How do you treat your Characters in Freeroam?
DrunkGamer replied to justinpatrick1011's topic in GTA V
That's the part I find curious. Franklin -50 points because he doesn't look like you, Trevor -30 points for being a sociopath. Again, I'm not trying to attack you here in any way, don't take it that way. Anybody can play as whoever they want, I'm just curious about the motivations. For me, I care about the quality of the character and while the obvious attributes (e.g. gender, looks, behavior traits) are obvious, they are secondary. I f*cking loved Kane & Lynch and its sociopathic anti-heroes. In fact Lynch is Trevor done right. Point is, I can play as anybody as long as the character is well done and the game is good. I used femshep in Mass Effect because the male voice actor is terrible, female in KOTOR because male models look like sh*t, tried to recreate myself in Saints Row II because that game contains a hat I wore at that time and picked my first char in GTAO pretty much at random and tweaked here and there. If the game's character is fixed, then there's nothing to do of course, just hope the narrative is good. Anyway my theory is that people generally don't play as characters that don't look like them simply out of habit. Since I mentioned ME, at first I also tried a male character because it felt odd to have a female universe-saving marine badass (I hate the female badass stereotype in media) but when I switched over so I my ears would stop bleeding, after a while it felt completely natural. It might be the same thing with other people trying to have characters that look like them by default - just a habit. The habit of making a character look like me isn't something that applies to me because I can't be bothered with wasting hours upon hours trying to make someone look like me, when it comes to choosing to play as a male or female, at first I'll pick the generic white dude, then later on if the game allows me to I'll pick the female character but I'll usually just stick with my generic male character sure I'll change his features to make him stand out from the rest but not much else and I'm fine with that, I don't care if the guy I'm playing as is white while I'm Hispanic, I don't care if the stories main character is female (I actually like the female badass stereotype though I could probably guess good reasons why you don't like it) or a different race if they are written good like Joel from last of us or any of the gta v protagonists (I do like Trevor the most but their all good characters IMO) then that's good enough for me. -

