Ruffian Games, now Rockstar Dundee is most definitely working on GTAV current gen for quite a while. As far as I can remember it was Oct, 2019 when it was first discovered that they were working for Rockstar. So if GTAV current gen versions are coming in say, July 2021, it was almost certainly being developed for more than a year. For that reason alone I don't think it's just simple UI upgrade and [email protected] mode being added to the game. It's almost certainly more than that. And Rockstar probably wouldn't buy a studio without working with them for a while. Edit :9 points -
sivispacem abusing his position again
StuntGames and 7 others reacted to John Smith 2021 for a topic
Smith John (or John Smith) here with a temporary new account I had to frustratingly create in order to post my complaint. Normally I wouldn't bother making a fuss about this, but I guess I'm doing so for - what I imagine to be - all of the other members suppressed by Mr. Space. It seems our friendly forum mod, sivispacem, is on another power trip again. There was a post made by a member (Laura91) in the US election thread in Gen Chat that was basically just a flame post to another member. Not only did sivispacem not warn against/remove the post, but pretty much endorsed the flaming by agreeing with this member. I then made a post calling this out, asking if it is now permitted to flame other members in Gen Chat so long as you fit a particular political persuasion. And just like that, he immediately removed my post and banned me from posting for 7 days with the explanation/reasoning: 'Don't be a c*nt', while the flamer in question remains perfectly free to carry on with their obnoxious conduct (conduct regularly carried out by sivis himself too, I might add). Apparently me calling out the flamer is a worse crime than actually flaming!... Why this guy is still a mod is truly baffling. He honestly acts like such a petulant little child, throwing his weight around this place as if it were his own little playground. He has gradually created a narrative around here over the years by being very, very selective in his moderation approach, and I can say for a fact that many members have pissed off away from this place because they can't be bothered with his ego-stroking sh*te and uncalled for insults, coupled with his ability to delete posts/ban members if they don't conform to his warped version of what constitutes open discussion. This is most likely why any thread with political discourse has been such an echo chamber the past 4 or 5 years on here. He has a clear vendetta against me because I simply call out his bollocks and hypocrisy every now and again (for which he accuses me of being a "troll"), and it's only a matter of time before he permanently bans me, which I believe is his ultimate aim here with all of the unwarranted 'naughty' points he keeps accumulating and attributing to me. There are a few mods/admins on this forum I don't necessarily agree with when it comes to all of this political stuff, but at least they are civil and respectful. sivis, on the other hand, is just, well, I better not say anymore. In the event he sees this complaint and deletes this too (as well as IP bans this account - I honestly wouldn't put it past him) before it reaches an admin, I have saved everything and will simply create another account on a different device and PM admins directly next time. I just hope it doesn't come to that.8 points -

The crouching has apparently been there since release, it's just disabled. There's a command for it within the game configuration. I don't know how long has that command existed, but it's certainly been there for quite the time. As for why it's disabled, I think that's a design choice, not one limited by technical limitations. It's probably one of those ideas that sounded cool on paper, but didn't in game.6 points -

Don't worry we could still get a late 2023 release. A lot of people in this forum (including myself) believe in a tighter marketing period. Meaning a release 6 to 12 months from announcement. Snapshot 4.1.3 is now available! Good news for everyone who is waiting on a version of GTA: Underground and/or UG-MP which has better performance. Snapshot 4.1.3 is now available which should increase your frame rate by about 40. Changelog Fixed bw_kart model ID checks not being present Added an option to change the executable name in the UG-MP launcher Disabled ped shadows and stencil shadows. This will result in a ~20 fps increase. Drastically lowered the draw distance on VC/III/VCS/LCS weathers. This will result in a ~15 to 20 fps increase. @alloc8or found out new structs that were added with the recent update relating to the standalone version and one of them is "rage::fwuiMessageBase", which is from RDR2's RAGE version, so that seems to go along what @Spider-Vice & @uNi stated, that the enhanced edition is likely to utilize RDR2's RAGE version. However, it could just be that the UI would utilize RDR2's base code, while the rest remains the same. The rest of the new structs are listed here: The interesting one is "CHasCharacterToTransferDecisionPage" that seems to confirm character transfers will be available once the enhanced edition eventually releases.6 points -

