Damn, I only jumped in the VI hype train when Rockstar first mentioned it that day... February 4 2022 I think it was, and even I am feeling exhausted by this news drought already.

Now imagine someone who is waiting for it for an entire decade already like you. :sadkek:

No one expected that, hell even people back then doubt the game will take until 2020. I was expecting the game to arrive in 2017/2018.

Once, with a friend in 2016-17, when we were 11 years old, we didn't know when GTAVI would come out, and we didn't know that RDR2 was coming out, and we were wondering if it would be 2018 or 2019....

Something got on my head recently that rockstar in the final mission of GTA 6, they use GTA 1 song as tribute for the GTA Series.

Yeah same, if I knew back in 2015 that GTA 6 won’t release until decade later I wouldn’t have waited for it, and that when I started waiting for it 😫

I’m ngl , waiting for GTA VI while knowing RDR 2 was next in the pipeline was a personal choice :kekw: - even before the announcement in 2016 , it was an complete open secret in the community that a new Red Dead was next up after V

Disappointing, but not surprising. Obviously in this case, I could see them having intentions to have D11 port IV to PlayStation and Switch and/or bring LC to GTAO's successor at some point, but these takedowns haven't always been indicative of an upcoming release that a particular mod could "get in the way of" (I somewhat understand re3, even if I was against the legal action taken, but do you really think R* ever had any interest in rereleasing GTA Advance?).

I think the most likely explanation here is that the Preservation Project had too much attention drawn to it (which was sadly inevitable), and that R* and T2 like to follow Nintendo's example of going after anything and anything that could potentially "harm" their IPs, no matter how insignificant it may be. I know I'm a broken record about this, but remember that they were petty enough to go after a f*cking save file...

EDIT: disregard this post (for now...). I did not see @TheHoover69's quote from the mod team

EDIT 2: Sorry if I briefly got anyone’s hopes up. Turns out it was R*/T2 on their disgusting anti-SP modding crusade. :cringekek:

Are they STILL doing this crap? At this point, it's honestly amazing to me that the GTA modding community still exists at all, considering the rancid bullsh*t they have to put up with on a regular basis.

Take-Two really are scum.

I remember  that since 2017 or 2018 I was already starting to wait for GTA VI (when the youtubers started talking about it) apart from the fact that they said it would be released in 2020 or 2021  and now we are in 2025 (the  supposed year of release)

It's a vehicle that has tracks, the game is asking you to steal it as part of a mission, there's nothing out of the ordinary about this.

Yes strayed far away from that, you nailed it. A jetpack is nothing like an armoured vehicle with tracks that shoots lasers.

In all seriousness though, if you love online that's cool, I did too. But some of the stuff on there now is absolutely bonkers. Even the stunt races with rockets cars etc, while fun, if you'd asked me in 2008 after GTA4 came out I'd have never said they were in a GTA game.

Yeah, as much as it sucks, I don’t blame Silent and the like for not wanting much (if anything) to do with the GTA modding scene these days (although I’m glad that SilentPatch went open source as of the latest update).

To think, in the pre-GTAO days, Rockstar openly embraced the modding community, to the point where they literally showcased a port of GTA 1’s map into IV on the Newswire. Such a thing would never happen post-2013 (even worse, you just know it would have been DCMA’d and/or they’d have gotten Take-Two to send their legal goons to the modder’s home). I get that you have to do what you can to protect your intellectual property, but R*/T2 go to such disgusting extremes when they do so. I’m on the fence as to whether I find them worse than Nintendo at this point (they sure as hell ain’t Sega, I’ll say that much).

EDIT: They even shouted out a 3D Era LC to IV map mod in the very same post. :bruh: How did I not notice that before?

They should rebrand themselves as Take Down 2 Over-Reactive

Spoiler

Seriously, I think this makes little sense.

Maybe they’re doing a remaster for IV on the PS5.

But this afaik is a mod for the PC. Who on the PC is going to buy it on the PS5 when presumably they already have it on the PC?

And a PC “remaster” wouldn’t be really worth getting versus the current edition that’s still available in unless they did a huge graphical overhaul (too expensive, and surely redoing RDR in RDR2’s engine would come ahead of that), or added back multiplayer (which they won’t).

The only other sensible reason for taking it down would be if they were genuinely about to add Liberty city to GTA O, which you have to assume they won’t with GTA VI on the horizon. Everyone will be moving to that soon, and the graphics will be so much more advanced, adding the old version of GTA IV’s LC isn’t going to have much appeal vs any new official version R* might add (if they have an idea to combine LC and VC down the road).

TLDR, the take down doesn’t make much sense to me. It’s not going to save them and lost revenue, and just annoy hardcore fans.

Part of me wants Trailer 2 to drop in the middle of the night here in Eurasia so I can spam messages to my friends and wake them up.

Spoiler

Just like what happened to us when Trailer 1 got leaked :cringekek:

Lesson learned : never listen to R* YouTubers or take them seriously

I feel like we are in a never ending cycle. Every week comes and goes with the same RDRO and GTAO posts… when will we finally be able to experience what we have experienced on the 4th of December?

It's not all that far away from something that was developed over 40 years ago.

Just bought Rdr2 for first time I've never played it. Hopefully it holds me off until there's new Gta 6 news.

RDR2 is a great game.

This is a glorified laser dazzler using gain-switch lasers. The only thing it would be shooting down would be crappy early solid-state optics from the 70s if it could actually paint its targets :kekw:

If someone asked you 10 years ago what game this was, you'd never in a million years say Grand Theft Auto. Online has strayed so far away from what most people love about GTA. TT love that shark card money.

GTA shares a lot of themes with that would be in a cyberpunk dystopia if it wasn’t GTA and i think there was one set in one

I hope they add more elements like this in gta 6 like they did with adding aliens in RDR2 and other wacky stuff that let us know they don’t take them self too seriously.

I feel the opposite. I want them to actually take their world and their lore serious again, like gta 4. It doesn’t have to be as serious, but it would be nice to feel like they actually gave a damn about real grounded worldbuilding

they take their lore serious the same fictional brands that appeared 20 years ago in other games were in the GTA 6 trailer if they didn’t there wouldn’t be consistency

I’m not expecting grounded realism in online only single player your character can’t always be a small time criminal
