A week ago, Rockstar issued out a background update that patches a workaround unpatched by a previous update. Today, a new background update went live that simply patches another workaround to GC2F glitch. So far, no new additions to the podium list with the Squaddie being the last one on the list. If we don't receive an announcement by Thursday, then the next event shall reveal when we should expect the DLC.

Hi, I just made an account for this post. I hope that's okay. I am (was) Lewis' friend and housemate, this post was linked onto the OmniArchive discord server that I am in. I knew of his involvement in gaming communities but he was very humble about the importance he had to so many people online. After his passing, I've seen an outpour of love and support from the people who knew him IRL or on Minecraft communities, Reddit, Twitch and now the GTA forums. Thank you for making this post in remembrance of my best friend, he was one of the smartest and kindest people I ever got the chance to meet. I am happy to know that he will be remembered far and wide.

    - Objectively Vladivostok FM was trash, the only vaguely good song was that taxi one, everything else made me wanna OD on vodka. Also, jokes aside, saying something objectively sucks just shows how you cant be objective, you like strange russian music, i like strange edm music, so? cant we all just get along instead of calling each others musical preference "objectively not good"? - Im sorry that you dont have the kind of friends in GTA where you end up chatting about random things so much that you figure you might as well do it at the beach party or one of the clubs, i've spend hours upon hours at ML/Cayo/My nightclubs/Friends nightclubs, just because you dont know anyone that has doesn't mean the places dont get used. - The 3rd thing really cracks me up, you are literally describing the gameplay of all missions/quests in 99% of games, INCLUDING GTA 5 SINGLEPLAYER!!! either you have some really rose tinted glasses or you put way to much praise into "after you're done, dont go back to A!"!?!?? - Look i agree KDJ and whats-her-face are an annoying bunch, but to take that as the new base-line is just weird, look at the last few dlc, try name any 'important' characters besides those two that have been poorly written or acted? yea i cant find any either, just because in a lot of people's opinion those two kind of sucked doesn't mean they are not well written (more like the opposite? we're all going along with their acting?) nor does it mean all npc's will be like that in the future. - Heists keep the wheels of the money printer spinning, its the biggest source of income for most of the player base & the thing that keeps bringing back record numbers of players (read: pleases R*, T2 & investors), besides that i would very much love if you can explain how a celebrity cameo hurts the game? Please tell me you understand that there are different teams & studios doing different things at R*? just because some celebrity shows up doesn't mean they add one less car or anything like that?? ---------- Im sorry but this needs to be said, you consider yourself some weird "horny police", but you also want - the toilet visits from tbogt - more lingerie - pimp dlc & you think we cant have that because of feminists Oh and people that dislike KDJ & that b*tch, they prolly horny but cant get some? HA! Dont make me laugh. Instead of constantly trying to force some stale meme into every conversation, maybe just engage in some of that creative visualization & brainstorming that you so obviously need.

Wrong Side Of The Tracks is actually very easy once you realize that all you have to do was follow the damn train is simply position the bike perpendicular (with some distance so the fatman's view isn't blocked) to the train and Smoke would kill everyone. Heck few times, I manage to kill all of them before we even entered the first tunnel.

I'm seeing some people wondering if we are clickbaiting with the Jamie King interview, so here is everything we asked him. There's an edited video tonight (22 minutes) and the complete one (50 minutes) in a couple of days. But you can read everything in the GTANet article today. Of course we didn't ask him about GTA VI, he hasn't worked at Rockstar since 2006, but he said what he thinks about the topic. https://imgur.com/a/ClUb1TI

It's amazing how soulless and devoid of atmosphere the DE is in comparison. Liberty City in the original gave you this gritty and brooding feel of a city hopelessly on the edge (no matter what time of day it was), where anything bad can happen on any street corner. In comparison, LC in the DE looks like a goddamn toy play-set, like when tilt-shift is applied to photos of locations to make them appear miniature. Sharper visuals don't mean sh*t when there's almost no real sense of ambience to back it up.

  14. Nothing is more detestable than people in privileged positions pretending to be offended at things that don't even apply to them. How many of these "journalists" grew up in comfortable, low-crime suburbs, had their parents pay their way through ivy league or elite coastal universities that baptize them in the groupthink political stances they want to promote? How many of them have actually stepped out of their Santa Monica or New York condos to go and volunteer at a soup kitchen or do anything beyond clout chasing on twitter or facebook? Social media, Reagan's neoliberal infestation of American politics shoving the Overton Window far to the right, and faux outrage culture have destroyed discourse beyond repair.

