Noticed new variables added to the scripts that handle missions, adversary modes and such, two variables were added to the Actors/NPCs category that allows them to set any kind of animation on the actors, but in configurable manner, as in serves as an option in the creator mode to pick one animation out of the vast majority of animations available. What's worth noting is that said variables weren't used for the new yacht missions, which leads me to think that these variables are reserved for the next update, the new heist. In addition to that, a whole new category was added, called "interactables", which deals with objects or props, presumably configured to allow the devs to pick an object and appoint it as an interactable object, again same deal as the previous variables, weren't used for any of the new missions added with the recent update. Now, I'm a bit confused as to what's the necessity of all of this, mostly because I believe we already have some of that functionality, but in a more or less scripted manner. Regardless, I could think of one reason which may explain this, that is the new heist is too big to be handled in a scripted or hard-coded form. I mean, obviously, Rockstar calls it the biggest ever update, that aligns well with the reasoning I came up with. This new soft-coded functionality may give them the flexibility to deal with too many NPCs or actors, mainly for the ones of little importance, such as party goers and others who we may encounter in the new heist. EDIT: As for the "interactables" part, I would apply the same logic as the one I had for the NPCs, a vast space to stuffin with a range of interactable objects.15 points -

You know what, I would like to see the new heist with a similar setup to the Casino Heist, but the difference this time is that the heist crew is player-driven, you hire actual players as your gunman, driver and hacker. There should be a criteria when it comes to heist cuts that varies based on the player experience or assets, that way you can justify a cut demand. A new player with one or two crappy vehicles won't be the same as a high level player with a ton of cars. More importantly, you should be able to choose between setting up your heist with a strict rule like this or a free choice selection that allows you to apply whatever cut you see fit for the player.9 points -

IMO, there is nothing wrong with the lobbies. I actually think they work as intended now. Low populated, events spawning, missions starting properly, no disconnect fear much, overall a stable game with working content. Nothing wrong with that at all. Previously, I haven't seen a freeroam stranger in need in a long time, nor hideouts. Ran into several of them last evening. I actually had good fun in playing RDO again. Nothing wrong with the current lobbies at all.8 points -

If you get fed crap for a few years, slowly your standards will drop. Slowly you start to rationalize ways of getting what you want, at a compromise. As time goes, and nothing comes your way save for more crap, you start to accept larger and larger compromises, until eventually you totally acquiesce, and you'll do anything they want so long as you can have that one thing you've been wanting. I've always wanted solo lobbies for this game, but I will not acquiesce to get it. Again, I respect everyone on this thread, and I don't mean to offend anyone, but think deeply about what you are suggesting. I've been vocal about invite only lobbies since day one, I even made a thread on day one when I noticed the feature was lacking. I want the feature as much as all of you do, but this is not the way we go to get lobby options. Its a dangerous idea that needs to be put to bed.7 points -

It is remarkable how full of life RDO feels when the player count is this low. NPC's everywhere, animals everywhere, events popping, legendary animals actually spawning. The fact it's so jarringly noticeable tells a tale on the state of normal/intended RDO sessions.6 points -

I really hope that nothing is "wrong" and that these low population lobbies are something that is a deliberate implementation by R*. They are so much more stable, there are more NPC's, random events are plentiful and varied and the game is so much more immersive without constantly going into towns and encountering mass slaughters. My PS4 Pro is much quieter when in these low pop lobbies too, which is a bonus.6 points -

Another advantage of this low pop lobby: My PS4 Pro isn't trying to imitate a jumbo jet anymore. I suspect the lobby merging thing they came up with, has left the building for now. It may have put too much stress on data transfer and the console hardware. I'm a happy camper.6 points -

So the money / account wipes are coming in strong now. It's funny when people say "yeah Rockstar sucks because of this" and go on about "GTA being a dead game anyway" like the classic individuals who can't take any responsibility, but the funny thing is, I bet they'll run back if the end-of-year Heist update is decent, or if they decide to do map expansions... and for every player that drops the game, there's one or two others that are just getting it. I did read about some legit players being affected - obviously I don't know if that's just hearsay and they're suggesting they're "legit" to hold onto any hope of getting their stuff back... alas... I will say I'm a bit disappointed the God Mode glitchers are still allowed to run rampant. One of the (sad) reasons I often play this game in solo public sessions on PC is because I don't want some cheating arse teleport to me, blow my stuff up, then dip out of the game - with no chance to fight back because they're in God mode and / or using mods. So now people are dealing with that on consoles too - where it's not quite so easy to get your own (permanent) solo public session, like you can do with the firewall method on PC. I'd be willing to bet money that all of the "fix money glitches fast" directives come straight from Take 2, but it'd be nice for one of them to have a similar level of interest in sorting out THIS 'particularly console' issue too.6 points -