*XBOX 360* Should we be able to drop Weapons in SP like in Online?
poland stronk replied to jsmashr's topic in GTA V
Yeah, one of the things Saints Row is doing properly. In those games you want to visit safe-house once in a while to swap your load-out, get one of your cars (because after it explodes you can get "new" one from your garage) and change clothes. This is even more true when you want to mess around with pimp-cane shotgun but you're holding auto-shotgun or if you want to fly a jet or an armored truck. Like someone said, this thing could be expanded with weapons cache in personal vehicle trunk so it wouldn't be that painful to get as Michael from Paleto Bay to Rockford Hills to get some guns. Also what I would revamp is weapon wheel slots dependant on character shooting skill, so if you got a 20/100 you can carry 2 guns, but when you have 100/100 then 8 + being able to carry whatever combination of guns you want, like in Far Cry 3, where you were able to carry 4 different pistols or 4 different sniper rifles (not like someone wanted to, but it was possible). And lastly, ability to take on or off supressor, it goes away for Micro SMG in Car so why not be able to take it off on foot? But dropping weapons is a must. I remember that once you got brass-knuckles in Vice City, you were stuck with them for good (unless dying or getting busted of course). -
I agree, but unfortunately, "never change a winning strategy" is the only one important thing. They don't care about their "gaming community" or their true fans, only revenue and profits care, because it's a company with (lazy) shareholders (GTA V and specially Online is the perfect example...). Shareholers are lazy and cowards (without skills, without real intelligence but just with money since they are born) people who want make money without work (and after that, when they support a f*cking lazy politician, they said "People need to work! The laziness is the cancer of the company huh.. society!"). It's the same thing with "kids" (immature people, and then kids in a adult body), who want kills in GTA Online, without to be killed (with their armored cars in free roam), and after that who play bosses on the forum saying :"go play in passive mode", and insult everyone of "n00bz and c0wardz" while in reality, they're idiots, cowards and noobs in their armored cars (leaving the place with high speed once "we" are dead because you never know, it might be a bug, "we" could get up and risk to kill them)... The only good news: GTA VI will be released on PC... but the question is "when" (after or in the same time than Consoles version). In fact Rockstar Games & Take2Interactive will change of strategy only (and only) IF the PC market had to be more interesting than the console market in the near future (in terms of revenue and profits). Clearly, that will means that PC gamers became good milk cows, ready to flamb between 80 and 200 |$ for a game (even if the gameplay is made with a console sauce from console level designers). But for me i'm ok, i don't care anymore, unfortunately GTA V will be probably my last GTA game. Fan (and modder since GTA SA) of the first hours with GTA 1 (and GTA London) & GTA 2 (revolutionary games in their time), GTA 3, GTA SA and GTA VC (really new technologies, new kind of gameplay and new immersion level in this time), and GTA IV (more "limited" in term of gameplay unfortunately and very unoptimized in the beginning but with a smart story, the high immersion, the "life" before/over/and after the story (on PC), the atmosphere were very great and then was the summum of the GTA series . GTA V is a Killer (in the bad way) of the GTA serie. GTA V/Online is a "remake" of successful games including GTA SA for the general gameplay, TDU2 for the online (races, largest maps (with the complete Ibiza and Hawai islands) garage, apartments, cars, cheats) and race editor/creator (the online was killed by the Casino, I hope rockstar doesn't made this error), Micromania I for the editor race, Replay/video editor and the physic car (jumps & ramps), Saint Rows II & III for the funny side with this unrealistic but funny Ragdoll-like (where in this time, Rockstar make fun towards Volition saying that SR was just buggy and the fun wasn't expected... and Rockstar Games (T2) made the same thing many years later.... because SR2 had more gamers than GTA IV at the beginning. Only Mods in GTA IV allowed to prolong the longevity of the game and to "keep" the players (and even to bring other new players/buyers)), Scarface (3 characters), etc... and these f*cking Sims.... Only Tennis and Golf are really news (in this kind of game), but obviously totally buggy in online (Rockstar doesn't care because kids don't like tennis and golf, they want just virtual money (paid with real money), guns, the power to be an asshole and get a good ratio..... and an armored cars to kill people without to be killed.... and after that they come here to play bosses on the forum to say : "go in passive mode nOObz", while they are the real cowards and noobs, and they should play in "passive mode" if they scared to be killed (oh yes... sorry... it's true, they want "easy" kills too... typical from small dicks and eternal noobs.....). Every GTA was really beautiful in their times, well designed for their times... GTA V just have a "sky"with flat clouds and a f*cking sky dome ("clouds in circle") like games from 2000-2008 (the only one thing why people find the game beautifull... all snapmatics (even those introduced as "professionals") are about the orange, purple and yellow sky... However the 3D models (Very greedy with low poly everywhere again.... while other companies release very greedy Hi-poly games....) isn't much developed than GTA IV.... It's so flat (3D models) everywhere (with very good textures only on the parts which for example shouldn't be "flat" and give the impression of details) ....amazing..... GTA Online, in 2013-2015, 100% (old) P2P ... incredible... Rockstar needs to learn a lot for PC (for a company saying everywhere since MP3, they "learn a lot for the future of the PC gaming" .......). This the result from a company staying focused only on the console market (and console technology) only, without keep an eye on the news technologies and the progress => A 2011 game released in 2015 on PC as it is currently while it use some obsolete technologies from "consoles" for PC (In this case you can spend many times to optimize a game, but finally, the game will never be optimized because these obsoletes choices and technologies (and other proprietary technologies unstandardized bullsh*ts) aren't used/handled anymore.... not because it's technical issue, but just because these technologies are obsolete and greedy for nothing). We'll see when Rockstar Games (and then, T2) will talk about GTA VI. But for now, following this RG & T2 logic, then the worst is coming (for GTA serie, for GTA on PC), seeing the Rockstar behaviour during these 5 years towards the PC players (and GTAV for PC), and the final result of GTA V / Online (the problem isn't GTA V finally, it's clearly not the better game of the serie, and clearly not the most beautiful game compared to many games of these 4 last years), but specially the Online is totally sh*ty, GTAO have a big potential, but killed for the pleasure of the kids (not even in age to play to this game initially.....). Ok kids (and trolls, and other fake fans of GTA Series, but only fan of GTA Online....), you can lynch me now ... GTA V was made for console (gameplay and small story, because majority of console players doesn't care about story, specially if this story is more than 20hours of gaming....), and GTA Online was made for "you", for kids, for immature people, for idiots unable to win without shark cards and armored vehicles, with no patience, where the assholes and kids (or kids in a adult body, for the majority unfortunately) can be "strong". It's very difficult to play in GTA Online. The gameplay is so easy for the pleasure of console players who want just to push one button for 10 simultaneous actions, and not to have to use their brains, they want read the instructions on the screen (it's funny, because they'are unable to read the instructions, it's annoying to read, while there is a forum to ask "how can i jump ?", "where is the building for the X mission, can i follow the yellow point ?"....), but it's just difficult to play to (find in) GTA Online with decent people, with smart behaviour (doesn't mean you can't have fun or make fun, in contrary... but only have fun respecting others to have some good shared funs, and with respect of the Los Santos World (the f*cking immersion!) instead to confuse GTA Online with BF4 or payday (game for kids where everyone rush like a moron), nor with the old and cult Carmageddon or the recent failed remake!). And for the idiots and (unpaid) trolls: The biggest revenue and profits doesn't means "better game". It's the best game only for shareholders or idiots unable to see the difference between "revenue" (while 80% of gamers bought the game in pre-order without to know the game/gameplay) and "Good/Bad game" by the design, gameplay, story, online/solo, technologies.... . Rockstar Games (T2) have paid very much to get these successful sales: $180 millions just for the advertising and lobbying (sponsored in part by (PS3/PS4) Sony and Microsoft (360/ONE))... it's a record too... It means influenced people by the advertising (bad or good, it's doesn't matter, this makes sales, everyone knows, even the politicians have understood it since the last 20 years now) buy a game only because "people" talk about it, kids buy it only because it's prohibited and can do some forbidden things (by their parents)... they think to be adult when they play to GTA V Online... and they can play "bosses" in the schoolyards saying "LOL n00bs, I play to GTA, f*ck my parents, i'm playing to GTA V Online... i'm not a kid LOL LOL LOL... it's so funny, i kill everyone, i'm a super boss on GTA... I took my Mom's credit card to buy shark cards, it's was so funny.. and last time, there are some old men on GTA who killed me and blown up my car.... LOL LOL it was so funny when they was punished for bad sport.... Hahaha i'm a super boss, a big boy on GTA!!" Buy a game twice/thrice doesn't mean this buyer is a fan, but just: "he is a fanatic buyer, a compulsive buyer" or "kid with dad & mom's money" (loved by these kind of companies of course), ready to buy, buy, buy everything when the manufacturer/company tell him/her (and idiot enough to believe them): "you're so smart" (idiocracy time). Then, there is no reason to change their strategy for now .... sure, everyone is imperfect, except for you. I don't randomly kill people in the kuruma, do not say "people" in general, you lil'sh*t.

