What do YOU want for Single Player DLC?

A 70s and 80s DLC would be amazing. Imagine them rebooting the Deluxo from Vice City only make it look even more like a DMC 12 all while listening to a 80s music station. It could just be LSRR and K-DST mixed and add some more classic rock songs

    Grove Street Families Easter Egg

@shade04rek I think GTA's Multi-Universes Module is way better than a total reboot, now some examples is Tomb Raider, instead of learning from GTA's Module they totally rebooted a Legendary Franchise destroying every great thing about it and causing fans Outrage same with DMC and Mortal Kombat,I pray R* never Reboots GTA and continue with the Multiverses Scheme, because that what happening with Franchises that started in the 80s and 90s these days (except DMC which didnt start in the 90s),GTA will be 20 years in just 3 years (2017) and maybe a new GTA comes out afterwards and it should still be an HD Era game.I know a total reboot cant change GTA's status as a powerful Franchise and the Ruler of the Genre but damn it will cause alot of outrage not just in the GTA Community but accross the Gaming Industry.

    Grove Street Families Easter Egg

The "easter egg" refers to the old families inhabitants of grove st. So whoever it was, it was so long ago that they left somehow, so long ago new people from the rival gang had the opportunity to completely move in. I'd say it references the 90's grove set but from HD. That is that in this regard. Looking further in to it the HD grove st famililies may or may not of been CJ's crew. If not, the GSF were nobodies that died out(maybe not literally dies, but it doesn't matter, theyre fodder). If they were CJs people, they, their versions in the HD universe, were still nobodies and might as well be those random hood peds, I guess HD GSF were from the 90's or something and like normal people in a big ass city/world, get lost and forgotten in time. I prefer going with that belief. R* should of just called it a f*cking reboot. That way they can use whoever they want without explaining. That is what they meant, but made it sound like a dead on rule, which they bent anyway. They should of been like: "For the most part all of the 3D characters and names wont be featured nor mentioned, but even if any were, their history and development from the 3D era isn't canon." Also, Im pretty sure old low quality characters can be updated and look the same, not that R* or anyone would always do it satisfactorily or not... probably no. I need to upload a pic of my CJ online character, its not bad at all. Considering the create a char system we have to use, It is unbelievable.

My Final Thoughts on GTA V

GTA III was R*'s first foray. Vice City was when they hit it big. Talking protagonist, better and more complex story, fully licenced soundtrack full of 80's hits, map twice as big as Liberty City, bikes, planes, helicopters, assets, much bigger variety of weapons etc. It was unlucky, because after it came San Andreas, which, once again was a bigger game, so VC's accomplishments were forgotten. But like I said, bigger =/= better. I think it was just as important to the franchise as San Andreas, EfLC or V. Only III and IV really turned the series around, which is logical, because they are reboots. That doesn't make other GTAs any worse or even pointless. You can't start from scratch and build a whole new game every time.

    Has GTA gone soft?

GTA did that 15 years ago this week, with London 1969 (1999) released on March 30th on PC,then April 29th on PS1,i myself would love a reboot of that game and it doesnt have to affect the whole franchise or be cannon with the HD Era but unfortunately Dan Houser said that is unlikely to happen again but hey GTAO could take us to that setting seeing it an evolving mmo-like GTA multiplayer franchise

    Snapmatic Backups

Wow, I am such an idiot. A couple of days ago I had to reboot the server that has the daemon which handles fetching images and zipping them. But totally forgot to bring back up the daemon. The uptime monitor is only monitoring the webserver, not the actual API which is how this went through unnoticed. Anyway, the service is back up. Sorry for the downtime. (T_T ) (Also updated the post on Reddit, where one user noticed the tool was down. <3 the Internet)

    Grove Street Families Easter Egg

Well the term reboot is a bit vague, or maybe not the correct term. I really only meant story-wise, hence the story and world since IV being the newer take on the old 3D era gta world with all new characters and more realisticness/ less cartoony. As for gameplay, the game-play always seems like it is a "reboot" anyway.

GTA V Metaphors, Philosophy and Hidden Meanings.

