You shouldn't be able to carry all the weapons...
Fuzzknuckles replied to Mukaparska's topic in GTA V
I'd like a return to the Manhunt style - you can carry one of each weapon type, and you can see them being carried. Similar to RDR. God damn I want a Manhunt HD remake/reboot. Something with the fighting of The Warriors, with the brutality and intensity of the first Manhunt, played out in an open world city the size of Los Santos V2. MAKE THIS HAPPEN, ROCKSTAR. -
GTA V is definitely the best installment in the series. From a storyline, gameplay, multiplayer and an environmental POV. I don't really get all the love for the GTA IV story. It is a good story with lots of mafioso paranoia and gang crossover, but I couldn't even really tell you how things escalate, as it's quite forgettable. There's diamonds, everyone wants the diamonds. Who's got the diamonds? Oh, no-one? How ironic. Plus all that stuff with Kate McReary was just embarrassing. At no point did I care about her, least of all when she was gunned down. At the time, in 2008, a lot of pop culture was focused on the whole 'gritty reboot' thing and GTA IV slotted in nicely. But this made the game itself very grey, cold and uninspiring. Roman was f*cking well annoying and I didn't care much for the over-reaching Russian immigrant vibes (Russian radio stations, awful clothes etc) Most of the missions were just hits on someone for a sum of money. I know GTA is a game full of murdering, but the heists in a new one have added a reconnaissance and planning aspect completely absent from the previous installment.

I have just updated to patch 1.11 - I only play offline, not online. When I drive from Franklin's house to Simeon's dealership to start the motorcycle repossession mission with Lamar, I have problems. After Franklin gets out of his car and walks into the dealership, Simeon appears and says something along the lines of "Franklin, my dear boy!". Simeon then just stands there with his arms open and nothing else happens. I can get Franklin to walk around, but I cannot get into vehicles, run, switch weapons, fight etc. If I walk away from the dealership and back again, Simeon is still stood there - Franklin can walk straight through him too! I have tried rebooting my machine, reinstalling GTA5, formatting the HDD, doing a system restore and even rebuilding the database and restoring the file system. The missions before this one are all fine. Is this a bug and how can I get past this point in the game?

Why is the era thing so hard for people to understand.... Right? People can understand reboots when it comes to movies like Batman and Robocop, but with Grand Theft Auto they can't figure it out. Anyways, it all really depends on what you want to believe. The Deal Ending made it seem very obvious that Niko was going to go straight and try his hardest to help Mallorie raise Romans child well. The Revenge Storyline is a little more murky. It seems obvious that he wants to give up the criminal lifestyle, but he seems to have given up on having a normal life by the end of it. That's just my take on it, at least.

PS3 Slim, purchased the game disc on release day, have been enjoying SP and Online since. Approximately one month ago, the game froze during the loading screen and I could not get past it. Repeated attempts resulted in the same. Did the appropriate research, attempted game delete/re-installs, with/without internet, and went through the System Restore / System Rebuild process. Regardless of my methods, it always results in the same; the game will begin the installation process, and freeze when it reaches 5885mb. If I reboot and attempt to continue the re-install, it freezes at 1308mb. The disc is clean, and has been taken care of. Any help would be appreciated. EDIT: Have now submitted a R* Ticket.

I just hope with Next-Gen,GTA doesnt get a total reboot (it should stick with the Multiverse) cus alot of fans-old or new will start to bash Rockstar same thing happened with Tomb Raider and Square Enix last year.but hey it just only 3 years before GTA becomes 20 years so maybe after that a reboot might be in plan but God forbid that shouldnt happen afterall they have a whopping 45 years ideas for GTA

Meanwhile in Saintsrowforum.com.... SR Member1:Saints Row 4 was just retarded,i was expecting features like Watching TV and Getting Lap dance like in the GTA series but no what do we get?A f*cking Purple Giant Dildos,an Alien Storyline and a Over-the-top-sh*t. SR Member2:I miss the days when SR felt a bit like GTA and yeah GTA 5 strip club interactivity is Great unlike Saints Row,i have always wish a Saints Row game will copy that feature SR Member3:Lol Volition are retarded,we cant even swim or buy stuff, and the map is the same as the last game only with Aliens.Los Santos is 100x greater than this sh*t. Hey guys and OP while we are complaining about this game other games series' fans are hoping for a great sequel like GTA 5.DMC and Tomb Raider was rebooted last year and there was alot of bashing,we should be lucky GTA is the only 90s Franchise that havent been rebooted completely unlike Mortal Kombat,Tomb Raider and more, and again every installments are always ambitious, even though GTA is split in 3 universes.Like someone said above he cant wait for next-gen GTAs,i am sure we all ant wait for that.GTA 5 is a technical achievement and that undeniable, you cant compare IV with V in terms of Graphics and things to do. btw i came up with the SR comments above myself

