In both games whenever I play them with a controller, I tend to put the sensitivity very high or just max it out entirely and only put a few ticks into acceleration

Alright, I am kinda glad I am not the only mad man who does this with GTA, I crank up the settings to the max and put one tick into the deadzone to be more precise when sniping and combat stick drift.

Whenever I get new controllers I don't even bother with that tick on the deadzone.

It's a bit of a "debate" if you wanna call it that:

Graphics were touched a bit in one of the updates, there's a claim that the change was reverted with another update, some say the original version of the game is still the best looking...etc, it's in that thread above.

Visuals aside, one thing is for sure, the game is a bit more buggy now though, nothing unplayable but it's not as polished as it was before.

In most other controller games I typically keep the sensitivity somewhere in the middle, but in those cases that one setting is accounting for both the sensitivity and the acceleration values. Separating the two means that GTA V and RDR2's sensitivity values are relatively half of what they would otherwise be, so even maxed sensitivity with no acceleration feels closer to minimum sensitivity in other games. I wish I could increase it beyond what the games allow, but because I can't, I have to compromise by adding that very slight amount of acceleration.

Maybe I'm weird, but analog acceleration bothers me in the same way that mouse acceleration does - I feel like I'm much less precise because the input doesn't feel perfectly consistent. Without it, I can train my muscle memory to know exactly how long I need to hold the stick in a particular direction for it to land where I want it, whereas with it I frequently undershoot or overshoot no matter how practiced I am. Of course it has more of a reason to exist for analog input due to the inherent lack of precision, but I just personally find it easier and much more enjoyable playing without it.

As for deadzones, I also typically disable them entirely. I already have global deadzones assigned in both Steam and DS4Windows (some older games still play better with it than Steam's support in my experience), but even then they're set to the bare minimum.

I don’t really buy this. The newswire posts can be made from anywhere in the world, it’s not like they’re dependent on the LA studio.

Im not saying the lack of posts means VI announcement imminent but I doubt the fires have anything to do with why they havnt posted.

It´s very possible that they delay news, may it be about GTA Online or GTA6, due the LA fires. Michaels house is burned.

What’s your guys’ take on the pre-release reviews from YouTubers & other outlets?

Seems to me like R* has a choice to make: managing the risks of potential leaks vs. maximizing hype from the reviews (about the game everyone’s gonna buy anyway).

Seems to me like the hype is big enough that they’d rather avoid any potential leaks of people speedrunning the game, leaking parts of the map or potential characters’ deaths, etc.

I’ll never forget the thumbnail that spoiled me Arthur’s death, or my former classmate who spoiled me the end of RDR1 back in 2010, after I insisted that his mom a hoe :kekw:

Well I hope those are more serious (yeah) youtubers and outlets like IGN. I hope they don’t give them to streamers and other loud youtubers. I don’t wanna hear a GTA 6 review start with «CHAT!!»

I'm ready to watch a review that starts with the words "Hello, GTA Forums chatters"

The moment when the boxes with the game appear in warehouses will be the moment when the entire game will be leaked, so probably 2 weeks before the official release day there will be a lot of leaks, unless they give up discs, then maybe 3-4 days

People will do crazy things to play earlier :shillkek:, it will be the biggest premiere ever

however, I hope that I am wrong and the game will not be fully leaked, and the people working on it will be able to celebrate without any problems. :yee:

Man I hope they ditch BOTH red dead and GTA for their next game. I wouldn't expect it to come any earlier than 2040, but I hope they make a medieval knight themed game or maybe even a pirate game. The medieval setting would work well for them considering we know how great they are at designing realistic horses and natural environments from rdr2.

Well , they won’t jump right into the next GTA after VI & I’ll be just fine without a new Red Dead - however I’m not sold on a medieval game either so it’s gonna be interesting to see where they go

Youtubers? I'd be surprised.
News pages yes, I remember when PC Gamer talked about GTA V for PC before release, they were invited in house I think? I doubt they ever sent review codes around

They might remember Bully 2 or the full-fledged remaster of GTA 4.

The big platforms like IGN will still spoil the game. I can’t remember who it was - may have been gamespot, but one of them included a major spoiler in their IV review. They included the scene where Niko kills Vlad for some reason.