Replying to a previous question, it's the latest Tomb Raider, the reboot from 2013. I still prefer the old ones but this is a nice waste of time as the gameplay's good enough. It's undeniable that it would be too much of a coincidence. A cult dedicated to the Sun Queen Himiko decided to leave drawings and writings around the game world, including drawings of the sun and stuff like "embrace the flames" and we have something very similar in GTA V. As for the glyphs, they seem to indicate when a tomb is nearby, though I don't see the relation between tombs and the glyphs. They don't picture anything that I can relate to the tombs and the treasures. Maybe it's a mystery of its own, one that Rockstar paid homage to. The parody theory by our friend "Fool" fits right in. I'm still playing TR. What can I say? I keep seeing all those things and the more they look like GTA V's "mystery". Nothing has been found in the files yet so all I can think is (keep in mind it's just a bunch of theories): a) It's a jab, just like Rockstar has been doing since, like, ever; b) It's a jab but at the same time a clue that'll lead us to something; c) Since they seem to point out tombs in TR, maybe there's still a hidden cave ("tomb") that we haven't found in GTA? That wouldn't need a full new interior, I think, and the infamous alien egg could be there; d) Since there's interest enough, a DLC will follow By the way, there's also a "ritual of fire" in TR which reminds me very much of the Altruists' sacrifices, ritual stone and that cave with the everlasting fire. Also a thunderstorm that takes out a plane, which reminded me of the lightnings in the mural. There are way more "coincidences" but, really, I think I said and showed enough already! I wanted to say something before but I was afraid of offending someone... I hope no one gets offended but I think it's time I say it: some members around here and elsewhere are looking exactly like the kind of "GTA player" we see in the news, you know the kind. Brian, for instance, seems to have GTA as the sun of his universe. People: this is unhealthy. It wouldn't be surprising if all this time it was just a reference to the latest Tomb Raider game and many of you missed because you can only think of GTA and how all the metaphors in there changed your life (!!). This is just a game, one game. There are lots of great games out there and Rockstar themselves knows and pays homage in their own way. Think about it. Maybe the answer is a lot more easy and simple than "oh my God, look at what R* did with all that deep messages and stuff!!". Maybe GTA is not that deep. Maybe there's a whole world out there we've been ignoring.

    The IV versus V debate

then that brings out the Controversial question, with next-gen is GTA Getting a complete reboot (God Forbid)?.......which i dont see happen since V was universally successful and acclaimed,it won many awards got nominated for many other and it was a Record-breaker game to the Entertainment (Gaming Industry),if anything i will say next-gen GTAs will all be subtitled and we wouldnt see the number VI (6) for a long time.Afterall that what most franchises (series)-Old or New,are doing with the PS4 and XboxOnei.e.Instead of Infamous3 it Infamous:SS,MGS 5 it MGS 5:GZ and then MGS 5: Phanthom Phain.so i see the same with GTA and Red Dead (even though RD isnt an old franchise like GTA and only began in 2004).

ps3 freezing problem with gta 5

This happens to me on the odd occasion... and just like OP, it only happens with GTA V. The screen just freezes at one point. Sometimes the radio keeps playing. The PS3 doesn't feel like it's over heating and a quick reboot later, I can play for hours without it happening again. Maybe it's the disc... maybe the hard drive...who knows? But if it is indeed the PS3 dying... I don't care all that much, I already purchased a PS4 and xBox One.

    Boiler Suits

I wouldn't give up so soon, after all your game kicked in the ? missions from now-where, it may cause the HS to appear. Do a quick save (in a new or very old slot) then turn of your console. Give the machine a break then power up and load up. If the HS icon isn't present, give the game engine a little exercise by driving around and interacting. Quick save in a new or oldest slot, shut down and reboot. If this doesn't enable to HS icon to pop up, you will need to reload the nearest save you have to the point before this mission started and replay the heist set up.

