Why do people still not understand that this is a reboot/different universe. You'd think the completely different geography would be a big ****ing clue.

Playing with the free-roam aspect of the game (one of my favourite things about it) I went on the tram to see where it went, I discovered I can beat up passengers for their money when it's stopped then when it moves to the next stop my wanted star is gone as the police can't get to me. However somehow I managed to get stuck on the tram, none of the buttons on my controller allowed me to move to get off, I could only see external camera views of the tram. The only way I managed to get off was to use the cellphone to do a quick save then reboot my XBox, it starts the game with the character at the same coordinates as it was saved - on the tram tracks but without the tram.

Xbox 360 - Game Keeps Freezing on Franklin's 1st Mission
owl95 replied to MeatButcher's topic in Help & Support
Alright guys, I've been watching this thread closely since yesterday. My story is as follows: Got the game on day 1. Played for a good hour, almost two when it froze. I didn't pay much attention to it, sometimes it happens, so I turned the console off and called it a day. Next day, the really problem started showing up. The game started freezing and freezing, just something that happened constantly. (This didn't work, this is just what I did.) So, I have an Xbox 360 pre-HDMI Premium model hooked with a 120GB HDD. I reinstalled the game again and it still froze. Mind you, I could get AT LEAST half an hour of gameplay everytime, so I can progress through the campaign easily, just have to reboot my console once it freezes. I have a 20GB HDD laying around, so I tried installing it on that. Got maybe 3 or 4 hours of gameplay out of it, and I turned off because I had to run an errand. When I came back, played for an hour before it froze. Now, I kept playing and it kept freezing. It's totally a headache, but not to the point where it's unbearable to play the game. I went out and bought a 16GB Kingston USB 2.0 stick, installed the play disc there (read it on an IGN thread) and played for a good bit until it froze. At this point I realized the problem was not because of a faulty disc, but rather something else. Came here, saw that the common thing among freezing games is the console. Naturally, I shot Rockstar an email, because even though it doesn't stop me from playing the game, it certaintly is an headache. Third day, I start up the console and play for a good 3 hours before it freezes. Something I noticed is that the first attempt is usually one that goes for a good while before it freezes. Everytime it freezes, I switch HDDs and clear the cache on both the HDD and the USB stick. It lets me play for an hour everytime. Well, got the reply from Rockstar. They still don't acknowledge it's their problem, but hey, it's a reply. So, I'll leave it for you guys. -

Got the same problem, first I played the bank robbery mission. then I had black screen, when rebooted I got stuck on loading story mode then reinstalled it, worked fine for 15 hours of play time or something like that. And today I wanted to play again and stuck again on"loading story mode" Can anybody tell what the problem is ? Because I payed a lot of money for the game, and it isn't working properly. Thanks Nicoslijm -
Had the same with my car, saved it in my garage, 5 minutes later = gone.. i rebooted and guess what its in my garage.
-
I had the same issue. fixed itself after rebooting.
-
Does anybody else have this issue on the Xbox 360? I can take a selfie, but when it prompts to press (A) to keep the picture it freezes. A full reboot has to be preformed at that point.

Just got off phone with rs tech support. This is what they say to do. I cleared my cache and it workedThank you for contacting R* Games Support. We're sorry to hear that you're having issues with one of our titles. Below you will find some Console Troubleshooting steps which may help resolve the issue. These are the official troubleshooting steps provided by Microsoft on their support site: Before troubleshooting, please check the following: 1. Turn the console off and on. 2. Unplug all power cords and accessories, and then plug them back in firmly. Make sure all connections are secure. 3. Update your console software (this article from Microsoft details how to check if your console software is up to date http://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-360/system-updates/system-updates-info) Clearing the System Cache: 1. Press the Guide button on your controller, go to Settings, and select System Settings. 2. Select Storage or Memory. 3. Highlight any storage device, and then press Y on your controller. 4. Select Clear System Cache. 5. When prompted to confirm storage device maintenance, select Yes. Clearing the Game Data: (Prior to clearing the game data, ensure that you back up any Save Data so it doesn't become deleted) 1. Press the Guide button on your controller, go to Settings, and select System Settings. 2. Select Storage or Memory. 3. Highlight any storage device, and then press A on your controller. 4. Select Games and Apps. 5. Scroll through the list until you find the game you want to clear the data, once you find it press A on your controller. 6. Delete any game related files which are not "save" files, if these files are deleted they cannot be recovered. 7. Once all of the files have been deleted, go back to the Xbox Dashboard Home. 8. Reboot the game. If this is still happening let's try this on a second 360 to see if the same issue is occurring. Also, follow these links: http://support.rockstargames.com/hc/en-us/articles/200155686-Grand-Theft-Auto-V-Xbox-360-and-PS3-Installation-Requirements http://support.rockstargames.com/hc/en-us/articles/200148846-How-to-tell-whether-failed-installations-or-random-crashes-freezes-glitches-are-caused-by-a-bad-disc-or-console-hardware-issue Cheers, Aaron_AG Aaron A., Sep 18 02:18 pm (EDT):

