I wrote to RockStar about this last week after losing two custom cars for two separate single player characters. To date they have never reappeared for a loss of over 45k! Unfortunately, after waiting over 7 days for a response, all I got from them was this BS boilerplate/copy/paste response which we all know isn't going to do a damned thing to fix this GAME BUG! Its really too bad that they even bother to offer a bug submission report section when they are obviously unwilling to actually read and address the reports submitted! Brian J, Oct 26 04:55 pm (EDT): Hello, Thank you for contacting R* Games Support. We're sorry to hear that you're having issues with one of our titles. Below you will find some Console Troubleshooting steps which may help resolve the issue. These are the official troubleshooting steps provided by Microsoft on their support site: Before troubleshooting, please check the following: 1. Turn the console off and on. 2. Unplug all power cords and accessories, and then plug them back in firmly. Make sure all connections are secure. 3. Update your console software (this article from Microsoft details how to check if your console software is up to date http://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-360/system-updates/system-updates-info) Clearing the System Cache: 1. Press the Guide button on your controller, go to Settings, and select System Settings. 2. Select Storage or Memory. 3. Highlight any storage device, and then press Y on your controller. 4. Select Clear System Cache. 5. When prompted to confirm storage device maintenance, select Yes. Clearing the Game Data: (Prior to clearing the game data, ensure that you back up any Save Data so it doesn't become deleted) 1. Press the Guide button on your controller, go to Settings, and select System Settings. 2. Select Storage or Memory. 3. Highlight any storage device, and then press A on your controller. 4. Select Games and Apps. 5. Scroll through the list until you find the game you want to clear the data, once you find it press A on your controller. 6. Delete any game related files which are not "save" files, if these files are deleted they cannot be recovered. 7. Once all of the files have been deleted, go back to the Xbox Dashboard Home. 8. Reboot the game. If this is still happening let's try this on a second 360 to see if the same issue is occurring. Cheers, Brian J ============================== I'm now afraid to use any of my custom/modified cars for anything in the single player because the odds of losing them is so high, and when they vanish, they are gone forever! Only way to get them back is to revert to a previous save and lose all the progress you might have made in the meantime. Total BS! P.S. I am running on XBOX 360 with all the latest patches/updates to the game installed.

Cheers, Brian J Imgonnalive4eva, Oct 21 02:26 pm (EDT): Hi, I'm experiencing a comepletely gamebreaking bug. All LS Customs, hairdressers, clothes shops and tatoo parlours have disappeared from my game. They are not highlighted on the map, and if I try to go into one the doors remain closed. I've completed the game 100% and now have enough money to buy these things, but the bug is preventing me. I cannot continue to play this game if I can't modify cars!! There are a lot of other people experiencing the same issue as me. Please see this Youtube video (Preview) Please could you let me know what you are doing about this? Because at the moment the game is broken for myself and a lot of others. Many Thanks -
Really Rockstar? My character is deleted after 1.05 patch
BenniMBXD replied to BenniMBXD's topic in GTA V
If you're going to play anyway, select character slot 2. Your character will be back, your cloud is probably just down. Either select slot 2 and play with a temporary character of reboot your console and try again to see if the cloud servers are back. yeah, when i did the character earlier i did it in the 2nd slot. And now i can remember that shortly before i got a message that rockstar cloud service was unavailable. Maybe that is the problem... -

He comes second to Tommy. But he's sure close. His voice actor really nails his lines, some of my favourite lines come from Michael. I can't help but think the way I have styled him has added to his overall feel. Awesome suits a neck tattoo and his already bought glasses. I can imagine him in his own italian mafia orientated game. The game definitely would be more engaging and deep if it was just him and they went as deep as they did with Niko. That's how I feel anyway. I would of LOVED to of gone a lot deeper into the Movie studio missions with him in V. That would of felt great. Because of three characters it certainly felt fake, he was like 'Im a movie producer', yet I had only done 2 missions in that role, it didn't feel substancial. Wher as when Niko boasted or spoke of something in the past or something he had achieved, we had done 20 missions with him in that 'saga' during his story. They have taken important detail out of the storytelling in aid of adding a 3 character gameplay mechanic ultimately, which for me is a bad decision. Franklin I felt was just a reboot of CJ ultimately aspiring to the same 'making paper' goal, and Trevor, he was awesome, but could only work in the way he did. He wouldn't work in his own standalone story because it would get really annoying after a few hour, he would make way too many decisions the gamer wouldn't want for story purposes.

