Hello all. I just recovered my account to post ITT. I've only been playing RDO on PC for about ~7 days now, didn't play SP much at all and I'm rank 32 now so everything has been super fresh to me and I think I'm at a good place now to be able to post my biggest complaints on the core game play mechanics so far. I bought a bunch of Gold Bars and the outlaw pass to start with so I could unlock all the roles and get the full experience (too old to grind video games these days) and overall I've had a really great experience. I can't believe I slept on this game! I played the SP up to chapter 2 when the game first game out but for some reason it did not draw me in the way it is doing now. I'm also extremely impressed with how well the game runs on my 3600/5700. ~80 FPS on mostly ultra/high @240hz = GORGEOUS game. Just buttery smooth and very easy on the eyes. But, since this is a bitch and moan thread, I'm going to post the things that have really stood out to me that I think R* should address PVP badly needs a no tonic/no ability card/same guns mode with option to create free aim only lobbies as well I understand full well how R* operates and how to them the dollar is king, so everything is incentivized towards buying gold bars, I get it and I accept it, but there has to be a mode where there is none of these things are in play and it's just pure PvP combat. I feel this would help boost the overall player count because it wouldn't be so brutal on new players and overall be a more fun experience to have a pure skill based PvP mode. Right now I don't even bother with PvP not because the gun play isn't fun, it's great fun, but because it's just incredibly unbalanced all the time. There is no teamwork, everyone is just running around like chickens with their heads cut off. PiB is fun against NPC's but it's stupid for PvP, same with slippery bastard. My first few hours playing PvP was just a slaughter. It wasn't fun. Once I figured out the meta and acquired the stuff I needed to 'get good', I did alright. Look it's okay, but it's still just not as fun as it could be IMO. It's just really cheesy. R* wants to grow the game, well fix the PvP and make it accessible to people who don't have time/inclination to grind/purchase the necessary items to not get destroyed every game. Slow down Day/Night time cycle This is more personal preference and I'm sure some will disagree... I don't have to tell you guys, this game is absolutely stunning visually and there is nothing more disappointing to me than not being able to enjoy a sunset or a sunrise before it's over in 15 seconds. I understand the need to condense time in relation to distance traveled and such, but I would really appreciate it if the day/night time cycle didn't fly by so quickly. Going out for a hunt in the morning and by the time you get to your spot, the sun is rising again, or going into a shop to browse the catalog or playing poker and having days go by, it's just immersion breaking and really arcadey. Can't fish from a boat Okay this one is minor but I had to throw it in because it completely blew me away when I realized they wouldn't let you fish from a boat... Seriously!? From what I've read you were able to do this in SP, but for some reason you cannot in MP? Why!? Okay, maybe saving for a future role (Fisherman?) but seriously why would you remove even the basic ability to fish from a boat. This really bothered me I'm not going to lie. Guns degrade way too quickly So I bought some of the leather wraps for my sawed off shotguns hoping that would help the problem but it really didn't. Basically after any firefight where I used most of my ammo (which is alot of them) my guns would be at close to half condition. I have no problem with the gun oil/cleaning feature, I actually enjoy it, gun oil is cheap and plentiful, but I think it's completely unrealistic how quickly they dirty and how frequently you have to clean them to keep them working as intended. It becomes tedious after awhile. No in game text chat I'm sure some may disagree with this as well but the game feels so empty and lonely not being able to talk to others. I try voice chat others and rarely ever get a reply. I understand why they left it out, but I think it's sad not even being able to say hello to someone through text for a MP game. IMO The emotes are just god awful.. Way too clunky and cheesy and take too many keystrokes to pull off, locking you into an animation you can't get out of until it completes.... They really are not a good way to communicate at all. Please give people on option to use text chat if they want to, if it bothers them they can turn it off just like they do with voice chat. The story missions are way too easy and as such, nobody ever works together The biggest complaint I have about doing the matchmaking story missions is that the enemies and objectives are so easy, and because of that, there is zero teamwork because everybody is just sprinting ahead trying to John Wayne the entire mission by themselves. I think if you made the enemies a lot harder and forced people to work together, it would be much more rewarding. Taking one or two drags/sips of a cigarette/cigar/whiskey and immediately tossing it WTF. This one bothered me the most next to not being able to fish out of a boat. I'm currently loving this game for the immersion factor it gives me, I spend 50% of my time just fishing or walking around/hunting and taking it all in, but stuff like this just instantly puts a bad taste in my mouth and disconnects me from the game entirely. How can you let me walk around camp and eat my stew as I please, but I can't take my time and do the same with a cigarette or bottle of bourbon while enjoying the beautiful scenery you built for us. Just shameful. Stuff like this really bothers me because it's so simple and shouldn't even be a thing, but for some reason, it is. I seriously don't get it. The big game content that we all want, I can wait patiently for that, the small stuff though is a special kind of frustrating because you know it's likely not going to get changed at all, if ever. There is a lot more but this post has already gotten far too long and I apologize if I've said anything that has been harped about a million times over already. This game really does has a stupid amount of potential and it's saddening to me that so much of the small immersion breaking details seem to get overlooked. I'm aware of the hopeful future updates such as lawman, more outlaw content with train/bank heists, being able to purchase properties and such in the future, all which would be very awesome and are badly needed, but there are also ALOT of small things that are currently in game and need to be addressed and that really shouldn't require that much man hours to fix. Again, love this game and I'm definitely going to stick around but yeah, some of the core gameplay decisions really have me shaking my head and wondering what were they thinking. So many things they could let us do and totally have the capability to do so, but for some reason they just don't let us... Really hoping R* keeps going with this game and doesn't milk it slowly, there is so much potential here this game could last forever.