@Cry_wolf stop f*cking around and seriously stop playing the game if it was so f*cking bad,gta v improved in lots of ways in the previous ones, and some of what have you said are opinions not Facts, example sure the driving isn't realistic and little arcady but not super arcady like saints row,but look at the other side, gta v truly have a big racing community, and the perfect gta 4 didn't have that big of a racing community, not because people are stupid like you may assume so,because if the racing in gta 4 was truly fun to play,it will have a big racing community, and the MP won't be dead as you can see now,And the A.i always wasn't so good in gta games,it is just happens in gta 4 the police were lazy, and 5 they were so f*cking aggresive, and too be honest i remember lots of police chasing moments from all gta games, except iv,because they were stupid and so lazy not so much fun to play with, unlike other gta games, car damage still exists,it is just happens to be the cars way too strong,so you are almost completely wrong about this, fake euphoria, you embarrassing yourself,i can make a big a*s list of things that are bad in gta iv,and you won't like it,anyway the Fact still remain gta v sp was short and some things were lacked development because of the masterpeice iv,there is an article by a vidoegame author about how gta 4 (The underrated masterpeice) ruined gta series,so your masterpeice ruined gta v,so i blame you and gta iv both of what happened with gta v.

So you rather would have played a last gen port instead? Use your brain please. It means it sold 7 million more copies on both current gen and PC. 1. Yes, I'd rather play PS3 port 1.5 years ago. Why? Because PS3 version already looked marvellous. And because they'd update PC version with PS4 release (just like Sleeping Dogs and Saints Row 4).2. Install base for new gen is not so big enough and most NG copies were sold around winter. So 6 million is safe # for PC sales. I would say they wouldn't lol. For a company always for profits, this is already marvelous.

I don't think Trevor is suited for the 3D era GTAs, or Saints Row. He's best suited for either the next Manhunt game, or Max Payne! One of these two games could work out for Trevor.

We need the option to customize our radio station.
lastmanonearth replied to duy9161's topic in GTA V
A great feature Saints Row has is that you can add individual tracks to your customized radio station. I want Rockstar to go a step further and allow us to import our own music too, on the Playstation. f*ck this era and f*ck 10 or 20 years down the line! -

