I’m thinking of getting the premium version of GTA V for PC, but I think I read someplace that the Mission Row police got locked after some update rendering it inaccessible. Is that true, or could I freely explore? Also, on an unrelated note, what’s the mod that lets you into, for example, the Paleto Bay sheriff ?

Is there any way to get past the doors leading to the cells in Mission Row Police Station in storymode? (Console Edition)

GTA V and Saints Row and the question of going dark/realistic or over
Journey_95 posted a topic in GTA V
So as we know Rockstar made an attempt with GTA IV to move the franchise in a new more serious direction and I really loved it its still by far the best GTA game storywise Unfortunately many didn't like this and wanted Rockstar to return to the the crazyness and over the top storystyle of SA and then we got TBOGT and at last GTA V which has one of the most disappointing storylines for me It doesn't know what its supposed to be crazy/over the top or a more serious and emotional In contrast to that the Saints Row franchise has gotten 100% crazy and without any restrictions its lot of fun I think this is actually a good and much better approach It wants to be crazy so it goes full out not half assed like GTA V or TBOGT Thats why I actually I enjoyed SR IV's campaign a lot more than V Of course GTA V is basically better than SR IV in almost every aspect like gameplay, the city etc. but still the story of SR IV was way too awesome and due to the stellar voice acting it really seemed like everyone was having fun whereas GTA V has this more serious moments like Trevor learning about the truth about the Brad issue but it just drops it immediately and doesn't have the emotional and dramatic feels like GTA IV So my verdict is basically that Rockstar should return to a more serious story or go more over the top (and no that doesn't mean they should add aliens) What do you think? -
I've played GTA V and Saints Row 3/4 and I have to say I think Saints Row did it a lot better. Property ownership in GTA V seems like some afterthought they threw in there so they could be like Saints Row. In Saints Row you could actually own stores and properties that had a real effect on the game. I used to buy all the Friendly Fire stores. Not only did I get extra income, but I got discounts on ammo too. I bought the Movie Theatre, Golf Course, and Cannibis Shop in GTA V, and I feel like I've really gotten nothing for all the money I spent. Just the bragging rights to say I own a Movie theater or weed shop. Wish I could buy Ammu-nation or LSC.

Saints Row stopped being a poor man's Grand Theft Auto after Saints Row: TT release, now focused on humour with the only similiarity: open world game with criminal activities. Why don't the bias comparisons don't stop? (Before you flame me, yes, I do play GTA, however why comparing a serious open world to a funny open world?)