Xbox 360 - Game Keeps Freezing on Franklin's 1st Mission
MeatButcher posted a topic in Help & Support
Xbox 360 owner. I had no issues installing disc 1 onto the HD. No issues playing through the introductory mission. No issues of cut scene transition between Michael and Franklin Once the driving portion of Franklin's 1st mission start, the game randomly freezes forcing me to reboot the Xbox. There is no precursor for the game locking up; it appears to happen completely randomly and at different times during the mission. It has locked up on me early in the mission when Franklin's buddy calls up on the cell phone just after the driving starts. It has locked up during the second portion of the driving mission when the cops are chasing. I'm not sure what to do. -
Thought we should add a list together of all the amazing glitches & bugs that make gta online such a fun and enjoyable experience, il start - 'Cannot connect to the cloud servers' such power the cloud has... - Spend 30 Minutes creating character, start game, freezes or infinite loading - create character again, forced to watch intro again, start race Infinite 'Searching for players' - reach race tutorial, character walks to his car, 'loading' walk to car cutscene plays again, forced to watch blurry city, have to reboot console - reach race tutorial, character walks to car, car disappears, random people start spawning around you in circle, 'loading' have to wait, other people losing hope people start walking away from the circle, have to reboot console - become the 1%, actually get online, level up a good bit, come back on later, character disappeared. have to create new character and spend eons trying to get back in - actually get online, randomly spawns you in mid air, in the middle of nowhere, game somehow glitched, cant do any missions or anything except free roam, every player is 12 years old, kills you on sight. my personal favorite (very rare) boot game up again after no luck joining last night, hope to god the tutorial mission will work, 'game loading' walk to car cutscene, wait what?! my character has turned into some ugly as hell bald man/lady, with no skills, the f*ck? if i missed any out let me know in the comments

