    I wish they just did a straight GTA III remake instead. It's weird seeing a game look like it's from 2009 but function like a game from 2001. The remaster literally looks fan-made, as if it's some guy's mod list. Maybe they didn't have faith in GTA III to sell well without also being packaged with VC and SA and they decided it would be faster and less time-consuming to simply slap it in Unreal and spruce it up a little? I had hoped people would have a little bit more faith in these games. GTA III, VC, and SA don't feel like HD Universe games. Even if they were remade in RAGE, I definitely feel as if people would be able to differentiate between the titles. Besides, if a game has to have a distinct visual style to be able to tell it apart from another game, it wasn't all that unique in the first place. I guess that's why I'm so disappointed with this remaster. Rockstar are a multi-billion dollar company. They couldn't spare the resources to show a little bit more respect to the game that made them the household name they are right now? It's just insane to me how so many great remakes are popular right now: Mafia, Resident Evil 2, Demon's Souls, etc - and Rockstar can't even spare the effort to look at what year at is. They should've just left the trilogy as it is. That would've given people the chance to buy them and experience them how they're supposed to be experienced, how they were envisioned by the designers behind them. If people wanted better graphics they could just mod them, but we all know how much TakeTwo hates modding, another sad reality of this remaster.

  6. Once again, Rockstar are using parallax interiors in the remasters for the first time in a Rockstar Games title. Found them in GTA3 this time in the trailer as the thunder lighting strikes providing further clarity for us to see! Some info on what they're are! They're basically fake interiors without a crappy 2D texture overlayed on a building but it gives the impression as if it's a real interior. It's mostly used in Spider-Man! I'm very surpisred Rockstar have decided to put so much work in to these maps... it's really mindblowing.

    The ridiculous outrage for the remastered trilogy

    Just to inject on the part about mods... 1) YES, we agree that modding isn't easy up front, especially with how awkwardly supported III/VC were. You know what the community did though? re3/reVC, a simple EXE file that runs the game instead and included all the benefits of mods like SkyGFX, SilentPatch, GInput, etc. This ONE file was meant to act as a fresh build to run the game in a simple and easy way for people and by default you could chose what filters you wanted for the game. Want the overly bright and sharp Mobile style? Select that! Want the classic PS2 colour filter and trails? Select that! And if you had shader knowledge, you could inject that into a build, which people out there started to do which was pushing these old games further. So what went wrong? Take-Two and Rockstar went on their mass DMCA take down and then sued the main contributors to that project. THE biggest attempt at making III/VC easy to use for modern players was struck down. 2) YES Modders don't have the time or resource to do things to scale like DE, but that's the difference, Modders are doing this for free in their spare time, Grove Street Games have worked on this for over two years getting paid to do so and have access to the sources. IF the modders had access to the sources and were being paid, you can sure as hell bet the results would be pushed further. For example on this, I'm just going to mention my work here: Specifically the GTA IV section, I only started my remasters for that game under a year ago (with another vehicle update coming soon whenever I have the time to polish up some stuff), I'm doing this on essentially minimal time, not even an hour a week and I'm doing this all by myself. Now IF I was being paid and had access to the sources I would've finished all of this ages ago, hell I'm hesitant to start the map stuff but if I had a team and was being paid to do so I'd be running with that! It's not that a lot of the modders don't have the SKILL, it's just the difference between TIME and MONEY. I know a lot of people like to look down on the modding community but a lot of us have actual professional jobs and work in the industry in various ways, for us this stuff is just side fun stuff that we want to put out there to better these games for people.

  11. The differences with the the models and almost everything about this scene is amazing. They completely upgraded the explosion effects and even the vehicle itself. Just love how cinematic Vice City looks now (pls don't focus on the flag, thanks... we get the point already)

    Found the woke warrior who gets offended daily on Twitter..Rockstar is full of pussies now. The whole point was that GTA made fun of EVERYONE, yet now some people are apparently "untouchable" but of course there are dozens of shows that make fun of conservatives (or white people in general). That's really "funny" but if you dare to make fun of liberals or lgbt+ people its suddenly wrong. f*ck this era. I'm sure liberals like you were mad when conservatives were trying to cancel GTA back in the 2000s but now if you do it its morally right User was warned for this post - yes it's a touchy subject, but that doesn't justify the unnecessary dig at the start, all that does is make the discussion more hostile

  20. One thing I really can't understand is people saying "They made the characters look cartoony to keep the original aesthetics. See, faithful!" 1) Cartoony character models just don't mix with, I admit, well done map rework and realistic Unreal rendering and effects. 2) When did III, VC or SA ever look cartoony? They had some distinctive style to them, but they never looked cartoony. Fortnite is cartoony, Sims is cartoony, even Saints Row 3 onwards can be called somewhat cartoony, but not GTA trilogy games.

