I designed a quick concept map of what a Catalina Island expansion may look like. In fact I think even this would be too large if we ever got something like this but whatever. I really liked CommanderBlack’s idea of naming the island after Claude so here’s St. Claude Island.

Another one for the book... When the bloody hell are we going to be able to use the Mechanic to transfer vehicles between properties or when are they gonna update the vehicle management menu? Just a simple little change could make the dream work. Okay I got the font sizes wrong, sue me. That garage needs some life in it now...

My 2 cents on how we got here: - The "the biggest ever update for GTA Online, featuring our latest take on Heists in an entirely new location" line is interpreted by many as "MAP EXPANSION" - Half the people that make that assumption somehow seem(ed) to think we're getting LC, then a bunch of people explained why that would be crazy (the amount of time it would take, install size, etc etc) - Somebody coined the idea of Catalina Island "small island off of the coast, exists in real world, would be the perfect spot to finally add those elusive villa's, etc" - Everybody started screaming, modmins started modifying the subforum thumbnail a bunch of times to fuel this idea - Here we are with "1000% sure we're getting a whole new f-ing island because we said so" while realistically we have nothing to go on at all besides the usual wishful thinking and speculation, but thats why this is the speculation thread At any rate i'll be more inclined to believe the Catalina Island angle vs the "oh they're going to bolt the entirety of LC onto this"-angle, but honestly we might've gone 'off the tracks' at the very start of this already, its R* we are talking about, and technically the last few dlc each introduced an 'entirely new location', i feel like way to many people are getting their hopes up way too far, yes i would love Catalina island or something similar just as much as the next person, but be honest to yourself guys, what actually are the chances of that happening? 10-20%? at most.

    GTA 6 Speculation & Discussion [Part 4]

I have no idea. It's what Rockstar like to do right? Simulate the world and make is as realistic, yet fun as possible. They like to have that balance. But at the same time GTA is a different kind of game to RDR. So they may tip towards a more fun approach, over realism. RDR2 might have cores, and a need to sleep, eat and rest. but GTA might not include those features. Just a guess, really. But it fits the themes of the games. RDR2 is about surviving in the wilderness, to an extent. Not as a full on survival game, of course. Because I grew up? lol I was 20 when I joined here. And looking back at my first posts, I was a dumb immature kid. As you get older, you learn through experience to temper expectations and look at things rationally. Kind of learn to take a step back and look at the bigger picture, rather than getting excited and carried away. Hype often leads to a bigger cliff to fall off. But I also miss the GTA series, and I want something to be excited about, so I'm looking forward to the next game, but I want to look at things 'realistically', and try to actually get somewhere with analysis and leak discussion/discoveries. I think I have the view of "If you're going to do something, do it right"

Harrietum Officinalis is the name of the plant that I believe you have to find and collect flowers from, which is necessary for the Vitalism Studies Pamphlets that transforms you into one of the few animals. Each animal requires a Vitalism Studies Pamphlet (which costs gold) that you have to study to pinpoint one or several locations in which the essence of the animal is strong, then you consume samples of Harrietum Officinalis at said location to transform into the specific animal.

Look, I know what you meant and I made the same point as you (in a different context) in another post before as you but I felt you took my point differently as intended. My point is that police officers in the U.S have a threat to their lives and statistically more of a threat of being killed because of their chosen profession than an an unarmed black man has. Based on the reported numbers, that's a statistical fact. I also stated for context that the US is the most armed population in world. I previously mistakenly said there are more guns that people. I was wrong. But there are 90 weapons per 100 people in the U.S. The US is most armed population in the world. So it's not a far stretch to assume policing the most armed population in the world is going to be a challenge. And for any officer working in the field, incidences like them interacting in circumstances like the Jacob Blake case are going to be messy and even tragic. And it's not unique to the black community either. By that I mean, police violence against each community is pretty consistent. Yes, people choose to be cops. They choose to enter a profession where they have to engage with a highly armed populous on a daily basis. People have to work. People need jobs. There will always be cops. So I think it's unfair that you are characterizing my point as some false equivalence. I'm not playing some oppression Olympics sport between cops and American black men. I'm merely pointing out the heightened state of fear a cop could be in situations like Jacob Blake's case because they deal with a highly armed and dangerous population. Absolutely disagree with you here. You can't have a valuable input because you aren't there? You might not know everything but we live an information age. If you wanted to know anything you can speak to anyone in a second online, on Twitter, on YouTube, Google Maps, blogs, news outlets, documentaries online, books on Amazon. You can check Google trends and find trending search words of each nation and each hash tag on Twitter. Now, more than ever we have information on any other nation we want at our fingertips. And why are they "bulsh*t articles." Why are you downplaying the articles. Why didn't you say "informative, well-written articles?" Interesting choice of words to make your point. But the argument is "valuable input." So, your input would be worth less than a European on European affairs even if that European wasn't interested in politics or current affairs? Are you saying you regard all your input as not being valuable because you don't live there? And if it's because you don't live there, what are the metrics that of living somewhere which you measure someone's knowledge of a given topic? So someone living there 1 year? Is there input more valuable? Is someone's input more valuable if they lived there 20 years but has not much interest in current affairs than say someone that's only lived their a year but studies current affairs topics religiously? I try judge the merits of the argument. Is there data to back up the the points being made? Is there sufficient evidence to support the person's argument? When giving opinion, are they presenting as opinion or are they trying to present opinion as facts. I try not to think of the persons colour of their skin and their location when being presented with an argument. It might give me some bias, I admit, but the quality of the argument should be what us under scrutiny, not the person. I'm not disagreeing that local people will have an advantage when it comes first hand and local knowledge. OK? We agree on that. But to say you can't "valuable input" is untrue, in my opinion. And by your own logic, anyone that isn't American and/or black, can't have valuable input. Which I believe is wrong because in my opinion outsiders can look at a problem more objectively, especially as they have no dog in the race, so to speak. If I was in a situation that dealt with bad policing, possibly racially biased policing, police brutality and black population, I might value the opinion of someone not tied to the police, not tied to the country, that isn't racist and has access to statistics.

