Does anyone have any idea what causes this bug?

I'm playing around with mods and I've noticed this recurring issue of the pause menu eventually just turning white. I have no idea what could be causing this and I haven't been able to find anything online on it.

What was the last mod you added, maybe that's what caused it? Anything to do with the main menu?

The Xbox Version HD conversion mod was the last edit I made. It does change the menu, but it still does the white screen even after removing the pause menu related stuff. (Unless I missed something)

These kinds of errors usually refere to writing memory of a pointer value instead of pointer itself. 
It's happening all the time. An example: 
Some random dude finds an address not knowing it's been used by the game on several memory positions so he/she writes the value and just after few minutes the game starts to behavie odd and even crashes. 
To make things even worse - a dude uploads it as a mod. Since there are a lot of sites where admins themselves have no idea what I'm talking about (whatsoever) - his mod got approved and even becoms popular in their own circles. 
So they all spread that poison all over the place which eventually ends up in the topics named - "HELP mod crashes", "freezes", "causes glitches" etc... 
And the worst of all - when they realize what they did - they choose a target to blame in order to save thir own ass*s from public lynch. 
If a target reacts (which is not very smart) - they all got into a verbal clinch with him/her (under false profile names ofc) and start causing a mayhem all over the place...

Sadly that's a big picture.
