Sorry to break up the flow of discussion I was going to make a separate thread, but thought I’d stick it in here. Do you guys think it would be nice if R* made some kind acknowledgment of the actors who have sadly passed away like Dennis Hopper, Charlie Murphy, Burt Reynolds etc since these games were originally released? It’s an unfortunate part of life, but since the games are so old many great people who lent their amazing talent to bring us some truly iconic characters are no longer with us. I even think something as simple as “in memory of” next to the names in the credits would be appreciated.15 points -

Excited to see just how much more detailed the countryside areas are in San Andreas. Even more trees and more foliage makes it way more immersive this time around especially at night taking an ATV out there or trucking in a big rig with K Rose blasting. Taking a Sanchez up and down Mount Chiliad is gonna be awesome.15 points -

I noticed something is different with the traffic and made an comparsion. Look at the brake lights and how smooth they brake now. Looks like a different traffic system. Not sure which one is better but the brake light improvements make it now really better. Also take a look at the road itself. Seems to be have little more detail like that bump, but i could be wrong because i didn't had the zoom in my footage. GTA 3 GTA 3 Definitive Edition https://imgur.com/gallery/ZKB83XR14 points -

There are some interesting changes happening in the background suggesting possible changes/updates to the landing page aka loading screen. According to @alloc8or, these new elements aren't currently utilized by the game. One of these elements appeared just recently within RDR2's game services. Either these changes are for the next update or E&E. It's not out of the realm of possibility that the next update might contain changes preparing for E&E. Especially, since the Tuners update introduced new game services for Character Transfer to prepare for E&E. Rockstar might change the intro logo too. Maybe to what they tweeted before ...12 points -

Most of the maps from mods for GTAV were fundamentally Vice City map ports with a few minor enhancements which were mostly consisted of new glass shaders, some painted grass and some traffic nodes. The maps that Grove Street Games are doing are far more superior to the mods for GTAV (this also comes from someone who was actively involved in the modding community). And especially the fact they spent only TWO WHOLE YEARS on remastering three somewhat large maps is pretty damn impressive. This person is basically telling Rockstar to port the old Vice City map without any upgrades to Unreal Engine 4... which nobody wants. Here's what Grove Street Games upgraded: All roads are now properly fixed with proper smoothed edges (this is an extremely difficult task for mod devs to sort out) Many buildings remastered with new edits and some even remodelled New vegetation There are now parallax interiors inside buildings All games now feature PBR textures which allows for the game light to properly simulate as it would in real life on models Pavements also reworked New texturing pretty much on every building New weather effects Improved lighting effects New props with new models Vehicle models are also remodelled and some edited Proper LODs system (something mods also had a challenge with) Traffic is much more enhanced now Interiors are also enhanced with more detail and better textures There is now volumetric clouds, mist and fog And so many other upgrades...12 points -

Trilogy remasters coming out in 2 weeks, San Andreas VR announced.. it feels like we're living in a fever dream or something lol. Hopefully we see something new today but no sweat if not. One thing I wish they released alongside these remasters is a short 30-40ish min documentary about developing the 3D trilogy, including interviews with key devs and voice actors. For example, I'd love to hear Shaun Ryders take on playing Maccer lol, even if just a sentence or two. Everyone's getting older now and all the untold stories might be lost forever. After slamming 'The Gamechangers' for being bullsh*t, it would be nice to hear the story from the horses mouth. I know there is BTS footage from the recording studios of VC/SA, but a retrospective doc would be really nice in my opinion. It would be a perfect companion piece to the Trilogy, kinda like how The Introduction/Sunday Driver was packaged with some versions of SA. Alas, it's unlikely to happen sadly.12 points -

Repost...looks like i choosed the wrong thread, sorry Here is the list of the huge artistic fails which disappointed me once i saw the footage the first time. Rockstar Games is known for higher quality standards. That is shamefull if they keep it for November release. But how about looking at it yourself? South California plants in iconic South Florida areas: Model problems I hope we won't see any of these issues on release date. It currently looks really like an beta stage map mod for GTA SA and Vice City. GTA 3 so far came out best due to its limited amount of screenshots and gameplay scenes. But showing all this after the E&E disaster is really really bothering me. These are old games, i know, but they have touched the models so they can fix it. Or more likely must fix it. As modern lighting makes all the low polygons look real ugly. I don't understand why we see some very hard orginal edgy corners on the terrain/roads and at some places, smoothed roads and terrain. I want consitant art. The same goes to the plants. Tropical plants please so we get the flavour of South Florida. Otherwise i can stick with old map mods they decided to ban, because modders would even able to fix these issues. Come on guys. Don't take my last hope. I am a long time supporter/fan for Rockstar Games. And if they really had DMA heads in this project, i expect the same amount of research and love, they gived the games in the first place back when they was new.12 points -

To play devil's advocate, historically Rockstar don't announce their games only a month before launch. My prediction is some time next week we will see a preview of new features, or at the very least a bunch of screenshots, then a launch trailer a couple of days before launch. It's possible they might do a Trevor/Michael/Franklin style set of trailers where they have a short trailer for each title, released one at a time throughout the coming week.10 points -