I'm just surprised R* skipped the part where they were supposed to try out Poker ? Is it because of the griefers interfering thus delaying the stream and so it was cancelled ? Invite only lobbies could have solved that easily (too bad such feature doesn't exist here)

Yes, I've felt that way for a long time. And the mtu method is so simple! This game is absolutely worthless to me if I have to play in regular lobbies with players I don't want to interact with. Players I do wish to interact with? That's what the poker table is for, whether it's to play poker or that other thing.

I know this may be hard to do , but i was curious if someone could make a "working list" of things people are complaining about . Put the things at top the most complain about, to the thing lowest complained about ? The reason is , i think it might be good if we all could look over such a list, see if we encounter those things , and then if we do , we all could be giving the same basic input to the feedback page Rockstar has given us, so they might see a more concentrated posts about the same things ? Just thinking out loud here. My top issues after playing for myself last night for about 4 hours ( not in specific order) : - Can't adjust hieght of player - Poor character creator - Our characters are all mutes - The costs of things vs the payouts a bit skewed too much to try to move people to buy gold bars with real money - Auto aim being mixed in with free aim ( like wth ) , this must be changed - Id like to see a better way to switch guns quicker than opening the weapon wheel. Like making use of d pad to switch main weapon as well as throwables would be nice. - The job "selector" ( this is prob my second biggest issue atm) . You can not pick a certain type of match ( make it count, or any others) .You can only pick to play a match that has 16 or 32 people max ( and somehow dont even fill up still??) or a race. Its so random. One thing i hate the most about gta v o is their horrible match making ( which seems we are stuck with again) but at least with that you could pick what type of game mode you played and even the exact match in exact place. This total randomness is total bs . I dont understand why its this hard for Rockstar to work out . There are so much better ways to find matches in online gaming today, rockstar does many things well but this is just horrible. - If someone attacks you in free roam , you should be able to kill them or anyone in their crew, without losing honor, that is utter BS. I should not lose honor because some punk just ran up and shot me and killed me twice, so i had to defend myself when i respawned again. If your going to have an honor system make it right . Make it so if your just attacking people for no reason , you not only lose honor, but have a harder time earning money, people charge you more for items , and you are wanted all the time . Griefers need something to keep it from being just nuts and making you a bad guy for just defending yourself. - no poker ... this is just bad not having it . come on rockstar

My biggest issues with this game are: Not being able to rob NPCs/shops/passanger trains during free roam, that kind of activity is exactly what the entire game should be based on. Houses not having people inside them to protect their property or act scared at least while you walk in and start stealing stuff. No horse or wagon fences. No poker or other mini games. No voices for character, (deaath to emotes.)

Had an... interesting... night of poker. I only played 5 hands. You'll see why. First hand, I was dealt three of a kind, all 6s. Lost to a straight. Second hand, I had a flush in diamonds, Ace high. Lost to a straight flush. Third hand, I had a pair of 4s. Played it anyway, lost to a pair of 5s. Fourth hand, I had a 6 high straight. Lost to a 7 high straight. Fifth hand, I had three 4s. Lost to a Full house. So, I gave up. This is the first time I've had hands capable of winning, and other players who were betting sensibly. I mean, they worked UP to the max bet, and in each case, I went in... because I should have won. Three of a kind? Ace high flush? Straight? Three of a kind AGAIN? Lost them ALL?? Baffling. So, I decided to go hop on my horse and do a daily in Tumbleweed (I was in St. Denis). Horse started to move, then stopped... and I lost honour as a horse thief. Stealing my own horse? So I started riding to the fast travel post, but as I rounded the corner the horse stopped again. Horse thief again. Shrugged, fast travelled to Tumbleweed. As I got there, there was a shootout going on. I was about to ride away and my horse disappeared. So I took cover, then walked into town when it was clear. Took on a bounty, and called my horse. I hopped on and started riding a few feet and it disappeared again. Then again. Then again. I wondered what was going on, so I thought I'd summon my hunting wagon instead. Found it was greyed out. Apparently I was already summoning it or something. So, I started running to where the bounty was. Out past Armadillo, of course. Eventually, I did get my horse to come up, and rode to the bounty. Started shooting his men and then left them behind to go chase him as he ran away. Suddenly I teleported back to his hidey hole, and the horse stalled for a few seconds before finally going after him. You would not believe how FAR he ran in the space of about 10 seconds. Anyway, I could hear him shouting, but couldn't see him, not even with eagle eye. He was invisible. Eventually, I accidentally rode over him and he appeared. Tied him up without actually tying him up (he just suddenly became hogtied as I was dismounting). Collected the bounty. Logged off. Too much STUPID going on in the game tonight.

