GTAV Coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S March 15th 2022

I hate the info drought. Like damn it, I just want to see the visuals of the game. But, in another sense, it really makes no sense to market the game, because GTA 5 has such a big brand name and is so entrenched in culture that it's going to sell without any hard marketing. It's a game that provides "the full package" for any video game and appeals to anyone, and what other options are there for an open world crime game? Watch Dogs does not have the same clout, and I will humbly say that GTA 5 beats it out in many aspects (gun play, gore, car handling, online modes, and such) especially as a "complete package". Saints' Row is barely just making a comeback and who knows how more off the rails it might get. I wouldn't be shocked if the year is 2121 and the antagonist is the Futurama head-body of William Shakespeare. What is the first game a PS5 new player might want to play? GTA 5. What game will a parent buy for their kid to waste time that will entertain them with colorful visuals and explosions? GTA 5. It's so strongly entrenched in gaming culture (and mainstream culture overall) that it will sell by name alone. I've made this comparison before, and I'll say it again, it really is like the Windows XP of modern gaming; like Windows XP, GTA 5 comes with a lot of base features for any gamer - big map, story mode, enough weapons, huge active online mode/community, activities to keep you engaged offline, and so on. Much like Windows XP essentially standardized the operating system as we know it and made it so easy to use a computer. But even Microsoft knew when to move on, and actually they wanted to actively kill XP and only finally did so with Windows 7, and even then, many people were still using XP because it was so standard. Hell, even bank ATMs to this day, and many legacy systems, STILL use Windows XP. T2 are the opposite; they want to ride GTA 5 until it is done and dry. -
Saint's row 4 called, they want their style back.

Between this and the new Saints Row trailer, Rockstar and Volition are in direct competition on who's taking the biggest L. f*ck me...

This is downright embarrassing. Say what you want about the new Saints Row, at least they're getting a new game. It looked like a very lightly modded PC version of the game. No hint of any kind of meaningful "expansion" either. The delay is just *chef's kiss*.

im gonna play the sh*t out of saints row reboot -
lol at this Not even extra SP content. I am not gonna touch this. Especially because of TAKETWO's stance on modding. Say what you will about Saints Row but at least they actually did a lot when they remastered Saints Row 3 and Saints Row 5 seems to be good if you look past the new saints.

The good thing out of all this mess is any minuscule PC upgrade will probably be free. This update seems to be specifically tailored for the console audience who're stuck with [email protected] Even solid [email protected] with higher graphical settings would a game changer for them, hence the complete silence regarding potential PC upgrade. Charging full price for this only is scummy but what can you do, it's Rockstar. GTAV will sell anyway and when next gen exclusive online contents start rolling in then it'll increase even more. Service games doesn't need to be cutting edge to sell and keep people engaged. It's content that matters. RDO is struggling for this very reason although it has better graphics and more complex systems and mechanics than GTAV. V still looks, feels and plays well enough for majority of people and it has 8 years worth of content behind it. Many people don't really want to acknowledge this. I'm confident it'll sell more than the new Saints Row Reboot in 2022. -
I think part of the problem was this "purity" mindset that was so prevelant around 2011-2014. So many GTA fanboys were adament to say that GTA was the only, divine-crowned open world game that had a right to exist. Everything else such as Saints Row and Watch Dogs had to be bashed unto their death. This further re-enforced by the "well Rockstar can do no wrong" mantra, and that GTA games are always better than the competition... and this ideology had to be shared consistently across the GTA fanbase. Now look where we are. Rockstar has done f*cked up many times by milking out GTA Online and abandoning the roots of the series with all this DLC pay-to-jump-ahead crap. The storyline is now all wacky and full of mememobiles and dick guns, and we have had no new single player content since 2013 except a few cars and radio stations. Meanwhile, Watch Dogs has released 2 new games and story content! Saints Row is rebooting, and as much of a hot mess as the concept is, at least it looks to be an honest-to-god open world crime game, wackiness be damned. Loyalty is a two way street. I don't give a f*ck about identifying with the Rockstar brand or whatever anymore, to T2 that means jack sh*t anyway, the series has been pissed on for the last 8 years. If I see something that appeals to me more, I'd rather play that instead. I'd buy the new Saints Row game over Grand Theft Cashgrab V: Rehased and Overmilked any day.

