The Perfect GTA Online Update
Grichka Bogdanoff and 8 others reacted to Tez2 for a topic
I just skimmed through your text, my thoughts are pretty much what you said about it being such an impossible task, I believe such a update will take a long time to arrive considering the amount of work it require, during all that time, Rockstar could have already announced their new title, and RDO may have received some big updates. I'm not rising up my expectations for such big updates, I think we will be good with some quality of life improvements here and there rather than a whole new type of freemode or something like that. Rockstar proved they can place a cooldown on Motorcycle Club constant spawn feature. Two or three years ago, the developers weren't willing to go through all that mess for such a small change, which made me believe that this game will just keep getting worse and worse. But now we see them making some effort to fix up the game. The amazing part about "quality of life changes" is that such small changes could make the game 10 times better, without having to come up with huge new content. If Rockstar ever do big updates, they are welcome and I'm sure no one is gonna complain about that.9 points -

I'm happy we're getting snow from tomorrow, I'll be up and in game for the tunable change at 6am. Don't care about the showdowns, you can wrap a turd in tinsel, it's still a turd. The care packages and gifts, I mean, what can I say, not much use to most of us day one players, but I'm sure I'll use some of what I receive, at some point.7 points -
The Perfect GTA Online Update
Naicox and 5 others reacted to TrinityCR for a topic
I’ve recently come back to GTA Online after the newest update and while I still cant say I like the direction the game has gone I always have to commend Rockstar on sticking with this game for so long. Now one thing I often like to play over in my head is how I would re-design certain games and Online is often one such game. This post might get a bit long but bellow I want to write up what I would consider my perfect update to Online/what I would change, just as a thought experiment. I’m interested in seeing what other people think and hearing others perfect update ideas. If you do read this whole thing – thank you. TL:DR – De-meme freeroam in a new lobby mode, a class system, a community hub. So let’s get started: GTA Online the Criminality Update! The Criminality Update adds a brand new and completely overhauled lobby mode to GTA Online with a focus on more down to earth and traditional series criminal gameplay. Most over the top elements are restricted in Criminality, leaving the Online we have now as a new “classic” mode. The entirety of Doomsday, oppressors, orbital cannons, laser guns, the Beast, Hydras, Deluxos, Ruiner 2000’s and so on are not available in freeroam Criminality servers. Purchasing ammo from the interaction menu is not an option making Ammu-Nation once again your best friend. On top of this players are no longer marked on the map unless certain options are used. Combined this leads to more immersive and yet tense situations. To play in the new Criminality lobbies a player must create a new third character and begin again from level 1 with a separate bank account. From here the existing contact missions are arranged as a loose story mode starting with Lamar and Gerald, through Trevor to Lester and into Heists. Progressing trough these missions acts just as it has in traditional GTA games, unlocking new weapons, properties and vehicles. Leveling up also unlocks new content including this modes largest change, the ability to choose your criminal specialization. Specializations: Specializations unlock at level 30 and act as a new type of “class” system within GTA Online. Utilizing the business/CEO system already available in classic Online these specializations are permanent to your character and will both lock content away from and unlock exclusive content depending on the chosen specialization. Specializations range in their style from rich guy CEO’s to low life gangsters. Once a specialization is chosen the player can now begin setting up their criminal empire. Unlike in classic mode however a specialized player can not own a conflicting class’s type of business; instead new businesses have been added, splitting the property market into 2 distinct types – Active and Passive. All specializations get at least one of each type of business some of which offer unique abilities to both the player and others in their session. These specializations are: Businessman: The rich, high flyer of the Online world who wants to show off their luxury and class. They gain access to high end cars, Galaxy Yachts, expensive suits and stilt houses as well as gaining a permanent bonus to Martin’s contact missions. A Businessman’s unique Active Business consists of owning an executive office and a network of warehouses to run special cargo out from. Mostly the same as we have come to expect from existing classic Online. This classes Passive Business is a ell to do financing company, acting as a front for wide spread money laundering. When this business is active all players can call up and request several services available, from removing bounties, setting much higher bounties, longer duration distract cops and more. Racer: The Racer is all about cars and car customization. They have access to the more competitive vehicles in the Online roster and can purchase an unlimited number of vehicle warehouses to store their collections. They also gain bonuses for any type of competitive race. A Racers Active Business is run out of a Vehicle Warehouse (now separated from the need to own an office) where they can engage in import/export missions, unchanged from what you already know. A Racers passive business is a new garage/vehicle modification workshop which offers unique modifications not found and LSC from colored window tints, higher level armour and engine mods and bobbleheads in all cars. Biker: The Biker is almost completely unchanged from what you know with the exclusive motorcycle mod shop available in Clubhouses and unique interaction menu