Its not cheating, though. Unfortunately the game is very broken on Poker. I'm on Xbox One and only played a few times, waiting on "24 hours without k I just played Poker in game, since I was at my camp with the catalog open while typing this post. I got "nothing" pretty much every hand, while one of the other two people were always winning with just something like Ace or King high; I think I got a pair of two's or something. Finally, my hand had two 8's in it and the community cards (on the table) had two 7's; that time I won with "pair of 8's and pair of 7's." illing an animal" or something. Every game was similar to what you are saying, with usually one person having at least the high cards if not a flush; every time, the hand I had was totally junk. I should play it more, to see if I'm ever the one always winning Really weird they broke the random number generator so much on poker, especially since I don't think it is like that in single player but have not really tried? Like other people, I really wish "Liar's Dice" from RDR1 was in the game for multiplayer. It was kind of fun in single play, but you ended up knowing which NPC always bluffed/played a certain way as the game went on. Also, when the bets are so low what is the advantage for you to fold (besides playing more like it would be a real poker game, for real money?) I'm just wondering because I was always max betting in case I did get something; is there an advantage for me to fold then? Does it make the game faster or something? Or is it just that the other players will like you more, since you are playing realistically? Some posts on reddit seem to suggest that the "community" cards can be streaky, always being the same (possibly where you mention the guy got more clubs?) It kind of become apparent to me that the reason you'd fold is so you don't spend as much of your money and "bust?" I started with the $25 and was down to $11.00 before I won "1.25" or something... I'll try more "strategery", next time

^^ Only problem I can see with poker/gambling is R* sensing that too many players might not play their Adversary Modes gaming modes. <sarcasm> You know, where ALL the fun in RDO actually is. </sarcasm>

don't keep talking sh*t, tantrum, you're just a know-it-all try hard kid. How about explaining to me why a private hosted poker game between friends needs to be held outside of party chat? Please try and add something logical and with actual reason applied please.

First of all, thanks to all involved in figuring this out and making the game playable for me (I refuse to play with griefers grabbing shorts every chance they get). The mtu method still works but I do want to play with a friend sometimes and this does the trick. Second, another method is P1 taking P2's lobby invite as P2 takes P1's poker table invite. That works for some also. Lastly, sometimes if a player is in that infinite black screen, if the other player can see that character in game, he needs to kill him and the player will respawn normally. Happy and safe gaming!

There is a way to do it via poker but as far as I know, you need a friend to help you to do this. There's a second method I've seen that you need to adjust your MTU settings for (haven't been able to successfully do this as I get absolutely no internet connection at all and am therefore unable to even load into RDO).

Still can't play. Been a solid half day now and still R* services unavailable! No poker? Noooo.

Played some poker to round off the night last night... WHY THE F can't people learn to play before they start? Almost as bad as max betting before the FIRST community card flop is folding before the first flop. FFS! It's hard to play a decent hand if people are so stupid. I'll ride out a nothing hand until I have to really ante up just to see what I might get on the next draw, but some people, oh no, it's all or nothing every hand.

The problem is micro transactions effect gameplay. For instance, can you go fishing? Nope. Gotta grind to get that fishing pole. Wanna play poker with your buddies. Sorry, we wanted to include real money in our game, so now you don’t get all of the activities. Its ridiculous. $1000 for a gun? Seriously? And looting 5 cents off every body, earning $4 a mission, that’s a lot of grinding. They jacked prices up to make items next to impossible to reach, so people will buy gold bars and get them. Dont defend those practices. It’s just giving them the ok to go full fledge EA.

