Save Game Wont Load

Recommended Posts

Vitrolic Wither

I was playing the game for a couple hours on a new save running around doing a bunch of side stuff I saved to get off and eat for a bit. When I tried to play again loading the save crashed the game. I can start a new save with my current mod list and it loads no problem. Has anybody had this problem before? Here is my game save but idk if it will help since I can't even get it to load For:
Missions: Big Smoke

I did try to load the the save with no mods and unsurprisingly that also crashed the game. If anyone has a suggestion please lmk.

I am not able to run any practical tests on this save because you appear to be using a modified main.scm.

But I was able to load the save after putting all of the scripts to sleep for 6 seconds, which means the integrity of the save structure is intact.

No saved missions were found - a common problem with save anywhere mods that don't check the OnMission status.

Errors encountered after the 6 second script nap are consistent with loading a save that doesn't match main.scm.

You might be able to learn more from tools like SCRlog, or the Cleo.log produced by Cleo5.

I had found a hot coffee mod that replaces the main.scm could I put that in a folder inside the modloader folder to stop it from modifying the base game main.scm? Also, should I not use save anywhere mod or would you have a link to one that checks for OnMission status? I look  into those tools later tn when I have time.

I am aware of but not familiar with ModLoader. I don't know how it works. But a game save will not work properly unless a compatible main.scm is used - sometimes custom mains are designed to be save compatible with standard mains, but that's tricky business.

Save anywhere mods are usually safe to use. I designed mine to save even if on a mission, but I do a lot of save editing and glitch fixes so sometimes I need the bad data for diagnostics. The other situation where you should not save is near the dry dock in SF. If the import/export mission is active then the save will crash when loaded. The only tool I know of that avoids these situations is the Grinch Trainer.

Also, best not to save near an active basket ball object or pool player - the active status gets saved and doesn't go away unless edited with a tool like GTASnP.com. (GTASnP can fix the dry dock issue too now, btw.)

None of this seems like a direct solution to your problem though. Except, a better understanding of the possible issues might help you narrow the scope of the bug hunt a little.

Ok thank you that is good information to have. Idk if it matters but I was standing right out side the ammu-nation with the shoot range when I saved. After doing some testing it seems like mods that edit main.scm files do work when put into the modloader folder. I also did some research and realized I'm using a stand alone hot coffee and a mod called SA opened up that seems to have the hot coffee mod built in so that could be causing the problem.
