Issues while minimizing tab

So the game runs fine, but whenever I want to minimize or switch to desktop mode, the game freaks out and I have to sign out of my system to get it working again. Is there a fix for this?

This is the steam complete edition, unmodded? The game is still 32bit so most of these old ones it's a little weird alt-tabbing and some freeze, some can close when doing so. I assume that's the problem since it happens to me sometimes (but far more frequently on my old pc),  TF2 another game for example that got updated to 64 bit a year ago has no issue alt tabbing anymore but it did have due to being 32, same for CS:GO but once Valve made them 64bit that stopped, they alt tab properly like any newer game.

Years later these older 32bit games do alt tab if your PC is good but they can get stuck at times, alt-tabbing, task manager/start etc. At least what I think it is..

Ah, so there is no way currently to have it as an option for x64 for this then?

Use Borderless Screen at native resolution.
