We have been waiting for an update for 7 months and we are all keeping an open mind until tomorrow. It is safe to safe most people here are hyped and curious to see what happens tomorrow. If you are only here to talk sh*t about RDO and burst our bubble you are not welcome here. If you're a GTAO fan by all means enjoy GTAO, they have a speculation thread as well, why don't you go share your excitement with them for the next update. I am sure like myself most people here play both games but we are bigger fans of RDO which is why we are active members of this community. Today is not the day to try and troll us lol because this is our week, please let us enjoy it!11 points -

I agree, this may be a bit obvious, but the big tease must have been an intentional reveal, to lessen the backlash if only the summer update is announced, amid the info drought. It's a success since everyone is talking about it, but I'm sure people would want a bit more info, in the near future, to fuel up the speculation as we draw closer to release.11 points -

Exactly. In 7 years of updates they literally never said that before. They wouldn't say entirely new location if they didn't mean entirely new location. For example: Arcades - "In order to plan the biggest Heist ever perpetrated in Los Santos, Heist crew leaders will setup an unexpected new commercial venture as a front, a retro Arcade business property" Casino - "Today marks the grand opening of The Diamond Casino & Resort, a sprawling entertainment and luxury living complex conveniently located in Vinewood and open to all citizens of Southern San Andreas" AfterHours - "Get your venture off the ground with some help from the legendary Tony Prince" GunRunning - "Your career as a prolific arms dealer begins with the acquisition of a Bunker" DDH - "First, one member of your crew needs to own one of the previously undisclosed IAA facilities hidden under Southern San Andreas" SmugglersRun - "Customizable Hangar properties are the center for your new smuggling ring" CEO - "in partnership with SecuroServ, now have a new line of deluxe office suites specifically for the motivated career criminal." ^ Everything in here is a "new location" but nothing was even close to implying that we might be getting an entirely new place. They know that misleading people would mean bad PR, thats why they never did that before. They choose their words wisely. Also I checked how they translated that recent newswire post in other languages (cause that sometimes helped us before. If you speak another language - you should check it as well). And it always translates back to something like "biggest update so far that will include a heist in an entirely new place". So yeah, another synonym but it still sounds like we are getting a new place we haven't seen before. Worst case scenerio? New building that wasn't there before (huge mansion in the hills, cruise ship etc). Best case scenerio? New island or Liberty City. I'm usually very critical of R* but I just can't see them using "an entirely new location" just to hype up a regular old building like Mile High Club.11 points -

I think a good little edition for VI is seatbelts in vehicles. When you enter a vehicle, if you don’t use the throttle pedal (R2) immediately, and wait 2 seconds you automatically put on a seatbelt. (Kind of like how you wait to put on a motorbike helmet). This would mean when you crash you only lose a little bit of health and head on collisions won’t result in you going through the windscreen.11 points -

What @_Ziolek_ said A map expansion would make little to no sense in terms of the (already messy-as-sh*t) lore of the game. Not impossible, but is so extremely unlikely that I'll bet you a Megalodon Fishcard. If, and this is a big if, they decide to add an island expansion to the game, it will be an artificial island, and not something "natural". North Yankton and Liberty City are just piping dreams. NY was made for two SP missions, and is hella "unfinished" and riddled with missing/transparent textures - and as open-world as GTA Online is, this can't fly. Liberty City... If I was the programmer tasked to import that to GTA V, I would demand a raise. All that work to make... all the dynamic props... all the traffic patterns... it would be a living nightmare. ...That said, I know modders have already imported LC to GTA V, but to make the map stable and work with GTAO is... challenging. And with my 2mb/s internet, I'd have it downloaded to my system when y'all be playing GTA 7 Electric Bogaloo9 points -

They've had multiple chances to nerf the Collector, and already have once. Like Raige basically said, the Collector doesn't make gold and thus doesn't hurt their monetisation as they can put things, and do, behind gold bars exclusively which they started doing more with the Frontier Pursuits and Moonshiners update. I don't see them touching payouts to be honest, they may mess with spawns again but I do think that if they do nerf the role they'll nerf the exp it rewards, particularly the set bonus rewards.8 points -