Cool detail I saw yesterday - I discovered that really cool Arasaka Tower memorial, first time I went there it was at night and it was all lit up with not much people about, giving a very serene vibe. I inadvertently went back there during the day, this time it was more populated and there was literally a school trip happening with a class of about 10 children being shown the memorial by their teacher. I'm not trying to fuel the whole GTA vs CP thing but I've just never seen anything like that in a GTA game - theres a lot of complaints about Night City being dead and non immersive but if you really look you'll come across things that make you think otherwise.5 points -

Yep, they want you to cave in and buy those gold bars. I hear you, I'm not a grinder. My game play is basically me just riding across the map and doing missions, finding collectibles where I remember them, and hoping to meet some random encounters along the way. I guess they think that it makes the outfits look cool. My opinion, they need to get another fashion adviser. Instead of outfits that have those flashy embellishments on them they need to give us outfits that are worn and lived in, vests that are open, better outfits for the ladies, and they really need to fix the poncho and gunbelt fit to make it look right. But of course, we get more skulls.5 points -

It's just not a good experience. It's the law of the jungle - you either adapt to the bs that sometimes this game puts you through, or you give up and go back to singleplayer GTA experiences. The game itself is not bad and has many very interesting and fun ideas and elements to it, but it lacks cohesion imo. Personally, I only play GTA Online because the new content from Rockstar is there, but if I had to choose between a singleplayer DLC and an Online DLC I would choose the first in a heartbeat5 points -

I feel like they made her fearless because by that point she had nothing left to lose. They established she could take care of herself before the events of RDR2 so It's not too big of a stretch to me. It's also important to remember that while they portrayed her as a one woman killing machine, you played as Arthur.... who was also a one man killing machine. Being a one man killing machine is pretty much the first requirement to being a Rockstar game protagonist lol.4 points -

Putting aside for a moment the fact it's quite simply wrong on a basic factual level, it contributes literally nothing meaningful to claim someone or something is "closest" to a point of references they share absolutely no characteristics with. It's the logical equivalent of taking a collection of garden gnomes and asserting one has the largest penis. An intentionally vague term that you can mean pretty much whatever you want. Given that I was alive during part of them I consider the 80s "recent history" as would a great many other people, and you can't honestly be suggesting that Ronnie was less of a fascist than Obama. You have got to be joking. Donald Trump has done far more than simply "sh*tpost on Twitter"; he has perpetrated a sustained assault on individual liberties, worked to create a shadow government through changes to the political appointee system within the civil service by stuffing senior roles with allies then changing these positions into apolitical "lifer" roles (and indeed the inverse, changing truly apolitical roles into political ones do he could fire civil servants and replace them with yes men), encouraged and enabled the founding and expansion of what are effectively armed loyalist paramilitary groups under his ideological control and, judging by events on the 6th, directly commanded by him. Attacks on freedom of speech and freedom of the press, the use of the judiciary to harass political opponents, the list goes on. Nepotism, cronyism, explicit support for white nationalist groups, the disproportionate use of military and law enforcement capabilities against ideological enemies, the striation of American political and cultural society into "us" and "them", and attempted corruption of the levers of political power and the fundamental separation between legislature, judiciary and executive in a desperate attempt to cling to power. It's hard to find a single area in which the last four years have not seen the Trump administration has not skirted closer to Fascism than the Obama administration. Several points vis-a-vis this; 1) most of the mechanisms and capabilities disclosed in the 2013+ surveillance leaks significantly predated the Obama regime. They're an allegation that could equally be levelled at any post-1990 presidency including that of Trump given that most of the powers still exist and the checks and balances are still effectively nonexistent. The association with Obama because the disclosure happened on his watch shouldn't be misconstrued as his being responsible for the building and operation of these capabilities. 2) a slightly more semantic issue, but one worth bringing to the fore given that I've spent the last 16 or so years either working or studying in international relations and strategic studies, with about half of that specifically working in "computer network defense" as the NSA would term it. NSA mass collection activity against Americans was/is, on a technical level, not espionage (spying). It comprises only part of the intelligence cycle (collection and processing) and by and large US citizens were not explicit targets of thus collection activity but incidental. The term "surveillance" hits somewhat closer to the mark but still isn't really accurate from the context of describing what happened with contentious collected data (IE very little from an actions perspective), which is best described as "indiscriminate intelligence collection". That's not to devalue the human rights and civil liberties impact but "spying" despite its colloquial usage has specific technical connotations which don't accurately describe the likes of ECHELON or XKeyScore. The problem with this contention is that I'm not referring to pro-Trump protest activity in general. Nothing I've said could reasonably be construed as characterising all Trump supporting protests by the actions of those who stormed the capitol. I'm saying it's obviously fallacious to draw analogies between violence and looting emanating from rights protests and an attempted armed insurrection. Nor should it be construed as a moral judgement that one is contextually "acceptable". The simple fact that both involved violence does not make them comparable. It's only objectively false if you intentionally misquote me. The words that followed that statement were "than have been attributed to the actions of BLM and their supporters in over 2,400 protests across 5 months." I wasn't referring to 2014, or 2016, I was referring to the 5 months of unrest that followed the George Floyd killing in May 2020. The only police fatalities that occured during those 2,500 or so protests across those months were caused by Boogaloo Bois. "But what about X" tu quoques are not useful in objective analysis of events. Pointing out alleged hypocrisy doesn't constitute a meaningful rebuttal. The problem with this that rationalisation, apologism and encouragement or instigation are not the same thing. Rationalising something doesn't mean you agree with it, just that you understand the circumstances leading to it occurring. It's unreasonable and illogical to equate even being an apologist for violent actions- "well that's what happens when you deny the downtrodden a voice" etc- with inciting them. I would counter that this is an extremely narrow perspective from which to speak, not least of all because a direct incitement to violence doesn't itself need to contain violent language. And "marching on the capitol to stop the steal" is self-evidently direct action. The notion that Trump did not know he was speaking to a group of self identifying armed revolutionaries when he gave his speech is absolutely unconscionable. He will have been made aware through his Secret Service detail and through federal intelligence and law enforcement briefings that attendees of the rally had come armed and prepared to kidnap and inflict violence on elected representatives. This intent was publicly expressed by the individuals in question and supported by the actions of some once they breached the Capitol. To deliver the words he did, and call for the actions he did, in full knowledge of the facts above cannot possibly be interpreted as anything other than an incitement to violence. Denying the confirmation would have required violent action, plain and simple, and calling on his followers to do so is therefore an incitement of that. Not only did he do this, he also created an environment where the prospect of success was improved by specifically refusing to mobilise federal resources even after the Capitol had been overrun. Ah but we weren't talking about general BLM supporters, we were discussing the specific assertion you'd made that democrat figures had incited violence through their comments. https://people.ucsc.edu/~jwest1/articles/West_RacialBiasPolice.pdf https://www.nature.com/articles/s41562-020-0858-1 https://sparq.stanford.edu/opd-reports That's just for starters. I don't think it is questionable. It's a platform which permits hate speech and incitement of violence under the pretext of "free speech". It doesn't stop being a mouthpiece for hate just because people other than extremists also use it. I'm not "characterising a movement", though. I'm contrasting specific actions. I don't support the harassments of elected politicians by any stretch of the imagination but drawing moral equivalence between it and literally trying to overthrow the government is frankly idiotic.4 points -