As expected, it's still a problem in version 1.11. It may be true that cars randomize more easily early on in the game. However, the true problem is that the game cannot randomize specific cars after an unspecified amount of time has passed in a session, and this is true from the very beginning of the game. This means that you always end up with the same rotation of cars substituting each other from time to time. Those cars that do not randomize dynamically will therefore only spawn if you reboot the game or force them into the memory through missions or garage storage. I don't see why it wouldn't be a simple fix to make all cars, which are intended for appearance in traffic, spawn on equal terms but Rockstar seems more busy fixing online bugs and adding DLC.

Rockstar:Hmm i think after GTA gets to 20 years old in 2017 we are completely Rebooting It guys Dan Housers:That a Great idea

This impression hit me after a few days of playing back in September but I decided to give the game some months to be updated and settle in my mind. My points follows below. 1. Random events only occur in specific spots. Where are the dynamic encounters from RDR? 2. Patrolling police only appears in a limited number of areas. Police spawned randomly in GTAIV's traffic. 3. Hikers, fishermen, planes, park rangers, bicycles, motorbikes, etc. always appear in the exact same spots. What happened to the variety of dynamic spawning? 4. Many vehicles do not spawn randomly. Some cars always spawn in the exact same spots while others do not spawn at all, at least not dynamically. The latter are dependent upon appearance in missions or garage storage. Finally, a reboot of the game might put these "rare" cars into the initial rotation but the limited scope of dynamic spawning will eventually phase them out of the session. Traffic was inherently random in GTAIV and rare cars were capable of spawning dynamically. 5. Peds always have the same one-liners. How often haven't you heard these? "Heay wassup", "your car is the sh*t, so hot", "hey girl", etc.? Sure, GTAIV and RDR had repetition too but seemingly more variety, thus repetition was less noticeable. 6. Weather changeability is imbalanced. While cloud formations do change consistently and occasional rain showers do occur, real thunderstorms with multiple lightning strokes can only be triggered off-mission when leaving hospitals after being "wasted". Weather changeability was fully dynamic in both GTAIV and RDR. 7. There is hardly any difference in audible ambience between downtown LS and the countryside. Where is that buzzing metropolitan background noise we had in GTAIV? 8. Interactivity with the game world off-mission is hardly expanded upon. We can rob stores and carry fuel cans but what happened to leaving cars with their engines on and doors open? Small fine details from GTAIV that are nowhere to be seen in GTAV, not to mention enterable fast food restaurants. Each one of these points more or less indicate that the game is ridiculously scripted and lackluster in keeping up with the open-world standards set by GTAIV and RDR. Instead, it seems to focus on a big world with impressive graphics and draw distance. From an open world perspective, it's just not very immersive in the long run.

I've seen plenty of doors in GTAV that are just decoration, doors you can take cover against. The only other one I've found like this, which I couldn't take cover against, was at NOOSE headquarters. That one was a mystery door that someone let me know is programmed to open during a cutscene of one single optional mission. Thus, it was a real door. So there's a good chance this door is meant to open, somehow.... But like you said, it may just be a dead end. We all know the elevator door in the Zancudo bunker is programmed to open, and can be opened with content creator, but doesn't lead anywhere yet. I've reinstalled Blender, but had to update Python and I think I need to reboot before Blender will import these DAE files. In the middle of downloading a pirate copy of Raid 2, though, so it'll be a bit before I try again.

Now that you've brought up the term "reboot" I suppose V does feel like a reboot to me , thematically and structurally it feels like a very new game. I'll ignore the fact this post has all the usual traits of fixation on one particular game... but personally I don't feel IV had a theme song either... it had theme music, yes, kind of like a score, but not a 'theme song'. Still, this is because IV was more cinematically aimed than any GTA before it. And thus, IV broke the "Grand Theft Auto as we know it" trend (not to mention they created an entirely new engine which makes the game feel almost 100% different anyway). But so what? Can't you accept these games individually instead of comparing them to their predecessors and successors? And I already wrote a couple of long-ass posts about how franchises are complete bullcrap (GTAForums censors bullsh*t so lets see if we get lucky) and people take titles, brands and logos way too seriously. They were in this forum though, so they're probably long lost by now. IMO GTA IV had one of the best theme songs going I'd place "Soviet Connection" above a lot of theme songs in the franchise, and yes I accept it as an individual project but it doesn't mean you can't compare and contrast features from all entries of the series, I don't know what everyone else posting is trying to convey but I'm not aiming to cast negative or positives on anything , just saying it feels like a departure from its predecessors