Bliss and 7 others reacted to Gray-Hand for a topic
Okay, let’s deal with this point by point. Missing the point I think I understand the point you are trying to make - you say R* is acting unreasonably By setting a price of 25 gold to access to new content. You say this is unreasonable both because that price is too high and that there should be no price for content in any event. That view is invalid, for several reasons: 1. Content is a product/service that is worth paying for. That is why we are prepared to pay money for video games in the first place. The idea that computer games should be free is strange and unsustainable. 2. 25 gold is a pretty low bar to entry. Gold is free and easy to obtain just by playing the game. Look at the dailies for 26 July 2020 - there are at least half a dozen that can be completed with a minimum of effort. - catch 3 Steelhead Trout - get drunk. - visit a shop in strawberry. - eat 3 camp stews. - visit the peak of Mt Hagen. - pick 5 wild feverview. 2 of those can be done without Even leaving camp. 2 of them can be done by doing little more than taking your horse for a ride. Then there are several other dailies that any one playing as a trader would get just in the course of ordinary play. - deliver 6 perfect carcasses to Cripps. - moonshine sold with 5 minutes remaining. - make $200 from trading. That’s an easy 1.8 gold without being on a streak and not even taking into account bounty hunting and collector dailies. 3. 25 gold is really cheap to buy with real money. $7.00 last time I checked. It’s pocket change. In what world is this an unreasonable, exploitative amount to expect people to pay for an expansion of an otherwise free game? It’s not like we are paying a monthly subscription or anything. Other people share your view Your “agenda” (your emphasis) about R* overmonetising RDO is indeed a big part of your persona on these forums. You post about it a lot, along with lots of complaints about griefers. Both are at odds with the reality of the game. Griefing is rare in RDO and there is no pressure to buy gold. It is true that there are some other posters who echo to each other their belief that they are entitled to be provided with free video game content because they bizarrely equate their playing of a game provided to them for free as labour that must be rewarded. This is of course not true. They have been provided with a free game that they have played for dozens if not hundreds of hours and they refuse to reciprocate that benefit by making any payment. Not only do they refuse to to pay, they also denounce the vey idea of it. They liken R* to a drug dealer. Their sense of entitlement is breathtaking. You don’t do yourself any favours by lining up alongside them. Rockstar are unreasonably locking content behind a paywall This is invalid for several reasons: 1. Gold is free and easy to come by just by playing the game. So it isn’t even a paywall. 2. For anyone who does want to pay real money instead of accumulating gold by playing, the cost of gold is very cheap. 25 gold is $7.00. 55 gold is $20 and that is enough for 3 updates in a year. Pocket change. Not that you would need it after buying that first profession. Entry into a profession should be free, but upgrades should cost gold 1. Content is a product that is costly to develop and hard to do well. There is nothing inappropriate with charging for that. That’s how the world works. 2. RDO is specifically designed so that upgrades don’t cost gold. If actual upgrades cost gold, that would mean that the people who pay real money would have an advantage over those who just play the game. RDO would be pay-to-win. If the game was designed that way, you would be the first person denouncing R* for doing it. Come on. Second premium currency means the game is overmonetised You are way off base here. The second premium currency cannot be purchased with real money. It stops people with lots of gold purchasing everything immediately. It actively works to prevent people from buying gold to get everything without having to earn it by playing the game. A daily streak takes 20 hours of gameplay Err ... no it doesn’t. That’s flat out wrong. To earn bonus gold, all it takes is being able to complete 1 daily 7 days in a row. Most days, there is a daily that can be completed without even leaving your camp. Generally there will be at least 5 dailies that can each be completed in 5 minutes or so. A 28 day streak can easily be maintained by logging in for 5 minutes or less every day. Lots of people have been doing just that in recent months. You also talk about some people only having 20 hours to play RDO every week. Anyone who plays 20 hours of RDO per week will easily have all the gold they need to access future content. I average less than a third of that and I am level 199 with more than $20k and Over 180 gold bars. I paid the $7.00 for 25 gold bars when frontier pursuits came out. I have 4 horses with upgraded saddles, all the best ability cards at level 3, all the clothes I want, fully upgraded camp and moonshine shack, all the pamphlets, nearly every gun with 12 of them fully upgraded and personalised. I was on a streak for 52 days at one stage, another one at about 30 days and maybe a few other times I got past 7 days. I spend most of my time playing as a trader/moonshiner. Making RDO$ and gold is not hard. Your perception of: 1. How hard it is to make gold; 2. How expensive gold is to purchase; and 3. How blue tokens work; is completely divorced from reality. Coupled with your other regular complaints of being constantly attacked by griefers, it seems like you have this deeply ingrained impression of RDO being a cynically overmonetised, griefer’s paradise Wild West version of GTAO. It just isn’t.8 points -

It all depends on what they drip feed for me. I didn't mind it so much with the legendary bounties, but drip feeding cosmetics just seems lame. Overall I'm not a fan of drip feeding, it just seems like an artificial way of making an update seem bigger than it is. I'd much prefer R* to release updates that are so packed with content that there's no way even the most hardcore no lifers could rip through it all in 2 days as opposed to releasing a hand full of clothing items one week, a horse and a gun the next, skip a week, a new showdown mode the next etc.8 points -

