The development approach of GTAO these days is to do a mid-sized summer update and a big one for December. Sometimes, the former has some sort of relation with the latter. Like some of the resources will be utilized in the summer update that will later on play a bigger role in the December update. With the Tuners update, I would link that to Music Collectibles. We know for sure Dr.Dre will be featured in the next update. So, he will definitely play a role and is one of the familiar faces Rockstar hinted at. They had him mocapped and everything. It's also reasonable to expect Jimmy Iovine and DJ Pooh to be part of the familiar faces too. In terms of general expectation, I believe we are looking at Tuner Contracts Part 2, but this time with Dr.Dre & Jimmy Iovine, DJ Pooh and other characters. You can see the connection between Music Collectibles and this, since we will be seemingly recovering back music parts from whoever stole them. I'm starting to believe that the Nightclub findings don't necessarily confirm Tony's return. Just that, the likely scenario is those thieves will be playing Dr Dre music at their own nightclubs which would look exactly similar to us. I do hope there's more to the update than just recovering back music parts. Like some of these contacts will be thinking big as in doing a heist.23 points -

How is that a nitpick? You're zooming way in, to show objects far in the distance. You don't need to zoom in here to see that these buildings look like garbage. These days games have special textures that are meant to look good from a distance. They're not supposed to look like a blurry mess. It's clearly a texture/asset streaming issue. Honestly i don't even think it's that big of a deal, but why are you so hell-bent on convincing everyone that this is what the devs intended? It's clearly not17 points -

Map-wise for Vice City, it seems they've gone with the PC/Xbox version (which is fairly outdated compared to the PS2 one), though I am basing this off of one very tiny distant prop from the trailer, hah. The PC/Xbox versions of Vice City have a Mean Street Taxis advertisement on the stone benches, whereas the PS2 version has Sunnyside Taxis. The PS2 version is more finalised and has a few extra props, different textures and such, but honestly I can't blame them for not bothering to check or use it - the PS2 models have screwed up faces (as in polygons - not people), lower res textures, etc. It'd be a hassle to sort through it all, especially if you haven't previously obsessed over all the differences like modders have in the past. Meanwhile though, I spotted a few interesting/"positive" things from the screenshots and trailer (perhaps would be better in the analysis thread, but while I'm here..). They have actually added some rooftop props to the buildings along Ocean Drive: They also alternated the neon colours for the Leslie (white and yellow) buildings from a plain white on both to full pink and half pink, and fixed the squigglys (bugged on PC like below, fixed on PS2): And in this screenshot, they made the effort to actually make the windows 3D on this building, which gives me a bit of hope for Little Haiti: I'll probably post more findings in the analysis thread in a bit.16 points -

Before announcement : "The Trilogy rumors are just the forum admins trolling us for ad revenue, you're a fool for believing them lol!" After Announcement : "It doesn't look that good, I'll keep playing the classics installing bazillion mods that make the games somewhat playable and even though the games still crash randomly on my PC" (speaking from experience, collecting Oysters in SA was a pain to me because the game would randomly crash sometimes, even though I had DEP modpack installed). Close to release : "It's Rockstar, anyone who thinks it's not gonna be delayed are out of their minds!!11" Makes me wonder what they're gonna say after release. It's even funnier when you're someone who's following the trilogy thread since day 1, it has been ALWAYS the same group of people who are negative about everything. Before someone takes this the wrong way and come at me with how I'm making fun of people who criticize R*, no I'm not talking about people who genuinely criticise R* (for character models, etc) as well as praise them for the good things (improved vegetation, lighting, etc). I'm talkin' about the same group of people who blow even small things up to gigantic proportions and refuse to agree that there are atleast some good things about the remasters. For some reason they're so dedicated to change everyone's perspective about Rockstar. Like, no, you're not gonna make me hate R* and cry about how it's the "end" of gaming because Tommy looks like he ate an extra burger. There's far more postives about the trilogy for me to care about the negatives. That's my two cents.12 points -

