I'm also leaning more towards delay in 2026.

But advancing a release date is very rare and I don't think ghost of yotei or marathon are enough to justify that.

Let's see how it turns out, but this is intriguing news for sure.

Intentional leaks are a thing, very rare, but have no doubt happened in the games industry. But they're not common and while yea it'd generate hype so would official screens. It's not really a something a publishers ever do for promo assets. Also not to mention the last thing R* will want from a PR perspective is a another "leak". Yea sure they could intentionally leak something but it wouldn't be reported that way and they probably don't want those old leak stories dredged up again.

I also think that R* very well know that they don't need to leak anything given the amount of hype behind the game. People would go nuts if they simply tweeted a palm tree or sunset emoji in reference to VI. I've mentioned before that a game of this scale probably has a lot of things that were changed between now and the day it was revealed so I can also see them not wanting to reveal or intentionally leak anything until they feel like they're ready to show it off.

The boss of T2 literally said it might be the most anticipated piece of entertainment ever, and he's not wrong. It still trends on a daily basis on social media.

 

So yea I don't think they need to drip feed stuff, even if that can be frustrating for some.

I don't think content needs to be drip fed, but at least one thing in 2024 would have been nice. 500+ days is nuts. I am a little bit sympathetic to the theory that they were aiming internally for early 2025 and had to punt. I really hope Trailer 2 is an action oriented trailer.

I suspect they're waiting to hit another development milestone before they release new information. This milestone will be confirmation they'll get the project locked off on time. Because I reckon they want to reveal the release date in the next trailer. There's no point in releasing another trailer with a date if they're unsure that they'll deliver on time. Hence, waiting for an internal development milestone.

The second trailers of both GTA5 and RDR2 were action oriented, specially if my theory of VI not having a Trailer 3 becomes a reality, with Rockstar going straight to the Gameplay Trailer after Trailer 2 this time.

 

Also, Trailer 2 is when we're going to know Jason properly, we don't even know if his name still is Jason to begin with, maybe he is a more hot headed protagonist than Lucia is and this trailer will be more action packed to represent as well? Who knows...

Since Vice City, the first trailer for every GTA entry never depicts gun fire nor any other expression of violence.

I don't see this changing anytime soon tbh, not with RDR3, Agent nor whatever is their next game after VI.

 

The first trailer serves the purpose of showcasing the graphics, location, characters, vehicles... then the second trailer makes these things more interesting (action).

It's actually crazy to think about, when the leaks happened I assumed everyone and their moms knew about them, but watching people react to the trailer, I was surprised how many people didn't know much if anything about the game.

I realize gaming isn't everyone's thing, but I was thinking a monumental franchise like GTA is extremely well known and the news spread around really quickly these days, yet apparently marketing is still needed so that everyone sees the game.

Alright, this just in: known GTAForums staff who has known stuff in the past confirms that not only are we getting info soon, he also says GTAVI has a light, a tunnel and a third playable character called Maybe.