Grove Street & CJ: Hd vs 3D In GTA5

But Chris, this isn't new to GTA, they already "rebooted" once before hand by wiping out the 2D era with GTA3 onwards. Same exact situation, some things and jokes crossed over, came back as Easter Eggs, etc, but it was done so they could have a new design and story to set up. Just because the 3D era was popular doesn't mean they can't change universes again. That's all this comes down to, long time GTA players are more accepting of it whilst it seems to be fans who jumped on board from the 3D era who seem to be crying most over this.

Grove Street & CJ: Hd vs 3D In GTA5

Grove Street. Home. At least it was before some sh*tty writer who likes to reboot everything because he can't contribute to an ongoing story f*cked everything up. In all seriousness though, I like all of the new stuff that the new GTAs have given us. And while I am completely and totally against separating "universes" and "eras" and all that made-up bullsh*t that even Rockstar acknowledges is illogical, it's not like I want to play as Tommy or CJ or Claude so much that I think everything else is sh*t. I just think that universes is a stupid idea, because they've already made Marvel comics a confusing clusterf*ck, they've already made DC comics a confusing clusterf*ck, they're in the process of turning Star Wars into a confusing clusterf*ck, and the endless stream of reboots, remakes and reimaginings has been turning classic Hollywood into a confusing clusterf*ck for the longest time now. I don't want GTA to turn into another piece of sh*t like the new Robocop movie. When Bob Morton said "Lose the arm," he meant "Lose the f*cking arm, we're trying to build goddamn Robocop, not some sh*tty rip off." All the old stuff could be reintegrated with the new stuff without even bringing back any of the old stuff just by giving us a simple in-story explanation for some of the few minor differences like why Mount Chiliad is located to the north (earthquakes and terraforming), why Grove has different houses (urban renewal), why there's no bridges leading to Venturas or San Fierro (America's crumbling infrastructure) as opposed to a newswire post about how their writers decided to spend a great deal of time coming up with a ton of new stuff for the same old setting and then coming up with the laziest excuse ever for not seeing any old familiar faces. We didn't need a reason, let alone even a good one, but we sure got a Hell of a stupid one.

Grove Street & CJ: Hd vs 3D In GTA5

For some reason it's fine when a movie franchise does a reboot, when comic books do a reboot, even when another game franchise does a reboot.. .but WHERE IS CJ????? is all a GTA fanboy must ask around here. I really hoped Rockstar wouldn't include Groove street in the game as it only reinforced their beliefs that somehow CJ once lived there around the time Franklin was born, and should be easy to find, riding his jetpack above the ghettos.

Grove Street & CJ: Hd vs 3D In GTA5

"It didn't feel like like they were throwing anything out". So basically you never paid much attention to the story of the 2D era, thus it's OK for them to do the reboot there. 2D era had a huge over arc story of business corruption which had a high point of the Zaibatsu Corp. In GTA2.

Grove Street & CJ: Hd vs 3D In GTA5

The problem is that you can't simply explain all those things. How in hell do you explain that over a span of only 20 years a big metropolis completely changed it's layout and all the surrounding countyside changed as well? And also, you'd have fans asking what's up with the characters, what happened to each and every one of them and why are they not in the story. Or they'd have to write a story for them just to please the fans and answer those questions. Carrying over those characters only puts a burden on the future stories, so it is much better to scrap them and make it a reboot. Sometimes it's best to have those stories wrapped up and left on the shelf. It's only people like you who have some sort of a problem accepting that this story doesn't have any connections to the previous ones, and a few hints here and there, like graffiti in IV, are just a way of acknowledging their previous work and nothing more than that.

    Same 2-3 cars spawning bug

Sorry for double post. I've got some guy telling me on support that clearing the cache and rebooting the console should help. vvvv I mean, really? I've done that a billion times already, and it doesn't fix it one bit. I don't know any more. Might just play other games until it gets fixed. If it ever does.

GTA V Metaphors, Philosophy and Hidden Meanings.

Definitely not disproving, but i just watched it a few times, definite plane shadow, but from my first view i thought it was one of those that fly over sandy shores, you know one of these types, the tail end looked like what this plane has to me? Sorry i couldn't get a better picture, apparently typing into google 'plane flies over sandy shores' doesn't quite cut it. Also, completely not even game related, i just found out there's going to be a sequel to the tomb raider reboot of last year and i'm more excited than i could possibly put into words. Looks like i'm going to have to bite the bullet and move onto next gen for that and gtav.