    I went to the Grove Street Games official website and found 1 really quite interesting image: As we can see here on desktop 4 icons: GTA 3, VC, SA (All classic trilogy) and RGL. (RGL, as we known, released in Sept. 2019, just around time when they probably start working on DE Trilogy, but maybe they haved some kinda test-purpose early bulid, still year 2019 most likely): And here this imaged just upscaled a bit with AI: And in current programm window below the top-white one, we can see GTA SA loading screen, defenitely from 2013 remaster, because its missing Big Smoke but still have his shadow, they forgot to remove it in their remaster And ontop you can see another program window, though i barely can see anything on it. What's you guys think about this one? Can be new DE based on 10th anniversary versions? Or maybe its just like assets from previous version, i dunno honestly what think about this one. Maybe its doesn't mean aniything at all.

    I had no intentions on revisiting this thread but this comment is utterly absurd. I've been a member here for a very long time, last I checked this was a fan site of my favorite video game franchise, not a political groups echo chamber where anyone with a dissenting opinion gets labeled a bigot. Just because you may the find the direction the wind is blowing today offensive, that doesn't make the wind a bigot. Alphabet people is not a slur, its not prejudice nor is it inflammatory. Refusing to call a group of people by what they prefer to be called and saying that group of people shouldn't have an exemption from comedy and satire does not in any way shape or form fit the definition of bigotry. Now that, that is out of the way, lets take this back to GTA since that's why we're all here... There is sizeable group of African-Americans who take big offense to black men being portrayed as murderous gangsters. Same can be said for Italians, Hispanics and Asians. If you support the removal of Pschyo Killer from VC to protect a groups feelings, how do you not support the removal of the gang element from GTA games without looking like an entitled hypocrite?

    The casino building also receives texture improvements with some textures on the animated signs remade and in addition the Casino sign has been edited with much smoother corners with no poly edges. This is a huge improvement!

Actually this is VERY WRONG, the effect was broken on PC and Xbox and wasn't corrected by Rockstar, it was only fixed on PC in recent years thanks to SkyGFX, where the fault and fix is very well documented: Again, please make sure you know what you're talking about before trying to mock others for it.

    The whole argument/idea that the reverse engineering or modding takes away from potential sales is ridiculous. GTA is a huge franchise/brand, there's no denying how popular it is. The remasters are going to be gobbled up by all types of casual players, whereas only a small subset of fans are the ones who know or even care about modding, or the reverse engineering projects.

    The toddler logic when it comes to the removal of the flag is what gets me. Do they think that it makes Tommy a racist by association or something? The confederate flag is baked into the hick stereotype, it's just a way of showing you they're from the rural south. I'd love to transport a zoomer to Atlanta circa 2002, watch them have a mental breakdown when they see an Outkast concert.

    It's never been about the Confederate flag in itself btw. It's about the fact that like it or not, it was part of the intact original product, and made sense to have. Or was Phil Cassidy, the arms-dealing, bank-robbing, deadly illegal moonshine brewing lunatic now some f*cking saint who only wore politically correct attire in the 80's? Let alone the Trailer Park Mafia from VCS? There's a handful of flags that represent some really harmful currently ongoing things too, but I haven't been seeing anyone demanding takedowns of Chinese flags from games.

    Wow, the more we analyse it the more I realise it's damn better than what I expected. I mean it was pretty obvious that it'll get better lighting, and I knew lighting upgrade wouldn't be minor, but some of the screenshots like the casino one or the one with explosion behind CJ simply looks amazing. At times it looks better than GTA IV - which is just crazy! I was not expecting such a noticeable difference. The fact that they straight up remade some textures and even added new props to some interiors (like Sweet's kitchen) just shows how much effort they've put into it.

  47. dude, you're f*cking with me right? it looks like michael jackson before he died of a damn drug overdose. hell, that's an insult to michael jackson! changing the textures wouldn't solve that - it's a fundamentally f*cked up model. you can't just subdivide a 700 poly character and expect a good result, and any new mesh will always have discrepancies from the original on account of being a new mesh. considering that, i think the new ones are much better than whatever THAT sleep paralysis demon is