Just had a thought. The car they showed is a DeTomaso P72, which is heavily inspired by 60s racing cars. What if it’s a hint of a racing-themed update? What if they update the Redwood Lights track to be a legitimate motorsports complex? And the F1 races from earlier in the year were a hint of that? They could make something that’s a scaled down parody of Laguna Seca, Irwindale Speedway, a kart circuit, a dragstrip, and a motocross circuit there. Could make the road circuit the outside perimeter of the facility, a ¼ mile oval and kart circuit in the infield, a ⅛ mile dragstrip on that perimeter road to the north, and the MotoX track built into the hills to the east and south. If you want a sense of scale, the ULSA track & field circuit is about 400m, or a quarter mile. All of this stuff could easily fit in that area, with just a little spillover into the unused field to the south and east. The Casino could’ve been a trial run to more major map changes, and the only bits of the Redwood Lights track used for anything are a few freemode ‘kill guys in X area’ missions and a race from the original launch. So it wouldn’t be a gamebreaker. Honestly more just a fantasy rather than a realistic theory. Still would love it7 points -

No you don't. I am trying really hard not be condescending or sarcastic because that's frowned upon. What I am trying to say is that the system R* has implemented is backward and anti-player. The meat, the main part, of the Update is barred off by a pay wall immediately. This is wrong, because we have two currencies we can have a better system. Unlike GTAO where it is just GTA fun dollars we have Dollars and Gold, the ENTIRE Role should not be locked behind a Gold paywall, UPGRADES should be locked behind the paywall. If people want to writhe in the mud and never buy Upgrades then so be it but the entire Role should not be locked behind the Gold paywall. That's fine but it's a one time only deal and there are five Roles now. The price is beside the point. Please, listen and understand, I am NOT saying that R* should not charge for the Role. I am saying that locking the ENTIRE Role behind a Gold paywall is bad. My "persona" on these forums is neither here nor there. I am as free as you to present myself however I wish as long as it remains in the rules. My opinions on matters are no more or less valid than yours. Yes they are, see above. I never said it should be free, if that is what you have assumed from my posts then thats on you. I said it should not cost as much Gold. Upgrades should be the money sink. Perhaps I should have been more clear. (Trying really hard not be sarcastic). To earn the 0.5 Gold per daily takes twenty hours. That's the best way to make serious Gold. Even logging on for five minutes and doing one Daily a day it would take you (obviously) twenty one days. Unless you buy in to Bounty hunting you need to log on daily to make Gold for the other Roles. Excuse me? I have in all the time I have posted on here mentioned being attacked by griefers perhaps less than ten times, I actively go out of my way to avoid PvP. I have joined in with discussions about them or shared my sometimes abrasive views on them but it is not regular nor constant. But this is all pointless, you have drawn me into whatever this is when it serves to benefit to the topic or the forum so it will be left here. If you don't like what I write then so be it but don't call into question my character or claim that I put up a "persona" on here. What you see is what you get, don't like it then ignore me. The idea that R* are money grubbing bastards only interested in selling Shark Cards and Gold is not mine alone. It is an idea shared by the wider community especially the regulars on here.7 points -

For the smaller dlc? No hype cause I have no idea what it might be. All I seen is yet another hypercar that looks like a spaceship. For the "biggest dlc ever" and the possibility of getting something entirely new for once? edit: Seems like they are adding new content to all the things we already have, right? New source missions? New sell missions? New spawn points for freeroam missions, new cars for I/E etc? Well... IF they do plan to add a new island/city in the next dlc after this one, I guess it would be logical for them to improve all the things they have so far before they move on to the next place, right? And can you even imagine how much money would they make rereleasing all the old content on the new map? Buy new office, new bunker, new arcade, new garages? This could be a goldmine for them and they wouldn't even have to create new content, just remake the old one in a new place. Remaking LC could be the smartest thing they ever did.6 points -

So... needless to say, it's good to see some communication from Rockstar but this content update better be truly massive or else it means they still continue to word the newswire posts excesively to make them seen bigger and hype people up. After searching for the old newswire posts regarding Frontier Pursuits and Moonshiners I didn't find any place where they mention those updates were massive, so this could mean this one is properly labeled and could have a ton of content. After 7 long months I think diversity is king regarding content here, because this DLC will have to appeal to a big part of the playersbase if it wants to live to the community expectations (and maybe, if people don't see the game growing and getting improved that might look to them like it's not worth it to continue playing). We're now less than 23 hours away from the launch of this expasion to RDO, I think we could see some more information and images today, but probably not a trailer because like @RS123 said, it makes sense to release the trailer the same day the DLC comes out so when people watch it, they already know the update is available and they don't have to wait to jump back in online. Personally I don't know how much realistic would be to expect them to add Guarma into online, that could be an amazing move but doesn't feel like the typical Rockstar. Regarding the new camera, I think it's lame that we need to buy a new one. Why don't they just add Albert Mason from SP and make it so you give him your camera, you find some parts (5?) scattered around the world or you pay for them on a fence and he just upgrade it for a price, or even better in exchange of some help taking photos of wildlife for him? That way we don't have to buy another tool letting the older camera collect dust in the inventory. Just my two cents.5 points -

Long beach port and other parts:) You do know that part of the port of Los Santos is based off Long beach and port of Los Angeles as well. The Vincent Thomas bridge is in fact in Long beach in real life. I knew right off the bat that part of los Santos port was long beach. This is coming from someone who's lived in Los Angeles and been to Long beach.4 points