As people have mentioned above, when I first started the game, I noticed the ability cards and was thinking that it may be interesting. I then had a look at the cards itself and as soon as i saw that perk which enables free aim when dead eye is in use, I knew that they weren't planning on adding a free aim mode at all. My Understanding is that they most likely want to group all players into the same matchmaking (first red dead had friendly free mode, casual free mode and casual matches, Hardcore free mode (maybe hardcore gamemodes as well?), Poker and Liars Dice (which required DLC), Other gamemodes (Which required DLC), Undead Nightmare survival (which required DLC). It's probably less costly just grouping everyone together. Hell they started showing signs with Next gen gta V when they implemented "Assisted Free Aim" with free aim. Having any sort of lock on is auto aim whether it may be weak or strong. However, this doesn't really appease free aim players and while they probably makes up less of the playerbase, it still is annoying for them. There is a mission where you collect bags in freemode and that's still bugged for me and others as well. When you initiate grabbing the bag, it drops it almost straight away. (Only seems to affect players that haven't initiated the activity themselves) yea the games are generally made for auto aim, however having that option for free aim is something they had in past games. I used to play GTA 4 with free aim as well as RDR all the time. Reason being is that i found it to be more fun then playing with Autoaim on. Freeaim isn't really superior to autoaim and vice versa because it's just a style of playing imo. None of the R* games are built for e sports or anything so no real competitive vibe there. However, In terms of RDR2, the movement in this game feels quite different from the first Red dead and feels a lot slower so maybe free aim wouldn't really mix as well but it wouldn't be that hard for Rockstar to make seperate free aim and auto aim matchmaking.

Ripped this from a post I was reading about the Beta feedback. "It is very possible that in the future Rockstar will add heists, bounty hunting, poker, and more. These activities and events could pay out better. They might even pay out gold, fixing the grind for gold issue. It also very possible that Rockstar will rebalance the economy, maybe lowering prices or making it a little easier to earn gold" Whatever you do, DO NOT...make heists or any type of high paying jobs require 2 OR MORE MOUTHBREATHERS. I can get a lot more sh*t done by myself than with three other 'tards who take up more space than RDR2 on your hard drive. If I have to play with another f*cking simpleton I might just fling this disc right out the window.

That's a straight up lie, no modern casino would ever kick someone out for cheating at poker (at least not for having good cards). The players aren't in control of the cards, the dealer is. If someone won 7 hands of texas hold em in a row at a casino, the `surveillance team` wouldn`t give even one tiny sh*t. Casinos make money from poker through a rake, they don`t care who wins or loses lol You got beat and you`re salty, doesn`t mean the game is rigged.

Because they're half-wits. I was playing poker in Valentine last night for the first time, since my freakin' camp won't spawn and I needed to do something enjoyable, and some retards were throwing dynamite around outside.

I disagree, I've stopped playing several poker games online because it's the same behavior. All in first hand, every hand. I'm good. That's why I hope we will get Blackjack and Dominoes.

It’s a bit more tedious than exiting, and I’m not sure how well it works on ps4 but essentially: p1 starts a private poker session and invites p2. Before p2 accepts the invite, p1 opens their consoles UI, goes to their friends list, and hovers over join friend under p2s gamer tag. When p2 accepts the poker invite, after processing invite appears on their screen, p1 spams A or X to join friend and skip the alert. if it doesn’t work the first time, try waiting a few seconds after processing invite appears before p1 starts spamming A or X

You need to be in a party on PS4 to do it. Not sure how/if it works on other platforms. Host a private poker lobby and invite a friend. Have said friend accept the invite and immediately tell you when it says processing invite in the bottom right corner. Right when it says processing, join your friend's session through the party. It should put your friend in a lobby by themselves. They can invite you and 6 others max from there.

People are just bad at poker and/or easily bored man. I remember playing standalone poker games and the experience is the exact same there unless it's a tournament with rewards. Genuine competitive poker games go for quite a while and most players aint got the time or interest for it, especially when it's not real currency on the line. If GTAO adds poker with the casino it's gonna be a sh*tshow there as well.

I'm a sucker for roleplay. Strict dress code and $1k buy in. I just think it would be cool to save up some extra cash over a week or two, leave the mountains, get a shave and a haircut, put on some fancy clothes and sit down for a winner takes all game of poker. You either walk away broke and start the grind again or you've got an extra $5k burning a hole in your pocket.

That's the messed up part, I'm reading more positives since the DLC too and the inconsistencies are very frustrating. Makes me wanna move or something, lol. I'm UK bit am sure others are scattered all over too. I know some from the states here are and mainland Europe are here. So random. Well, session activity should be but aside playstyles, just all over the place. Could it be related in any way to how R* are or have to exclude poker from some regions and then when the players mingle from other regions, the game has hiccups? I can't think of much else where the game would be different for others in areas like gore being censored or anything like that and clashes happen, plus I really am a bit of a dunce with technology.