    R.I.P HalfOfAKebab (Lewis) 1998-2021

It has come to our attention that @HalfOfAKebab (Lewis) unfortunately passed away in his sleep between the evening of November 11th and the morning of November 12th. The name will no doubt ring bells amongst the GTA Online community, as Lewis was seen to be consistently helpful, patient and receptive. Despite his absence as of late, the name is still a familiar sight for those that browsed GTAForums during the release of many updates, most notably The Doomsday Heist, offering support, answering questions and generally contributing in a way that makes us proud to have had such a member for a relatively short time. We learned of this news via an update from a project he was involved in, the Minecraft Omniarchive, which was dedicated to preserving all updates of the game. The news of his passing is as sad as it is unexpected. He will be sorely missed and our thoughts here at GTANet are with his friends and family.

  23. Before their review went live, I fully expected Polygon (And Kotaku, the usual culprits) to go off on a political tangent in their GTA trilogy remaster review, just as they did with Far Cry 6. They certainly didn't disappoint. It was laughably predictable and, quite frankly, embarrassing journalism. The reviewer inevitably questions the trilogy's humour, especially the radio station ads for their deeply offensive jokes. Because heaven forbid the GTA trilogy, which has become well renowned and liked for its comedy/satire, would include this material in the remastered versions as well. He questions why Rockstar didn't remove this content, considering they removed the confederate flag from Phil Cassidy's tee in GTA 3. I can't imagine playing a classic GTA game and having my blood boil by radio station ads from two decades ago because they don't reflect my own extreme political views. They used vast majority of their Far Cry 6 article space to rant about politics and they've done the same here again. Instead of actually discussing gameplay mechanics, story, soundtrack - Things you'd normally expect in a video game review, they've written something that reads more like a party manifesto released just before a British general election. You can read the article here, though I'd ask you not to and avoid giving them ad revenue for this hogwash: https://www.polygon.com/reviews/22792109/grand-theft-auto-the-trilogy-review-definitive-edition-ps5-ps4-xbox-one-series-x

  24. Very much this. The Democrats would be left if they supported the abolishment of the free market but as it looks like they only want some mild regulations. That said, I cringe whenever I see Americans (usually) catcall liberals "lefties" or something like that. Liberal does not mean left and neither does conservative mean right.

  26. Because the US democratic party is really quite conservative itself. By European standards it's a centre right party. I don't think many people or organisations that were actually left wing or actually had a liberal philosophy were doing that stuff. Also before it was real concrete complaints from real people and groups. They complained and lobbied and the media reported it. Now it's just journalists/the media creating fake outrage. There's no significant amount of or notable examples of people or groups complaining and lobbying against GTA right now. It's all just bullsh*t clickbait articles like this.

A Note/Update from Rockstar regarding the Trilogy Definitive Edition

I just... I just really want to know when will people finally get tired of the "over the shoulder camera cinematic game" simply because I'd love to see something from Sony that's NOT that. This will be a tangent but remember the time before Uncharted when most games were "new" even in their control schemes? Like you had to learn the controls and it wasn't just "yeah I know what the sticks and the triggers do, it's the 50th game". Now even Sony's fixed camera spectacle fighter God of War is just an over the shoulder action adventure game which is fine but it also sucks really hard. They also made Kratos into this character with the feels because in order to reach a wider audience it seems like you have to touch on those heartstrings and if you look at the game from that perspective suddenly every single one of Sony's AAA exclusive stuff becomes this very formulaic, samey stuff where most of the systems feel familiar, the gameplay is usually solid but nothing too complicated and the storytelling revolves around some simple melodrama most people can relate to. That's a bit sad to see especially when it happens to someone like Kratos where they really had to force him into being this "gamer dad lol" while that had absolutely no place in his original character since he used to be a psychopathic murderer with almost no redeeming qualities. The bigger problem though is that it seems like thanks to Sony AAA storytelling has become this very pretentious "Oscar bait" stuff and that's just not challenging for any audience whatsoever. And Rockstar kinda started to follow this template, in the last decade their focus was mostly on creating these "prestige games" with GTA 4, RDR and GTA 5 but the balance was always right in that you got your more realistic story but they never even tried to redeem characters like Niko, Michael, Franklin or Trevor and the more "serious" storytelling never really affected the sandbox gameplay or the sense that GTA's world is very much satire. RDR 2 on the other hand? A lot of that game just wants to be very serious, the gameplay focuses on unnecessary detail to the point where it affects pacing and players won't really like that stuff but it sure as hell will look nice when they are giving out those industry awards. At its worst moments RDR 2 feels like Naughty Dog's pretentious, surface level game design and that ain't great. Compare that to something like Manhunt which is this super niche, utterly nihilistic revenge story where most of the context you don't even get from the storytelling but from the atmosphere, the presentation and the world building. They didn't make that game for awards, thinking back on how bad the outrage for violent games was back then (and Manhunt wasn't GTA, it never hid its violence behind a thick curtain of satire) and how survival horror wasn't popular anymore it wasn't even financially sound to release it. It almost seems like they wanted to make it because the concept was strong enough to create a survival horror masterpiece around it.

