I think they decide at some point to start making it, and then whenever it is finished they release it.

I dont believe in a big masterplan as to which exact date they wanna release trailers.

Maybe some stuff weighs in on when they release it, like when they have these financial calls or whatever.

But im FAR from an expert on this, maybe others know more.

The no-masterplan thing is how i see it.

This was explained somewhere, in relation to the Housers and production of trailers. I didn't save it, but I look for it. Some article, somewhere.

+ games are getting novadays harder-longer to make cause of details and overall the quality.

While it's true that games being more complex these days, more detailed assets etc are part of why games take so long to make now what is also starting to become apparent is that another big reason why they take so long is awful management by the studio leads. That, along with publishers wasting years and hundreds of millions failing to chase trends, is a massive reason why some publishers are in panic mode and would love to charge more money for games. They don't want to admit that publicly, however, so they'd rather paint the picture of "well games are so complex to make now, so we need to charge more money" because it's easier to gaslight customers that way.

We already had an official price rise - and the US got it relatively easy, even mainland Europe often pays a lot more than $70 for a game - we don't need any more for one reason alone: the studios who want to do it can't justify it with the quality of their games.

Without a doubt, they have a detailed plan in place, whether you call it a master plan, project plan, or time schedule. A project of this magnitude simply cannot be executed without meticulous organization. Internal delays are inevitable, and maintaining quality will be priority but they absolutely have a fixed release date for the trailer. The game's own development timeline directly impacts the trailer's schedule. I imagine the trailer team has been working on concepts for a while now – sketches, initial ideas, even test trailers using existing assets like GTA 5 for example. The actual trailer with real game footage will likely be produced closer to the trailer release date, perhaps just a few weeks beforehand, minimizing the risk of leaks.

Well stated, I agree wholeheartedly. They also do very heavy editing and multiple cuts of the trailer, to ensure it hits the way they want it to. Really got to find that article whichcexplains this deeper!

Just off topic,

I keep seeing many thumbnails and images generated by artificial intelligence posing as 'GTA VI', this seems to be a real mess in the expectation of the game.

Added to the lies and imaginary/fakes descriptions of mechanics and gameplay + silence from Rockstar, it ends up being a terrible limbo...

We can still discern the information from reality, but many are getting involved because of this and really contaminating themselves.

I don't see this much in other games, GTA VI is already a phenomenon and demarcated by its time and period of the internet.

Cherish that while you can lmao. Social media is absolutely rammed with AI pics for all sorts of stuff today, it's only a matter of time before AI fakes of other games becomes more common.

Meanwhile Meta are trying to make AI profiles a thing as well cause ???. The dead internet conspiracy is genuinely no longer a conspiracy at this point, it's happening right before our eyes.

It's definitely an issue and not helped by long periods of silence, because unfortunately that very likely delay from Early 2025 to Fall 2025 made for this longer mysterious wait. It says more about the people doing it in my opinion and a sickness for attention they have, because this is way worse than what happened with previous games, due to the technology available today in so many hands.

At this time I don't feel like the game is never coming and wanting so much to play it but I couldn't because I still had to wait a few years.

I'm still thinking about this game every day, but the drought doesn't fell that bad anymore. I'm not even in mood of playing games.

Also December and January came and go very fast. We have to wait just one month and half or two months before the marketing and hype starts again.

Agreed. Probably an unpopular opinion but Michael was a very forgettable protagonist.

To make this not just about "all of GTAV was pretty forgettable" I just hope VI isn't as forgettable as V was. Like, with RDR2 and IV (a bit less) you could in less than a full sentence describe the story. With GTAV I genuinely don't know where to start. I'm hoping VI's story is good. And if RDR2 is anything to go by we'll be eating good. Soon.

Why would the mob decide to go kill Michael 12 years after killing Rocco? That doesn’t make sense.

The same reason the mob whacks guys 20 years later after they get out of prison for ratting or interfering with their rackets.

Simple. A black comedy crime drama about three very different criminals with their own agendas trying to find their place in life in a satirically distorted version of post-recession L.A.

And as for the bolded, you say that as if it's a bad thing. You could say the same about many great pieces of media that emphasise atmosphere and themes over simply focusing on plot, which, coincidentally, is the correct approach for open-world games in my opinion. RDR2 and GTAIV are no different in that regard.

I'm not a film snob or something, but I did find GTA V's story kind of forgettable because it spread itself thin. I think three characters + having their own personal antagonists did not do the story favors. That said, I actually think story writing is Rockstar's weak point across all their games, and I say that as a complete GTA sycophant who mostly plays single player.

That’s why I think them reducing from 3 characters to 2 and having them be a couple will work out better

You're severally overestimating the power of the Ancelottis, they're supposed to be very weak in IV.

That said, if Luis is involved in any shape or form in the next game, I think he's more likely to be their target, he killed Vince while the family was angry at him and Tony.

You gotta remember. That’s “Weak” in comparison to the other families. The weakest family in the Liberty city Area is still powerful as fu&k. Never forget, the Jersey family in the sopranos is considered a glorify crew. We know they weren’t weak at all.

Returning characters should not mean anything to the protagonist’s of gta vi. WE know these characters, but our protagonist’s do not.

Though there is a chance our upcoming small time robbers might have heard of the legendary bank robber Michael Townley that got killed in a bank robbery gone wrong in North Yankton 20 or so years ago :lmaokek:
