I decided to put my analysis thus far into a new thread. It's comprehensive, but I don't believe complete. There's a lot to look at, and the more I see it, the more I'm convinced it's a legitimate leak.

It's just a new studio. However, they do have porting experience. A lot of it.

I'm in a weird camp with that map. When I first saw it a while back I dismissed it as fake, but looking at it coming back with topography displaying streets, buildings, and structures, and yet still low-res, indicates a bit to me that it is in fact real, yet still an early draft. The one way to prove that it is fake is to look closely into the source of the topography, which of course is challenging due to the resolution. At this time, I'm officially in the "I assume it's legit" camp, which I almost never place for speculation on any Rockstar game. The RDR II map caught me entirely off guard when within the first few trailers people were able to corroborate locations based on landmarks on the leaked map. In this instance, the quality is different and the approach to determining its legitimacy is slightly more challenging as it does not have those identifying squares in a grid to indicate sections of the map. The low-quality of what I would like to call the "early vision" of the map looks a lot like a fanmade map in the style of GTA San Andreas, but it is possible that this is their approach to setting up locations to line up as reference to the presumably-already-written story script. I'm also conflicted with the increased quality of portions of the same map. At this point, if it's not just an early idea, why aren't there square grids like the RDR II map, and why does half of it look fanmade? My best explanation is that multiple departments have access to the same map, but in a different style relevant to their line of work. I'm not a developer, but that's an explanation that I think is useful to breakdown the theory of this map's legitimacy. TL;DR: the leak is likely real, and I'm going to look a bit more into it throughout this week to build a defense, as well as an argument against, whether or not this leak is real.

I don't mind as much as long as there is another major city of a similar size, which doesn't appear to be the case. A singe city + countryside again is not enough for next gen and potentially 10 year of waiting. I don't care what anyone says. I expect two cities.

Looking back on better times and great updates, I vividly remember the day they announced doomsday heist; I would go into the bathroom in school to go on my phone and just check stuff in general. And I saw a tweet rockstar put out saying “The Doomsday Heist, coming December 12th. I at first thought for some reason It was something new game related but after watching the trailer I went crazy looking at how many new things from deloreans to jet packs were coming in. That was a good update content wise we need that On a bigger scale This time around

Speaking of artwork, I hope they gonna promote it with similar posters: And looking at those, man I hope we gonna get more amphibious aircrafts. We know there was a new version of Sea Sparrow that was cut from Summer Special so they probably gonna give us that. But I really hope there's more. Maybe PBY Catalina? That could be a neat little reference to the real life location Or maybe a plane from TaleSpin since they look similar.

I'm going to compare the versions of the same map that we've received to see initial differences in "development" by establishing a hypothesized timeline of the map's evolution, then loosely connect it to real-life landmarks, cities, and geography to get an idea of how big the map is. I'm taking a look at areas in and around Florida, leaving enough speculative room for what that island could be. On top of that, I want to state a thesis on why I believe the map is real and give enough visuals for us to look at, and say if it's a fake, it's the most elaborate we've seen yet. This can also spinoff into tons of discussion regarding it. I was tempted to start a GTA VI Map thread similar to the RDR II one based on the findings I'll be publishing in the next few hours as it is going to be a long post, but I will only do that if there's enough support for it. We still can't confirm its legitimacy yet, though, and at the moment, the leaked map is close to all we have to speculate on in the GTA 6 Speculation & Discussion thread. So I'll post my findings here. Hoping to have it finished by the end of the day, if not sometime this week. That RDR II map absolutely blew away my belief that nothing that damning could come out from within Rockstar Games, and rather open my eyes to "what's real amongst the concentration of leaks?" I'm hoping we get to do that again with the GTA VI map when a trailer does come out.

I wouldn't be so sure of that. Smuggling between Miami and Cuban islands makes a lot more sense. Plus they're right next to each other, which makes geographical sense.

The only thing that ruined the dripfeed was knowing what was in the dripfeed. (and to be clear this is on rockstar)

After the Leslie Benzies situation, a lot of people left Rockstar, and they had reason to be unhappy with them, and we started to see more leaks than usual, which all were proven true. My view, is that this COULD be real, and if it is, it's likely another piece that leaked out in the wake of those events. But it's also something that if you're smart and talented enough, is very easy to fake.

