There are already GTA VI references in GTA Online DLC's (for example the VC Metro Mule and a livery, potentially more stuff) so it wouldn't surprise me that we'll be seeing a few more things. I'm still gobsmacked at the fact they stuck the Metro Mule logo in the Arena War DLC in 2018 and no one knew any better until, well, *that* happened.9 points -

I would be surprised if we don't get the official announcement next week. My guess is Tuesday. They could do it in November or early 2023 but I don't think so. I have a good feeling about next week. They will announce it soon either way if it's to come out in 2024. No way we're waiting any longer than another 5-6 months. Tuesday 25th October logo reveal and countdown to trailer. Late 2024 release date.8 points -

They can tease it any way they want to, but for the love of Christ I hope they don't bring any GTA VI protagonist into GTA Online. I don't want my first introduction to the new protagonists to be in the form of a GTA Online character. Now, imagine how many things there are that we still don't know about....7 points -

We don't have any material from the latest update to suggest anything about the next update. But what I was told from a reliable source, prior to the Criminal Enterprises update, is that Michael will be featured in the long run. It depends whether it will be this December update or an update in the future. But safe to bet on the former.6 points -

So for the next trailer I want to do something with 3 axles. I´m thinking of using the flatbed trailer as a base and then for extras logs and/or pipes But before starting with the next one, I wanted to share something I´ve been thinking about a lot lately: As I don´t really like the GTA 5 Trashmaster and Firetruck too much, but at the same time I do like the Brickade´s cabin, I thought maybe there could be a way to utilize it somehow. A few sketches I quickly put together: https://imgur.com/a/9i3BbRT6 points -

I don’t know, but I found the gun cleaning oddly satisfying lol. Something about the guns being dirty and bringing them back up to spec through cleaning feels good. Kind of like washing cars in GTA IV and GTA V IMO. Though I get how it would be annoying for people. I seriously doubt that would be put into GTA VI.5 points -

Yeah V's driving isn't perfect but if i had to use the word "real" like how it's being used with IV then V is more closer to what's real compared to IV, back up what exactly? maybe we're not living on the same planet here? last time i checked vehicles don't float like boats they're more stable on the road and turns so when it comes between V and IV, V is more closer to what's real, what's so hard to understand about that? It's not iRacing at the end of the day? is that supposed to mean "f*ck it it doesn't need to be 100% realistic"? if that's the case then f*ck everything else that looks and feels realistic in that game right since it's not iRacing, yeah what's the point of so many things that are 100% realistic, i mean holy f*ck Rockstar should remove those horse shrinking balls since RDR2 isn't a horse simulator and maybe they should change how weapons shoot since this isn't Battlefield. So a sticking car is not something you like but tsunami waves is something you like and find satisfying? ok. Yeah V might seem sticky for most of the part but that beats having boats as vehicles.5 points -

GTA VI Map Discussion - NO CONTENT ALLOWED

Over the past 10 hours or so it has just been discovered via several matches irl that Port Gellhorn is based on Panama City. Mostly all the locations featured in the leaks have been identified as real life clones with the exception of the motel with swimming pool, which based on leak coordinates is somewhere else anyway. Here is a map of that put together by Waffles Syrup with all found locations pinned. As this is a hurricane hotspot, many of the buildings have changed since 2015/16 when they scouted the area. So you might have to observe Google maps via that time period to see the visual match of some of these places. https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer?mid=180ajJ5vA9tDfFeWFUewfFoScd5RXdNk&ll=30.149116822892243%2C-85.65416450000001&z=145 points -

The early Euphoria stuff was already fascinating, but these days I believe Rockstar have their own entirely custom fork of it, that doesn't involve NaturalMotion as much as it used to (they're now focused on mobile games and not game engine tech, not even sure if they still support Euphoria) so there's that. I do believe there's still some kind of licencing agreement, but NM (acquired by Zynga) is now owned by T2 so I guess that goes out the window too. Edit: Yep, in 2017 they ended licencing, so R* has their own fully custom thing based on it now. https://www.pocketgamer.biz/news/65937/naturalmotion-ends-commercial-tech-licensing-business/4 points -

