Pretty interesting stuff in the RT within this version, it reflects some special effects but not all, I was shooting with the combat mg and my Chromed MOC wasn't reflecting the sparks from the gun, but it was reflecting the fire effects on some burnt out cars.

Headlights (the model and stuff) also seem to not reflect unfortunately. Not sure why is that.

One weird quirk that I keep seeing is how some lights just refuse to cast shadows. And it keeps throwing me off.

 

One example is inside the Chop Shop interior, in specific the Truck spot. The truck gets a shadow for the yellow amber light but not the bright white one right above. It makes no sense.

 

Another instance is that sewer tunnel near mirror park. There's a bunch of lights behind grates and sometimes they just don't cast any shadows and it looks very wrong. I'll be posting pictures later, lazy rn.

And what's the limit while runningt the game, the CPU or the GPU ?

Because I have a better GPU but a worst CPU, and I didn't try for now

I am also bothered by some things, like the fact that shadows are not projected on some objects like bottles or cartons of fast food on the ground with RT is active, it looks bad. it may be a silly thing but they are details that call your attention.

The one I find distracting is while driving, upcoming traffic needs to be close for the light to render in front of the vehicles.

One model (of the same drawable) casts lights the other doesn't? :starekek:

These are lights attached to models/assets.

 

Some wouldn't make sense to have shadow flags, like in the first screenshot, because the light coming in from outside is likely simply faked via a point light, so giving it a shadow would probably not look the best

 

While in the second and third screenshots, that requires asset changes, so it's likely the same on every platform since they didn't really retouch them.

Bit of a nitpick, but slightly disappointed that we are still not getting nighttime rain in Freemode. I suppose it's to be expected seeing as how console E&E doesn't have it either, but would've been really nice.

For some reason since we're talking about textures, I noticed that you don't need a restart after going from Very High Texture Quality to High or vice versa.

 

Maybe an oversight, probably not tho.

 

Although I wonder why they couldn't make Particle Quality not need a restart tbh, in RDR2 it doesn't need one iirc..

I was doing a test between legacy and enhanced, and the textures are the same, it could be some problem as you mentioned with memory, bugs, etc. but not a degradation, at least as far as I've seen in M house zone.

We had a person here saying the same thing, only it turned out he was clueless and had the texture settings at normal, which other people here took as fact that there’s a downgrade.

Do you notice a considerable performance drop when there are a lot of explosions and the new fire/smoke + particles around?

 

My PC is no big deal, the problem is that if I turn down the Ultra option, you lose the new detail, which is very nice.

Yeah not having chat in GTA Online is pretty disappointing. I don't want to be forced to use voice chat.

 

They suggested SMS but it's unusable and feels quite insulting to propose this as a workaround (when there's Steam chat readily available, with a history of messages).

 

It doesn't censor if you type in something with a swear, it just resets you back to the typing screen.

If you want to send another reply to a player the old text does not get reset/erased (very beginner programmer type mistake but alas it was probably coded in 2011), so you have to erase all text and resend and make sure to be PG-13, no "frick" allowed.

 

I hated text chat in public sessions but this isn't the solution. Postponing an essential feature at a later date is what got this release review bombed and I don't even agree with review bombing myself.

Yeah people who didn't want it in Public sessions had option to disable it in the settings.

 

But why did they remove it all together, for those of us who use it in Friends Only sessions to communicate with people we know?

It frankly feels like a very targeted removal, especially since apparently RDR2 doesn't have text chat either? I suppose they just want to be rid of all the headaches that text chat entails altogether.

 

I personally don't use it much as most of the time whatever messages I send in text chat end up being unread / not understood by the intended party, but I do agree that removing it completely is an extremely bad and player-unfriendly idea. Somehow I highly doubt we will ever get it back like R* claim we would.