GTA 5 Online update bugged my GTA 5 singleplayer!
beanz86 replied to ansimi's topic in Help & Support
I've had an official response from rockstar support they have sent me 5 possible solutions as they say its caused a corrupt save file. This is a response for ps3 only. Thank you for contacting R* Support. We are sorry to hear you are having issues progressing in GTA V after downloading the Online update. I have spoke to a number of people who had the same problem as you and we were able to find a solution. After deleting the last save file before trying to access the online game fixed the issue, which indicates that a corrupt save file is the problem. I will send you the troubleshooting steps I sent them. We recommend completing them all, especially number 5 addressing corrupt save data: Before troubleshooting, please check the following: a. Turn the console off and on. b. Unplug all power cords and accessories, and then plug them back in firmly. Make sure all connections are secure. c. Update your console software. 1.) Clearing the Game Data Utility: a. In the XMB home menu, go to (Game) > [Game Data Utility]. Important: Make sure you select [Game Data Utility]. Do NOT select [saved Data Utility], as this will delete all of your saved games files. b. Highlight the game data utility file (i.e., name of a particular game you have been playing) you wish to delete. c. Press the button and select [Delete]. d. Highlight "Yes" and press the button to confirm the deletion. e. A message indicating the file is being deleted will appear. f. A "Delete completed." message will appear once the file has been successfully deleted. g. Once all of the files have been deleted, go back to the XMB home menu. h. Reboot the game. You should be prompted to reinstall. **Please note, if the game freezes during installation, please check the following article: http://support.rockstargames.com/hc/en-us/articles/200195537-Freezing-during-GTA-V-installation- 2.) Ensure your PS3s firmware is up to date (settings > system update - on the main menu). 3.) Restore File System If it is up to date then once again delete the game data. Next follow the steps below: a. Turn off Playstation®3. b. Hold The power button down; The system will turn on and turn off once again. c. Once the System has been shutdown, re-press you finger until you hear 2 consecutive beeps d. When you hear the 2 beeps take finger off power button. e. You will be prompted to plug in your controller via usb and then hit the PS button f. The Recovery menu will pop up. g. Select Restore File system h. Repeat and Rebuild Database 4.) Disconnect your PS3 from the internet. We have gotten reports that some players have been able to resolve their issues by disconnecting their console from the internet. It is possible that some freezes are related to some recent server outages that should be resolved shortly. If issues persist, disabling all internet connections on your console should prevent the game from attempting to access the servers. Obviously this is not ideal, but testing this should work at least for troubleshooting purposes, and should be resolved quickly. 5.) Clear save files. Some crashes can be related to corrupted save data, especially crashes at a specific spot, or crashes on launch. The next step would be to isolate the save files, and see if launching without them remedies the issue. There are several ways of doing this: a. Deleting all files in the Save Data Utility related to GTA V. Note: This method will result in permanent loss of data. If the game crashed the first time it launched, no valuable information is stored in here, so they may be deleted freely. If you already played the game for many hours, you may want to consider trying another method. b. Backing up all Save Data Utility files on an external device before deleting all files as described above. c. Possibly the simplest method, and one that also might isolate other potential issues would be to test the game from a brand new PSN ID/Profile. The save files for PS3 games are tied to a specific user. Launching from a new user should cause the game to pull from a brand new pool of files. 5.) Install the game to a new section of the Hard Drive. Another possible troubleshooting step would be to attempt to install the game to a new section of the hard drive. Typically, when installing, and reinstalling games, the system will attempt to reinstall over the same block of space on the HDD. While there is no function to manually force the game to install on a different block of space, there is one possible workaround that might force the game to install on a new section. Basically, what we are going to do is uninstall the game, clear the cache, and then install some unrelated data to the Hard Drive, which should get installed to the block of space where GTA V was previously installing. Please try the following: a. Uninstall the game from the Games and Apps folder. Delete everything related to GTA V that is not a save file. b. Clear the system cache, as was described above. c. Install about 7-8GB of unrelated content. If you have your console connected to the internet, the simplest thing here would be to download a bunch of demos from PSN. The content is unimportant, you never even have to play the demos, the point here is to just eat up some hard drive space, and when you reinstall GTA V, force the console to install the game to a section that was not previously used. If you do not have a a connection, installing 10-12 music CDs should use up enough space, although more might be needed. The idea here is to try to use up approximately the same amount of space as GTA V's install, which is about 8.5GB. d. Reinstall GTA V, and see if conditions improve. 6.) Test the game on a second console, or new hard drive. This last step is potentially the trickiest step, depending on alternate hardware availability, but probably the most important step for determining the cause of major issues on any console. That step would be to test the disc on a separate console. If you have a friend or family member with a PS3, we strongly recommend installing the game on their console, and see if issues persist. If you continue to have issues, please let us know the following: The model of your Playstation 3 The size of your hard drive, How much free space is available The contents of any error code, if applicable. If possible, please submit a screen shot of any error messages, or give the presice wording of the error. Please also provide us with a detailed summary of which of the above steps you were able to try, and details on what effects they had. Additionally, if you were able to try it in another console and the same issue occurred, please provide the model/HD size, etc. of the second system you tested the game on. We are having issues with GTAO, and you can stay apprised at the Rockstar Support site here: http://support.rockstargames.com/hc/en-us/articles/200426246-GTA-Online-Launch-Status-Latest-Updates- -
So i just rebooted and the game forces you to enter into a race, but I still get frozen. It just says waiting for other players while the radio plays in the backround? Anyway to not do the race?
-
Ahh, this happened to me after level 10. Only after turning off the console and rebooting I think.I thought it was some glitch.
-
yes this is happening to me now and I have seen it happen before now. Just seems that access to their cloud servers is not all there. wait some more and try again later. I got to play one death match round then the game locked up showing me the birds eye view from where I was... I had to reboot the game and load it up again and yeah.. now I dont have characters. I know Rockstar hasnt really said anything about the PS3 servers being fixed so I assume they are still on it and its just barely working now but with problems still.