After success to get my FIB car I continued to play my game. I began to notice some slight lag in game while online so thought it best to reboot the Xbox. After reboot I noticed my character changed. He was now wearing the Aviator Headset w/microphone. Now it is kinda cool but not what I want to wear all the time. Toggled inventory didn't see any option to turn it off or deselect. So I placed a mask on to change it Mask worked however the "bald" bug attached itself to my char after mask removal. Drove to a barber shop changed back to having hair. And my green aviator glasses and original character face returned. I didn't even have to select my sunglasses. Played the game another hour doing missions/crates/random exploring game began to get laggy again so.... rebooted the Xbox. Returned back into game and the same thin happend again. Aviator headset w/mic. This didnt start till I put the FIB emergency car in my garage. So... Thought about it and becaaiae I can't sell it I walked out of the garage and found a Gauntlet drove to LSC new paint job. Replaced the FIB car with the Gauntlet then saved/exited game. Rebooted Xbox logged back online & my character still was wearing the Aviator Headset w/microphone. I can change it easily after logging back into game. The aviator headset was never there till I added the FIB car to my garage. Cept when flying. It's just kinda annoying now to have the aviator headset as a default appearance. but only takes few seconds to remove it/change & return back to playing.

Because Rockstar said so. It's a different universe where none of the major character of the GTA III era existed in the "HD Universe's" world. GTA IV was essentially a reboot of the series. http://www.rockstargames.com/newswire/arti...claude-dar.html The GTA III era is over and has been for seven years now with the release of Vice City Stories. People need to get over it. Chinatown Wars is still set in HD Liberty City. As far as I know, none of the characters cross over anyway, which means their design and art style doesn't really matter. 2001: 2012: What I'm trying to illustrate here, is that characters look completely different after a decade of graphical improvement anyway. If we were to see a modern Tommy Vercetti, he'd likely look like Michael (but about 20 years older). I dunno I imagine Tommy would be harder looking, given the tech advancements he'd probably look more like Ray Liotta. The main reason for Max's changes in appearance from MP1 to MP2 to MP3 were budget and creative. Technology of course had a role but in each game they had someone else as the "face model", though the voice remained consistent. It took until MP3 and Rockstar deciding to have James McCaffrey do both where as in MP1 Max's face was modeled after Sam Lake due to Remedy not having the budget to hire someone outside the company to do it and MP2 Remedy used another guy to give Max the rugged look they wanted but they're undoubtedly the same universe. The universe of the GTA III era "3D Universe" games simply doesn't fit the "HD Universe" and its general tone.

Also what these people don't seem to get is that R* is sort of rebooting the franchise so it doesn't become stale that's why there are different universes and characters. You have to move forward to progress not stay the same . Edit:The guy above already said it before me.

Two ways to look at it. Both are valid: Cities are different. Cities from the 3D era and the HD era cannot be reconciled because they are too different. The locations where 3D era events took place don't exist in the HD versions of the cities. Therefore the 3D events never happened and therefore the participants in those events don't exist either. Rockstar wanted to reboot. Fresh start. New stories. 3D era story is done. HD era here to stay ... for now. Get used to it.

Watch Dogs, maybe, but I still think it a lot different from GTA V, I buy them both SR4!!! HAHAHA never. It will never beat gta V. A game like SR2 could come close, but how the series is developed now , no sadly not . They should reboot the whole series. Creating a gang vs gang game again. Where you have to fight your way up to power. This is the only chance to compete with games like gta and watch dogs in the future. Otherwise the THQ bankruptcy also took Saints Row's life

San Andreas is a Masterpiece imo and still looks good to this day. i rebooted it on my regular xbox earlier this year and its still a Fantastic game that depicts LA and Vegas really well. i didnt care much for the missions, i was just into the Turf Wars, customizing my cars and stocking up on guns. you could literally enjoy that game and Never leave Los Santos.

