Agent Edward
It's no secret to some of you that Scarlett Meadows is my favorite region of RDR2, it's by far the place I spend most of my time in, and for years I wondered what may be the reference behind its name. That was until my ma suggested me to watch the movie Gone with the Wind (1939) yesterday, and as soon as I saw the protagonist Scarlett O'Hara in front of the Tara plantation I realized right away. Gone with the Wind is a movie based on a novel of the same name, it takes place in the state of Georgia during the American Civil War, in this movie the protagonist Scarlett O'Hara struggles to survive with the remaining of her family and her "workers" during the war as the south gets destroyed by the battles, I won't get too deep into it because it's a sensitive plot, the main characters are slavers and there are other f*cked up stuff in the movie. In any case, the name Scarlett Meadows definitely is a reference to this movie, specially considering what Chapters 3 and 4 are about, taking place in a region deeply marked by the aftermath of slavery, the war, the reconstruction period, etc. Edited February 17 by Agent Edward Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/1000723-scarlett-meadows-is-a-reference-to-gone-with-the-wind/ Share on other sites
Lemoyne outlaw
i always assumed it was called that because of the red clay soil. the southern usa is famous for this colored soil. and Scarlett meadows has plenty of it. and there are plenty of red soil meadows in the area. The movie also takes place in a region with red soil and the protagonist is named accordindingly. I won't rule out your opinion because it definitely makes sense too, but if you watch the movie you'll see too many similarities between it and RDR2's Chapters 3 and 4, specially the former.
