If it is going to be a Catalina style island expansion, we need this I'm thinking Glory Hole Theme Park in an Anaheim style location as advertised in GTA:SA, since we have arcade games, ferris wheel, rollercoaster... all they need to do is add go karts and mini golf and it could work

I honestly don't think they need to test any waters with a map expansion. Surely they must realize (and have seen it for years) that after spending seven years in the same and mostly unchanged map, we're sick and tired of it. If not, then they're truly out of touch with its player/customer base and have no idea about creating longevity in an online game. A map expansion is likely the most welcome addition they could give us right now. However, as much as I want and hope for a map expansion, I do believe we won't get one until next gen when GTAO becomes its own stand-alone title. Adding a small map expansion such as Catalina island just feels like a dumb and unnecessary move IMO. It would probably add temporary excitement and satisfaction, but in the long run it would only feel like an extended arm of the same boring map we were already sick and tired of. If R* is gonna spend big money on developing something the size of a map expansion, they should do it properly. Something that comes with great future opportunities and not just more waste of space the game needs to render. Otherwise they should just touch up the already existing map. THIS. I believe one of the big problems with GTAO is that R* relies too much on us as players. They obviously expect us to engage way more with each other than we actually do (in friendly manners). All they care and focus on is sucking our wallets dry. I get it, it's their business model. But in designing the game that way they also create massive player egos. Everybody owns a nightclub, arcade or whatever, and they all want people to come to their place. Nobody cares about other players' facilities (obviously). Take the After Hours update, for instance. The greatest opportunity R* missed there was not giving us open access to non-players' clubs like the Tequi-La-La or Bahama Mamas. Places like those could have become meeting places for all players, perhaps with some mini games such as pool, dancing or drinking contests. Perhaps virtual concerts and other stuff to attend. Something like the Vanilla Unicorn but more interactive. Instead we got our own dead club with a crying Lazlow and a greedy Gay Tony.

I don't care if the Tigon comes in 2nd, but if it's in the lead when I vote, it's getting downvoted.

R* really don't have enough real content to support these months long drip feeds. I don't even think whatever comes for Halloween can prop the game up. December can't come soon enough.

That whole area just honks me off: cougar attacks, treasure map access headaches, slip and fall on terrain that gives no blooming indication whether you can climb/descend it safely or not... highly annoying and frustrating. Tall Trees area isn't much better--a few days I wandered around looking for a bear to skin for the daily, but none had spawned, so I figure I'll pick some herbs... one second into the "pick herb" animation, a bear spawns out of thin <expletive> air four freaking yards from me, and I get mauled because "R* animation lock." Sit on a harpoon, R*! Seriously. Spawning predators out of thin air in an area I've either just explored or right in front of me is just beyond <expletive> pathetic.

So, I think the "new location" is going to be some kind of small island, but personally I would like it to be an expansion to the north of the map like the one you can see in this paleto bay sign: even you can see the outline of the mountain that connects the land masses:

It's bad enough that you had to map the button to reload your guns to the same button used for melee attacks. But I'm riding on my horse in a running gun battle, my guns are down to 2 rounds, and there are no enemies even near me. Stop having my character futily kick their foot at thin air when all I want to do is reload my guns!

If you kill yourself, I count that as a kill for me. If you heist warp, that's a kill for me. If you leave the session before I do, I win. So many of these kids are so afraid to fight. They get one kill and can't face fighting one on one, they need backup. It's kinda laughable. EDIT: Next lobby I landed in, I killed a guy off radar and he heist warped to orbital me. I messaged him, telling to stop relying on orbital. Lets fight - no orbital, no off radar, no CEO. I actually managed to have a fun fight with the guy and friended him. Its funny what can happen when you meet someone who sees reason and knows that their initial impulse (ghost, orbital etc) is the wrong one and if they just resisted that, they might actually have fun.

That was what I was thinking too. They'd be better off loading the updates day 1 with all this stuff and then accepting that players will come and go with updates, instead of this trying to keep people interested every week with a paper thin dripfeed update.

seems like another lame week. when will they announce the halloween update? this naturalist stuff got old pretty quick. and i know its probably going to be a while till we get our next decent size dlc.

Yeah--95% of the time, R* endows their NPCs with invisibility to predators. So far, since playing RDO, I've only seen one(!) NPC in free roam actually attacked and killed by a predator (and one chased by wolves, but he got away easily--his horse didn't buck him off; imagine that!) The last time I ran into the "rescue woman from the alligators" in Blue Water Marsh, I didn't bother to save her--just waited for her to get chomped; and boy did it feel good to watch. I'm caring less and less for random encounters lately precisely because of this epic BS R* builds in. No special treatment, protection, or buffing for NPCs. Period.

As far as im aware Rockstar only said "Online takes place before SP" during development, once the games released they never mentioned this again (and eventually contradicted it) but a lot of things from SP were in MP on launch, things that didnt make sense story wise. (for example merryweather or michaels movie) so day1 it was already both, it was before SP (merryweather still exists in san andreas) but also after SP (michaels movie cant exist until after he made it in sp) As development on GTA:Online continued they sorta sped up its timeline so that it would just become 'Online takes place after SP', for example: - In the Gunrunning update with Agent14 he tells you (according to google during the "Mole Hunt" mission) that its 2017 (until that point the year was never mentioned ingame but said to be something like 2010) - In smugglers run they went "okay so SP ending was either B or C" and then in casino dlc they went "its C", neither of those would even be possible if Online still took place before SP, Online characters wouldnt be able to reference the endings of SP. - Have you taken a good look at vehicles lately? Not only do we have many cars of just the last 2-3 years in GTA:Online, what about all the futuristic stuff? flying bike/delorean/batmobiles/etc, no way its still meant to be 2013, i'd be surprized if by now they dont consider it something like 2030 - 2040.