How many people are having major problems with GTA V?
DaMan5one8 replied to Poker2012chu's topic in Help & Support
It's been 6 days since purchasing GTA 5 and I am losing my mind, time, sleep and in the process, all hopes of playing this game. Let me start by saying that I have an Xbox slim, purchased for as a gift for me, last december @ Wal-mart as a Skylander bundle and given to me for christmas. My kids bought me this, because they knew that GTA 5 would be coming and my Xbox had died of the RROD. So, this freezing issue is not just happening to the older machines. I also do have an HDMI port and have tried this as well as every other method described by posters here; Installing Disc one to HDD, to USB(3 new USB's in total), installing disc 2, not installing and Etc. I also have a 4gb slim, but took my old HDD and opened it and added it to my slim. In the beginning I was freezing on the very first words of the game ( 9 years pre...), but eventually got to franklins safehouse only to have it start freezing there as soon as I would leave his bedroom. Many reinstalls later, I was able to save at his house and can now respawn there, but only after a reboot from a crash as it will not reload after a crash. Now I get kicked back to the load up screen at the same spot each and every time, which is during the first real mission where Lamar and Franklin are going to repo the Bike. It happens right where the cut scene should initiate as Franklin should start opening the garage door or as I read in the walkthrough book at work. I also read that if you failed a mission 3 times, that you could skip it, so I thought I would try that out and see if I could finally get past this. After driving my car through the fence and failing this the required 3x's I got that option and accepted it......but it keeps going back to this mission!?! I am really losing my mind and my patience has already left a while ago.........I am also out of $60 and ROCKSTAR NEEDS TO DO SOMETHING!!!!!!!!!!! I know that they don't want this problem to get to much coverage, so they will probably ignore us as long as they can, so they can keep selling their faulty game. We need to use these forums and our words to pressure for a fix. I wish us all luck towards a day when we can all enjoy this purchase, which will be my final if something is not done soon!!! -
I caved in and got gta 5 yesterday, and i played for a few hours and all that happened was a couple freezes. but now, i can't progress in any missions. everytime i get near the mission objective, weird things start happening. such as not being able to open my phone, not being able to shoot my weapon, people around me not moving, and not even being able to pause the game! also if I go into the proper building for my mission, nothing is triggered. I have to constantly reboot and it just keeps happening. any advice? i really would like to enjoy this game but i cant right now
-
it was not accessible when i did that mission either unfortunately. I figured out what was wrong with my stock page, and all the other little problems, the game becomes unstable after hours of continuous play and more and stranger things begin to happen, i rebooted and everything is normal again, lol
-
Ive discovered that lots of my problems are stemming from playing too long at a time. i shut my ps3 off and restarted it and they went away. I was able to jack cars and the cops never bothered me unless i shot someone, my stock market was all screwed up and the portfolio page didnt match markets page. Micheals garage door wouldnt open and when i walk into it from the house it was empty when there shouldve been two cars in there. Pedestrians would instantly call the cops or try to kill me if i stood next to them and didnt do anything aggressive towards them at all. After a mission i got out of the car and jimmy appeard in my seat and started driving 2 feet then got out and was talking to me. a random guy was just standing my driveway not doing anything. tons of little weird things like that started happening. it was like the game got me confused with someone else because the cops were always chasing and crashing into the guy right behind me, lol! The reset seemed to fix it so if anyone else is having unexepected weird things happen i suggest a reboot, should cure it.