There's a high chance we may see some cool events like these current ones for Christmas too. These Halloween events were made with the freemode creator and the usual scripting too. Rockstar continues to adopt more freemode content. I'm curious what type of events we could be receiving if it were to happen. This again. When were III/VC/SA ever cartoonish? There's a proper word for what they were, stylized. There are multiple HD recreations of 3D era protagonists that somehow manage to both resemble the originals and look like actual humans. DE Tommy, for example, does neither. --- This all makes me wonder if people really know what a remaster is. Say, the devs have a texture of palm tree leaves in 2048*2048. Obviously, this is too HQ for a game, so they resize it to 128*128 and put it into the game. Years later, when PCs get more powerful, they take the original master texture again (hence the term, remaster), resize it to 256*256 or 512*512 and replace the low resolution original. See, that's what a remaster should be, the same texture, but in better quality. There are mods that do exactly that. For example, what Rockstar did with GTA III radio for PC release matches the remaster definition perfectly. They just took the master mix and saved it in higher-than-PS2 quality, done. It's exactly the same radio (even the waveforms match), just better. In modern remasters, including mobile GTA releases and DE, the textures are usually replaced by similar, but almost never the same ones, like how they replaced the LCPD logo in LCS mobile (and III DE too) with the one from IV, which is different. This might not look like an issue, but overall, the game loses it's character, it's no longer the same experience.12 points -

Like most review tech videos, this completely misses the mark lol. I don't think most people are necessarily unhappy with it being a remaster over a remake, and if they are that's because Rockstars announcement was so sh*tty and vague by not specifically specifying what it was. People are mad because they don't believe that the game lives up to it's original artistic style, which is totally understandable and legitimate. This video seems to take just one big assumption and runs with it for 6 minutes. Just another example of someone calling another group of people dumb for having an opinion and bunching them into one large group of "babies", smh.11 points -

"Niko! It's your cousin! I'm just calling you to tell you that schmuck Ash has finally retextured my taxi! That's right Niko! Roman Bellic Enterprises now looks better than ever, though I swear he could've done it sooner, you'd think he would of done it first so I could show it off to everyone! But, oh well cousin, now all the woman that ride in my cab always comment about how nice it looks and how much they want to show me their titties! You should take it for a drive soon cosuin!" After what feels like a huge gap since the last update for the GTA IV Vehicle Pack, I'm finally back with a near complete update that has cleaned up and fixed a lot of minor things that Rockstar forgot about. First up here is the list for what's been updated and added into 1.6: In this update we have SEVEN new interiors, a good chunk had to be made from scratch as they did not exist in GTAV or Max Payne 3, but rest assured I've only used parts from the textures in the game, no outside sources! As mentioned in this tweet from August 30th, all vehicles that use the whitewall wheels have been given their own normal map so they no longer look glitched in-game: And since I've had to do this for Roman's Cab, I've then applied this updated texture to the rest of the Taxi's and Cabbie's in the game, here I've remade the taxi stickers that appear inside and outside various vehicles: Grab the updated pack from the following link: Grand Theft Auto IV Vehicle Pack 1.6 Now to quickly answer some old questions... 1) Thanks for pointing this out, due to the small size it was annoying to fix, but, well, it's fixed now. 2) This appears to be a design choice by Rockstar as the same thing happens in GTAV with this vehicle. 3) Sadly the quality is the best they can be for now without requiring all trhe vehicles to be corrected model wise, however I have gone back and improved the default plates a bit more with the proper details so hopefully this should be better in-game. As with any higher resolution texture update, yes it will affect performance, but in all honesty I've not noticed any issues yet, most modern GPUs have both faster and larger VRAM to negate the additional cost of these higher resolution textures for this game. There's still plenty of games out there that use a lot more VRAM compared to this mod.9 points -

Every games uses lower details for things that are far away from the player. The screenshot you showed was taken on Portland and you showed buildings that were across the river on Staunton Island. Logically, the buildings on Staunton Island will be lowered detailed because they are far from the player. Just look at this picture of Saint Denis in RDR2 taken from the sky above: If you zoom in, you can clearly see that the buildings are low-poly and lack a lot of details, that's to save on ressources So in conclusion, just like zanesix said, you are nitpicking here7 points