options. They have the ability to run several types of illegal factories across San Andreas (coke, meth, weed, counterfeit money, forgeries). Alone these businesses don’t make much but when combined the profits pile up. A Bikers Passive Business consists of a brand new strip club/brothel open to all players as long as the business is owned, with new strippers to “befriend” and call to apartment get togethers. Gang Bangers: What is LS without out of date Gang Bangers. Set up your own street gang and fly your colors while gaining bonuses from Lamar and Gerald's contact missions as well as gain exclusive access to Lowrider modifications at Benny's. Gang Bangers can run all the same Active Business opportunities exactly the same way as Bikers which we covered above. Passively however a Gang Banger can open up their own underground fight club where players can engage in brutal hand to hand matches against one another or hoard modes of enemies. Keep in mined however the owner chooses the match rules. Mercenary: The Mercenary has sole access to some of Onlines more destructive equipment. While there are no Oppressors here the Rhino Tank, Insurgent and Ballistic Armour will always make for a fearsome challenge. On another note say goodbye to Mk2 research – although we’ll come back to these upgrades later on. Actively a Mercenary creates and runs guns from a secure military bunker, just the same as we know now. However due to the much increased firepower on offer to this specialization they have no Passive Business and instead have access to the Mobile Operations Command Canter and the well paying missions which can be started within. Nightshark: A Nightshark is a player dedicated to having a good time. While not as opulent as a Businessman (mostly because they blow all their money on partying) they still have access to some sweet luxury gear. A Nightshark has no Active business, at least not like the other specializations. Instead a Nightshark can run a Nightclub where they can choose performing DJ’s and throw blazing hot parties. Bellow the club however a production facility for all kinds of illicit materials runs hard at work creating product to be moved. Alongside this a Nightshark can operate an Arcade where all players can come to play some well aged classics, as long as the property is owned that is. (Note: The Diamond Heist is no longer hosted from within an Arcade, instead from a normal heist room). Finally we have the Smuggler: Smugglers can operate from a hanger where they can store their customized aircraft while running stolen and acquired goods across the state. Passively a Smuggler can set their hanger up with a Pegasus customization rental service allowing all players; even those not specialized as a Smuggler to customize their owned Pegasus vehicles. Again a player can only chose one specialization and the choice is permanent to that character. Not only does this facilitate role playing but all passive businesses are designed to offer inter-player benefits and activities to encourage community cohesion and relations. But what good is a business with nothing to sell to? Of course the old style of selling product be it guns, drugs, stolen cars or whatever to a waiting buyer is an option. Doing so does bring in substantial amounts of cash only now with the added benefit of constantly being off radar and with no server notification of your activities. Players will have to keep an open eye out for your delivery vehicle is they want to get in your way. But what if you want an even larger reward from your hard work? Introducing The Grand Hub! The Grand Hub is a criminal’s paradise located deep beneath the streets of Los Santos in the old disused subway and sewer tunnels. The Grand Hub is the black market haven for all aspiring empires, accessible in Freeroam only with restricted PvP (think the Continental from John Wick). The Grand Hub is where you can choose to deliver your goods if you want a much larger payout, But be aware however that doing so will alert other players of your actions (although you still wont be marked on the map). The Grand Hub is designed as just that, a community hub offering unique services found nowhere else such as a mission board with posts from all contacts including Lester, Securo Serve and even Maud’s bounties and calls to recover lost property such as the Diamonds stolen playing cards. A vehicle mod shop in The Grand Hub is able to outfit your car with remote and ignition explosives (no longer available at LSC) and a small bar offers arm wrestling, darts and beer. By far the most exclusive things available in the Hub however are the black market gunsmith where you can upgrade certain weapons to their Mk2 variants (no research required) and the marketplace where players can put prices on and sell gear they no longer want to others including cloths, masks, weapons and even vehicles. Just make sure to look around and find the best deals because the players chose the costs. All specialization HQ’s (Offices, Clubhouses, Nightclubs etc.) now contain a dedicated heist room where all existing and Diamond Casino heists can be started with newly re-animated cut scenes for the new rooms. After completing the Pacific Standard heist all players, regardless of specialization can become a member of the Diamond Casino and buy a luxury penthouse. The Dooms Day Heist and most associated content is unavailable in Criminality as is the ability to use Arena War vehicles in freeroam (although the Arena is still very much available. Players don’t even have to buy the mod shop anymore, just the cars that go inside). Overall I believe changes like this would make GTA Online a much better place and granted while it would be an incredible amount of work, quite possibly an impossible amount of work, for me this is my perfect vision of what Online could be. Sure this wouldn’t make Rockstar anywhere near as much money as they currently make off their deliberate game design but one can dream. I’d love some feedback on these ideas, maybe they’re completely ludicrous and would never work, who knows. Either way if you’ve made it to the end thank you for reading.6 points -