I'm generally curious as to why Rockstar didn't think of any sort of motivation to increase activity rates with Harriet once almost everyone reach level 20. It's kinda obvious that with her intolerable attitude and strict rules, players would start moving over to Gus side and dismiss her pleas for wildlife conservation. They did plan out a similar piece of content, which is Harrietum Officinalis, that shall function the same as peyote plants, but it's reserved for a limited time event, thus it shouldn't be taken into the main equation. Heck, I would settle for a dozen of vouchers as gifts for your efforts.

I mean, I like having a good number of other players in a session to potentially liven it up, but I like a reasonable spawn rate for animals/NPCs/events as well. It sucks that we can't seem to have both. Since we can only see nearby players and it isn't uncommon to be all alone for hours even in full sessions, if I have to choose, I'll take the low player count.

Well they're working on GTA VI as they're updating RD Online. Sometimes files and assets can be left behind in the engine, or somehow just end up there. I don't know the full details, but it's possible. For example, say they're working on weather systems in GTA VI, and another developer is working on tweaking the weather in RD Online, then maybe some of the files reference something related to GTA VI. But we only know about it because it was leaked over 2 years ago. Otherwise the name wouldn't mean much to us. Back in 2012, GTA V vehicle names were found in Max Payne 3 files. Found it, page 398 Basically, at times the physics could lead to situations where the players character was falling or stumbling, and they would naturally try to correct themselves, leading to a (almost) never ending cycle of falling and correction. Have you ever tripped, and tried to stop yourself falling, but then you just kinda' speed up and end up almost running then falling faster? It's kinda' like that, but slower.

It's not laziness. Think about it, if they removed them, or downgraded them, then that's extra work they have to do. Which is the exact opposite of laziness. no offense, but whenever people use the term laziness it just stinks of childish ignorance. It's a topic that's talked about very often. I gave my reasons for why they may have changed them. If I can find the post I'll link it. Tl;Dr the physics in GTA IV, while fun, they could lead to a loss of control. GTA V seemed to tighten them up and keep the player in control more often.

This is your typical "you're either this or that camp and all middle ground is illusory" dumbthink that has poisoned people's brains. Yes, I guess? I mean, yesterday I saw someone post "well Jacob Blake was arrested for sexual assault and such and such so I won't weep for a bad person being shot at point blank", and I consider this a fundamentally f*cked up line of thought, where we become "glad" when something bad happens to a "bad person". The whole police shooting discussion is complicated, and I think Mister Pink makes many of the reasonable points others don't have the guts to make, because mindlessly boarding the woke train is much easier and more convenient. So I respect Mister Pink for doing this, because it is not out of self interest, but out of integrity. Police officers definitely are under massive stress and danger continually. Imagine having to do that job. It's horror. And the respect for it has been completely taken away as well. And we can also say out loud that if you steal an officer's taser and attack him with it you are a complete f*cking moron that is close to deserving to be shot. I wouldn't say you are deserving to get shot in that case, because then I'm joining the online herd celebrating violence, but clearly if you steal an officer's taser and attack him with it you are a complete f*cking moron.

I definitely wanted a bird to be one of the pamphlets, didn't really care which type of bird, would just have been cool to experience flying around the map. I'm really surprised R* have gone in such a tame direction, I thought for sure at least one pamphlet would be a Grizzly/Cougar/Panther/Wolf. I really don't see the appeal in spending 10 gold bars or whatever to scurry around a limited area, for a limited time, as an Opossum. We've all known since Beta that 15ish seemed to be the sweet spot which gives the best of both worlds, not going to happen though, unfortunately.

