Why most of the 3D Universe vehicles don't have manufacturers?

In the HD Universe, almost all the vehicles have their fictional brands (like Karin, Vapid and others), but in the 3D Universe just a few vehicles have their fictional brands and there's only a few brands, same goes for the 2D Universe. Vehicles like heavy trucks and buses is understandable, but cars like Banshee, Greenwood and Bobcat doens't have defined manufacturers.

I much preferred them this way. I find the manufacturers' names in GTA 4 and 5 stupid, and also the way the cars have been allocated is bizarre. I would expect certain manufacturers to only make one model of a car, or focus on certain group of vehicles. Instead, we have a bunch of manufacturers with poorly designed logos that almost all make estates, sports cars, military SUVs, aircraft... Stupid.

Historically, I think this was a more natural way of doing it. With GTA 3 only having a limited number of slots for vehicles, the developers probably tried to portray the most popular real-life models, which means that each real-life manufacturer would only be presented by one or two examples. Thus there was no reason to have in-game manufacturers.

Though the manufacturers existed in the games' universe independent from cars, Zaibatsu and Grotti spring to mind.

I have a theory that BOBCAT is meant to be the brand than the model. Not only do pickup trucks have the brand as opposed to the model written on the tailgate, but also most people refer to cars based on their make than their model i.e. "go pick up my ford" as opposed to "go pick up my ranger"

Also I think, at least in III and VC, Rockstar wanted it to take place within "our world" so, theoretically, Porsche and Lincolns etc could totally exist in the gtaverse at the time (one of the Love Fist songs written specifically for VC specifically mentions Porsches), or rather, the gta games could totally exist in our worlds like how III mentions The Exorcist by name, VC mentions Red Dawn by name etc. and it wasnt until SA did they finally start making their own true universe. That's when they started making more car brands like Grotti, Willard etc