I know hating on this game and anyone who likes this game is the coolest thing to do these days but what? A bunch of games were made free on the Epic launcher including Control and Saints Row The Third Remastered, none had rating changes, but it's only a problem with Rockstar did it with GTAV . I wanna see this same energy if Max Payne 3 or GTAIV ever ends up there.

trying to face R is like trying to defeat son goku from dragon ball goku benefits from the power of the script with rockstar I wouldn't even have to lift a finger because the rival game fails alone like cyberpunk watch dogs to saints row many said it would be rockstar competition but when the reboot trailer came They rethought it that he would not even compete with R it's reality -
Entirely subjective and also a point you're blowing unreasonably out of proportion. Like 97% of licensed music does not mention real world places, brands, cars etc. Not very good reasoning for, as you say, "all licensed music should be removed" because it seems like your issue is with songs that contain lyrical content that breaks this little bubble you have put the GTA universe in. GTA does not exist in a bubble, FYI. There are plenty of in-universe references to real things, you know like Vice City is based in Florida, the whole series takes place in the USA and not some entirely fictional country. Yes, songs that mention IRL stuff are tacky but it's an entirely nit picky and silly point. If you don't like a song, change it. Hahaha, I've already answered this In case it wasn't clear, it's not licensed music in it of itself that helps create that authentic feeling but that, along with the numerous ridiculous commercials, radio DJs and in-game news reports. \You should go back and play GTA2. In that particular game, the entire in-game radio was created by musicians that (at the time) DMA design hired. In fact, go and listen to the soundtrack on YouTube and tell me it doesn't sound like it's just packed with music that had been licensed. Moving forward, they opted to just use licensed music and the authenticity it creates is practically identical. So with this being said, why not just use licensed music? GTA isn't a showcase for aspiring unknown artists to make their big break (although arguably a lot of the lesser known licensed tracks in the GTA games get FAR more attention than they otherwise would), it's a triple A blockbuster PRODUCT. The tacky pop songs you hear on the radio fit perfectly in the shallow, fake and absurd world of GTA. As a side note, if they used songs that were written for the game about the lore it would just sound incredibly tacky and probably harm the experience. Umm, I hate to be the bearer of bad news but if she is named in the world (which she is by the Non-Stop Pop DJ) then Lady Gaga certainly does exist in the game world. It's not hard to reasonably believe that she would exist in that world especially since GTA is a mirror of our world, albeit drastically exaggerated. GTA is not a 100% entirely fictitious world. Well I'm not talking about Mafia or Saints Row but if this conversation did pertain to open-world games as a whole then my same arguments would still apply. Tacky 50's/60's hits are going to sound far more authentic in Mafia then if a modern artist tried to mimic that genre of music with modern production elements. Saints Row is a different story and it depends if we're talking SR1&2 vs SR3 onward but I will say this, the hip-hop selection chosen for the first two Saints games were incredible and ironically featured heaps of underground tracks that helped give them a bit of spotlight. It was a rhetorical question bud.

Imagine his scenario: You're cruising down the road, taking in the world's atmosphere and a song comes on the radio which mentions a real place, brand, or car that doesn't exist in GTA lore. Suddenly your immersion is broken. Now I ask, how does that help make the world feel authentic? It would be more authentic for Rockstar to have relatively unknown musicians write songs specifically for the game and its world lore rather than license whatever song they think fits. How can Lady Gaga be on the radio in a fictitious world when she's not even a person in said world? And this isn't directly a problem only with GTA but many other open-world games as well such as the Mafia and Saints Row series. And of course I've played GTA. I've played them all excluding CTW and Advanced. I wouldn't be on a fan forum for it if I hadn't.

Sadly because there's not been an attempt at it, Gen 7 was all the Open World era with many different titles competing, now there's not much happening, Saints Row is getting a reboot, Sleeping Dogs is dead, etc, never really considered Watch_Dogs a GTA rival due to how much it's more like Assassin's Creed than GTA.

In GTA: San Andreas there was even a cheat that unabled drive-by shooting and the crosshair was always visible upon entering a car like in Saints Row. Pretty nice cheat for police chases

I can't compare Skyrim's controls to GTA's? I can't compare Skyrim's story and characters to GTA? I can't compare Skyrim's combat to GTA's? I can't compare world's detail of Skyrim to GTA's? I can't compare Skyrim's voice acting to GTA's? I can't compare Skyrim's theme and atmosphere to GTA's? I can't compare Skyrim's mission/quest structure to GTA's? I can't compare Skyrim's AI to GTA's? Or how one games allows much interactivity with its world and other doesn't much? As for what is the "main" thing and all, that's a huge comprehensive topic about this. Can one say that GTA and Saints Row can be compared? Yet I know people who says that these games are completely different and can't be compared. We even tried to compare Skyrim to Witcher 3 and people argue the same! My point is that where do you wanna draw the line? If the next Elder Scroll game introduces Dwarven powered cars and guns, then we can compare it to GTA? But overall, it dismisses discussion rather than having a good conversation about this. When Skyrim won GOTY award, it won in the existence of GTA EFLC. People actually considered GTA games when it won that award. No matter what you do, comparison is always being done. Also I wanna point out that games like San Andreas, Far Cry and Assassin's Creed etc have adopted RPG elements from other games. If we were limiting comparison to their respective genre, we wouldn't get hybrid games like that. So think on that. Well, Saints Row has a sword like that, would you find it acceptable I compare that to Skyrim ? Well duh! You wanted elaboration and elaboration you shall receive! World building, characters, story, voice acting, combat, control, AI, quest/missions and puzzles.