My opinion on female protagonists in GTA V
The New Blueguy replied to The New Blueguy's topic in GTA V
This just proves you have no idea what you're talking about, man. Every time I see you guys use the term 'feminist movement' I cringe a little more. I'm not talking about women's rights. Hell, that girl's IGN blog post wasn't even talking about feminism and women's rights. It's not a frickin' political statement to want to play as a female character. And if you really do have a wife and daughters with that attitude, you're only hurting yourself. I am married, but if I was blessed with daughters, I wouldn't be sitting there talking about their mood swings and getting sh*t from my wife. Also, if you don't care to know how a woman feels, why get married? That's some dangerously bottled up sh*t right there. First I love My daughter and Wife more than anything. But I do not want to know how they feel. I empathize with them but I will never truly know how they feel. I am a man we were made different for a reason. If you cringe oh well I at 29 have no interest playing as a Women in GTA. Now Streetfighter or Killer instinct Tekken its cool but not GTA. Like I said I think it would hurt sales her in the US and Piss off a lot of Loyal customers who have been down since gta1 for a few in the minority. Like I said earlier Saints Row has this feature and I never played as a female. Look at like this Saints Row Also pandered to a certain minority and killed its Franchise. Now they are talking about rebooting the seriers without SRIV even coming out yet. I am all for certain type of change but that is too drastic of a step. Didn't GTA SA appeal to a certain minority group and it's still one of the best selling GTA games? Woah there, what you calling me a minority, why it matter we all bleed the same, no such thing as races just human race Don't be ignorant... -

Okay. Let's explain it all again. The cities are different. Los Santos in GTA:V is completely different to the Los Santos from GTA:SA. Because the cities are so completely different, the key places where the events of GTA:SA took place do not exist in the version of Los Santos we will see in GTA:V. So because the locations don't exist, the events cannot have happened. Because the events cannot have happened, the characters that participated in and were shaped by said events cannot exist either. So there we are. Characters, events and locations from the 3D era universe cannot exist in the HD universe. The perception of the 3D universe by the inhabitants of the HD universe is that it is fictional or mythological at best. But when you get right down to it, all the above is bollocks anyway. You want to know the truth? Because it seems like you can't handle the truth. Here's the truth anyway: Rockstar got fed up of the 3D universe. They felt they had taken the stories and characters as far as they could go. So they drew a line under it and started over. They rebooted. That's it. That's the real reason. [RANT] In fact. You know what? I'm fed up of explaining this. F*ck know how many times I've had to type all this crap out, just to try to help. And it gets ignored time after time. I'll tell you what. Go ahead. Knock yourself out and believe what you want. You go right ahead and try and find CJ or Sweet or any of the rest of them walking around in GTA:V. Because let me tell you, you're gonna be looking for a looooooooooooooooooooong time. Good luck! [/RANT] FYI: The above rant is somewhat tongue in cheek. No offence in intended. Peace dudes.

Are you mad bro? Did someone touch you or something? Jesus. Yes I am mad. I am mad when I see stupid people who can't understand something really simple and make 200 posts about it. Stick your "universe is different" sh*t up your ass bro. OK, I'll stick it to myself and Rockstar is going to stick it up yours. So in the end we both have it in the same place, I was just smart enough to choose how to do it and you will feel violated. The GTA Universe is one single entity which R* slightly alters every now and then mostly due to tech limitations which are almost a thing of the past thanks to the incoming NEXT-GEN. You are either a troll or have never read anything Rockstar themselves said about the universes and have never given a single thought about why they did it. You see, if they were to make IV in LC they had two ways of doing it: 1. To remake the old LC from III and set the story there, which would then have to make sense with everything we know about the III's story, would be too small and would be a familiar city with nothing new. 2. Make a new city for a new experience, delete everything that previously happened and reboot the whole franchise in that sense. The second option is obviously better from artistic and business point of view and they did just that. They rebooted the franchise. If you don't know what a reboot means, it means anything before reboot is forgotten and remain completely separated from the new story. Check any franchise in games or movies that got rebooted. Of course it was easier to keep the general sense of the game with brands and city names. But characters and character specific locations are gone (go look for Salvatore's house in IV if you want to, or any other landmark from III that is not a real life landmark), lost in that old story and reboot allows for new stories to be told. It's got nothing to do with tech limitations. The thing is though LC wasn't based solely on NYC but Los Santos was and still is based on Los Angeles, if its not the same universe why go though the trouble of putting Mount Chiliad from SA in the game ? Why does Vinewood still exist ? Why are all the brands from the III era still going strong ? Why have the Ballas and GSF returned ? Explain that or STFU.