Bangers indeed, those are some of my favourites from the label too. R* has always been heavily involved with music and I think it only makes sense for the label to make it into the games too, it doesn't mean in any way, shape, or form that the DLC's from now on are ALL based on music or Circoloco lmao, I don't know why this discourse is still a thing. They will surely have stuff from it, it is R* property now after all, but as you said it's all subjective, and whereas some people don't like any of the music (which is fair ofc), I'm personally also looking forward for what's coming in the future. Yeah I'm not sure why stuff like that keeps being thrown around, including celebrities in the DLC's doesn't mean other fixes and additions can't come lmao. There's a ton of devs at R* North and probably other studios working on all this stuff for months, while the celebrity deals, voice recordings etc are done at R* NYC. Even if the main devs at R* North are responsible for putting the celebs in the game itself, this doesn't take away from any other changes they want to do. If major quality of life improvements aren't within the scope of the DLC they planned, then it's not a celebrity appearance that's gonna change that, and vice versa of course. Every single DLC. People look at past DLC's with rose-tinted glasses but there's always criticism about stuff every time a new one releases. When another one is announced or teased, there's always someone saying how previous ones were better, rinse repeat. Sure not all DLC's are for everyone, I don't think they're supposed to be - one can dislike Tuners but like crazy heists below Chiliad (I for instance don't like the Doomsday Heist too much) and vice versa, but truth is the last few have been pretty well received even with all the discourse about Moodymann and Sessanta's... tension. . Cayo Perico also had celeb appearances and it's a good content pack, included a new location, blah blah. -------------------- To me it makes zero sense to think that including celebs like DJ Pooh, Dr. Dre (who was already in Cayo anyway...) and such affect the production of the DLC's negatively. Plus as I mentioned earlier R* has always had a large involvement in the music industry and such, it's not surprising we're seeing celebs in GTA Online DLC's. It also helps with marketing a ton, really. Don't forget that DJ Pooh is also basically a R* employee - he has been a writer since San Andreas, and his website domain is owned by T2. This is always gonna be an eternal point of discussion because not everyone will like all kinds of DLC's and what content they include, so... Bring on "Fixers" and our returning friend(s).

I can almost guarantee you that the author of the article doesn't even believe anything they wrote and are just trying to meet a "quota" set in place by the people in charge. This is the reality of the world of modern journalism, manufacture drama in order to profit through bullsh*t articles.

  42. Maybe it's because I'm not from the states or live under a cave but what's with this whole "I'm offended" or woke cancel culture trend going on? Like what's wrong with GTA's edgy humor? From what i see it, it's just a satire on America and American's life & culture, made by a bunch of Scottish developers. It mocks everyone and everything. Sure, the trilogy is a product of it's time but you know, why change history? I dunno man, i guess I'm just used to the fact that my kinds of people are always going to be portrayed as either rich idiots (i.e Yusuf Amir from TBoGT) or evil terrorists (Literally every movie/game from Call of duty to BTTF) so i just accepted it and looked at it as a stupid stereotypical joke. I don't see any of those "muh diversity & inclusive" people trying to change that perception so whatever. Sorry for the long post but i just honestly don't get the whole "video games is racist or sexist" opinions when modern gaming are catering to the minorities more than ever before.

Fixers as in reference to say the Fixers from Cyberpunk 2077. Moodymann & Sessanta are examples of Fixers. They grant us tasks/missions to do for their own clients. Expect the same. However, this time, I am guessing Dr.Dre, DJ Pooh and Jimmy Iovine are likely to be our contracts or fixers.

There needs to be a hip hop dlc in GTA online

OP talks about owning and running a record label and everyone complains about radio music....ok yh record label DLC would be cool, dont care about the genre but getting involved in the Vinewood music scene, be it pop, rock, hip hop would be sick, the celeb parties, corruption, threats record label wars, artist happiness, award show assignations etc, your actions having an effect on radio DJ chatter... I can see the potential for a good DLC here everyone sh*tting on other people's music taste should be very ashamed...... i think they generally messed up the hip hop culture in this game, the clothing aint right, the jewellery is stiff and uninspired the sneakers are horrible, lowriders DLC was very good tho and you can barely do any gang gritty stuff unless u rinse out some gerald missions....the black or (hip hop lol) hairstyles except maybe two are horrendous!! i have made a topic on this very issue, it needs more in a sense the ones added were not done right, replaced? updated maybe? one can hope. then again this is a PS3 game so i can deffo cut it some slack. believe it or not there are people that like the things you don't like, what a surprise!!!
