Rockstar, Take Two, Groove Street Gaming and everyone else involved with this sh*t must be sued into the ground. There is absolutey no excuse for this horrible, horrible, horrible package. Not only did they destroy the legacy of these iconic games by releasing such a sh*t, no, they also want us to pay a whopping 60€ for this. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE. Whoever supports this should be sued as well.28 points -

Let me explain a game breaking "new" feature I found in SA's definitive edition. I've been curious about this since they released it as a new thing on Newswire. Yes, it is the increased draw distance. Because it is a great thing for VC and III while for SA, it was worrying and suspicious. I took the hopium and wished that they didn't increase that much. However, after seeing the Los Santos at night picture the last week and also famous Mt. Chilliad being visible, I was ready for disappointment. So, I will say how Grove St. Games broke the game world by adding some new features. I'll start with the original game. In the original San Andreas, there was no skybox as in the other games where they'd put an image of a sky with clouds. This is SA's sky: It only had different colors for different weathers, different time of the day and different places (for example purple sky at desert) Other games mostly had skyboxes like this: It was only a 2D texture. What SA did different was because the game had flyable vehicles, they added 2D clouds that'd appear as you fly through the sky. Just like seen on this picture: Another thing SA did was atmosphere layers like clouds. When you fly higher and higher, you will see tiny layer-like clouds that will give you the illusion of how high you are. Best example can be seen here: The last but not least is the infamous fog. The fog or draw distance in SA is very little compared to other games. One reason for this is hardware limitations of that time and it was easy to render objects in front of you thanks to the fog. Other reason is the atmosphere of Los Angeles. You can see even the nearby areas are still little foggy like in real Los Angeles. They even did it in V's Los Santos: It adds character and aesthetic to the game that player would feel like he's really in there and makes the map feel bigger. Now back to the how GSG broke this world illumination. Firstly, they put a fake skybox with clouds which can be done in Unreal Engine which is okay on its own. However, they removed these 2D clouds when player is in the air which breaks the illusion that you're flying. Secondly, they increased draw distance to the max so player will see all the map clearly... without any clouds or fog or anything that will make you feel like you are flying and seeing far distance lands. You know San Andreas' map is square so there are like four "invisible" corners of the map player shouldn't be able to see. As you remember it was an endless ocean but it was only an illusion because the original map had limits. GSG's added skybox doesn't blend with the sea's color and it makes it look like it's a fake world like Truman Show stage (which it is). Look closely to the video, especially 0:33. You can see the corner of the map. Game world is completely broken.24 points -

Look at the mini-map. What have GSG done. I just noticed on top of the star being wrong the "R" isn't correct either. Look at the bottom that connects to the star it isn't even at the same angle and it is overall to straight. This is how GSG treats R*'s legacy.19 points -

To anyone with common sense, this remaster was dead as soon as it was announced. Nobody wanted a remaster, some wanted a remake. These are twenty year old games, give or take, and outdated animations, physics, etc, just won't cut it in 2021. Sure it might ameliorate the concerns of some graphics whores unable to play the original trilogy because of "le bad grafix!!!111" but it's pretty obvious that even under that thin layer of visual fidelity lies an old and rusted game. This disqualifies a section of the potential audience because PC users can install mods to fix the things that are supposedly fixed in this remaster, it's clearly not intended for them, it's intended for the console audience who are unable to install third party unofficial content. And even then, we were able to make compromises. Despite GSG confirmed to be doing nothing except improving the visuals and changing the controls, they still managed to f*ck that up all the same. After it's announcement, nobody was expecting it to look like a 2021 or even a 2013 game, but instead we got character models straight out of Runescape, skin the texture of laffy taffy. Worldspaces with seams and removed songs. This isn't an upgrade - it's an downgrade, and it's shameless cash grab and power play from Take-Two looking to further their anti-modding agenda. The people defending this remaster live in the third world with consoles, they're hardly have consumer choice. That's what this remaster is: an exploitation of those who lack common sense or standards for their entertainment, or blind nostalgia freaks. It is unacceptable how this remaster looks, plays, and performs. I thought Cyberpunk was a new low, but we seem to have dropped even further. Where did all the time go?17 points -

the red flags went up since the moment "adapted by grove street games" showed up on the rockstar store page some people saw through the bullsh*t right then and there but some people tried to deny it - nonono it's just for the mobile versions, they are mobile developers then it was - nonono other rockstar studios also helped followed by - it's not a port, it's a remaster, they have source material to work with now that the cat is out of the bag, I ask you - do you feel dumb yet? or the damage control plan is now at the "day one patch and future updates" part?15 points -

Everywhere on YouTube, Facebook, twitter, instagram, I see lots of valid criticisms getting shut down with “it’s a remake, not a remaster.” needless to say, nobody cares anymore. The causal fans don’t give a f*ck, rockstar doesn’t give a f*ck, WDS doesn’t give a f*ck, Take two doesn’t give a f*ck. I never would’ve expected such a low quality product from rockstar. Especially the way it was promoted. Between this and E&E, rockstar is done. they’re gonna keep taking in millions a month, and not giving a damn about the community. It’s time to wrap it up people. I just played the DE Trilogy on PS5 for the past 8 hours, and all I can say is: there A LOT of bugs. Across all 3 games there's SO many areas on roads where collisions are located lower than the new textures, so car wheels and characters' feet just sink into it, you've seen this already, but damn, there's just TOO MANY places where this is happening across all 3 games. There's also TONS of floating texture of new vegetation in 3 and SA especially, and it's really getting bad in the SA Desert. And GTA 3 literally missed a good chunk of collision in the area on top of the Portland tunnel portal to Staunton, you just fell through it. Performance on PS5 is not ideal: regular stutters in all games and especially noticeable in SA, but framerate is more good. After respawning in hospital, or after getting busted, textures just simply don't load in time in all 3 games, they load 1-3 seconds after, it looks just bad. The draw distance for new vegetation and rocks in SA, especially desert, is kinda low on PS5, and in general LOD distance on PS5 is not that great. On top of that GTA 3 once crashed, but only after 3 hours of longplay. I noticed new "addition" to SA: exactly on the very center of the map (0 0 0 coords), in Blueberry Acres, where in original games located the bugged post, there's a small red circle for starting mission, and it does nothing, I dunno why they put it here, maybe some sort of testing stuff that they forgot to remove. Also in SA, for anyone who is interested, PS2 props in LV Casinos are missing, but now GSG just totally removed them insted of placing proper from PS2 version, when on PC there were small leftovers from them. And double back wheels on all trucks, trailers, DFT-30 and Yosemite for whatever reason are missing too, when they are presented in the mobile SA port. There's also no co-op mode on PS5, which was in PS3 version of WDS SA. Honestly, this is what bothered me the most of all of the other things. "Good old" checkpoint system from mobile SA also make it appear in DE SA, yeah that checkpoint system where it's saves your game in front of betting ATM and other similar places, so fckn loved it. Why did they use SA menu sounds for 3 and VC? For me it's obvious that SA is "core" of this remaster, I mean 3 and VC now doesn't differ from SA in terms of gameplay at all, GSG made 3 and VC in SA version of renderware i guess, not like it's a bad thing though. The only things now that I don't have mixed feelings about are really great lighting, environment and interiors textures, maybe vegetation too, but there's too much misplacement of it, it floats in a lot of places, in a lot of places it's just placed not right. And I haven't even started a proper walkthrough in any game of Trilogy. I just cruised around cities and did a couple of sub-missions like paramedic, taxi and firefighter. Damn.13 points -
