I would like to formally and sincerely thank everyone who voted for me in these here Awards. This is my second time in a row winning the award for Coolest Member in the GTA Online section and I appreciate all the love. This is also my second time as runner-up/second place for Best Poster on Discord, a position I am honored to share with revered staff member @Raavi. I haven't been around as much as in previous years as life moves on IRL and the game itself becomes increasingly dated, but I have enjoyed the chats, the pic spam and the information shared both on the forums and here on Discord. GTAF has been a nice way to pass the time and it's cool to connect with y'all over the years. I'm glad I can provide some value to you all. Unfortunately, I missed the End of the Year nomination period and felt real bad about not shouting out those I really respected here and Discord. Well I won't argue about looks because that's more of a matter of opinion than anything else, but I fully disagree about the S80RR being "just another RE-7B". It might be another prototype race car indeed but there's a huge gap between these cars when quality and details are taken into account. The S80RR has a much more well resolved design and its customization is so varied that you can make about 3~4 (I ain't sure, I think it's 3 ) different knock-off Group C cars out of it, from a Nissan R89 to a Porsche 962. I'd argue that with the S80RR around the RE-7B doesn't even have a reason to exist anymore. If anything that's how the RE-7B should have been to begin with. On the matter of details, I already think that it's more fact than opinion that the S80RR has an edge over both the Emerus and Krieger. Take them side by side and then open all of their doors. The level of detail on the S80RR model is astonishing, definitely the biggest surprise back when I bought it. It even has modeled brake cooling ducts! Both front and back, there's quite a lot going on under the hood, so clearly there was more effort put into it. I really wish it was faster. In a straight line it's quite sad to drive it.

I hate GTA racing with a passion thanks to handling model plus they're all incredibly, painfully slow in the straight line. Tyrus is nice example too: it looks alright and quite unique, but it's as slow as sedan from the street on the straight line. But to be frank, top speed in this game is ridiculously slow and the only interesting cars are Pariah or Viseris.

I haven't actually checked it out properly. I bought it and customized it the day it came out and did a couple of missions in it but haven't touched it since. I do own a lot but I don't really like or know anything about super cars with the Entity XF and XXR being an exception so to me with them looking so similar the S80 was just a 1 seater older or newer RE-RB. If I still own one I'll check out the customization on it properly tomorrow but I think I may have bought a Hellfire over it. I'm not too fussed about the level of details on cars I just go by what shape and look I prefer. I didn't even know those existed but I also don't like car racing and couldn't care less about the open wheel cars that are coming. I usually dislike armored vehicles but the Paragon is quite a lot of fun and with the right livery does look pretty good. Mine is blue and has a livery that was unreleased when it first came out that I got with the merge glitch and I don't mind the way it looks with the paneling on the side. I do need to change the wheels though. This is one of the cars I see the most from the casino update. The Gauntlets, 8F, S80 and Armored Paragon are the 5 cars I see the most being used. Never once seen a Neo or Zion Classic so those are the ones I'm most surprised about doing this well. I once had a Honda Accord 6th Gen coupe, with a built frankenstein F23A1 engine producing around 290 to the wheel, follow that by a set of perelli's and track suspension... You should have seen the faces of the guys rocking 60-150k dollar cars on the road track, I once had a guy in a corvette tell me it wasnt physically possible that my car is faster because asian's built it.... I would like to see the Caracara beat the S80 but I can't downvote anything but the Neo. I think the Krieger is pretty decent looking where as the S80 is just another RE7B. Only downside is I can't pick up hookers in it.

UP THE YARD

It's difficult for any developer to keep up with demand, but content updates every 3 months is pretty much the base standard these days for games like this and Rockstar struggle to maintain that. I was watching a talk by the Path of Exile CEO (a much smaller studio) where he talked about they handle it, they alternate between big update and small update, every 3 months. Frontiers (major) > Moonshiners (minor) > ??? (major) wouldn't be a bad release model but the issue is to have that style of content development and release the game needs a great gameplay loop and none of RDO's gameplay loops have the depth to keep players interested in a release model like that. GTAO has the same problem, as does many of the other online service based games that dominate consoles these days. They're pretty broad in scope but have the depth of a puddle. For players new to those types of games I assume it's enough for them as they do very well but for more hardcore players or players like my self who come from MMORPG's, well there's a reason I've been unable to really get into games like GTAO, Destiny, Division, etc etc, despite them all being right up my alley on paper. Only reason I've stuck with RDO is cause I really do adore the world and the potential, but it's difficult to find reasons to still play it with the lack of depth and new content.

I'm not downvoting the Caracara. I like it and respect that you like it too. You're welcome to 9th place. Considering you're a fan, have you considered getting the new Everon? Sometimes I play and I'm impressed by the details and quality of the game, even on PS3, it's amazing how Rockstar can create games that look like they're a generation ahead.

But I was on my second character. This should allow you to spin, but nope. Rockstar had to patch that. And then they give you the same objective twice. "Dance for us, monkey." said Rockstar. So they patch the glitch where you're able to retrieve more gold in a heist because $2.7 million shared between two characters is far too much!! How I assume a conversation would go down.. Me: So, $2.7 million between two characters is too much? R* : Yes. Me: But your cars are becoming more and more expensive. A $850 Vauxhall Corsa is $400,000. R*: Yes but inflation. Me: It doesn't work like that, but okay. $1.35 million for 2 hours grinding is too much for you to let us have? R*:Yes. Shark Cards. Me: But the cars are getting more expensive. R*: I know the Open Wheel cars will be over $3.6 million to purchase, but we can't have you making too much money!! Our shark cards will be affected and the $6 BILLION we made from video game sales is just not enough for our greedy pockets. They really love to piss on our parades, don't they??

It seems like the recent update was mainly focused on fixing the moonshine crashes. They did fix some bugs with a background update, so we would just have to wait for more fixes via background updates. Looks like most of the work on this recent update was done last week which is the same week they went back to work, they prioritized a fix for the crashes and pushed a couple of small background fixes. They could be making more fixes as we are talking right now. This is good news to me, seeing some fixes even if they weren't targeted at fixing the most annoying issues is better than seeing nothing.

That's a fairly large aside though isn't it. I can't speak for others, but being in public lobbies doesn't bother me, I have the same experience as you in the most part, if I don't go into towns I rarely see other players, even when I do, they don't usually bother me. I just want the game to work, I want to hunt, I want missions to start and play as intended, I want "random" events to pop up on my travels etc. The problem is that right now none of that stuff regularly works in public lobbies, and while I hope that R* can fix it, I don't have much faith that they will. That leads into why I, and I guess others, want private lobbies, it doesn't have much to do with whether or not they have to share Valentine with other players, but has everything to do with wanting to experience as near to as fully working game as it would be reasonable to expect.

Current session is swarming with Stick 'em up Joes, bored out of their goddamn skull or not having a clue on what to do in this game, aiming their guns at everything that can be killed. Low rank schmuck, mainly, but also a few 200+ ranks. If the many bugs and issues didn't ruin the game enough, it's the forced public lobbies. I'm a solo player for a reason, avoiding morons. This game is in desperate need of dedicated servers. I'm sure most, if not all, issues would be solved with dedicated servers. Separate PvE and PvP servers, maybe even a PVPE one and a steady connection is the answer. No more P2P sh*t, with all kinds of connection speeds in 1 lobby, with the slow ones generating issues for the whole lobby. If Rockstar indeed wants to do things different from what they did in GTAO, dedicated servers is a good start!