Club Name: Saint's Of Hell MC Crew Type: Outlaw Motorcycle Club Club Motto: If you get knocked down 7 times, Get up 8. Founded: 2013 Club Colours: Red and Chrome Location: Los Santos Criminal Activities: Weapon / Drug Trade Motor Theft Hitmen Robbery Criminal Status: Extremely dangerous Current Membership: 7 members (5 patched) Recruiting: Yes (invite only) Origin: The Sgt. At Arms of Devil's Army MC, Sandy Shores Chapter, learned that the Sandy Shores Chapter V.P. was stealing money from the club. So he called called for meeting to reveal this intel. He didn't know that the Chapter's President was in on it as well. At the meeting the president kinda said it was b.s. and ended the meeting. After the meeting the President and V.P. decided to have the S.A.A. assassinated. A few other members of the club where on the Sgt. At. Arms side so they informed him on the hit. The Sgt. At Arms and thew few club members held off at the old clubhouse. After hours of shooting and shouting the dusk cleared and the Devil's Army MC, Sandy Shores Chapter, layed dead. All but the Sgt. At. Arms. the two members who stayed by his side and survived. They searched the bodys but the President and V.P. were not found. They had fled when the shooting started. They were headed to the mother chapter in Vinewood. The Sandy Shores Chapter S.A.A. called Vinewood and told his story. When the Sandy Shores Chapter President and V.P. arrived in Vinewood they told there story. Unfortunately the Vinewood President already suspected the stealing and had them taken out right then and there. He then called back to Sandy Shores and tried to arrange a meeting. The Sandy Shores S.A.A. said Devils Army MC was outta Sandy Shores for good. After months of feuding the Devils Army MC left Sandy Shores alone and the old DAMC Sandy Shores Charter S.A.A. and the two members burned the devil and hung a demon saint over their backs. Thus the Saint's Of Hell MC was founded in Sandy Shores. Structure: Officers National & Chapter President Vice President Warlord Treasurer Sergeant At Arms Road Captain Members Patched Members Non Members Prospects Hang Around's Club Associates The structure of the Saint's Of Hell MC is much the same as other MC's. The club currently features a National & Mother Chapter President (Founder) and 4 Vice Presidents (co-founders). It is believed these four Vice Presidents are to become Presidents of their own chapter once the club begins to expand across Los Santos. The club has the rest of its officials including Warlord (enforcer), Treasurer (responsible for club money), Sergeant At Arms (Security and Weapons) and Road Captain (Logistics). From there the club has its Full Patched Members who serve and run the club. These members must also attend club meetings otherwise known as "Church". Then there is the non patched members who are normally referred to as Prospects. Prospects are yet to have the right to wear the patch and must prove they are worthy enuff to hang a Deamon Saint. Each fully patched member receives 1 Prospect each and they are responsible for showing the Prospect the way of club and its rules. Membership Requirements The Saint's Of Hell is a very tight MC club and they dont just allow anyone to walk in and be patched. Non members will start as Hang Around's and work their way up to Prospect's until they are voted in by all ranking members. To be eligible for a patch the following is required. Must be mature Must have a LCC Hexer as a Personal Vehicle Headset is preferred Must be Americcan To apply send me a personal message on here and we will go from there. Benifits We are able to get any patched member anything they need from a boat to a tank. Wheater you need a pistol or mg ammo, we got it.

I just wish GTA5 had some of the features of Saints Row which provided several Safe Houses through out the map plus you could save an endless amount of vehicles in each. Plus you could go to many plastic surgery hospitals and have hundreds of choices to change your characters nationality, color, facial features, body build, age, hair colors and styles, voice, even walking styles and comments and gestures, etc etc etc. Saints Row had 2 crazy wild silly stores for tons of outfits and adult sex store for clothes and made me think instantly of Trevor who who would have looked so funny and silly but here in GTA5 all he can wear is a dress. Plus in the game when you made any changes to a character you stayed that way unlike here in GTA5 your character doesn't. Saints Row has instant access to cheats and several available for purchase homes for planes, cars, etc and heli pads on each Safe Home roof top. You could even dress up and accessorize the safe houses from several options. I'm just saying a few of these features would have been nice if available in GTA5 to extend the fun features in game play.

OK, this thread is pure fantasy, I know. I don't expect anything to actually come out of this except a vague sadness that what I'm talking about doesn't exist. That aside, who else wishes someone out there could strike the perfect balance between Saint's Row & GTA? Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying GTA isn't awesome as is (Saint's Row often disappoints in many ways though, sorry THQ/Deep Silver), but I can't deny a well-executed combination of the two would be GODLIKE. Picture, if you will, the level of character customisation and creation of SR, with the gritty, hard-hitting storylines of GTA's seedy criminal world. The intense, blazing high speed action the 3rd Street Saints involve themselves with on a daily basis, alongside the more realistic weaponry and cover combat mechanics of GTA. Imagine driving through Los Santos, Liberty City or Vice City in a customised semi truck, that doesn't drive like a battery-powered kid's toy (seriously DS what the f*ck is up with vehicle physics in those games, jesus christ). I know the difficulty lies in the fact that GTA focuses more on the reality of violence and crime while SR goes way off the mark with lots of crazy dildobat swinging, VTOL superjet flying craziness. To complicate the situation even further, I myself prefer the dirty criminal underbelly themes of the characters and storylines in GTA - and yet at the same time I do really enjoy the wild shenanigans of Saint's Row. How to combine those two themes? I don't know if you can. I still can't even decide if, in this hypothetical game, I'd consider it a good idea to tone down the insanity of the SR aspect. I guess what I'm saying is nothing new. I'd love to see a game that combines the best of both series. I'm sure that's been said before. As I said, pure fantasy. Anyone else? Your thoughts?

