João13
10 hours ago, Airwolf359 said: FSR doesn't help in CPU bound scenarios. It is used to lower your graphics load or get better quality at high resolutions. Try frame scaling with TAA instead. GTA V is a relatively old game (from 2013) and does not use multi-core CPUs properly, that's why it only maxes out 1-2 cores. Good afternoon I'm only using the FSR's AA, I found the TAA to be very blurry and things in the distance look like vaseline . Marlom
The issue has really been fixed — congratulations, Rockstar Games! You resolved it quickly and efficiently. I noticed that the game is now using 100% of the GPU, as it should, and also consuming more VRAM — probably to improve performance. sutalu
I still have the issue Here a video. In real life, it's more noticeable. 00:00 - 0:30 - the stuttering issue 0:30 - 1:00 - a workaround (but it's a temporal solution) 1:00 - 1:34 - no stuttering I play with vsync ON with a 60Hz monitor, so I play with 60fps. Spider-Vice
The OP of a thread is the one who marks it as solved so it wasn't me - it said my name because it was my post that was marked as a "solution". I'll remove that tag, although I'm personally convinced there might be some other funkiness there with windowed borderless/fullscreen, which has been an issue in some DX12 games for years now. It's very OS, driver and GPU dependent when it happens. sutalu 1 Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/1000987-gtav-enhanced-stuttering-problems-thread-report-your-issues-here/page/4/#findComment-1072519525 Share on other sites

