If Rockstar's selection of the podium vehicles factors in a possible release window for the next update, then we may be looking at a possible release window no earlier than December 3rd. And that puts them in a tough spot dealing with Cyberpunk 2077 new release date, which notably poses a threat to their financial strategy. It's obvious the basic rule of their strategy would be to lure in as many players as possible, new and returning players alike, as that's the focal point Rockstar focused on last year with their record-breaking holiday season. Rockstar is most likely looking forward to achieving another record-breaking holiday season with this "biggest update ever" coming this December, yet if it's scheduled to release in the same week as this year's most anticipated game, I don't see them succeeding much, but I would give them the benefit of the doubt. To be fair, it's probably not that much of a big deal for them and they would just release it whenever they like.

It's not a comparison of the two products; it's the business angle that's gonna be the interesting part to see play out. Rockstar are going to be hoping that they've made Heists 4 enticing enough, to hopefully bring their current playerbase and any potential new players into buying sharkcards in the first week of its launch. If the update launches and word spreads in the first 24-ish hours the payouts are terrible for the investment costs and Rockstar got greedy (like Gunrunning Research & Arena War Wheel greedy), many players will just consider leaving it alone until the/any property prices for the Heist are discounted a few weeks later as per usual with any update and instead invest their time in playing a long-awaited, highly anticipated, unique title in the market, RPG that they could get lost in for weeks on end. If players were to be drawn more towards playing CP77 instead of Heists 4 in the first week of it being added to GTA Online, the sales figures will struggle to match Rockstar's projections, which is bad news for them given they're touting this as not only a Heist update, but GTA Online's biggest ever update, AND the inclusion of an "entirely new location", something of which, is a topic that has been discussed a lot since the addition of the first Casino update. As for us the customers? We're in a brilliant position. December's gonna be brilliant.

CP2077 new release date is possibly just bad news to Rockstar's marketing department, as they specialize on this kind of matter. Which, in contrast, is good news to us if it prompts them to adjust their marketing campaign a little bit.

Not sure I agree. Cyberpunk is right up my alley, but it doesn't cater to as broad of an audience as GTA does. Beyond that, Cyberpunk won't have multiplayer for years. Even if Cyberpunk overperforms, it won't put a dent in GTA—especially long term. I hope R* aren't planning something big. They've gone big already. We need revolutionary. I don't think Online is floundering by any means, but it's not going to grow again until it's properly revitalized. I desperately want to get back on, but I can't find the will to reach for that disc every time I think about it.

Released v3.4 VSync fix no longer does anything on patch 4 (previously did nothing but also messed up load times) Added IncreaseObjectLimit to increase the Objects pool if required Added CarDynamicShadowFix for re-enabling car shadows from lampposts, helicopter spotlights and the Booth Tunnel (has a performance hit) Added CarPartsShadowFix for dynamic/night shadows cast by detached car parts Added AlwaysUsePedDrawingForPlayerModel for Niko protection (install my Niko ped mod with the name player, remove player.wtd, wft and wbs from playerped.rpf and then enable this option for it to work) To fix headlight cones clipping into the car model with CarDynamicShadowFix on, add an entry in the .ini [HeadlightConeOffsets] section for it and tweak its offset until it doesn't happen

Gamers won't play Cyberpunk or the new 'biggest ever' GTAO update, they'll play both. Depending on the chronology the average player might spend a few weeks or maybe the whole holiday season mostly playing Cyberpunk, but they will get around to thoroughly checking out the new GTA DLC too. The real risk is they'll look at the newly-updated yet still highly toxic GTA Online world, compare it to the massively more modern, exciting, less tired-out and fresh-in-memory Cyberpunk experience and think, 'meh' before going back to Cybersprunk. For GTAO players it might mean they get a lot more kicks and thrills from R* to keep folks' attention. As others have said, real competition is a very good thing indeed and long overdue.

GTA Online's loading problems aren't hardware related. If you watch your resource monitors you can see your disk usage isn't really being utilized. A good indicator of this is running the game on a traditional HDD isn't much different than my NVMe drive when loading into online. Meanwhile loading singleplayer takes literally seconds. The problem is it's Rockstar's garbage matchmaking and online services. Because they went peer to peer its not like your client is connecting with a central server to sync up the lobby, it has to communicate with all the other clients. That's if the matchmaking service actually works and finds you a valid lobby. I frequently get the pop-up "GTA Online is FUBAR go back to singleplayer" and have to find another lobby. Another issue is when you have a modder in the lobby and want to switch lobbies, Rockstar's genius matchmaking service makes you go through a ridiculous loading time only to be put in the same lobby you just tried to leave. The only way to switch lobbies is to go back to singleplayer, and then load back into online. All because Rockstar is too cheap to pay for some dedicated servers.

It's kind of a threat. Cyber Punk is potentially going to release in the same week as the GTAO DLC. A lot of players will be torn between playing that and GTAO. Not to mention the upcoming RDO DLC and the other big titles as well. Also, what if it's not a map expansion? There is every possibility that it's just going to be a new building on the current map. That itself might spread negativity and turn some players away? But anyway, R* needs competition. Whether that's Cyber Punk or some other game, R* and GTA need a rival. A bit of competition might actually bring the best out of them.

And old issues are starting to grow like f*cking weeds again. Infinite black screens, infinite loading, Bounty missions not loading but remove all icons from the map and game, Bounties not ending etc. Its pretty obvious that the high player counts are to blame.