There's obviously a police issue in the USA. And, what I believe is a heightened state of threat. When you police a nation where there are more guns than people, it's easy to shoot first and as questions later, especially when you don't comply with a cop who's pointing a gun at you and you ignore them and reach in to your car. What does one expect to come of that situation. Take race out of it for a moment. You have one human being, not complying with cops, pointing a gun at you and that person disregards what they say and proceeds to get into open the door of their car. Quite frankly, I would be shocked if that didn't end violently. And now I'm going say something that wont put me in favour with people. Imagine the fear a cop is in, during riots and the last recourse you have to make someone comply is, and to try neutralize this escalating is to point a gun and shout commands which are being blatantly ignored. Whatever you think of cops, but I think most people wouldn't argue with a cop pointing a gun, unless they had death-wish. What was that personal protest about? He broke free from the cops. What was Blake's expectation of the outcome of this? I'm not advocating for violence us by police. I'm not defending how police do their job. I'm criticizing Blake. I'm criticizing the police could have tazed him. But opted for gunfire perhaps because they probably thought he was going for a gun. I can only imagine in a split second how I might react that when pointing a gun at someone and asking them to "get down" and they don't give a f*ck.. i would think to myself... f*ck.. this guy doesn't a give a sh*t and it looks like he's going for something in his car. What do you do? Do you wait around to find out? I don't think I would. Statistically speaking, between black Americans and police, a cop is more at risk a being shot on the job than a unarmed black man is. There are just under 700,000 thousand LEA in the USA. In 2019, 48 of them died on the job the due to felonious acts. In the same year, 13 unarmed black men where shot by police of a black population of 42, 000,000! 13 too man if you ask me but guys like Jacob Blake will be added to that statistic. Guys where there's a situation going down and police either fear for their lives or the lives of civilians or whatever and shoot. And mainstream media isn't helping either. The Guardian would rather run sensationalist headlines like this "Young black men killed by US police at highest rate in year of 1,134 deaths" to arouse anger. Factually the headline is true. And to The Guardian's credit, they will mentioned a breakdown of some of incidences surrounding the shootings such as 160 cases of people refusing to drop a weapon when confronted with police. But more interestingly while people like to tout black Americans being over represented in deaths by police, they fail to report on black Americans being over-represented in the crime statistics. Did The Guardian check whether crime was up in 2015? But a cursory Google search that I did as I'm typing this. I literally just checked now and violent crime was up 3.1% compared to 2014. Source - FBI crime statistics. The language some of the MSM is using is very sympathetic to people burning cars. They use language like "cars catch fire." Instead of "rioters burned cars." Look at this Daily Mail headline for video. "Jacob Blake: Dozens of cars on fire in Wisconsin after racially-charged police shooting in Kenosha" And lets read the description. Dozens of cars catch fire after during protests in Wisconsin in the US. Officers deploy tear gas in an effort to disperse hundreds of people who took to the streets following a police shooting where Jacob Blake, a 29-year-old black man, was shot in the back at least seven times by a white police officer in Kenosha on Sunday. Blake is in serious condition in a Milwaukee hospital. So they just "catch on fire." OK. And the most important thing about this story is a BLACK man shot by WHITE police officer. They want to you to infer racism. Because he was "unarmed." But what really happened? Another video title from The Sun "Unarmed black father, Jacob Blake, shot by Wisconsin police." See how sympathetic to the title is. It's factual but it's what they chose to include in the headlined and what they chose to leave out which makes it sympathetic. Nothing to do with him being uncompliant and walking way. Instead "Father" is included to give us an emotional attachment and reference. What does him being a father have anything to do with the incident? It's purely there to pull on heart strings. So they just "catch on fire." OK. And the most important thing about this story is a BLACK man shot by WHITE police officer. They want to you to infer racism. Because he was "unarmed." But what really happened? You could write this same headline and it still be factual. "Non compliant man tries to escape police but not without reaching into his car window for something gets shot 7 times." OK, it's not as sexy. This why I ignore most mainstream media. It's amoral but not apolitical, race-baiting, click-bait, bubblegum for the brain. Again, I feel like in this day and age you have to put a disclaimer on everything when you try present evidence against some of hysteria and mainstream media narrative. I'm not advocating for police violence. Nor am I denying possible racial bias among ranking cops. I'm not denying the fact there is a possible problem in how policing is done in the USA or the struggle of racial minorities. It's my opinion from the video that Blake acted in poor judgement that led to an escalation in violence. And I think people like L'bron James need to start picking and choosing battles more clearly and stop defending people that make poor decisions and just blame it on cops. There's only so much the incompetence that we can attribute to the police but we have to draw the line somewhere. People have to start taking responsibility for their actions. Be compliant. Say nothing to the police. And ask for attorney.

I’m glad they finally added a new Sighting mission, but I don’t like that they made it so short compared to the other missions. I mean, it takes about three minutes to complete it. The mission should’ve had us go in a boat to try and find the Banded Gator, and then when it surfaces, we have to race back to shore before it sinks the boat, similar to when you encounter the Bull Gator during the story. A real missed opportunity. I hope they put more effort into the other Sighting missions.
