Tip to prevent your horse from following you in RDR1

I searched online but couldn't find any references, so I think I've discovered this new detail ^^.

If not, please let me know : ).

 

Q- Is it possible in RDR1 to make your horse stay put after dismounting, preventing it from following you into a hail of bullets or even to the bathroom?

A- Yes.

 

Procedure:

1. Dismount your horse.
2. Whistle once to get the horse as close to you as possible and wait for it to stop.
3. Whistle 5 times in a row.

 

The horse will be stuck in that spot and won't be recalled by whistling. To restore its normal behavior, simply mount up or move far enough away until the horse disappears/despawns.
