought of those.

I looked at the Logitech Wingman and the Gravis Eliminator AfterShock today at Best Buy. But only looked.

Still not sure which to get, the Wingman, the Eliminator AfterShock, or Belkin's Nostromo n45.

I've noticed some people have complained about using a some gamepads while walking. Question; can you switch between using the KB/mouse and using the gamepad while in game?

I really just want the gamepad thinking I'll have any easier time flying, but I like the KB/mouse for everything else.

And before anyone says anything, I planned on getting a gamepad for other games that would be easier to play completely with it over using the KB/mouse.

sorry Atomic178,i read things the wrong way:-(

The thing is i`v never liked pc joypads, dont know why they all seemed to suck for me and cost a lot of money.

allways liked psx pads though.

Thats why i`m glad i got this hub as my ps2 joypad works no probs:-)

a lot cheaper as well:-)

also everything works perfect on it:-)have no probs at all.

thumb pad works as well as the analog sticks, also the rumble pack on the pad works with most force feed back games:-)

what i`m trying to say is that i`m very happy with this hub,as now i can config most games like the ps2 version:-)

and wolf68k.

[i've noticed some people have complained about using a some gamepads while walking. Question; can you switch between using the KB/mouse and using the gamepad while in game?]

i have no probs doing that with the hub and ps2 pad:-).

Taf,

Hate me if you must...better still feel sad for me, I know I do...I don't have a PS2.

I don't have any game console at all.

it sucks to be me :(

So I'm not sure it would be worth it for me to spend however much it is for a PS2 gamepad and then get the hub/converter/whatever thing just so I can use it on my PC.

I wanted to bump this post and find out if anyone else was using the Thrustmaster Firestorm Dual Power 3.  I can use it well enough to move Tommy around outside of the car, but when I get in, the analog is only used for steering, but not for acceleration/braking in a vehicle.

Is it possible to use an analog joypad for acceleration/braking?  Since you can use the stick to control how fast Tommy walks, I don't see why it doesn't work.

I've gotten the latest drivers/utilities and such from Thrustmaster, I'm just wondering if I'm having a weird configuration issue.