Of course it's not. In this sense we can say that metacritic's overall rating of games is not fact - it's still opinion. I am a writer, and while I won't pretend to be the best writer in the world, I do know a little about writing and what goes in to it. Using this knowledge, I can say, with some authority that IV is the better constructed storyline. Characters, story arcs, subplots - IV is simply better because it has more, they're better constructed and they weave in better than V does. It is indeed a matter of preference and what people are failing to comprehend here is 1 - I have clearly made the distinction between the quality of the story construction and implementation and the individual preference and opinion. I am not saying you're wrong for preferring GTA V's story, I am merely saying that IV's story is the better of the two, in my technical, writer's mind. How is this so hard to understand? Please refer to my previous example using food. I have also not said it is fact, so stop being such an ignorant antagonist. I said, in my eyes, it's as close to fact as you can get. If you're working out and your Personal Trainer says to you "Keep your back straight, your technique is wrong" - is your answer "Go away, that's just your opinion"? No, because he is talking from educated knowledge and experience. Is it fact that your back isn't straight? Probably is, but it's still his opinion that the technique's wrong - your mate might disagree. Would you like me to go into depth in a post you'll never damn well read, except to find something to cry about? You've even admitted it yourself, that "IV has a better story" so why in the sweet and sour f*ck are you pulling sh*t apart?! And yes, if you compare IV to V, there is a lack of mission variety, but if your compare GTA III to VC, the same applies - it's a natural progression of games, series, and sequels that new features and mission variety will be added. Even though I Rank IV over V in many, many, ways, I am not up-my-own-arse to the point where I will say IV's mission variety was better. V did open the scope in this a lot more. But the story being the reason why mission variety was lacking? I'm not entirely sure about that. Yes, it's probably a factor (both were probably designed simultaneously*), but mostly I think it was because it was Rockstar's first "next gen" GTA and this led to two things: 1 - They limited themselves in features and mechanics because they wanted to do what they included well, not a little of everything. I do feel that V fails in this slightly - it crams a lot in, but unfortunately IMO it does everything okay, instead of doing everything very well. Basically the tech etc, Rockstar didn't include planes and drivable trains and car mods etc, because they wanted to make the game great, not just "okay" 2 - As IV was a reboot, they had to leave themselves somewhere to go afterward. Packing the game with everything they could have thought of, as i said above, would have created a poorer quality game, but also would have made V poorer - when V came out, people would not have been "wow this is cool" - they'd be : "Oh. This was in IV. So what's new?" Unfortunately, I feel that V simply swapped a lot of IV's good points out for some of it's new points. But I won't go into that. Yes, V brought some of the coolest missions of the entire series to us, but the thing is, as i said for technical and future-planning purposes, they were not in IV also because IV was a game that R*, IV and we all knew what it was - it wasn't pretending to be anything else. It was what it was, a metropolitan setting, city life, Niko's story (i won't mention EFLC for the moment), struggles and how they tied in to the setting and story. V simply changed the format from that "blockbuster" film, with a moving storyline (like Shawshank Redemption) to the latest hollywood film with explosions and Megan Fox (like any modern film tbh). Definitely the focus was away from the story, and it's partly that reason that IV's story is better. Let me put it to you all: GTA VI, lets say it's in Vice. It's got a central character with a moving backstory, that leads to emotional scenes (act as tough as you want, we're all human and all have feelings, such scenes and storys do move us on some level, and have done for thousands of years - this is why a story is so integral to the games; a story is as human as we are and it's equally as natural, out lives are stories, and if you discard the concept of a story, you discard the concept of your life - that tale you tell your mate about you first losing your virginity in the back of your dad's cutlass? A story. Your most treasured holiday with your grandmother who's sadly past? A story.), good character development that makes the characters feel alive and real, a great setting and map, a plethora of features within the game to entertain you, and while the aforementioned story is close to IV's with its quality, threads etc, it has the mission variety of V, the mission/story length of IV, the number of side missions exceeding SA.... Well that's the GTA I want. I don't want Rockstar to take anything away from a game - and they did with V. Sure they added a lot, but they did take stuff out. With GTA VI, the same will apply. I want the story quality and length from IV back, and we can have a gritty one, and a good setting (in fact the contrast might be cool), but I also want some of what V brought to the table too. And i strongly believe that we can have that. Rockstar are good and they can do it.... if they want. Welcome to the internet. I somehow outran a 3 star wanted level in that...... Vehicle variety, again (i wont go into it), another area that's disappointing, but i think it's worth noting that I don't think this is really R*'s design - the way GTA spawns vehicles, i think it's simply a technical matter. Perhaps this can finally be addressed with PS4/XBoner, but tbh i doubt it - the extra processing power will likely be spent on graphics and physics. *I suspect Tycek's theory that as of trailer 1 there was no story written/coded might be bang on: If IV was written as features were designed together, and V was made and the story written afterward (a slight stretch to be fair), then this might explain a few things regarding V's story.