The system is bonkers. Someone can plough full speed into your Horse with theirs, send you flying, you get taken out of Defensive and then blasted with the Pump Action shotgun while you get up and they get no penalties while you get removed from Defensive and get Hostility points.6 points -

dont agree with much of the criticism when it comes to changing the story at all, and significantly prefer the new cast to the old in just about every way. there's significantly more naturalism in the delivery, the dialogue is actually good instead of wooden poorly-translated czech, pretty much every character is actually a character instead of being a generic wiseguy with maybe one or two traits that make them stand out. paulie seems to be getting a lot of sh*t which legitimately surprised me - in the original he was supposed to be the tommy devito, joe pesci-style abrasive gangster but it literally never showed in any part of the game. in the remake he's a squawky little prick: he's far more of a real gangster than any character in the original. he's fun to his friends and has a lot of chemistry and all the same is a vindictive little cocksucker. him being less likable is not a bad thing. he has an actual personality now instead of being typecast as 'one of tommy's pals'. the same goes for sam - who in the original had like two traits (goofy blue bowtie and he was an asshole at the end) and some really lame clinical delivery from agent dwight harris. sam and paulie actually bounce off each other in the new footage whereas in the original i can scarcely recall many scenes where they had any dialogue together at all. across the board everything is more nuanced and interesting. even with the 30's chicago setting it's just more fleshed out and present than the distant maybe-nyc-maybe-chicago of the original (i got a kick out of salieri's "da bears" southside chicago dialect and frank being 100% a sicilian zip). even with tommy's new va. this one i understand since he's the center of it all but it all seems to come down to him having more agency in the plot and sounding a little rougher. he's inducted into the family by chance all the same but he's a hard working blue collar guy - of course he's going to sound like hes from the streets. being a straight lace person doesnt mean you suddenly sound 'proper', the wiseguy accent was never restricted to just gangsters. the guy used to drink bathtub gin and talks about buying coats for his ma. when he's driving the cab he's legitimately intimidated and proves to salieri he's worth being involved by wanting to enact revenge on the guys himself. he isnt just made a member of the family after running to the bar and a cutscene of him drinking with all the fellas, it's a much more involved process for every character and he's not just ferried into a place of prominence. when you're in the life you've got to take it. the tommy angelo of the original was just a contradictory player analogue that simultaneously was the victim of the criminal lifestyle but was also a willing participant for 10 years (even after making enough cash to live comfortably). here he's a victim of poverty who worked a crummy job and, like a lot of guys, saw the camaraderie of a code that ended up being a lie6 points -

Totally agree. It's rare to see a community so friendly to each other. There are assholes of course but in my view they make up the exceptions. I like to be in offensive because I like the uncertainty, and it keeps me on my toes, but I never look for trouble. It's cool that there's always a possibility that someone will turn on you, but we as players are making that choice and the choice carries weight. You pick a fight, you better be prepared for a fight. It's like RDO actually is inhabited by real people, whereas in GTAO every player in a public session might as well be called "aimbot1429". Haven't been on much lately though, but I definitely will be at some point. EDIT: I just realized this is the B&M thread, and I made a Gasp&Praise instead, lol. Oh well.6 points -

I don't think I've ever used this much ammo on free roam spawning events. Hideout here, moonshiner blockade next, another hideout, poachers, live everywhere. And most important of all, the game just runs smoothly and doesn't overheat my console anymore.5 points -

Just my opinion, not meant to offend anyone, but why are people still pushing the idea of paywalling solo lobbies? Its a QoL feature, and locking it behind a paywall is just wrong. Don't give R* ideas people. They don't need any incentive to add it beyond the fact that its a needed feature. Remember, if we give them an inch, they take the arm. Paywalling features like this is a slippery slope to nowhere good. I get that the logic behind it is that R* wouldn't add it unless they could make money off it, and perhaps that may be true, but still, why are we giving them the green light to do something like that? Its just plain wrong to charge for something the game so desperately needs. Edit: I'd seriously rather never get solo lobbies, than have to pay for them, for no other reason than the dangerous precedent that paywalling QoL sets. The game is already plenty monetized.5 points -

I was in Strawberry, buying provisions and supplies from the store after selling some moonshine. I stopped by the doctor’s office to use jeanropke and set point markers on my map for carribean rum and creek plum. In a session of 6 people, and a map of this gargantuan size, I had the displeasure of a player within my proximity making his obnoxious presence known. I heard some of the sound effects that happen when you bump into people and horses, so I exited the map, and it was the player running his horse into mine. I’ll tell you why in a second. He was a typical juvenile sh*tter. More than a hundred levels below mine, dressed like a furry, and he had an arabian horse in one of those edgy skull masks. His fursuit was the black ram with crimson horns, too. He saw the cougar stowed on my horse, and he wanted it badly, and he successfully knocked my horse down the moment I exited the map, but he got knocked off as well and his horse ran into the creek below the bridge. Well, I stowed the cougar quickly back on my horse, and one of the rabbits, but he stole the other rabbit and tried to make a run for it, though he slipped into the creek and lost the rabbit. I got on my horse, pulled my shotgun, and killed him when he was cowering on the river bank to whistle for his horse, all before I fast traveled back to my camp. I don’t get why I’m punished for retaliating against an offender. Fursuiters are scum and shouldn’t be allowed to be in Defensive mode.5 points -