Alright let me type something before I get warned for sh*tposting. The "80s in Vice City has already been done" argument. The last time Rockstar did the 80s theme was 14 years ago in VCS, 18 years ago if you didn't play VCS. The majority of people that play GTA today probably haven't played either of those, so no it hasn't been over done. The "It will just feel like a Vice City remake" argument. No, the team working on GTAVI is pretty much a completely different team. The technology used for VC in 2002 compared to our technology now is like comparing a calculator to a super computer. The lighting, models, graphics, and ambience will feel completely new and fresh. The "modern era pog" argument. No. The "online will be boring if they use the 80s" argument. No. There is so many new mechanics they can add to the game that can make it more than just about owning futuristic bullsh*t. They can add real purpose for crews like setting up actual drug dealing networks and clubhouses you can upgrade using money your crew makes selling drugs, guns, etc.4 points -

The overall experience is a very negative one. I'm lucky enough to have the time to play GTA Online far more than anyone should.. I often think about the players who only get to play for 1 to 2 hours at a time. You can literally get sh*t on the entire time. There wouldnt be as much criticism but Rockstar decided to limit much of their features to PUBLIC sessions. And they are so toxic you can literally develop cancer playing this sh*t for real for real. Invite and Solo public session can feel like heaven sometimes. It's incredibly smooth. And it's like a Single Player expansion... But sometimes you yearn for the company of others for the spontaneity..even if the majority are thoughtless and uncreative teens or just Unchill douchebags. I'm equally disappointed with the playerbase as I am with how Rockstar handled GTAO... But alas it's just a business about money. The gta classics still go hard to this day though.. I still play gta3 on my mobile4 points
