The Red Dead Online B*tch & Moan Thread
SAS_Intruder replied to The Holy Diver's topic in Red Dead Online
Ok, poker makes so much sense in this game. It isn't rigged at all. No wayyy... From my experience working in casino industry in Las Vegas, wining 7 times in a row ( not by bluffing but having better cards) happens ALL the time. So guy cleared 130 dollars winning 7 out of 8 rounds ( won 7 in a row after folding first one) with absolutely superior cards and that's it. It's perfectly normal, isn't it? -
Thank you for online poker but can you....

Beecher's hope poker with the insults/fist figths and bursting windows beforehand a game will always have a special place in my heart. So much less trouble in gambling times when in game money wasnt a thing. Then you had people on open chat trying to tell you how to play. Golden. Miss the days -

Thanks for the feedback! To answer your questions, Party Chat is something that cannot be disabled, although you could do two work arounds for it. Much like in Poker you could disable party chat, but that somewhat defeats the purpose. I think, much like in 'Make It Count' party chat should still be enabled, and sure, some people may use this to cheese the game, but at the same time, it enhances the fun of playing with friends. For the narrative I wrote in the follow-up post above I claimed 'covered in blood' but this was simply for dramatic effect. The 'blood' would only by visible with Eagle Eye for the Pinkerton. He can see a trail from the body in the direction the Murderer ran, and may see blood on him for a short amount of time after killing. The Murderer can speed up the removal of the blood by swimming and washing the blood off sooner. If the Murderer would rather bide their time and survive by staying hidden that is a viable strategy to get away with their crime. There are lots of ways that either side can win! In any game, you will be paired with good and bad players. A bad Slasher in the Slasher mode on GTA:O will be less entertaining then a skilled one. The rounds of the showdown rotate the players so that will create some variety in gameplay. Everyone wants to play the Slasher at least once in GTA:O, I don't think its fair to rob players of the opportunity to be the Pinkerton or Murderer simply because of their skill level. Camping the pistol is also something the Murderer could do, but with proper coordination, the bystanders can work together to get the pistol back and use it against the Murderer. Its part of the risk-all of winning for the bystanders to try by all means to get that pistol should the Pinkerton be slain. Hope this helps! -
I decided to log in last night after a few weeks away from the game to get my Carcano Rifle and cash in a few treasure maps. I started off near Blackwater and it turned out the chest was all the way in Blue Water Marsh. My first instinct was to fast travel but I thought no, let me throw on the HDR mode and make the trip the ol' fashioned way. So I rode over there and man was I reminded just how beautiful and immersive this game is. On top of that, I had a totally peaceful ride all the way over despite running into a couple of players who just minded their own business. My trip started with a clear night sky with beautiful moonlight beaming down and lighting up the hills and rocks with an eerie glow. It didn't last long though as a heavy fog moved in around midnight and visibility really died with the HDR lighting system on. Quite a contrast from the standard graphics. By the time I got to the dried up creek bed by Rhodes it was morning, and I had to just stop for a minute to appreciate the sunrise. Managed to bag a 3 star Deer so it was off to Rhodes to cash in and pick up my Carcano rifle. As I rode in, I noticed it was pretty empty and chalked this up to just an online lag thing. I did my business with the gunsmith and came about about 9am and was amazed again by this game as a ton of NPCs rolled into town and what was a completely dead street early in the morning was full of life. People strolling around, carts rolling up and down the street, dudes hanging out smoking by the General Store, Etc. I've got to say that despite how wonky the HDR is in this game, it's awesome during the daytime with the right settings. I proceeded on my way to the the Blue Water Marsh enjoying the clear blue day and as day turned to evening, I picked up my chest goods and stopped by the bait shop while the sun went down. Again, the lighting of that entire area was just amazing. I decide to end my trip by cruising down to St. Denis. It was now night and I marveled at how easy it was to get there just by looking for the city lights on the horizon. This whole trip I barely looked at the map and just calmly rode using the environment and my own memory as a guide. I eventually got into the city at night and again marveled at how different everything here looked with the electrical lamps lining the streets, lighting up the slight fogginess that rolled into the area. I hitched my horse up outside the tavern, went in for a shot, and sat down for a quick poker game. Man, this game is something sometimes. That got a little long winded, but I just want to say that I probably had my best online sesh last night without firing a single shot at another player nor being fired upon by anyone. Just wanted to give my appreciation for the game. The HDR is pretty cool too, but a little wonky during the night. I have no idea if that's the game or my HDR tv though. The days look freaking AMAZING. I have to say if this is how RDRO is gonna be moving forward, I'll be putting in a lot more time. For all the faults this game has, It's gets a lot of the important things totally right. Also, I'll probably never fast travel again, lol.

The toxic griefing is far less. Although I do get attacked, even in defensive mode. If you are into poker, it is there, but don't expect to get rich from it. Unless you are a real Hustler. The random stranger missions are a nice addition. The free roam missions do start. That is great. For the clothing, you will most of the time run around in the same attire. You may have one cold weather outfit. So new clothes or another showdown, who cares? Right now I am building my avatar with ability cards and pamphlets, hoarding gold and money in the process, so that I am at the top of the food chain when the real content is released. But don't hold your breath for it.