Two different things. "Euphoria" would be the real-time physics aspect of the animations - calculating ragdolls (when you hit something, or stumble on something, or push someone, or get pushed...) etc. which aren't manually made animations, it's behaviour that is mostly processed in real time. The machine learning stuff is a way to help with the manual/mocap animation production process, by generating frames between different animations (based on a database of existing animations) so it looks as smooth as possible without devs having to go in manually and hand-make every bit of missing animation data - basically interpolation but taken to the next level. And I assume I'm just scratching the surface when I'm saying that. There's a fair few academic papers about it: https://doi.org/10.1142/S1793351X224000864 points -

Rockstar Games could also do what they did when they revealed GTAV. They announced the game and released a trailer showcasing the world of Los Santos with a monologue from Michael, but with no release dates. The problem with that is that they then proceeded to go radio silent for several months which left many people dying for any news about the game. Although it feels like things will be different (no pun intended) with GTAVI since they casually said that they were working on it in a random newswire, and later said that they were moving more ressources to the development of the game in another newswire a few months later. This indicates that Rockstar Games will probably be more transparent when advertising the game instead of their usual radio silent, top secret approach.4 points -

So, this car is not really new to me, but I've not talked about it much. It is a great road-tripping vehicle, I'll say that. But yeah, it does have its issues. As said above, customization is lacking. I use a modified version of the car that has colorable calipers and better seats because, well, this car looks like a regular ass 3 series and yet it has sporty carbon seats, makes no sense. It would make sense if you could make this car look like an M3. And, well, you can't. It has the M3 hood and exhaust, but the rest of the parts are just basic M-sport/aftermarket parts. The only high-performance 3 series you can turn this thing into is an Alpina, only except there are no accurate Alpina-style wheels available without the use of a lore mod. So really, the only looks I go for with this thing are the stock M340i look, the modded M340i look, and of course the Alpina look because I have the wheels. The least they could've done is gave us grille options, options that actually change the fascia of the front bumper, and a sportier rear bumper/diffuser option. The lack of these lead me to believe they almost intentionally reserved that for an M-based Ubermacht, but I doubt it. And, well, until then I guess that's left to the lore as usual: (photo-credit goes to someone in VanillaWorks) But complaints aside, I do love it as a regular looking car. We do need more regular looking cars, just give us the option to turn them into their sportier counterparts. It sounds great, drives even better and it can have a color-matched roof-box which I adore. Especially in Velvet Orchid. Great car.4 points -

The discussion around this driving argument reminds me of the complaints about RDO slow-paced weapon & movement system. The community wasn't happy with how slow-paced the online component was. So Rockstar sped up the animations, but then posts about how Rockstar overdid it and how the old system was more unique and realistic started trending.4 points -

New cities post-launch: how will it work?
zBiglucky and 3 others reacted to Tez2 for a topic
Major games always tend to have some cut content. The content is cut because the budget, resources and other factors not being able to cover the development. Prior to GTAV's release, Rockstar was planning a Single-Player DLC with three episodes for each protagonist and the map is given a new look on each episode. One episode involved a Zombie Apocalypse to transform the map into a DayZ-alike environment as RDR1 Undead Nightmare gained popularity. At the same time, Liberty City as a map expansion was planned too. Both were scrapped as Rockstar shifted focus towards GTA Online. Prior to RDR2's release, Rockstar was planning a Mexico map expansion. Hence all the references to Nuevo Paraíso within the game files. In fact, you can access this region through exploits. Unfortunately, the map expansion was scrapped as Rockstar moved on to the next major project aka GTA6. The common factor is that Rockstar planned in advance for those map expansions. They didn't release GTAV and decided the next day to do a Single-player DLC. The same scenario is happening with GTA6 as we hear from several reports. So the first set of map expansions or new cities would have been planned prior to release. The game may have references or like a cut-off bridge hinting at a possible map expansion. Or like RDR2 where you visit the edge of a specific area and the soundtrack plays something in relation to a new city. As for the technical side, every recent GTA Online update featured "map additions" in technical terms. Rockstar added a few new additions for Cayo Perico to work. An Island Hopper meta file that loads the map placement files and unloads the base map among other things. So you could see having new buildings (new interiors) open up within the city on a similar scale to the various GTAO updates. What I could see Rockstar doing is allow us to explore a sectioned-off area of a city in South America during story missions. Then, come back to that city with a new DLC to explore the aftermath.4 points