Anyone else think there isn't really much to do other than "goof off" when not on a story mission? From what I experienced playing the game, and from what I read on the forum, there's quite a large contrast between those that agree and those that disagree. From "Sight-Seeing Iz Teh Fun" to "Grr! Gyroplanes Are Bawlz Now!" arguments, it appears we have a huge range between pleased and disappointed players. I, myself, fall under the "GTA V is underwhelming" category, but only because I don't enjoy not having a goal to accomplish. I enjoy objectives and activities, and quite frankly, GTA V's claim of 100+ hours is outright wrong. Maybe you can squeeze 100 hours in SP, hypothetically, but not 100+ hours. The trouble is that there isn't really much to do in GTA V. Yeah, you can make your own goals, but that isn't something the game gives to you. That's the player making something to do, which anyone can do with any game. I, myself, spent my first 40 minutes playing simply trying to get a plane so I could witness the grand scale of Los Santos. A lot of empty space is what I saw. Yeah, the mountains is nice. Yeah, the wilderness is a nice touch; but I was looking around for things to occupy my time. Something fun. In time, I did the rampages, which was a fun distraction but it didn't really do anything different from earlier missions. I finished the plane school, which would have been more enjoyable if I didn't have to keep the aircrafts steady manually. I wanted to make my three characters resemble something from my own imagination, but it was extremely limiting, as if this was DnD GTA, and I was told it was against my alignment to dress Trevor respectfully. (No mustaches for Mike or Frank?) Overall, I wanted to play a fun GTA game, but instead I played a game where I'd spend more time traveling to a mission than completing it, all for a story I had little care for, with characters I didn't really enjoy playing as. Now, I'm not the one that bought the game. My brother's the one that went to the midnight release, I only drove him there. I understand he had an obligation to "have to like it", considering he spent a long time in a line-up in the cold, and spent full price with a pre-order; but I have no obligations. I have a rather rare viewpoint, and can judge the game without having spent any money on the actual experience. No, I can't return it (because it isn't mine), and I'm interested to see if GTA: Online is enough to make me a buyer when my own PS3 comes back from the fix-it shop, but y'know what I did instead? I never actually gave my full attention to Saints Row 2 until I played GTA V. At first, I wanted to show my brother that GTA V was rather rotten compared to other games that came before it. Now I'm sure everyone interested in comparing the two franchises would see "GTA V vs SR IV" as the most appealing concept to consider, but no. A more worthy contender would be SR 2. The 100+ hours of content GTA V promised simply pales in comparison to SR 2, and yes, I'm going to bring up golf and yoga. They're boring distractions at best. You bought GTA to play GTA, not Tennis. What were the activities in SR 2? There's a dozen of them, and they mostly use the base gameplay mechanics too. No new button layouts, no new instructions to play. Helicopter objectives, boat races, the insurance fraud and 18 different assassin missions, and that's not even a fourth of the different things to do in the game! There are just so many "diversions" SR 2 has to offer, while GTA V has, what, 6 scripted heists and thirty-minute long "Tap X to win" triathalons? At least SR 2 had the courtesy to make sprinting easy by assigning it as "Hold R1", leaving the thumb comfortable. Compared to the soon-to-be 5 year old Saints Row 2, GTA V just seems like a couple hundred steps behind in terms of activities and content. Different unarmed fighting styles, territorial gang shootouts, being able to rob all the stores, a garage that actually stores your car (and you can spawn another if it's destroyed), and not to mention some jaw-dropping cutscenes such as "the monster truck scene"... It all seems like Saints Row 2 is the game everyone wants to play when complaining about GTA V. Sure the map is smaller, and it's just cityscape; but sometimes bigger and newer isn't necessarily better. Y'know? Anyone out there feeling the same way? Surely I can't be the only one.