Took a month or so off of RDO once I hit rank 50 so I could take the time to grind some money for the next GTA update, but since there's still no word of a release date I decided to take a brief trip back to New Hannover last night for a change of pace. Kept things at a slow pace and didn't do much besides update my character's outfit and play a few rounds of poker. Jumping back in I was instantly reminded of how beautiful this game looks, especially compared to a 6 year old game like GTA and jumping back in made me very excited for the summer (whenever that is) update!

RDO Next Updates Speculation & General Chat (Part I)
Jason replied to Vik2390's topic in Red Dead Online
My guesses: Competitive: Poker related Combat: Kill streak? Kill X enemies in X seconds? Disarming enemies Drowning enemies Killing enemies on traintracks (hogtie I imagine) General: Food related I guess, looks like it could be a bowl? Make/eat X camp stews (possibly cut content or future) Five Finger Fillet award Poker award Camp related maybe? Also camp related Treasure related, but we already have some of those so idk Horse: No idea, could literally be anything Hunting: Bear kills with a knife Pelt related I guess, could be anything Trade: Horse trader, probably what those two blokes whose names I've forgot in the intros told you about, being able to sell horses to them in future. Probably not something they'll bother with at this point. -
very close to 420 bars, today I'll just cook dat meat, pick dem herbs and play some poker. not in a killing mood at all....
-
Eh, four out of seven. Plenty of herbs picked, hunting, and selling ten sockeye I caught last night meant quite a bit of money as well as gold. Then I played two hands at poker, and walked away with a little more money than I started with.

I disagree, I've stopped playing several poker games online because it's the same behavior. All in first hand, every hand. I'm good. That's why I hope we will get Blackjack and Dominoes. -
People are just bad at poker and/or easily bored man. I remember playing standalone poker games and the experience is the exact same there unless it's a tournament with rewards. Genuine competitive poker games go for quite a while and most players aint got the time or interest for it, especially when it's not real currency on the line. If GTAO adds poker with the casino it's gonna be a sh*tshow there as well.

Because they are halfwit trolls. At least it's not 'all in' as Texas hold'em actually should be. Playing governor of poker online and the halfwits always go all in EVERY hand. Luck a few times and leave. Ruins the flow. -

I'm also bringing this B&M back- where are my damn shows/movies? After leaving my tenth poker game because everyone is max betting on the first hand, I'd like to watch a show and stew in my anger. -

The good thing about GTA:O over RDRO is the freedom we have not to suffer a fool. I do agree, the theme is the attraction as a whole though. But anything lasts longer when among good folk and away from those keen to play up or whatever. And a heist would be absolutely fantastic for me too. I don't disagree at all, pretty sure myself too. Doesn't change much yet though. GTA is so much more exposed for its glitches and stuff, so if any are found, they grow fast. And if players are already either too childish to play poker here or are too crap at it or play a certain way because the table limit isn't good enough, that won't improve in GTA when relying on randoms. @-LN-. I messed up my quote, lol. But I do agree there. I'd love tournament poker too, would be where I'd head more in hope of finding a more mature group that know how to play more and more. Although maybe not the first week or two, lol. Let the buzz ware off and some take a bigger loss and move on knowing it's not ideal to barge all in all the time. -
I'm sure you're right; it's nice to fantasize about things they could do differently, but yea, I think using the money from our bank accounts is going to be entirely out of the question. If done properly, they could be fun (with the right people) for a change of pace every now and then, but honestly; having played poker for probably longer than the average GTA random has been alive, it does get old pretty quickly if you're not playing with real money. Would love to see missions or a new heist though; anything as long as it's not all centred around forced public PvP BS.

I'd believe that more if I wasn't literally just coming from a game with 3 little sh*ts on mic playing silly buggers about 30 minutes ago. But I agree. Of course I was just being general. My point was that if players aren't good at poker here and play like a child/dumbo, it can't get any better in GTA:O because that game is a far bigger hit with the kids, that and it's obvious many kids do play RDRO too, some far better than many adults I meet. -
People being stupid at poker aint a kids thing, most people just aint good at poker and get bored after a few turns. Proper games of poker with real people can take a long time, there's a reason poker with AI in games can be all-in fests or scripted (like the RDR2 story mission).

I wouldn't get ya hopes up for GTA, lol. Not only will it be messed up if they limit it so, it'll be messed up if they don't with how many legitimate rich players and years of money glitches many do. I know I can pour millions into it and not care about a return. Plus that game attracts more kids, apparently. (Though playing RDRO shows that many kids are just as keen or daft over here, this poker being a fine example of how daft some are, lol). -
They're playing bingo, not poker. I tried to be open-minded and give poker a fair chance in this game, but it's just silly when people play every hand (regardless of what they're holding or the bets) all the way down to the end. Yes, this is the problem; $5 is nothing, so you can never bet enough to protect your hand or really get anyone to fold. I hope to god that "poker" isn't implemented the same way in the upcoming GTA Casino update. I suppose that I can appreciate them adding it to online, but with the limitations and structure as they are, it's most definitely not "poker". It's just a bunch of people hoping to get lucky every hand. No skill or thought required; just throw in a few chips and hope for the best.

This really isn't a bitch about the game, but why do people max bet in Poker when they first receive their cards? The ones that do that, usually end up losing or winning like 80 cents at most. -