What's worse is that it's pretty bad at being Saints Row-like as well. I mean let's examine the mission where Trevor goes to hijack a plane mid-air, pretty wacky like Saints Row right? But apparently you get attacked by military and get nothing out of it. If this game was like Saints Row, you would still have stolen the plane in the end and get its cargo, making huge profit. Same can be said for Merryweather's heist, no matter what you do, you have to give up the take because STEALING A NUKE IS TOO MUCH! Yet in Saints Row, you can get away with this thing, you are always a winner in that game but in this game, it builds up a wacky premise and then slaps realism in your face. Honestly tho, the countryside isn't really much either. I went back to play San Andreas recently and damn the desert actually feels like a desert, the forest actually feels like a forest and the countryside of Los Santos has small towns and stuff to really make you feel like you are away from the big city. But in GTA V, the whole map feels like an amusement park. Fitting for an online game tho.

I didn't miss it because I argued about IT after acknowledging it. I'm saying that different genre does not stop one from comparing games. Dismissing such discussion is counter productive. Saints Row IV You're welcome. World-building means how the game introduces you to the game world and how it explains its origin, people and culture. GTA's world with their radio hosts being wacky or depressed, the peds sprouting random nonsense and gangsters walking the street. How the game presents its world is world building. Furry-like people are just animals anthropomorphize-d. When you do that animals, you are giving them human traits. They are basically furry humans. So yes, they can very very much be compared. Still I didn't know Zelda, Link and their people were furries? Not really. The fact the controls on GTA IV, 3D era GTA and GTA V are different, it's not far-fetched to find different controls across different games. Also BOTW has more free-flow controls where as Sleeping Dogs are a bit more limited. Not the same as combat because Link uses a lot of tools to fight whereas in Sleeping Dogs you are relying more on martial arts and using your environment to secure instant kills. There we go, now you are beginning to understand my point. Not quite as well. Maybe Arkham series may share AI behavior to Sleeping Dog's but BOTW's AI has a lot of difference to Sleeping Dog's that can be compared. Though repeating these questions don't do much for me because I can list similarities and differences all day, allowing me to make comparisons forever. Very fascinating because it seems by comparing different games, Arkham Knight managed to implement environmental takedowns from Sleeping Dogs'. Probably wouldn't happen if people kept dismissing comparison discussion. Ah yea, it has that damn lock-picking puzzle they keep forcing on us. It's not as complicated as BOTW's puzzles but that's how you can compare the two games. If one argue between Sleeping Dogs and BOTW, if they want more puzzles, they will go for the latter if they don't want puzzles, they will prefer the former. I can see that but I'm presenting my perspective that it shouldn't allow one to declare that the comparison to be just invalid! You can still compare them, you are still learn a lot from such discussions. They have a purpose. And no apparently someone is gonna be out there to disagree with you when you try to compare Sleeping Dogs to GTA V. By embracing the dismissing mentality, almost all comparisons can be dismissed by listing out the differences in the games. While I'm seeking common points of games, no matter how different they are, to allow discussion to happen. It's not the difference of opinion I'm working against, it's the approach that dismisses discussions and making it counter productive.

.....still missed my point, but okay. Which Saints Row? thanks for telling me something that i asked for? Didn't know Sleeping Dogs was SimCity, lol. Didn't know big furry-like people can be compared to actual humans... Aren't they the same? I'll give you that one since Breath Of The Wild's is at least KINDA similar to Sleeping Dogs combat. Aren't the controls the same? Again, isn't the AI the same too? Sleeping Dogs has puzzles?!??!! Back to GTA V and Skyrim, can't you see these are two COMPLETELY different games you're comparing here? Now, Sleeping Dogs to GTA V, sure, but Skyrim? Really?