Leaks aren't that big of a deal that we should ask for DRM on our physical versions of games, lmao.

While I care about spoilers as much as I assume everyone here does, but this is not a good idea from a preservation standpoint. Single player games should never, ever require an internet connection for you to play.

I wasn't going on about DRM at all, rather basic release date locks of some sort, but I guess that'd need an Internet connection which connects back to Ghost's point.

I remember a crazy situation when Playstation made the game available to players from Europe (or something like that) through pre-loading GTAV.

Rockstar then warned about spoilers and announced that GTAV went gold.
It was how long, I think 3 weeks before the premiere?

I wonder when GTAVI will go gold, and whether Rockstar will brag about it because from what I know nothing was known about RDR2 being gold, and now many studios are announcing that the game development is finished

Yeah, I was around for that, and it was kinda mad, Sony had to release an apology :sadkek: What happened was that suddenly somewhere in August 2013, the preload for GTA V was published, and although it was mostly locked, people could still datamine parts of it such as audio files from radios, cutscenes, etc.

Needless to say this place was on lockdown with a spoilers/leaks subsection and DMCA's were flying like missiles, we're even mentioned in that article.

Look like billbill made a post about RDO I think for this week? 🤔

3 hours ago, VenturiK said:

It's most likely because of the fires in LA.

Yeah, they seem to have posted it on Chinese social media but not Twitter, strangely. Only the GTAO post would have had to do with fires - RDO already got its monthly Newswire so this is just the usual "hey check this out this week" tweet.

I can only imagine the nightmare it will be for the staff to manage this site in the weeks leading up to release. Not only with the increased traffic, but also the likelyhood of early-copy leaked videos being shared all over the place. Might even be nearly impossible to stay spoiler-free around that time.

Attachments weren't enabled back then, and disabling links wouldn't do sh*t. Do you think people weren't just posting the info such as JOHNNY DIES directly?

Regardless of whether you're one of those that says "haha game journalists bad nowadays" or not, you surely agree it's better for actual gaming news outlets to get previews vs. hyperactive, ragebait grifters.

GTA VCS is definitely the most underappreciated GTA, at least for what it is and what it set out to do.

It deserves a top 3 spot in the GTA series in my book.

Yeah, but the mission design is pure nightmare-ish and the game itself is a very big pain to play. I just completed it again and only I know how difficult it was to get past the "Light My Pyre" mission.

VCS was executed with excellence (colors, atmosphere, music etc.), but the over-exaggerated difficulty of most missions makes you feel like you're playing the Tightened Vice mod or something.

Exactly, but when it comes to mission design and difficulty balance, I'd take VC over VCS any day. VCS' gameplay is like some kind of hellish nightmare, especially if you try to play through it quick.

The reason why I don't believe this theory much is because they haven't repeated the same strategy last year, releasing Trailer 2 and Agents of Sabotage right after it, but who knows...

Not to mention those who considers them spin offs lol.

Going back to our discussion about guns always being shown on our character. I understand the issue of clipping I just feel like with Rockstar’s dedication to realism they wouldn’t have the long guns show on your back while still having the handgun appear out of nowhere. That’s why I think we’ll be able to tuck the handgun under our shirts or maybe we’ll have a holster

The difficulty is one thing (even with the health/armor upgrades, I still struggle with the shootout in "Unfriendly Competition"), but VCS is also annoying to 100%. Much of the side content is an absolute slog to get through, especially Air Rescue and delivering those slower-than-molasses boats to the Impound. Introducing checkpoints in the emergency vehicle missions is a nice QoL upgrade, but it's nowhere near enough to justify bumping them up to 15 levels. If LCS was anything to go by, a mobile release would have likely lowered the requirement to 9 or 12 levels; but, whatever the reason (be it the music licensing, Phil Collins' likeness, or LCS Mobile simply not selling well), R* is clearly not interested in releasing the game on modern platforms (if only something came of those PS2-on-PS4 ESRB ratings back in 2017).

I've only bothered to get 100% completion twice (once on PSP and again on PS2, solely because of the exclusive side content), just so I can say that I've done so for every GTA since III (ignoring Advance). I don't think even RetroAchievements could convince me to attempt it again. :sadkek:

I wonder if Dinosaur would ever bother with Tightened LCS and VCS after SA