Also I think I’ve said it before here but one of the things for me that gets mad hype for the update is the artwork for it, I’ve always loved the style

Luckily there’s some great games coming up shortly. Watch Dogs Legion, Assassins Creed Valhalla and Cyberpunk will sort me out for a bit.

While its true that things could be converted between engine versions and we even have some basic LC-fan-mods showing that its possible, the whole problem is that R* cant get away with that, copy-paste would be considered 'lazy' & would likely hurt the name of the franchise & company. And not only does GTA5/GTA:O have a higher quality graphics standard (read: half the map will require updated building-models, higher res textures, etc) they will have to actually update it to the 2017-2025ish timeframe of GTA:O ontop of that (spend boatload of money on 'scanning' NY again, more changes to the map) With all due respect to the people passionately working on the different graphics mods and LC converts, you really cant compare those to the quality people would expect from R* themselves, and that's exactly why revisiting LC would become a several year long roadmap, too big to just bolt onto an existing game. I'm sorry but a Liberty City addition is just too unlikely ---- Edit especially for @Waingro considering he misinterpreted my remark about me being 'lazy':

I think one potentially great direction for the next DLCs to go for is showing neighborhood changes. Just like the gentrifications efforts done in Los Angeles in the past few years and decades, several districts in Los Santos can also witness similar changes. The area near the Legion Square is a prime location for this change. It’s corresponding area in LA (near the Old Bank District) has gone through massive gentrification efforts recently and looks great. I believe such change will involve renovated buildings, possibly new buildings, more businesses, and massively decreased number of homeless people in that area......indeed, the world is not a friendly place for the poor (actually not really, gentrification can involve subsidized housing and low income housing).

this is how i think this heist update is going to work we are going to buy a yacht club or buy into one like the casino and players with a yacht will be able to dock at the yacht club players with out a yacht will have 2 options fly or take a fairy if they have a hanger with aircraft inside they can just fly to the island for free but if they will have to pay the fare to ride the fairy but i guess some of the cheap players myself being one of them just seal a plane and fly there there is an airport about the size of the sandy shores airfield but rockstar could make it bigger if the wish to as far as the heist we will be stealing something from a yacht first we could run a Piercy business stealing cargo from ships and other boats are running the goods back to LS to be sold

It´s been a long time since I posted any updates. It´s true I´ve been quite busy lately. But this weekend I had some free time, so I did a bit of modding. For the next pack, I will include a all-new tuning wheels pack, so a lot of to discover there We also started working on the Tornado And lastly, I found a guy who is making tuning parts for the Kanjo... But unfortunately he is doing the modding in Blender and doesn´t have any experience in 3ds Max. So this means the models are very high poly and wouldn´t fit our gta 4 poly style...

I made a quick updated version of the "map leak" So this is what we have so far, personally not so much of a fan of this design. I wish there was more to the Miami island, rather than making the same mistake that GTA V brought with the city being the only real focus point of the map. However, if this small island on the south west has been updated, hopefully the rest also has changed for the better.

The original map was posted online somewhat anonymously, in December 2018. CurryLav just hijacked it later in 2019.

Yeah, I'll be putting it all in this thread. Figure it'll give all of us something to speculate on until the next big thing. So far so good in what I've got, hoping to have a write up finished in the coming hours.

eh the rdr2 leak wasn't exactly an auteur's magnum opus either, there can be maps for a variety of reasons so I wouldn't discount anything based on that fact alone at this point

Likewise, I'm interested in what comes next for gaming in general really. From the new Xbox/PS to GTA and much more. Reading prices are going up, the growing reliance on remastering and re-releasing games and so on. Until these new machines are out and we see much more going forward, it's a crazy time.

Never thought i would say this... but I kinda miss the dripfeed in DLC'S

If modding fans could make countless graphics mods and particularly Open IV, I'm most certain R* can convert it for GTAO (if they haven't already) without any larger obstacles for their programmers. I imagine they would copy-and-paste a lot of things such as stores and maybe apartments and the likes as well, placing business hubs around one smaller zone like they've done around the docks in SA. The big question is how lucrative it would be, indeed. What would it cost to make it happen and how much would it generate back? No doubt it would keep players engaged and also bring back a lot of now absent old timers. They'd get their money back and then some, for sure. But I think they could actually charge a fee for it upfront as well, making even more money for them, because most of us hunger too much for a new location to not buy into it. If there's money to be made, shareholders will be the first to push for it. My bet why we haven't gotten it yet is probably due to console limitations and not production costs. Next gen will tell.