I wanna say that I don't feel IV was a reboot. For a reboot of GTA to happen it has to follow GTA 1's pattern a bit more closely. EX. Hare Krishnas, Kill Frenzy, Rampages, Cities broken up into levels or segments. Oh, and the box art style is gunna hafta change. I wouldn't mind a GTA reboot in 1969 again, that went through the years to the 90's... Ex. London, Liberty, Vice, and S.A. in one game. I feel that every GTA after III has stuck with that path more, and I wish they kept looking to GTA1 and 2 for ideas.
-
I think V definitely has the best gameplay in the series but I agree it does feel different from past games. I wouldn't say it feels so different to call it a "reboot" but it definitely feels fresh and I welcome all the improvements. I do miss the intro like previous games but I also loved how the opening in this game worked. They place you right in the middle of a heist.

Do you agree with R* and their ridiculous excuse? 3D and HD universe..
CJ killed Ryder replied to Nz_fool's topic in GTA V
I wouldn't say that it's a "different" CJ. I mean, it's still the same CJ who painted the entire map of LS green in '92. Just like Johnny K was the same Johnny K who blasted his way into prison and put a bullet through Billy Grey's snitching skull-tattooed forehead. It's just that CJ's set ended up being given to the Ballas and Johnny became a meth addict. That's different though. Johnny K IS the same universe as GTAV, both GTA IV and GTAV are the "HD era", this Los Santos was around when all that sh*t in Liberty City went down. However, the events of the 3D era are left open as they wouldn't have played out exactly like we remember them, so Johnny breaking into the prison and killing Billy, that happened in this universe, CJ being all gangbanger/casino manager/garage owner/stealth agent on the other hand, maybe not. I don't think this ERA will ever end, I mean where can you go from here? What comes after HD? The 4000k Universe? Might aswell keep it HD for good. They can always reboot it if they want. -

Exactly, infact III (2001) rebooted the franchise into 3D and IV (2008) did it with HD.Like i said before it not a total reboot like Tomb Raider,DMC,Mortal Kombat,Thief...but it a Multiverse Module style (Comic Books/Marvel). -

GTA 4 was a reboot that is it. They can add whatever characters from past games they want. It's not that hard to understand. -

I still don't understand why this is so hard for people to grasp in an age where every f*cking movie is a reboot or remake. I mean, i understand people being mad cause they're all nostalgic, but come on, this is simple stuff to grasp. -

Hallgarth replied to Nz_fool's topic in GTA V
People are reading too far into this different universes thing. There are no specific rules as to what returns, or what has changed. It's all up to R*. For Example. Lead singer of love fist is in Vice City and in GTA V. So there is a direct character that was modelled in both the 3D and HD universes. The HD universe is a reboot, that takes elements that have gone before but changes them. Another example, the Perennial in the 3D universe it looked like it was based on the 1966 Chevy II Nova station wagon, but in the HD universe it's a honda. It exists in both but is different. R* have rebooted the franchise. Simple as. -

Who says it's THE same Willie though? He doesn't mention anything from Vice City, who's to say there couldn't be this universes version of LoveFist to? He was in VC for one mission only and looks nothing like he does in GTAV. And Zee, you said something earlier, you said that it's still Dan and Sam Houser writing the games so they shouldn't do the Universe thing, but it's actually done in the Comic Book industry to, Frank Miller has rebooted his own Batman Dark Knight series and there's even Paul Dini who was lead writer in two different Batman Universes, the Animated TV Series and the recent Arkham Video Games Series. -

Then that will be a reboot lol,but yeah you could say the GTA's Multiverse module is a reboot (but not a complete overhaul) -

BLOOD replied to Nz_fool's topic in GTA V
As of now GTA is a multi-verse franchise (2D,3D and HD) i cant see them unifying the 3 Universes esp. when the 2D Era games were released on 1990s hardwares (1997-1999) and the 3D on early 2000s hardwares (2001-2006),plus the HD Universe will be long-lasting (unlike 2D and 3D Eras) until Rockstar totally reboot GTA (but i cant see them doing it now, maybe when GTA is 30 or so years older or maybe after GTA's 20th Year in 2017). Side Note:GTAO is non-canon to IV and V (HD Era) infact it the only game in the franchise that Rockstar can use to do alot of crazy sh*t in-between the Multiverse. -

This. IV had you crossing lines, working with all kinds of criminal organizations and gangs. It's the same reason why it's considered a reboot somewhat. They took the core GTA formula and refined it with what they had at the time.