The Independence Day Special (In association with Ammu-Nation)

Did you check the military site and Ammunation? Yes war stock cash and carry. It's not there? Oh I seem to have lost it from my single player game too. Reboot. I'll report back. When I buy it I'm going to spend the rest of my money. I've spent 3 mil on cars and eclipse tower. It's not there, wtf? I already played with it in SP yesterday and now the update just isn't registering at all, re download. Ok that worked, I really hate these limited time downloads. Make everything available.

    DLC/Update 1.15 Problems Topic.

When it says to click "ok" to update, I do, then the screen goes black and nothing, it just sits. I unplugged my PS3 once from the back, rebooted, then it did it again, I have let it sit for 10 mins, nothing, just a blank black screen. Anyone else having issues?
  23. PaddyM

What was wrong with the port of GTA IV on the PC?

We're going on 6 years since it was released, and despite numerous patches and multiple hardware upgrades, the game still runs like I'm at about 70% of the minimum system requirements. It runs well at times, and then it will inevitably require a reboot to correct the memory leaks and general choppiness, and there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to what triggers these issues in any given session. I could never quite get a handle on how best to run the game; every combination of settings and commands and tweaks I tried seemed to make little difference. I've never had this problem with any other game, certainly not for 5 or 6 years. Many people in this thread are saying they had no trouble with IV, or only had trouble when they owned a low-spec PC, but this just proves the point even further - the optimisation is so bad that it only worked well on a very specific set of hardware configurations, a Holy Grail which most of us could never find. A well-optimised game would have the opposite effect, in that it would run well for most people, with only a few suffering persistent performance issues. GFWL is marginally less intrusive and pig-headed than uPlay, but it's very much of the same needless, hateful ilk. The Rockstar Social Club was patched out of the game eventually, which was a pleasant surprise, but before that it was yet another cumbersome, unwieldy, and unwanted chunk of DRM injected into a game which was already dripping with it. The serial number, the online activation of a limited number of keys (and DEactivation! You couldn't even UNinstall the game without permission!) and being forced to keep the game disc in the drive to play it, all driven by the lovely SecuRom, wasn't enough apparently. On top of that, we had to install GFWL, create an account to use it, and then do the same with the Rockstar Social Club, handing over hefty chunks of personal information to two "services" no one in their right mind would opt into, and logging into both of these services at least once each before being allowed to play the game. To get from installing the game to actually seeing the main menu, you'd need to take the day off f*ckin' work. Pirates have to contend with precisely zero of these issues. Playing IV takes real patience, it's an almost vocational pursuit. The enjoyment I get from the game is just barely ahead of the frustration I experience with both the performance issues and being treated like a despised criminal for having the temerity to actually pay for the game. This is why I'm holding off on ordering GTA V. I know MP3 was well-optimised, but I've really had enough of making all of these personal compromises just to play a video game (admittedly uPlay has done the most damage to my mental health in that respect). If the reviewers start mentioning the same kind of sh*t that IV had, be it insane amounts of DRM and/or pervasive performance issues, I'm saving my cash.

    Same 2-3 cars spawning bug

ok guys, I tried it now with a brand new Ps3 with the latest patches installed. No difference at all! As soon as Im able to free roam this stupid bug appears.. The car pattern on the street stays the same until I reboot the console. Then I get a different pattern and I have to reboot again to get another one. Im trying it now with patch 1.6, its really working to just download the first part of the patches and cancel after the first one installed.

The GTA V at Gamescom Discussion Thread

GTA III wasn't a direct sequel to a story that was started in the previous game(s), though. The principle is the same, I suppose. But the "butthurt" is stronger in this case, because the new Tomb Raider exclusive is actually a direct continuation of Lara Croft's journey towards becoming the Tomb Raider everyone knows in the old games. The journey that was started in last year's multi-platform reboot.
