He took this role as the pessimist/villain GTAForums member who always goes against everyone's wishes now.

 

Last year he said that we wouldn't get Trailer 2, then the year ended and he started bragging himself around because of this, and now he is wishing that VI gets delayed so he can say that he was right again or some sh*t.

 

As much as I find his posts funny, he can be really... REALLY annoying sometimes.

Borderlands being moved to an earlier date is definitely interesting. This is quite a rare occurrence in the gaming industry, especially for big AAA releases like this one, they're definitely trying to create some breathing room for Borderlands.

 

This + Mafia 4's release date + Strauss' repeated reaffirming that GTA VI is still on track for Fall 2025, this makes me believe that Take Two wants to "fire each chamber they got" one month-ish at a time, giving each game ample breathing room to accumulate revenue. This would lead GTA VI to a late Oct., early Nov. release, which is the time period that makes the most sense. If they're gonna release some info for GTA VI, the next few weeks are going to be very interesting, May makes the most sense right now.

 

Now, I know as much confirmed info about the release date as anyone else here, which is f*ck all, but all these patterns, especially the Borderlands news, are making me believe even more on the Fall 2025 release. What other reason would they have to move the release date of Borderlands earlier?

I've had a pep in my step all morning after reading the Borderlands news. I keep going over permutations for why it would happen and they keep coming back to VI.

 

The most obvious answer is: the game is going to be ready early so they're releasing it earlier. What doesn't make sense is they've moved the release to within a week of NBA 2K26 which is their most-profitable sport game. They wouldn't do this unless they had a very good reason. 

 

Another thought: Sony bought the marketing rights to Borderlands 4, they revealed the release date at a State of Play and are showcasing it tomorrow at another one. Sony scheduled Marathon for release on the same day and asked 2K to move their date so they weren't competing. But why would Sony have done this in the first place? They've known the Borderlands release date since February. 

 

Finally: Sony have Ghost of Yotei releasing a week after Marathon, so both 2K and Sony are cramming releases together to be out well before mid-to-late October. These companies have no reason to fear the annual CoD release and they've had no issues releasing games later than this in the past. 

 

I truly believe both of these companies – who have the highest chance of knowing VI's date outside of Rockstar themselves – would be giving themselves much more breathing room if VI wasn't right around the corner. We'll know for sure in two weeks.

They're just moving out of the way of Marathon. No sense in galvanizing the same player bases by having your looter shooter drop on the same day as a extraction shooter from Bungie.

Roaming through the woods in that game is so calm and relaxing when you take it all in. Nice shot

They would have moved it backwards not forwards if not for VI. On top of that, why would Sony have put Marathon on the same date as Borderlands unless they had no other choice? If VI wasn't coming out in October / November, these companies would have a lot more room to operate, but it is so they don't.

All RDR2 needs to look like a current gen game is Ray Tracing Global Illumination + Ambient Occlusion, then replace the TAA for FSR and it's done.

 

There are other changes I would like to see in the PS5 and XS versions, but they're gameplay related, not graphics and performance.