GTA V Performance Optimization and Troubleshooting Guide If you're experiencing stuttering, crashes, or performance issues in GTA V, follow this optimized troubleshooting guide to improve your experience. 1. Update the Game Ensure your game is fully updated to the latest version. Check for updates on your game platform (Steam, Epic Games, or Rockstar Launcher). 2. Verify Game Files Verify the integrity of your game files to ensure none are corrupted: Steam: Go to Library > Right-click GTA V > Properties > Installed Files > Verify integrity of game files. Epic Games: Go to Library > Click the three dots on GTA V > Manage > Verify. Rockstar Launcher: Go to Settings > Select GTA V > Verify integrity. 3. Reinstall Rockstar Launcher and SDK The Rockstar Launcher is crucial as it communicates directly with the game and can cause issues like stuttering or crashes if it's faulty. Uninstall the Rockstar Launcher and Rockstar Launcher SDK. Go to the Rockstar Games website and download the latest version. Install the launcher and log in with your credentials. Launch the game and check if performance improves. 4. Delete the GTAV Enhanced Folder Go to Documents\Rockstar Games and delete the GTAV Enhanced folder. This will reset certain settings that might be causing issues. 5. Clear NVIDIA Caches Clear NVIDIA cache files to ensure no old or corrupted data is causing slowdowns: Delete these folders: C:\Users\YourUsername\AppData\Roaming\NVIDIA\ComputeCache C:\Users\YourUsername\AppData\LocalLow\NVIDIA\DXCache C:\Users\YourUsername\AppData\Local\D3DSCache (delete as many folders as possible) C:\Users\YourUsername\AppData\Local\NVIDIA\DXCache (Replace YourUsername with your Windows username.) 6. Update Windows 11 Ensure your Windows 11 is up to date. Microsoft updates important DirectX and SDK files through these updates that GTA V relies on. 7. Check and Repair Windows .dll Files Run these commands in Command Prompt as Administrator to check and repair system files: To check system file health: DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth If errors are found, repair them by running: DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth To scan and repair system files: sfc /scannow 8. Clean Up Disk and Temp Files Clear unnecessary disk and temporary files that may be affecting performance: Disk Cleanup: Search for cleanmgr. Right-click and select "Run as Administrator". Select all available options and clean. Temp Folder Cleanup: Press Win + R, type %temp%, and hit Enter. Select all files (Ctrl + A) and delete (Shift + Del). System Temp Folder Cleanup: Press Win + R, type C:\Windows\Temp, and hit Enter. Delete as many files as possible (Shift + Del). 9. Optimize Your SSD/NVMe Drive If you're using an SSD or NVMe drive, optimize it for performance: Go to Settings > System > Storage > Optimize Drives. Select your SSD/NVMe drive and click Optimize. 10. Restart Your Computer Once you've completed all the above steps, restart your computer to apply the changes. 11. Recommended Settings, Drivers, and Versions Make sure your system is using the correct drivers and settings for optimal performance: NVIDIA Driver: 572.70 or higher. Resizable BAR: Enabled (search online for guides if unsure how to enable). Windows Version: Windows 11 24H2 26100.3476 or higher. Chipset Driver: Latest version for AMD Ryzen (AMD Ryzen Chipset Drivers 7.02.13.148 or higher). Optimizations for Windowed Games: Enabled. Hardware-Accelerated GPU Scheduling: Enabled (Settings > System > Display > Graphics > Change default graphics settings). 12. Disable Startup Programs Open Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc), go to the Startup tab, and temporarily disable all non-essential startup programs. This can help prevent conflicts caused by background applications or overlays. 13. Adjust Antivirus and Game Mode Settings Antivirus: If you use an antivirus other than Windows Defender, try temporarily disabling it to check if it’s causing any performance issues. Add the GTA V folder and .exe file to the antivirus exclusion list, especially if you're using a slow HDD. Game Mode: Ensure Game Mode is enabled (Settings > Gaming > Game Mode). Xbox Overlay: Disable the Xbox Overlay if not needed. NVIDIA Broadcast: Disable if you're using it, as it consumes significant GPU resources. 14. Test Rockstar Launcher Settings Go to the Rockstar Launcher > Settings, and temporarily uncheck the option to enable BattEye. This is just for testing purposes, as BattEye is required for online play. Be sure to re-enable it afterward if you play online. 15. Remove Unnecessary USB Devices For testing purposes, remove all USB devices from your computer except for those essential for gameplay, such as the mouse, keyboard, and headphones. Some USB devices or peripherals may cause conflicts that affect performance. 16. Adjust Sound Settings To optimize sound settings for better performance, follow these steps: Press Windows + R to open the Run box. Type "control panel" (without quotes) and press ENTER. Go to Hardware and Sound > Sound. Select your default sound device and click Properties. Go to the Advanced tab. Set the Default Format to 44.1khz 16bit. Click Apply, then OK to accept the new setting and close the dialog box. Click OK again to close the Sound settings. 17. Disable BitLocker (if active) If BitLocker encryption is enabled on your drive, it may be affecting read/write performance and putting extra strain on your CPU. For optimal game performance, it’s recommended to temporarily disable BitLocker. Here's how: Press Windows + X and select Disk Management. Right-click on your encrypted drive and select Turn off BitLocker. Follow the prompts to decrypt the drive. 18. Disable Spatial Sound Features Spatial sound technologies like Windows Sonic, Dolby Atmos, and DTS can sometimes impact performance. To disable them: Right-click the Sound icon in your taskbar. Select Sound settings. Under Advanced sound options, find your default audio device and click Properties. Go to the Spatial sound tab and select Off from the dropdown menu. Click Apply and then OK. 19. Check Game Performance Launch GTA V and see if the performance issues (like stuttering) are resolved. 20. Additional Steps: If the problem persists, follow these additional steps: Disable V-Sync and FPS Limiter in the Game Settings: Turn off both V-Sync and the FPS limiter in the GTA V settings menu. Set FPS and V-Sync via NVIDIA Control Panel: Open the NVIDIA Control Panel. Select GTA V under the "Manage 3D settings" tab. Apply an FPS limiter and enable V-Sync. After making these adjustments, try launching the game again. With the latest patch from March 13, many users with both weaker and stronger hardware have reported that their performance issues were resolved, and they can now run the game smoothly on Ultra settings with Ray Tracing in both GTA V Online and Offline without any problems. Let me know if the issue is resolved! Also, I reset the game settings with NVIDIA. I suppose something weird was cached, or maybe it was related to the combination of settings. EDIT: It also works for Indiana Jones and The Great Circle. I had micro-stutterings (not as aggressive as with GTA). Maybe it was also related to the custom resolutions I created. Following all these steps, the custom resolutions I created were deleted. I will use DSR instead (x1.2, x1.5, etc.). GrandTheftSomeone
Wow, this time Rockstar really listened to their customers, it's a miracle!!! Enhanced is running super smoothly now. I've been playing for about 1 hour with police chases, explosions, chaos and stuff + RT enabled, haven't noticed a single tiny frametime spike, just WOW! Performance is now even better than the legacy version LOL It would be awesome if they could fix DX12 in RDR2 too but that might be asking too much I guess, after all we're talking about R* Edited March 29 by GrandTheftSomeone Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/1000987-gtav-enhanced-stuttering-problems-thread-report-your-issues-here/page/4/#findComment-1072520351 Share on other sites
sutalu
I finally found EXACTLY what caused my problem with the stuttering (in GTA and other games, although less agresive in the other games): NVIDIA Overlay I turned it OFF using the steps mentioned above. However, I had to turn it ON again to capture a video, and I noticed that the stuttering returned. So, I turned it OFF once more, and the stuttering disappeared. I believe this must be an issue with NVIDIA. I had always kept NVIDIA Overlay ON in the past, and nothing like this happened. The NVIDIA Overlay has some known issues that NVIDIA has been trying to fix since the release of the NVIDIA APP, but sometimes they still occur. These problems mainly affect newer GPUs, such as the RTX 4080 you have. A common issue is the game filter being activated without you using it, and although this has been fixed, the problem persisted for months. I recommend using the Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) to remove the drivers and then install the latest version. According to the NVIDIA community on their forum, the issues related to the overlay have been resolved. I believe that the next WHQL NVIDIA driver that will be released at the end of this month will bring more stability to GTA V Enhanced and the game optimization mode through the NVIDIA APP, as NVIDIA had more time to optimize the game and add the remaining technologies. I'm not sure if the DLSS Override will be available because the game has an online mode. sutalu 1 Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/1000987-gtav-enhanced-stuttering-problems-thread-report-your-issues-here/page/4/#findComment-1072520764 Share on other sites

Thanks x1000000000 Today I installed the Half-Life 2 RTX Demo, and even without the NVIDIA Overlay, the same problem occurs: stuttering. So I have uninstalled everything related to NVIDIA with that program, and now the game goes smooth Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/1000987-gtav-enhanced-stuttering-problems-thread-report-your-issues-here/page/4/#findComment-1072520956 Share on other sites

sutalu
Hi again. The stuttering problem came back again... even with the latest NVIDIA drivers. Buuuuuut, I finally managed to fix it. At least in my case, the problem was: The monitor My current monitor has 59.95Hz in Windows, and I can't change it to 60Hz. So I tested with another monitor that has 60Hz... and now all games run smoothly, without stuttering.