I've rebooted, the blimp is completely gone from my save

Xbox 360 - Game Keeps Freezing on Franklin's 1st Mission
Maggot Army replied to MeatButcher's topic in Help & Support
Just joined to add another failed story. I've got a 2007 model sent back for the notorious RROD. I picked up the game about 5 days ago and had no problems with the install or even doing the prologue or Franklin's first mission . I cruised around the vast expanse of the city for about an hour or so and it finally froze. Rebooted and froze within about five minutes. Rebooted again and same thing. sh*t. I resorted to some online advice and saw that this wasn't only a problem with our old and weathered Xboxes. PS3 and some of the newer xboxes are experiencing this as well. So, I deleted all of my save info etc and reinstalled and started again. Again, I got through the prologue and Franklin's mission flawlessly. As soon as I started the bike repo misson it started to freeze again at about the five to ten minute mark again. I figured that it was my xbox so I through in a Skyrim and a few other games and had zero problems. I initially thought that it might be a hardware issue and my xbox might be getting hot, but I figured that about an hour of Skyrim would at least prove this to be true. I was so pissed I just left the game in the drawer for a few days and decided I would return it to the store when I myself cooled off. Last night I finally decided to exchange the game for a new one and did so with little hope. I didn't even bother to reinstall or delete anything. Just popped it in and started the countdown to freeze thirty. An hour goes by and nothing. Cool. Another hour goes by....hell yeah even better. I blow through the bike repo mission and another mission where I help out Tonya or whatever her name is. I kidnap D and my confidence starts to actually build. I take to the beach and jump on a four wheeler and BOOM....there she goes. The fun machine takes a sh*t and dies. Reboot...freeze. Reboot....freeze. Skyrim, no problem. Black Ops 2....no problem. I put my hand on my xbox and it's really not that warm at all. Makes no sense. If MS is right and it's not a hardware issue then good ol R* needs to at least reimburse us fully, or put this stupid app sh*t to the side and focus more on fixing the problem on why we all bought the game to begin with. I really don't give a sh*t about customizing my car from my phone or playing with Chop. Whoopity doo. It's Monday, so I hope that someone there at least took part of their weekend and put a little effort into helping us all out. This is just ridiculous. And if it's not a problem with R* and it's actually on MS's end....then we shouldn't have to pay them to upgrade or "fix" our consoles. We didn't tell them to put now outdated guts in our systems. I for one won't be going out and buying a new xbox just to play this game....that's just crazy. I've done my part and sent R* as much info as I can and will hope that a patch comes or some sort of good news at least. Although, I do have a looming fear that we will all get the shaft -
Nope can only get as far as the very first tutorial mission, it says launching session for ages and nothing happens. Have to do force reboot of the console
-
It's connected. GTA V has a hint towards Nico from Liberty City. And GTA: SA takes place in 1998. GTA V in 2013(?). Times change. 1. Nico is a character from IV which is in the same universe as V and is called the HD universe. 2. San Andreas story takes place in 1992. Shows how much you know. And no, this is NOT SA, this is a reboot. If you don't get that, or don't know what a reboot is then go educate yourself on the matter before you keep making a fool out of yourself.

Tried to reboot the PS3 and still dosnt work, and now the clock is 01:02 and still sais i have to wait for release date =/

This reminds me of my story. My first copy of Red Dead Redemption from 2010 started to behave eery after 3 or 4 days. Never had pop up issues in RDR, but what I am describing would start with textures in the near distance not loading well, low detail, many pop ups and jaggies. Every time, about 5 minutes after the graphics have downgraded, I was not able to move John any longer, he was just frozen. The game itself was not, though! What also happened each and every single time was that after being frozen for about a minute, John would sink into the floor a bit. And when I tried to move forward, even faster. Until he was under the map (he did not fall then, but kept descending in this manner). The first time this happened, I was obviously weirded out. I restarted the console and the game ran normally... For about 10 minutes. Rinse and repeat! Everytime I would reboot, it would give me 5-15 minutes before going to crap again. I watched this for two days before going to the store, trying to explain what's wrong. They neither understood, nor believed me, but thankfully gave me another copy because I insisted... and from then on, I have never had any issues with the game again. But the story does not stop here, as I had to get two new consoles in the mean time. Everybody I described this to said my Xbox was getting the RROD. In fact, it did about a month later... But that is the nature of Xboxes! I didn't put much thought into it, but some people do report that both the 360 and PS4 can make games glitchy until they are unplayable... But why did this not happen when I changed to another copy of the game then? Also, my second Xbox also got the RROD and did so spontaneously while playing RDR 3 months later. Distorted screen and frozen console with that damn red light was all that happened the second time around, no glitched games. So I am not sure we should associate this behavior with a dying console. But I do feel like mentioning it, because your game sounds so "broken" that it reminded me of what happened to me. Do other games play fine? Then I would not associate it with the console (even the hard drive, cache, etc) but simply with a broken save game... or faulty disk. Then again, it could of course happen that next time you play the game, everything has fixed itself. Let's hope for that!