I don't get many comments about weight, but the bad guys call my boy "pretty boy" a lot and they make lewd comments from time to time. Lol! Mainly stuff like that comes from the Skinner brothers or the Murfree brood. Had one say something a while back and it was bad enough I needed a safe space to talk about my feelings. This picture needs an explanation. First off, my husband needed a picture of a cougar so I decided I would be bait to lure that darn thing out for the photo op, and being near water I figured. Hey kitties don't care for the water a whole lot, right? Yeah I forgot to take into consideration that the rule only works for domestic cats. So if you look closely, you can see my Ruvik being dragged out of the water by a very angry cat. Must have been absolutely ticked off with me for playing tag with him for a few minutes before this picture was taken. On a positive note, my husband got credit for the photo. And after chasing after the tatanka buffalo and getting our samples, he was absolutely gorgeous by the way, we decided to set up a small camp and relax for a moment. Lol, it doesn't take much! But I love that picture.5 points -

I just logged in for another session about 20 minutes ago. In those 20 minutes I've encounter, no joking, 1 save stranger mission to Thieves Landing, a moonshine roadblock at the bridge and the hideout at Quaker's Cove, one right after another. In an earlier session, again low populated, I traveled from the Great Plains to Fort Mercer for the daily challenge. Along the way there, I ran into 3 moonshiner FR events, completing me the daily for that profession and looted enough stuff to complete 2 Collector's challenges. Corpses don't despawn in low pop lobbies and when I got to Fort Mercer, the hideout there triggered. This is how the game should be running and I'd pay a monthly fee if we'd ever get the choice. Not gonna pay more than 2,99 a month for it, though. But the way the game runs in a low pop lobby is simply bliss. And this proves everything we already knew before. This game just doesn't run well in higher populated lobbies.4 points -

Yeah, oddly enough, as someone who spent hundreds of hours in solo public lobbies in GTAO I actually don't mind being in a 20+ player lobby in RDO, but I do want and expect the game to work properly and have the full amount of content available at all times. The truth is, and this will be clear to anyone who has played in both high and low population lobbies, that the game isn't stable and the full range of content isn't available when in a high population lobby. So, given the choice, I'd far rather be in a lobby with less players.4 points -

That is when it was officially revealed. But people had suspected it since the first trailer. Even after the GTA IV DLC, there were theories. Hence why older heads know it's going to be a long wait, and why someone like myself isn't really fazed by it. When GTA VI is announced, there's a 99% chance this will repeat again. I remember when RDR2 was announced I didn't even bother checking in regularly, because I knew they wouldn't say anything for a year.4 points -

It’s also worth noting that on the days when the daily challenges involve an FRE, the calibre of players in FRE’s decreases drastically - there are clearly a lot of players in there who aren’t used to it, and probably would prefer not to be there4 points -

I just had probably the worst heist I have ever had doing the aggressive approach with a level 133 and a 19. First we entered through the staff door and after clearing some enemies I made it to the basement but after 5 minutes of waiting I had to go back and find both of my team mates and direct them to the elevator. Then the two of them tried to open the door but somehow kept failing with the keypads until I took over for one of them and we finally did it. We finally make it to the vault and both of them ignore the cash and start drilling boxes and we end up leaving the vault with 200k. On the way to the getaway cars one of them dies but sh*t happens and they end up getting a car each while I stole a cop car. We finally make it to Paleto Bay and all that's left to do is to lose wanted levels but one of them gets out of the upgraded cars with bulletproof tyres and tries to steal a cop car and dies and fails and then both of these idiots press continue and I am thrown back to freemode with an hour wasted and nothing to show for it. These are two of the worst GTA players I have met I don't know how someone so f*cking stupid made it to level 133. I can do this whole f*cking heist solo just let me do it without idiots.4 points -

That's just beyond pathetic. It's fine to dislike his act but come on now. Journalists will praise it based on the gameplay I have seen. Of course I haven't experienced the controls for myself but it has plenty of options to tweak so it can be accessible or it can give you a good challenge. Plus it even has a trip skip option which will surely be appreciated by those who aren't fond of driving. It's really just up to how well they like the story and the gunplay. I don't think they will praise it as GOTY but it will be worth a solid 8/10 for them4 points -

I know that folk are excited and want to speculate on what island we're getting, the size of it, whether we can buy mansions on it etc, but I do feel that folk need to come down a bit and stop setting themselves up for disappointment if your guess comes to fruition. I'd love a new island as much as anyone. f*ck, give us 3! But I'd rather be realistic / pessimistic. Maybe I'm getting old and this is what happens.