I was beginning to think I was alone by not wanting to do the 'ghetto' thing. I'd rather explore the mafia route again. I enjoyed SA. I've enjoyed every GTA. I like Frank's story too. It was necessary to have a character we can all enjoy. The rags to riches needs the money guy The reluctant professional criminal The crazy mass murderer reckless classic GTA nutcase. We've had an immigrant in IV obviously GTA III was more of a blank canvas. Vice City was the mobster taking over a city story. Each time it's hitting a note with somebody. Not everyone wants to be in 'da hood'. I hope they continue to keep the characters fresh. It's tough now because we've been everything from a mafia gangster to a gangbanger to a redneck to a biker to a war weary immigrant. But just by taking Franklin and starting his CJ style story at the end it stops Frank being CJ 2. It will get tougher to keep breaking fresh ground. GTA V has disappointed some people simply because it doesn't have some of the ground breaking features the R* brought through in other games. They set their own bar. GTA V is a great game being compared with other great GTA games. It was sort of expected to have every feature from all R* games to create the ultimate R* game. But it isn't. It's a good game in its own right. Until the day comes where we have LA Noire facial expressions as a bloke plays poker in a casino he owns with recruited body guards stood around him moments after he ate an interactive meal in an interactive restaurant... until that day I hope they just keep things fresh and don't go rebooting great games just to give fancy graphics. R* are victims of their own success. If they stepped out after GTA III and then released GTA V with all it's features then its would blow our minds. They set a high bar. I love their games. All have something that sets them apart.

So I was a bit into Trevors storyline and found a place to play darts. Started playing darts and my controller battery started getting low, so I unplugged my Astro A50's from the usb in the Xbox and it rebooted the game. After that, the game won't even get to the Rockstar logo screen. Just give me a black screen like my TV isn't on. I tried removing my usb storage and just boot the game up like a fresh install, but i just gets stuck on the load screen with the girl in the red bikini. Plug my usb back in and it goes black again. Anyone have this happen?

This is what they told me. To be clear, I did everything in here and even told them I've done so. It's like they didn't even read. Thank you for contacting R* Games Support. We're sorry to hear that you're having issues with one of our titles. Below you will find some Console Troubleshooting steps which may help resolve the issue. These are the official troubleshooting steps provided by Sony on their support site: Before troubleshooting, please check the following: 1. Turn the console off and on. 2. Unplug all power cords and accessories, and then plug them back in firmly. Make sure all connections are secure. 3. Update your console software. Clearing the Game Data Utility: 1. In the XMB home menu, go to (Game) > [Game Data Utility]. Important: Make sure you select [Game Data Utility]. Do NOT select [saved Data Utility], as this will delete all of your saved games files. 2. Highlight the game data utility file (i.e., name of a particular game you have been playing) you wish to delete. 3. Press the button and select [Delete]. 4. Highlight "Yes" and press the button to confirm the deletion. 5. A message indicating the file is being deleted will appear. 6. A "Delete completed." message will appear once the file has been successfully deleted. 7. Once all of the files have been deleted, go back to the XMB home menu. 8. Reboot the game. If this is still happening let's try this on a second PS3 to see if the same issue is occurring. Best Regards, Michael S.

Why are people so resistant to the different universes? It's like people seriously think reboots don't exist in an age that is plauged by reboots and remakes...