Yes, two major US cities completely overhauled their entire geography, one in two decades and one in less than a decade. Using the argument that "cities change" is flawed since usually when a real city makes changes, it's a few new roads or a building is torn down and redesigned. Not leveling the whole city just to build it from the ground up again. The amount of people who'd get displaced would be enormous, even if they redesigned each section bit by bit. Saint's Row 2 is a more realistic take on a city redeveloping itself: A major corporation overhauled an entire district of Stilwater in the name of one man who died before his vision could be fulfilled. This brought the company new found wealth which allowed them to redevelop other areas and add new districts. Yet despite all this, Stilwater still kept it's overall geography. Compare this to GTA 3 LC and IV LC: IV has more islands, different bridges, completely different road layout, different buildings, no dam, no football stadium and the airport is larger and on the other side of the city. All within 7 years with no in-universe reason. Yeah, no.

GTA V is a prime example of one step forward, two steps backward. Why did they take out restaurants and vendors? The only way to refill health, other than switching characters or saving, is to find a health pack. In GTA IV, if a cop had you at gunpoint, you had the option to run away. In GTA V, when a cop has you at gunpoint, your character immediately surrenders and you get busted. There are no criminals in this game(well there are, but you'll hardly notice them). They finally added a 'Cops killed' and 'NOOSE killed' statistic, but they remove the 'Criminals killed' statistic. WTF Rockstar? When an animal(dog or cougar) jumps onto you, there's absolutely NO way to get it off, and it instantly kills you(unless you happen to be Trevor and use his special ability). The gangs in this game are dull. I know they're not the main focus, but they seem to have been put in just to be there. They have no interaction with each other at all, and they only carry pistols, despite - as Official General pointed out last year - LA street gangs being known to pack SMGs, Sawed-Offs and AKs. Getting into random fights with gangs is rather boring. I think I know why the gangs only carry pistols, because they wanted to try and make Online players level up to get their weapons(excluding the fact that you can easily obtain Carbine Rifles from the cops at the airport). Regardless, Rockstar was still very lazy on that one. Melee combat is extremely pussified. Even when provoked, you can still knock someone out with a stupid special move. Melee weapons seem to kill in one hit too. The guns are incredibly boring to use. They have no recoil(despite recoil values existing in the coding) and are laser-accurate. Every other weapon in a certain class has better stats than the previous one. Once you get the Combat MG, the regular MG becomes useless. What's the point of the Combat Pistol? It has at least one additional point of damage compared to the regular Pistol, and both of them become useless once you get the AP Pistol. The fact that automatic weapons have looping sound effects also irks me to no end(they seem to have taken a page out of Saints Row, which has the same issue). Why do assault rifles and SMGs still fire slower than a Browning M2? Explosions in this game are downgraded. In GTA IV, there was a tinnitus effect when an explosion went off near you. GTA V doesn't even have that. Plus, people instantly die from ANY explosion, no matter how big or small it is(looking at you, Pump Shotgun Mk II Explosive Rounds). GTA V jumps right into gunfights WAY too early. I know it starts off with an armed bank robbery, but the third mission(Repossession) has you getting into a gunfight. In the previous games, the early missions involved melee combat, and then like four or six missions in, they introduce the gunplay. This game only has like two missions that involve melee combat(fighting Simeon and Rocco), and you can't even use a melee weapon, because it kills them(even if it's a baseball bat or nightstick). They really tried to cater to the shooter crowd. The ability to skip to the next part of a mission if you failed it a few times was a terrible idea. People can abuse it by intentionally failing the mission just to skip through it(and I'm sure people have). In the previous games, there were missions where you had allied NPCs that were expendable(friendly gang members or otherwise). In GTA V, I don't recall a single mission where you get expendable allies. Your allies were always main characters, and if they died, the mission failed(excluding certain heist members who are scripted to die). Getting chased by cops in this game is rather dull. Even at five stars, only two or three police vehicles plus a helicopter will come at you at one time. Also, the Police Riot only appears at roadblocks. Why are there no vigilante, paramedic, or firefighter missions? There are taxi missions but those can only be done once. There's little to no reason to steal emergency vehicles other than getting rewards(like a sniper rifle from the Police Maverick, armor from the Police Transport, etc.). And I would LOVE to know who the knucklehead responsible for coming up with the idea of replacing crouching with the redundant stealth mode is, so I could give him/her a slap to the head. GTA V is another game where modders do a better job than developers. With all the missed potential, it's almost like the game was practically asking to be modded.

Well, until we are able freefall in a tank while fighting enemies (including laser shooting vtols) only to then bail out of said tank to hijak another freefalling tank, before landing with no damage WHAT SO EVER to the tank, and then driving off after the falling debris unleashes a zombie virus, GTA Online hasn't become Saints Row. At least, not Saints Row The Third and onwards Saints Row.