Who wouldn't want something like that? Just make it fast in the water and let it glide in the air like oppressor mk1 Great answer for all of those people who always said "they will never do a Naval dlc cause boats are slow and boring". And now after Cayo Perico, no one can ever argue again that "they simply can't add a new island...". So here's my pitch: Reuse some assets from Cayo Perico and let us buy a tiny private island. Let players pick one of 3-5 different shapes (that way all the other variants of the island can be used for new missions) Features: - Small mansion - Your own security team (like the mansion security you had in Vice City). Let us hire different npcs to keep the place safe. Let us pick different outfit themes (hawaiian shirts/suits/mercs/halloween/xmas etc) - Hangar for aircrafts - Dock for your boats and amphibious vehicles - Spawn points for your yacht and submarine - Minigames for you and your friends (arcades, pool tables, bowling, mini golf, go kart / rc car race track) - Custom Yachts with new features Missions in Los Santos: - Basically I/E part 2 but for aircrafts, boats and other vehicles. Steal the vehicle->deliver it to your private island->customize it->sell it for profit (doing so could also unlock new custom versions of old aircrafts like Buzzard, Cargobob, SeaSparrow, Havok etc.) Missions on the open sea: - "Headhunt" where you destroy small military ships, planes, and other similar targets - "Piracy Prevention" where other players have to attack your island (+ a similar mission but with NPCs instead of players, Island Survival) - Stealing stuff from small islands, crashed ships, aircraft carriers, cargo ships, cruise ships, oil rigs etc) Not to mention they could add a lot of other cool stuff. Like new amphibious vehicles, new CEO vehicles, "sea terrorbyte", shooting underwater, shark hunting, ability to spawn boats and amphibious vehicles right next to you etc10 points -

Yeah, as someone who mods the game to my nitpicky perfection I immediately noticed some of this stuff, especially stuff like the lamp post, weird reflection on the police blockade screenshot, and the Vinewood sign. How they thought that looked OK for a reveal is beyond me, they aren't even trying to hide it. This is what I meant by the lack of consistency being the biggest red flag. On one hand, the map and vehicles (normals/UV mapping aside) look great, but meanwhile they're using a f*cking upscaled jeans texture and created the most disgusting Tommy Vercetti model I've ever seen in my life. What the hell is going on over there? All of this only makes me worried about what they DIDN'T show...10 points -

Does gameplay really matter here though? A remaster is typically about the graphics, any gameplay changes are just a bonus. Also, pointing out inconsistencies is justified fear. If people are able to pick apart these games this bad from their one big reveal, think about the stuff they WEREN'T confident to show... It's not completely unreasonable to raise an eyebrow at some of this stuff.9 points -

Feel like doing some "nitpicking" myself as it seems this "nitpick" depends on which day we're on, one day it's unacceptable to "nitpick" while another day it's just fine to "nitpick". Probably should wait until we actually get the game and test it for ourselves but can't help noticing this with these VC screenshots, the traffic seems to be crowded with vehicles and peds on the left side of the screenshot while it's dead empty on the right side: Now these screenshots don't even have any peds at all: Oh it's raining that's why there's no peds? ok here no rain and still no peds to be seen: What's going on here? early beta shots or is this how the traffic is going to be?9 points -

Don't know why it's so hard for some to engage in an argument without calling others fanboys or other inane crap just because they have a different view. I'm not sure whether you're looking for an actual conclusion to the argument, an actual debate about the screenshots that could change your views, or just attention seeking at this point. Every single R* game (and others) has screenshots from different parts of development, the game isn't going to release with an unfinished building... Weird character models? Sure. Bugs? Fine, you can think that. But an outright unfinished building, and thinking this screenshot is recent? Come on, lol.8 points -

I got a feeling that what happens when You don't have or don't want to have any artistic control over the project. R* doesn't seem to care about their creation, about its appearance or idea that was standing behind it. Just make something to squeeze a quick buck out of it and we're done. I am working in a game developing company (that's no secret), which works as an outsourcing for bigger companies. My company can do co-development, qa testing, porting and basically anything connected to video games as long as You have money. Few years ago we were doing a remaster of pretty big game (can't tell You the title - that's a secret), that probably have as many fans as GTA, especially these that prefer original appearance and atmosphere of the game. Original developer sent us two guys - one of them was definitely artistic director - who sit with our artists and designers to make sure everything looks much better, but retains the original feeling and vision. If I recall correctly they even were sending us their own effects they wanted us to incorporate. They knew that fans are hard to win over if You don't pour Your heart into the remaster, so they did everything they could to please both sides (original players and the new ones who may start the game with the new version). Remaster was rated above 80 by the critics and slightly lower by the fans (who are generally hard to buy), so I guess in the end it was worth it.8 points -

I don't see anything wrong in this shot despite a couple of people having pointed it out. The structure of the train itself doesn't bend the same way the curve does as far as I know. Could you imagine being on a train and suddenly the car itself would just bend? The wheels at back of the car are at the start of the curve and the wheels at the front are at the end, the rest will accompany. That's how I see it at least.8 points -

Wow, nobody's going to mention how the field of robotics has really advanced in this day and age? The model is so realistic, it almost looks like a human. There is still some slight visual difference and the voice still needs some "humanization" to say the least, since it's obviously too monotone and mechanical, but well done Facebook on all the details. I knew they had the tech to sh*t on Elon. Do you guys know if it's still a prototype or if it will be commercially available soon?8 points