This. I so agree. I loathe all the wheel type mechanics, from Mass Effect to Saints Row and the forced switching of weapons in GTA 5 when switching characters makes no gameplay or logistic sense. My characters use upgraded carbine rifles, assault shotguns and combat MGs for most of the game and it makes no sense and just wastes time and has led to many a stupid death when they revert to using non upgraded assault rifles or regular shotguns. At least make it so that we can toggle auto pickup of weapons. I just wanted to clarify that my proposed system could do exactly what you guys are talking about. Using the example from the original post: Say we have 4 handguns in our inventory; a Pistol, a Combat Pistol, a Stun Gun, and a Flare Gun. Pressing LB + X would equip the Pistol. Pressing X again while still holding LB would cycle to the Combat Pistol. If you let go of LB at this point, then your Handgun Quickslot will then be set to your Combat Pistol. This means that the next time you press LB + X you would be equipping the Combat Pistol. And the Combat Pistol would remain as your Handgun Quickslot until you changed Handguns again. At this point, holding LB and pressing X twice would cycle to the next Handgun in the list, the Stun Gun. Once LB is released, the Stun Gun would then be in the Quickslot for Handguns (LB + X). Then, let's say that after using the Stun Gun you wanted to equip your combat pistol again. All you would need to do is hold LB and tap X three times to cycle through the Flare Gun and the Pistol, and back to the Combat Pistol. In this way you could set your favorite weapon for each weapon category to be the first in its list. This would be the equivalent of setting your favorite weapons in the wheel, but with a bunch of hidden quickslots instead of the weapon wheel. And it is a good idea, well thought out. I'm a function over form guy and what I dislike in games is when mechanics and systems don't work well. All GTA games have stuff that doesn't work properly, from driving mechanics to shooting or flying and that lowers the enjoyment for me at least. I hope that Rockstar will fix the iffy controls soon but I doubt it will happen. I generally don't mod games but I am willing to make an exception for the flawed mechanics in GTA 5.

Rockstar Editor Coming to PS4 and Xbox One
TheTechPoTaToCHIP replied to Spider-Vice's topic in GTA V
Short end of the stick? The entitlement is strong in this one. Seriously, Rockstar aims for parity for all their platforms as much as possible, that's why they are still supporting the last gen, that's why shark cards exist to make all the DLC free (And before you go all "oh, these are updates not DLC", Saints Row pulls the same sh*t with car and weapon packs and we actually have to pay for those and no one is complaining) If it's possible on the hardware, they will try to implement it. "Why did we buy the game in the first place" well, to play it you silly ninny! PC gamers have been bitching and moaning for two years saying they want a PC version and now that they get it, they suddenly say they wasted their money because the supposed exclusive content is also going to the current gen consoles. Rockstar don't owe you sh*t, you waited for two years? Well they worked on it for two years. I'm sure the only way PC gamers could sleep at night is constantly reassuring themselves that they are better than everyone. If they wanted to screw over PC players, they wouldn't have made the PC version at all... -
He don't belong in GTA as a protagonist at all. As a full-time antagonist or non-playable character ? He'd be perfect. Voted I don't care. This Trevor belongs in Saints Row, I truly believe he'd be the perfect protag for that game.

Yes, I do. I do it fairly often in IV, Saints Row series, and V. Its fun sometimes and you get to hear all the dialogue, you'll lose half if you just speed demon to the next waypoint. Some missions, I don't though. Like rescuing Jimmy from his kidnappers and saving Michael from the Chinese and Lamar from the Ballas. You wouldn't take your time to go get somebody you care for would you? Not really realistic. I do it Online too when I'm waiting to be put in a job or just bored. If another player tries interfering, I bolt off -
The only port worse than IV port at it's time was Saints Row 2.

However I still think the Saints Row system is the best. Agreed!

Never really understood the hate for the parking spaces. Maybe it's because GTA IV doesn't have modifying or cars that can purchased it doesn't bother me. IMO it's much more annoying losing a car in GTA V's garages since it feels like a complete waste of money modifying or purchasing something only for it to disappear and worst of all it was never fixed from last gen. However I still think the Saints Row system is the best.

Get a load of this guy..if you dont want realism in a game , go pick up saints row bud. As technology progresses its only right that the realism in a game does also. For franchises which main objective is realism, "bud". A game where there's missions where a gangbanger steals a jetpack and dominates trained military in gunfights or gains money from nowhere doing stunts, then it's pretty clear that game's objective isn't realism, "bud". Technology has nothing to do with a game's objective and realism. Arma 3 is that way for your realism >>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Trevor feels like he jumped from Saints Row to GTA, horrible.

However I still think the Saints Row system is the best. I see what you mean, that system more or less guarantees your vehicles are never gonna go missing. But I've never really been a fan of just selecting cars from a menu, or just driving them up to a door and them magically appearing in a garage. Hence why I was disappointed with the garage system (the ones you could buy) in V.

I miss this thing since I took a break from Saints Row games.

This Trevor belongs in Saints Row, I truly believe he'd be the perfect protag for that game. OG my man, one thing you gotta like about Trevor is that he is a loyal man, he would help out Franklin against the ballas and the vagaos in a second if Frank called upon him in such gang war situations. He would be a huge asset in Franklin's rebuilding of the CGF's gang empire. Just something to think about. True he is loyal but like someone said above, "GTA didn't need a cannibal who wears a dress and f-cks a teddy bear as a protagonist."
