[IV] Grand Theft Auto: Snatches of memory

ROSTOVSKIY MODELS

Hello, everyone!

This mod introduces a brand-new map featuring two highly detailed cities inspired by Rostov-on-Don and Tyumen. We aim to recreate the atmosphere of these locations with authentic streets, architecture, and iconic landmarks. The events of the mod take place in the mid-2000s to early 2010s (around 2004-2010), bringing players back to an era of distinctive cars, music, and urban life.

Currently, the main focus is on map development, but we are also replacing vehicles with real-life counterparts commonly seen on the roads of these cities. Additionally, radio stations are being updated to feature music and broadcasts you would hear in an actual car from that time period.

Looks alright so far, but I honestly would prefer to see lore-friendly vehicles instead of real-life ones.

A lot of the big GTA mods that I've seen, especially those that take place in a Russian setting, use real-life vehicles for the most part (for the record, I'm not against people using real-life cars and motorcycles in GTA mods). For once, I would love to see a GTA mod set in Russia that uses lore-friendly cars (brands like Vapid, Karin, RUNE, etc.). Like, it would be cool to see a RUNE Cheburek used as a police car, or even a taxi.

Would that even be accurate for the mid 2000s? I thought they were using like Focuses and other stuff around that time. I do know they made that old box Lada until like 2012 I just don’t think it’s capacity as a fleet vehicle extended to then

I could be wrong though, I’m not Russian.

I think so. In most provincial regions of Russia, you can still find vehicles that have been in operation since the early 2010s, and for the mid-2000s, transport similar to the "Cheburek" in government institutions is a common sight.

The idea is interesting, but most likely, these will be real vehicle models, just designed in the style of the original cars.

The screenshot shows the first added vehicle — the AZLK 2141. The rest of the models will look approximately in the same style.

Yeah, in addition to Ford Focuses and some other makes, the Russian police did use old Ladas as fleet vehicles in the mid-2000s (though, that mainly applies to the VAZ-2106, 2105 and 2107 models, along with the Samara models - mainly the 2114, which was a facelifted 2109) before they were phased out in favor of newer models, like the VAZ-2110 and the Priora.
